002 - The Lure

“What the hell Miss Coker!, you can't go in there! Is Corey aware of the fact that you are here?.”

Lydia, Secretary to Brett Miller, Director of Fame Hall entertainment warned the red-haired girl bulldozing her way towards the director’s office despite her instructions to her to stay put. The director was a busy man whose time should not be intruded on without a prior appointment which this girl doesn’t have.

“Miss Lola Coker!.”

Lydia’s panicky voice died down the instant Lola made it successfully into the Director’s sound-proofed office and her heartbeat turned irregular as she finally came face to face with its occupant.

“Good day Director Miller.”

Lola greeted the middle-aged man who was displeased at her sudden intrusion.

“I’m so sorry Brett, She’s one of the dancers under Corey. She has no appointment ....” Lydia soon followed with a hurried apology and an accusing glance at Lola. “I’ll have her removed this instant.”

“Please director … I’m sorry to do this but I just need a few minutes of your time.” Lola voiced out desperately for Miller’s attention. Removed, thrown out, sent away… she didn’t mind what her fate would be later but not without fulfilling her purpose here at the very least.

Taking a clearer look at the uninvited dancer. The slight wrinkles on Brett Miller’s forehead slowly disappeared and his frown was replaced with a curiously raised eyebrow which was quite unnerving to Lola.

“Lydia?.” He finally spoke up. “….You may leave us now.

“But sir..” Lydia protested but was immediately silenced by a glare from Director Miller.

“I will be outside if you need me, sir.” Lydia finally obeyed.

On her way out, she gave Lola a pitiful glance. She knew the look in Brett’s eyes. She had seen it plenty of times before. He had found a new prey.

Brett Miller couldn’t tear his gaze away from the girl before him. Her face was divine and her hazel eyes were a fierce contrast to her current hopeless expression.. her baggy cargo pants and crop top barely did justice to her shape but Brett could swear that beneath all that fabric, she was magnificent.. just as he liked his women to be...

“Why are you here..?.” His voice was a little husky when he spoke again, barely hiding his desires from her.

Lola could feel the older man’s gaze all over her body and it made her wish she had worn even bigger clothes. It was disgusting, the way he looked at her. Lola fought the urge to throw up and mustered the courage to continue.

“I’m Lola Coker, sir and I’ve worked in the agency’s HipHop department for almost three years now which is longer than most of the other team members have… I know this is out of the ordinary but I need… I need.. at least a year’s payment in advance.”

The words were out before she knew it and Lola could only hold her breath as she waited for the director’s response.

For a long minute, the large office space was so painfully silent that Lola wondered if the man had even heard her the first time. Just when she was about to repeat her words, a burst of nerve-cracking laughter resounded in the room.

“A year’s payment in advance? That’s a ridiculous request girl. I have no time for this nonsense.”

The man’s mocking voice repeated her words. His calculative eyes swept over the girl on her knees with the utmost amusement. He had chosen to listen to the girl because he thought she looked pretty and he had taken her to be one of those dancers who would beg for his attention from time to time, willingly gracing his bed for a role or favor of some sort but she was here for an advance payment??.

The intensity of her current situation dawned on her and Lola slowly fell to her knees, it did not matter that this man was at least two decades older than she was, nor did it matter that Miller was the uncle to her worst enemy.

“Who the hell asks for an advance payment? and for a year at that!” Brett Miller wondered as his gaze swept over the girl on her knees once more. Unless… maybe.. he could try his luck with this girl.

Brett ran his tongue hastily over his dry lips as he felt his lower member twitch in excitement. The girl’s current situation should irritate him.. but instead, it excited him. On her knees.. in his office. She was at his mercy… an easy prey.

“Come on now, don’t cry..” he hushed as he rose to his feet and moved over to the spot where Lola kneeled, waiting. Her red hair was inviting and he felt the urge to run his hand through it, so he did just that making Lola instinctively flinch and move to the side a little away from him.

“A year’s payment, you said?.”

“Yeah…”

“That’s easy. I can grant you that.. right here, right now.”

