“Shit. Shit. Shit.”

Alex threw his phone on the bed, panicking. He ran his hands through his hair continuously, cursing at intervals. After a while of panicking and pacing around the room, he finally paused to take deep breaths.

Inhale, exhale, repeat.

Folding his arms, he took slow steps as he walked towards his bed. Though buried under sheets, he could still see his phone and like it was waiting for his arrival, it beeped signalling a new text message.

He could feel a new wave of panic rush through him.

Slowly and even more slowly, he stretched his arm forward and reached for his phone. On reaching it, he slightly closed his eyes then turned it on to see what text message he had received again.

It was a message from Victoria.

Victoria: Hii

Victoria: I’m done with my part of the project. You?

Victoria: if you’re also done, let’s meet tomorrow at my place to finalize it?

Alex could have cried. If only he had finished just five minutes later he wouldn’t have had t

"I'm Alex Croft, no, my name is Alex Croft, no, Hello standing in front of you is Alex- arrrrrgghhhhhhh." Alex slammed his heaf on the table, groaning in pain as he felt the pain. He ran his hand through his hair in frustration, recalling how he had been in the library ever since his classes for the day were over, trying to get himself ready for his presentation. His presentation was going to be happening the following day and though he seemed confident when he spoke to Victoria about it, deep down he knew he was nervous. Very nervous. It wasn't going to be his first time presenting in the presence of an audience but it was going to be his first time in over six years. He had spent the majority of his high school life as a literal shadow and as a result, never had to present in front of the class making his last memory of such presentations presenting his little self grown plant back in the sixth grade. This, however, was different and he was sure simply a toothless smile and light

  • BLUE   Chapter Twenty-One

Alex shut his eyes even tighter, recognizing the voice and familiar touch. “It’s getting late, Blue. Wake up.” On realizing his gentle taps weren’t getting Alex to get up, Seb moved his hand from his back to his hair. He leaned forward to confirm Alex still sleeping and on doing that, smiled to himself. “Blue,” he muttered, running his hand through Alex’s hair. It was the first time he touched his hair and it oddly felt good. So good he couldn’t bring himself to stop so easily. Alex, already awake, could feel his insides twist and turn with Seb continuously running his hands through his hair, caressing it and having its tips dance around his fingers. He had two options. To either pretend for longer and risk Seb toying with his hair for even longer or to just get up and have Seb stop caressing his hair.Taking a deep breath, he opened his eyes and immediately met Seb’s gaze. “You’re finally up,” Seb said, watching Alex slowly raise his head from the desk. “Just for how long

  • BLUE   Chapter Twenty-Two

“Oh you look good!” Alex let out a nervous chuckle as he walked towards his empty seat on the dining. It was a normal morning with his aunt and cousin already seated while he joined. “What?” even his words sounded nervous as he dropped his backpack next to him. “Oh, do i?” “Mhm mhm,” his aunt reconfirmed her words. “Are you headed somewhere after college today?” “Eh? No, I’m not.” His eyes fell to his lap as he replied her. He was putting on white trousers he had never worn ever since he got them paired with a striped hoodie like shirt. He had bright white sneakers, matching his trousers and complimenting his outfit. “Just college.” “Oh really?” his aunt stylishly checked him out. “Too bad then. You look all perfectly dressed up for a date.” “NO IT’S NOT A DATE!” “Okay cousin,” it was Lucas’ turn to speak and he did that with laughter accompanying his words. “We believe you aren’t going on a date after school. You don’t have to get all worked up.” “I-” before he co

SEBASTIAN KEATES: Hope you haven’t forgotten.. SEBASTIAN KEATES: The volunteering event is tomorrow. Alex read the messages received from Seb the previous day one more time then dropped his charger into his already packed backpack. Giving his room a final look around to confirm he wasn’t forgetting anything, he grabbed his bag and walked out of it. He was fully ready for his two day trip. It was a weekend and his aunt had been nice enough to offer to drive him all the way to the take off location. An offer he had simply rejected as he didn’t want to bother her or be a hassle. Her room was few rooms away from his so he headed in that direction before heading downstairs. His cousin was out for a party and hadn’t gotten back since the previous night, leaving the house to just him and his aunt. “Aunt Carol?” he let out, placing a gentle knock on her door. “Are you up?” “Yes, yes,” he heard her say. “Come in.” Nodding, he stepped into her room looking around immediately he got i

