Introduction
"You have to learn to manage your emotions, Aria. It is not acceptable for a real Luna to display weakness.
As I stood in front of my mother, who was assessing me with her piercing green eyes, I tried to maintain a straight expression. Minutes earlier, I had shed tears, and my cheeks were still damp. The weight of my parents' expectations was crippling, even at eight years old.
"But, Mother, what if I don't want to be a Luna?" My question was hardly audible above a whisper.
My mother's face became serious. "Ariana, you'll fulfil your obligation. Our pack will be proud of you.
I nodded as I felt a wave of resolve wash over me. Like my mother, I would demonstrate my value as a Luna.
I grinned, excited to join my buddies as I heard laughing and playful growls coming from outside. My mother smiled back at me, her eyes softening.
"Ariana, go. Have a good day. But keep in mind that as you age, your obligations will only increase.
I nodded, well certain that my life will be dedicated to serving and protecting our pack. My mother's voice interrupted me as I turned to go.
"One more thing, Aria. Cassian Blackwood is scheduled to meet with you today. He may be your future mate since he is the son of an ally of our pack."
The idea of a possible partner made my heart skip a beat. The idea of discovering my mate made me shudder since I had heard tales of their close link.
As I stepped out into the bright sunlight, I saw a number of children playing in the main clearing of the pack. One of them had piercing blue eyes and jet-black hair.
I felt as if an invisible link was drawing me to him. As our eyes met, he grinned, and I grinned back, feeling a connection.
"Cassian?" My question was hardly audible above a whisper.
His eyes wrinkled at the corners as he nodded. "Aria. I'm glad to have met you.
As we stood there, the outside world disappeared, leaving only the two of us, standing there in a moment of pure oneness.
"I've heard a lot about you," Cassian said in a smooth, low voice. "You're supposed to be the future Luna of our pack.”
His remarks gave me a rush of pride. When I said, "I'll do my best to make our pack proud," I tried to sound certain.
Cassian's grin sparkled in his eyes. "I have no doubt you will," he said. "But I have to ask, Aria... do you ever feel trapped by your destiny?”
Unsure of how to respond, I paused. However, Alpha Blackwood, Cassian's father, materialised behind us before I could reply.
He added, "Ah, Cassian, I see you've met Aria," with a spooky warmth in his voice. "I trust you'll become... close friends."
I stared straight into Alpha Blackwood's eyes and felt a chill. I started to wonder whether our encounter was more than a coincidence since he seemed odd in some manner.
Then Alpha Blackwood's face shifted as abruptly as that. His voice became hostile, and his eyes narrowed.
"I need to talk to you, Cassian. "Now."
Cassian's eyes moved to mine, and I saw a glimmer of concern. But before I could reply, he turned and went after his father, leaving me alone in the clearing.
A feeling of worry descended over me as I watched them go into the forest. What had just taken place? What was Alpha Blackwood's desire for Cassian?
There was little time for me to think. Just as I turned to go, I saw a piece of paper on the ground. There was a message written in hasty hand.
"Aria, come see me at midnight by the ancient oak tree. Come by yourself. -C.
My heart skipped a beat when I read the message. For what reason did Cassian come to see me? Why did he want me to come alone?
Anxiety and happiness surged through me as I tucked the paper into my pocket. I had a feeling that something significant was about to occur in my life.
I couldn't shake the feeling of exhilaration and curiosity as I travelled back to my house. For what reason did Cassian come to see me? Why did he want me to come alone?
When I got to my house, my mother was in the living room waiting for me. With sparkling eyes, she said, "Aria, how was your day?"
I paused, not sure how much to reveal. "It was fine, Mother," I said, trying to seem nonchalant. "I met Cassian Blackwood, and we talked for a bit."
My mother's expression became thoughtful. "Yes, in fact. Cassian. Although he is a good kid, his father—well, that's another story."
Wondering, I raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean, Mother?"
My mother stepped forward in a clandestine manner. "Alpha Blackwood is not a reliable man, Arianna. He has a reputation for being crafty and power-hungry. Even if I'm not sure what his true goals are, we should be cautious around him.