Lola’s eyes widened as she looked up at the director surprised he would agree so easily. She hurriedly stood up on her feet as she gave him a grateful look. “Really? Thank..”

“On one condition…” Brett Miller suddenly added, cutting her off. His mischievous eyes stared intensely at Lola, moving from her full cherry-red lips to her bosoms.

Condition?. Lola felt uneasy with his words and his stare but it was already enough that he agreed to give her the money. “What condition…sir?.”

“That you rub my back and I rub yours.” He announced and licked his lips once more as he smiled at Lola. “I hope you understand Miss Coker…”

The flicker of hope in Lola’s hazel eyes immediately died down as she took a step backward. She was no child. She could guess the direction the director was heading but it was better to give him the benefit of doubt. “I’m not sure I understand what you mean by that, Director Miller…”

Brett Miller laughed at the girl’s poor trial to play the fool. These women were all the same in the end. Looking and acting innocent at the start but willingly jump into his bed at the end of the day.

“You are one hell of a beautiful woman, Lola and I trust that you are as wise as well.” Brett continued, no longer hiding his intentions. “Grace my bed for a week or two and you would never have to beg for advance payments or favors… ever again..”

“I beg your pardon, sir,” Lola said in total disgust as she took a step away from the man.

“Brett.” He corrected.

“I believe you have the wrong idea of my request sir. I am willing to work for the money… the right way. I don't mind taking on more roles, director! I’m willing to take the ads that the other girls won’t. .” Lola blurted out once more.

“I would do twice, no three times more than the work I do in a month to show how grateful I would be. Kindly help me out, please. You could save a life..”

The ringing sound of the office intercom cut Lola off...

“Tsk tsk..” Brett Miller hissed as he looked over Lola in disappointment as he answered the phone. “Yes, Lydia? What is it?.”

A tear slid down Lola’s cheek as she watched Director Miller converse with his secretary on the other end. Was there nothing she could do to save Maria? Something that did not involve giving out her body...

“Miss Coker?.” Director Miller suddenly called out and Lola realized he had ended the call.

“Yes, Director?.” Lola responded as she approached the man’s desk cautiously. He was all smiles and seemed to be in a better mood than he had been a few minutes ago.

Brett Miller scribbled a few words on a note and handed it over to Lola. “Here, you can have this. Give it to Lydia on your way out and she would handle the rest.”

Lola looked down at the piece of paper in her hand and her eyes widened in disbelief on seeing the words the director had scribbled on the note. She was to be given two thousand dollars… “What?!.” She exclaimed speechlessly. Wait.. why did he have a change of heart?.

“I can’t sleep with you, director. If that’s the reason why you are granting me this. Then I’m sorry, I would have to refuse it.”

“Nonsense.” Brett Miller responded with a smile as he returned the note to Lola. “I don’t force women Lola, they come to me willingly. About this…It’s only an advance payment for a job. You mentioned that you were willing to take any job, did you not?.”

“Definitely...” Lola responded. She stared at the note once more still amazed that he would help her out. Brimming with joy in her heart, Lola thanked the director over and over again.

As she walked away from the desk with the paper in hand, Brett Miller’s smiling lips slowly curved up into a mischievous smirk.

Lydia hung up on a call and shook her head as she waited for a document from the printer to deliver. She then gathered the documents and dropped them off on Director Miller’s desk.

“It's only another random agency with a lot of money to offer, sir. The proposal doesn’t give too many details, not even the company’s name! I don’t think it’s safe to send out any of our dancers. Also, seeing how much they are willing to pay for a single dancer and hide their identity. My guess is they must be into some illegal business. I suggest we reject the job, sir.”

“Nonsense.” Brett Miller disagreed as his lips slightly curved with a mischievous grin. “Did she sign the contract before getting the check?.” He asked, referring to Lola.

“Yes, director.”

“Perfect.” Brett Miller said as his grin deepened.

The profit was twenty times more than the agency’s service charge. Why should he pass up on such a good opportunity to make more money?

Lola’s beautiful face flashed in his mind and he chuckled. “She is an ordinary backup dancer who is not even a treasure in the agency. It wouldn't hurt to trade her in exchange for such a promising profit.”