Or not really? Alex looked around him as he sat idly. It wasn’t always like that though as for the first few hours, they were busy with everything related to organizing the event. It was a hassle , they couldn’t deny but few hours later, they finally felt relieved. Alex: It’s okay here Alex: was busy initially but it’s way better now SEBASTIAN KEATES: You sure? Alex: trust me if it was still as hectic, I wouldn’t be replying your texts. SEBASTIAN KEATES: Haha okay now I believe you Alex: Good. SEBASTIAN KEATES: Generally speaking… SEBASTIAN KEATES: Are you enjoying the whole event? SEBASTIAN KEATES: Okay maybe enjoying isn’t the most appropriate term SEBASTIAN KEATES: But does it meet up to the standard of what you wanted? Alex laughed at the text. “Hey.” “Hey.” They both simultaneously broke into smiles and turned in the direction of the announcer who had already gotten there and was ready to announce whatever she had to say. Alex shoved his hands into his pocket, stylishly watching Seb as he folded his. He looked tired. Exhausted, even. His t-shirt looked rumpled compared to how it looked earlier and his hair looked dishevelled, lacking its natural style. “Was it stressful working over there?” “No, it was okay,” like he heard his thoughts, Seb replied then ran his hands through his hair like he was trying to make it look smooth. “It felt weird not seeing you around for almost a whole day.” “Don’t be dramatic,” Alex faked a scowl. “Nothing should be weird about that.” “It did though,” Seb said, giving Alex a quick glance. “Um, earlier. Who was that guy you were talking to?” “Oh, you mean George?” “Is that his name?” “Yeah,” Alex turned to notice Seb had folded his arms again and was looking away from him. His eyebrows

It took Alex only a few seconds to realize he wasn't sleeping on the floor anymore. He turned and instead of feeling the hard cold floor against his body, he felt a soft and warm duvet wrapped around him.Immediately, his eyes shut open and he got up from the bed, confirming he was truly no longer on the floor. What the hell had happened the previous night? Was it not all a dream?"You're up," Seb's voice pulled him out of his momentary trance. "Good morning."He looked up at him as he strode across the room. He was fully clothed in dark jeans and a sweatshirt. His hair looked freshly washed and in total, he looked like he had gotten up ages ago and was ready to go."How did I get here?" Alex asked him, pulling the sheets away from him. "On the bed, I mean. I clearly remember falling asleep on the floor so how?""You don't remember?" There was a confusing look in Seb's eyes as he asked. "Well, it got really cold yesterday so I helped you up. To the bed.""Oh," Alex had more questions

SEBASTIAN KEATES: Hey SEBASTIAN KEATES: Can you come over? It was an unusual text to be received from Seb so early. Especially considering the fact that they hadn’t spoken to each other ever since the last day of volunteering. Alex: Um, why? His reply came in few minutes later. SEBASTIAN KEATES: I’m going shopping for my birthday party and could use an extra hand SEBASTIAN KEATES: You wouldn’t be attending anyways. SEBASTIAN KEATES: It’s the least you could do with me, don’t you think? Alex fought the urge to roll his eyes as he texted his reply. Alex: Fine, I’ll be there. SEBASTIAN KEATES: I could pick you up if you want Alex: You don’t have to. I can manage. SEBASTIAN KEATES: I’ll be expecting you then He slid his phone down his pocket and got up from his bed, grabbing a hoodie resting by his bedside. He had taken his bath and was all freshened up. None of them could remember the order with which they left Alex’s room but all they could recall was all getting into Carol’s car and in no time, getting to the hospital. They got to the hospital and immediately headed to Alex’s room. Sounds of gratitude escaped their lips as they stepped into his room, watching him sit up on his bed, eyes open and having less machines connected to him. “Alex,” his aunt let out, walking towards him. He looked up at her, looking way better than he did the previous night and had her heave a sigh of relief. “How are you? How do you feel?”“I’m fine, Aunt Carol,” he replied her. “What happened? How did you find me?” “I’m sure you know you obviously got into an accident,” she said to him. “Seb found you and brought you here. What happened?” “I-” “It’s fine,” she quickly cut him off, patting his hand. “We’ll talk about that later. All that matters right now is that you’re fine.” “You should have seen yourself when they rushed you here,” Lucas playful