A shiver ran down my spine when I heard my mother's remarks. What brought Cassian and I into contact with Alpha Blackwood's desires?
As the night wore on, I began to check the time every few minutes. I couldn't help but feel both delighted and nervous as midnight approached.
When we met in private, what would Cassian tell me? What did he mean when he said, "Come alone"?
As the clock struck midnight, I slipped out of my house and made my way to the old oak tree. The full moon above cast an eerie glow over the forest.
As I approached the tree, I saw someone waiting for me in the shadows. There stood Cassian, his eyes glistening with anticipation and fear.
He said, "I'm glad you came, Aria," in a meek, frantic tone. "I have an important item to tell you. Something has the ability to change everything.
My pulse was pounding with anticipation as I approached Cassian. What was he trying to tell me? And what did it mean for our future?
We both froze as a deep growl reverberated across the jungle before Cassian could speak another word.
"What was that?" I muttered as I looked around the shadows.
Cassian's expression turned white. "I don't know, but I think we're in trouble."
Everything went dark after that.
The mating ceremony I felt like I was smoothing out my white dress for the hundredth time as I stood in front of the mirror. The Luna, my mother, fussed over my hair, making sure every strand was in its proper position. She remarked, "Aria, you look beautiful," as she took a moment to gaze at me. "You're going to make a stunning mate."The use of the word "mate" made my heart skip a beat. The Mating Ceremony, which would permanently tie me to Cassian Blackwood, took place today.I couldn't help but feel anxious and excited at the same time. Although I had always expected to be matched to Cassian, I couldn't help but worry about what the future contained now that the day had come.I was given a little, fragile box by my mother. She added, "This was your grandmother's," with tears in her eyes. "It's a tradition for the Luna's daughter to wear it on her Mating Day."A lovely silver necklace with a little crystal pendant was inside the package when I opened it. I felt a connection to my
Rejection My pulse was pounding with excitement as I stood in front of the pack. It had only been a few days since the ritual, yet Cassian and I had been wedded for what seemed like an eternity. However, I saw something in Cassian's eyes that broke my heart. I had never seen such a distance, such a coldness."Aria," Cassian whispered in a hoarse, low voice. "I could tell you were unique the instant I met you. However, as I've learnt more about you, I've come to the realisation that I was wrong. It seemed as if someone had hit me in the stomach. What was Cassian discussing?Cassian's remarks, "I don't love you, Aria," were piercing. "I didn't. Furthermore, I doubt that I ever will.My cheeks burned with embarrassment as the group gasped in surprise. How could Cassian harm me like this? In front of the whole group? My voice was stuck in my throat as I attempted to speak. I thought I would throw up.I briefly believed I saw a glimpse of sorrow in Cassian's eyes when they met mine. Howev
EscapeMy boots thumping on the ground, I raced as quickly as I could. I knew I had to leave the group, but I had no idea where I was heading. Leave Cassian and his rejection behind. Stay away from Alpha Blackwood's perverse schemes. The trees seemed to blend as I ran. My knee was skinned on the uneven ground when I slipped and fell. But with my pulse thumping in my chest, I clambered to my feet and continued to run. After running for an unknown amount of time, I finally saw a light in the distance. With my legs hurting and my breath coming in sharp gasps, I staggered over to it.I saw a little cottage tucked away in a clearing as I came out of the woods. Warm light spilt from the windows, and smoke floated languidly from the chimney. My pulse thumping with fatigue, I staggered over to the cabin. When I got to the door, I banged on it in the hopes that someone would respond.A familiar face emerged as the door cracked open. The renegade wolf that had been observing me from the shadows
