ALMOST CAUGHT

“Ha ha… No… Ermm, well, yes. I wanted to but… but I then remembered, she has an online class… yes, a class.” She stuttered, while thinking of what to say. Jayden steadied his gaze at her and his eyes were icy, and piercing. Like they would kill her. His smile had vanished, and he had the devil’s warning look. No one needed to tell Loverina that she was a dead meat. She used her eyes to beg for mercy.

“Huh? A meeting by this time of the night?” Loverina started laughing as Alexis asked. She wished Alexis would just stop asking questions and, rather, believe her lies. Jayden was taking note and his face wasn’t welcoming.

“Yes. The thing is, she has an online meeting with her boss. She told me they have an appointment.” She lied again and this time, Alexis bought it.