After a couple of minutes more, they were all finally allowed to go in to see Alex. Seb walked in, Carol and Lucas taking lead as they moved towards Alex’s bed. He was changed into the typical patient’s outfit, a bandage wrapped around his head, few machines connected to him. They all stared at him, no words getting uttered. After a while, Carol heaved a sigh and walked out, Lucas doing the same to leave the room empty with just Alex and Seb in it. “Blue,” Seb moved closer towards Alex when it was just them in the room. Sighing, he took a seat next to him and placed his hand on his. “What were you thinking? I am the one who was supposed to get hurt after jumping out of the window. Why are you the one here?” Getting nothing but the beeping sounds from the machines in response, Seb ran his hands through his hair in frustration. “Seriously, why are you doing this to me? I told you were going to get through this together so why- Forget it, I’m going to get mad at you properly when

It was late already and Seb had almost given up on Alex returning his calls when he finally had his phone ring, signifying an incoming call from him. He was probably unable to sleep, still worried about everything that happened so fast and finally ready to speak to him, he thought and without hesitation, swiped to pick the call. "Hey." Much to his surprise, he didn't hear the familiar voice of his boyfriend over the phone. Instead, it was the voice of a woman, seeming grown and oddly sounding familiar. "Hello?" "Blue?" He asked in confusion. On hearing the voice for a second time he was sure it wasn't Alex who was speaking. "Is that you?" "Sebastian, is that you?" The person said in return. "It's me, Carol. Alex's aunt." He heaved a sigh of relief and almost immediately, had his heartbeat quicken again. "Carol?" "Yes, it's me," she confirmed. "Um, Alex left his phone behind so I just wanted to ask if he was at your place." "What?" Seb's heart stopped for a second. "What did y

“Alex, are you-” Alex eyes immediately flew open, glancing at Seb on top him almost naked and then his aunt by the door, eyes widened, frozen in shock and horror. “Oh my God,” Alex immediately gasped, Seb reflexly getting off him. Lowering his t-shirt to cover his upper body, he got off his bed and looked at Carol. “Aunt Carol-” She raised her hand to stop him from talking then sent her gaze to the floor. Unable to bring herself to look at them, she shook her head and immediately turned to leave the room without uttering a single word. “Shit,” Alex cursed the minute she left, realization hitting him all over again. He kept on cursing, his hands running through his hair as he did. “Shit, shit.” “Hey,” Seb quickly put on his shirt then walked towards Alex. “Hey, calm down.” “What?” Alex gave him a quick glance before shaking his head. “How am I supposed to do that? Don’t you realize what just happened? Did you see the look on her face?” “Blue-” “She looked horrified,” Alex sho

The next few weeks went by rather quickly. It was the finally the first day of a new semester and both Alex and Seb were fully prepared. Having spent the past few weeks together, they had both gotten extremely used to each other’s presence. Alex: See you at school then! Replying Seb’s last message, Alex grabbed his backpack and headed downstairs. Ever since he got back from London, his closeness with Seb had been visibly obvious to even his aunt. Though she thought they were nothing but good platonic friends, Alex had no intention of changing her mind any time soon. “Good morning, Aunt Carol,” announcing his presence with a greeting, Alex took a seat on the dining right opposite his cousin. “Morning, Alex,” she replied him with the same ever cheerful voice. “Was just about to have Lucas call you. So how’s it going? Ready for a new semester? Wow, it feels like it was just yesterday you moved here.” “Well,” he couldn’t say the same though. A lot had happened since he moved in. A