CaptureI made an effort to resist, but Ronan's hold was too tight. To protect me from Alpha Blackwood's onslaught, he drew me behind him. However, before we could get away, a pack of wolves with bright eyes sprang out of the darkness.Ronan squinted and bared his fangs in a snarl. The word "traitors," he growled. The wolves, Ronan's outlaws, surrounded us, their teeth clenched in anticipation.I made an effort to resist, but Ronan's hold was too tight. His gaze was fixed on mine as he drew me in.He said, "I'm sorry, Aria," in a whisper. "I didn't mean for this to happen."But the wolves struck, their jaws snapping fiercely before he could speak another word.In retaliation, Ronan twisted and turned his body to protect me from the group. However, there were too many of them, and soon Ronan was overpowered by the weight of the pack, which pinned him to the ground.I tried to fight free by screaming, but it was too late. With their teeth clenched in anticipation, the wolves surrounded
The Proposal of Ronan My head was still hammering from what had happened the night before, so I sat up. Concern was written on Ronan's face, and I could see he was unsure of how to approach me. Ronan continued, "Aria, I need to talk to you," in a sombre and hushed voice. With my pulse pounding with excitement, I nodded. "What is it, Ronan?" Ronan inhaled deeply before he spoke. "I want to assist since I know Kael has been causing you discomfort. However, I need your assistance in return. Curious, I arched an eyebrow. "What do you mean?" Ronan's piercing stare was fixed on me. "Ariana, I would want to propose to you a contract marriage. I'll give you the strength and safety you need to defeat Kael and his supporters in return for your defence and assistance." As I took in what he had said, my heart skipped a beat. A marriage under contract? With Ronan? The idea chilled me to the bone. "What do you mean by 'contract marriage'?" Trying to speak steadily, I asked. Leaning forward
Aria's Choice I sat silently, taking in what Ryker had spoken. I was beginning to feel as if I was ensnared in a web of lies and treachery as Ronan's secrets continued to accumulate. But I was resolved to live and prosper in spite of the risk. "Thank you for telling me, Ryker," I answered firmly. "But I need to make a decision about Ronan's proposal." Ryker nodded and his face became serious. I know what you mean, Aria. But use caution. There are other people observing you besides Ronan. With my pulse pounding with excitement, I nodded. Even though I was aware of the danger, I was prepared to take whatever necessary precautions to keep myself safe. I said, "I've made my decision," in a forceful tone. "I'm going to accept Ronan's proposal." Ryker stepped back as his eyes widened in amazement. "Are you certain, Aria? Ronan is not a trustworthy guy. I nodded, becoming more determined. "I'm certain, Ryker. To safeguard myself and my future, I must take this action. Ryker nodded, h
The Start of Training The sound of Ronan's voice, brimming with excitement, roused me. "Ariana, we're starting your training today. You'll learn how to fight, protect yourself, and plan." My pulse was pounding with anticipation as I sat up. I was anxious to learn since I had always found strategy and battle to be fascinating. Ronan grinned, approbation glimmering in his eyes. "I anticipated your eagerness, Aria. You're naturally skilled at fighting." I had a rush of pride and got to my feet, staring into Ronan's eyes. "Ronan, I'm prepared to learn. Give me all of your knowledge. Ronan nodded, his face solemn. "Great job, Aria. But we have to start with the fundamentals first. Combat involves more than simply fighting; it also involves strategy and tactics. I nodded, excitement rushing through my head. I was committed to being the greatest fighter I could be, and I was prepared to learn. Ronan started teaching me the fundamentals of fighting, including how to anticipate my oppon
Introduction of Kai My gaze was locked on the shadowed figure, and I stood still. She was a tall, athletic lady with emerald eyes that seemed to pierce my soul. "Who is that?" My question was hardly audible above a whisper. Ronan grinned as his gaze met mine. "That's Kai, Aria. Beta and my brooding strategist."Kai took a step forward while maintaining eye contact with me. "Hello, Aria," she replied in a sultry, deep voice. "I've heard a lot about you." My interest was piqued, and I moved onward. I answered, "And I've heard nothing about you," in a forceful tone. She grinned, and Kai's gaze furrowed. "Ariana, I'm not into social events. However, I'm always waiting and observing." The realisation that Kai was more than simply a Beta sent a chill down my spine. He was a strategist. She was the one who guided Ronan through the convoluted realm of werewolf politics and assisted him in making judgements. "Ronan," I stated firmly. "I need further information regarding Kai. What part
