Chapter 22. The Bond

Walter understood what she meant from the way Merry looked at him. Merry did not want to talk about this with Lance and Ryn. And it seemed that what had happened was what he had thought. Walter reached out to her wound.

"How bad is it?" Walter asked.

"Just a claw wound. He lunged at me. Luckily, Ryn came and saved me," Merry replied.

"Ryn?" asked Walter, to which Merry nodded in reply.

There was anxiety in his eyes. It meant that Albert already knew that Ryn lived there, so it could not be ignored. Albert would come back to attack them.

"Ryn hit him with a wooden block when he was about to tear me apart, but I couldn't avoid this wound," Merry explained while half-raising his injured hand.

Walter licked his lips as he sighed softly. He was relieved that Merry was not seriously injured. However, it did not put him at ease, as the threat could come again. He turned his body toward Lance after a while.

"Tell the others to be on guard until morning!" he ordered.

Lance replied with a singl