Alex woke up with a smile on his face. He turned, feeling Seb’s grip around his waist tighten and chuckled in return, memories of the previous night flooding back. The non-existent distance between them gave him the opportunity to stare at Seb to his heart’s content. He was sleeping so peacefully, with his arms wrapped around his waist. His chest and whole body was bare, Alex blushing at the sight. “How long are you going to be staring at me for?” “You,” Alex faked a scowl. “When would you stop pretending to be asleep?” “Never,” he nuzzled Alex’s hair, pulling him even closer. “I love watching you watch me.” “That makes no sense.” “Maybe,” Seb smiled. “How are you?” Blinking at Seb’s randomness, Alex thought of a reply. He was a lot of things. Happy, sore- to name a few. “I’m great. How about you?” In response, Seb had his fingers caress Alex’s face. He smiled, uttering no words as he allowed himself get lost in the moment. He liked him so much. So much he felt like his h

Immediately after breakfast, Alex and Seb stepped out of their hotel room to get into the car to head to Alex’s old home. The ride was silent and Seb could easily notice how nervous Alex was. At intervals, he pressed his lips together, rubbed his palms against each other and had sighs escape his lips an unusual amount of times. Seb on the other hand, wasn’t sure on how to feel. It was frustrating for him to watch Alex panic and eventually, ended up holding his hand throughout the ride trying to make him feel better. “You can pull over here,” Alex said, letting go of Seb’s hands. “We’re only a stroll away now.” “Okay,” Seb nodded then pulled over. He watched him unclasp his seatbelt, did the same and stepped out of the car after Alex.True to Alex’s words, they were right in front of the house after only walking past a few blocks. He stopped, took a deep exhale then walked to the main entrance. Hesitating for a while, Alex took the keys out of his pocket and shoved it into the ke

“Good morning.” “Hey,” Alex replied, slowly opening his eyes to the light as Seb opened the curtains. “Good morning.” “Did I wake you?” Seb asked, adjusting the blinds. “I mean do you want to get some more sleep?” “No, it’s fine I’m up already,” Alex replied then sat up, watching Seb give the blinds a final tug before walking to take a seat next to him. “How long have you been up?” “About thirty minutes ago?” Seb answered, stroking Alex’s dishevelled hair. “You were sleeping so peacefully so I didn’t want to wake you up.” “How about you? Were you able to sleep well?” “Mhm mhm,” Seb nodded. “Thanks to your hug I was able to sleep like a baby.” “You mean you shit your pants and cried all night?” “Hell no,” Seb laughed then got up. “You know what I mean.” “Yeah,” Alex smiled, glad Seb’s mood was better. “I should get up and get ready.” “Yeah you should do that,” Seb replied him. “I have some spare clothes you can change into.” “Alright.” He headed to the bathroom and after fe

"A quick check, we'll be going over to your dad's by 7, right?" "But before then, we've got the whole day to ourselves, baby," Seb spread his arms wide. "This is London! Let's tour this city to our hearts content!" After cuddling the whole previous night, it was only expected of Seb to wake up feeling extra giddy. The version of him reluctant to visit his dad had gone up into smoke, leaving a very ecstatic Seb behind. "I should be the one giving you a tour," Alex said as they stepped out of their room. "You're the foreigner here." "Oh, please," Seb dramatically said. "We don't know we're pretty much the same in that case. Throughout your nineteen years of living here, I'm pretty sure you visited only a handful of places here." "How dare you." "Or if you don't mind we could try counting all of them on my fingers," Seb stretched out his arm. "Oh my, I don't think I'll be needing an extra hand." "Shut up," Alex glared playfully at him. "Fine. But I better be blown away by the end o