The Next Action of the CouncilThe council's chamber was filled with tension as they gathered to decide on their next action. The insufficient lighting cast extended shadows on the walls and produced a loud silence.Marcus confidently declared, "Friends, we have shown patience for too long." "Now is the moment for us to act and regain our rightful position as the leaders of this pack."The other Council members nodded in consensus after agreeing on their appearances Then Victor said sceptically, "But how do we plan to do this?""We shall ambush Aria and her group unexpectedly," Marcus declared, his eyes shinin"g. "We will surprise them and bring them down before they have a chance to respond."The other council members responded with resolute expressions."But what about Cassian?" Victor said in a concerned tone, " Marcus said firmly, "We will deal with Cassian later." "First, we need to focus on taking down Aria and her pack."With determined looks, the council members nodded. The
Chapter 32: Cassian's DespairCassian paced around his room, his eyes filled with urgency. No matter the cost, he needed to win Aria back. The thought of her being with Ronan was impossible for him, and he couldn't imagine life without her.He stopped his walk and faced the mirror. His skin was pale, and his eyes were recessed. He appeared to be a basic reflection of the individual he once was.He wondered softly to himself, "What am I doing?" "I'm a ruler, and I'm allowing a simple wolf to assume my position."He began to pace once more after looking away from the mirror. He had to come up with a plan swiftly. He couldn't just observe Ronan and Aria enjoying their time together. He reflected on everything he had done to try to capture Aria's heart as he walked back and off. He had saved her from danger, offered her gifts, and even brought her affectionate wonder. Yet she consistently seemed to distance herself from him, no matter his actions. He ceased his walking and looked up at th
The Heartbreak of Aria Aria's eyes were open with shock at discovering the truth about Luca. She had always thought of him as a friend and brother, but now she recognised him for what he really was: a betrayal. Luca's activities were governed by a dark force that was a mystery and an evil entity that had been using him for its own purposes. Aria's heart was heavy with grief as her mind whirled with the realisation. She recalled the moments when Luca had supported her and assisted her. Now, though, she knew it was all a lie. Ronan's manner was worried as he studied into her eyes. He said, "Aria, I'm so sorry," in a low, rough voice. With tears in her eyes, Aria shook her head. "No, Ronan," she said, hardly raising her voice above a whisper. "I apologise for myself. I should have seen it sooner.Malice soaked the black force's voice as it raised its voice. "You should have stayed out of this, Aria," it stated. "You should have left Luca alone."Aria's resolve caught as her eyes narro
Chapter 30: The Fury of RonanRonan faced Luca, his eyes burning with rage. Tension permeated the air, and the stillness between them was evident. Ronan said in a deep, ominous voice, his words brimming with hate. "Luca, you're a traitor," Ronan flatly said. "You have wounded Aria and violated our confidence. You will be held accountable for your actions. Luca's eyes gleamed with victory, and his grin was icy. He answered, "I'm not afraid of you, Ronan," in a disdainful tone. "And I'm not afraid of any of you."Ronan's hackles sprang up and his eyes blazed with rage. With his paws flexed and prepared to attack, he stepped forward. Luca's grin wavered as his eyes became wild.Aria, however, stepped in before Ronan could strike. "Ronan, don't," she stated firmly. "Let me handle this." Ronan's mind was buzzing with questions as his eyes narrowed. How was Aria going to proceed? And why was she getting involved? But Aria started talking before he could enquire. She said, "Luca, you're a
The Betrayal of Luca in Chapter 29 As the pack gathered around their leader, Ronan, it was obvious that they were anxious. There was a deafening silence and a lingering sense of anxiety. With his gaze lingering on each member of his pack, Ronan looked around the room. Luca's deep, raspy voice suddenly arose. His gaze remained fixed on the alphas. "Ronan, I think we need to talk about Aria," he replied. Ronan raised his hackles and squinted his eyes. With a stern tone, he enquired, "What about Aria?" Luca smiled icily, his eyes sparkling with poison. He remarked scornfully, "I think we need to discuss her loyalty." The group became more irritated, and their muttering became louder. Ronan's voice was elevated, and his eyes were burning with rage. His tone was stern when he answered, "Luca, what are you talking about?" When Luca's eyes met Ronan's, his smile widened. "I'm talking about the fact that Aria is not who she says she is," he retorted in a threatening tone. Ronan, s
Chapter 28: The Giving Up of Kai Kai stood up and turned to face Lyra, who was celebrating Aria's transformation. He understood he had to act quickly after seeing the fear in Aria's eyes. Sternly, "Lyra, stop this," Kai said. "You're not going to harm Aria or Ronan's pack." Lyra looked straight at Kai and grinned. "And what are you going to do to stop me, Kai?" Her tone was one of disdain. Kai took a step forward and looked directly into Lyra's eyes. His words, "I'll do whatever it takes to protect Aria and Ronan's pack," were taken without hesitation. Lyra laughed coldly and cynically. She said, "Kai, you're just a stupid mortal," Do you think you can stop me? I have the power of the ancient magic. With a fierce gleam in his eyes, Kai smiled. "I may not have the power of the ancient magic, but I have something that you don't," he said. "I have the power of love and loyalty." Then Kai raced to Lyra, throwing his hands in the air. Lyra was unprepared for Kai's
Aria's Battle As Lyra approached her, Aria stood up straight and fixed her gaze on her. The air was tense, and there was a noticeable silence between them. Lyra smiled coldly, her eyes glimmering with hate."You're a hard woman to find, Aria," Lyra shot back, her tone bitter. "But I've finally tracked you down."Aria's eyes narrowed, and her hackles sprang up. "What do you want, Lyra?" she said in a severe tone.Lyra's grin widened. "I want to take down Ronan's pack, and I need your help to do it," she stated ironically. Aria's eyes widened in surprise. The phrase "You can't be serious," she said, unable to believe them. "Ronan is my pack, and I won't let you harm them.” Anger flared in Lyra's eyes. "You're just a traitor, Aria," she said. "You abandoned me, and now you think you can just join another pack and forget about your past?”Aria became enraged, and her eyes narrowed. "I didn't abandon you, Lyra," she said flatly. "I needed to defend myself, so I fled. And because Rona
Chapter 26: Attacks by the Silver Fang PackThe area was bathed in a golden light as the sun descended over Ronan's domain. With their senses sharpened, Ronan, Aria, and the pack were hard at work getting ready for the hunt that evening. There was a loud roar, followed by snapping and growling. Ronan's hackles flew up as his eyes squinted. "What's going on?" he said in a low, threatening voice.Aria had a determined expression on her face, and her eyes were fixed on the horizon. "It's the Silver Fang Pack," she said confidently. "They're attacking."Ronan's eyes widened as his rage increased. He shouted, "Let's go," in a big, booming voice. As Ronan and Aria approached the assaulting pack, the pack trailed behind them. The air was filled with growls and snarls as the conflict went on. With their claws blazing in the last of the sun, Ronan and Aria battled side by side. As the battle continued, Ronan saw that the enigmatic Silver Fang Pack leader seemed to be controlling the
The Plan of the Council The council's rooms were softly lit, the only sound being the quiet hum of the fluorescent lights above. The air was heavy with anxiety as the Council members gathered around the enormous, wooden table. Marcus, the council leader, cleared his throat at the head of the table. "We have a problem, gentlemen. Still at large is Aria, the wolf that has been causing so much trouble. With grim expressions, the other Council members nodded in agreement. One of them stated, "We need to eliminate her," in a firm voice. Marcus gave a nod. "I concur. However, we must exercise caution. Aria is not your typical wolf. We don't fully understand the powers she possesses."As the Council members pondered Marcus's remarks, the room went quiet. One of them finally raised his voice. He responded, "I think I have a plan," with a cunning smile on his face. Curious, the other council members leaned forward. "What is it?" Marcus enquired. The council member, whose name was Victor,
