In a room that was made out of black stones. Heat from the smelter and furnace filled the room. Smell of coal and burning iron pierced the noses of those who entered, yet it was nothing but normal air to the dwarves that work here.
Sparks from hammer hitting blades. Metallic banging repeatedly came into their ears. Hissing sound from hot metal being dipped into water. It was an everyday process for them.
A certain dwarf who placed himself in a separate workshop was examining the blade of his freshly sharpened sword. He checked the straightness, the blade, the guard and the handle. He grunted when he was unsatisfied with his work.
Suddenly the door to his workshop was opened which made him angry.
Without even letting the human speak, he spoke first. “What is it!”
“Boss, there a guy who wants to-”
“Can’t you handle him yourse
After a tiring day of preparing, Matthew finally headed back to the mansion.“Hah… Everything’s ready. I can get some rest now.” Matthew murmured to himself.Upon entering the mansion, he checked the time. It was about time for dinner already. He sniffed himself a few times.“Yeah, it should be fine to have dinner first.” He convinced himself as he headed for the dining hall.Matthew opened the door and saw the maids were just about done preparing the table for dinner. Cecilia was also there already, sitting on one of the chairs.“Oh Matthew, you’re back!” Cecilia greeted him when he entered the hall.“Hey. Is Yuki at the hospital?” Matthew asked as he took his seat.“Yes, she left a while ago already. Where have you been?”Matthew froze up
Matthew fastened the baldric of his sword on his waist and tightened the straps of his gauntlets. Then he tugged his jacket as if feeling cool doing it.“You’re good to go?” Layla asked.“Yup.” Matthew answered while he put on his backpack.“Did you tell them yet?”Matthew paused for a moment. “Well yes, but actually no. I left a note for them though.”“Fair enough. Anything else you need before going? You could check out my shop for anything, you know?”“Haha thanks, but no I don’t think I need anything else. I’m just gonna go pick up my sword and head straight to the quest point.”“Alright, good luck then and come back intact at least.”“Sure, I’ll do my best! I’ll be going now, bye!” Matthew
Somewhere at the edge of the forest, just outside the city walls by the checkpoint. Matthew and Bran were waiting by the road. Bran was just examining his greatsword while Matthew only watched.Bran did not have that big of a body size. So seeing him wielding a greatsword did not seem quite right. Even Matthew himself could not really picture himself holding a big sword like that.“Hey.” Matthew broke out of his trance when Bran suddenly spoke. “Matthew, right?”“Yes?”“How long have you been a Hunter for?” Bran asked out of the blue.“A few months. Why?” Matthew was a bit surprised when he asked.“You’re already Rookie rank. How is that possible?”“I was instantly promoted from the start because of my performance.”Bran stopped
A few days earlier,Inside a waiting room within the Hunter Association Headquarters. Sara was sitting on a couch in a polite and proper way, suited for a maiden such as herself. Her eyes threatened to fall shut on her but she kept her focus up as best she could. She raised her head when she heard the door open. A staff member of the Association was the one behind it.“Miss Whitegate, the president will see you now.” The staff said.Sara only gave a nod before standing up. She then followed the staff to the Association President’s office. The staff opened the door for her and let her enter while she stepped back and closed the door after Sara had entered. The office was the same every time she entered. The only difference she ever noticed would be the amount of paper on the president’s desk. Which was never too much to begin with, but today it was seemingl
A few days later,Jack was waiting by a junction in the streets. He was wearing a pair of sunglasses and just simple casual clothes. He looked at his watch from time to time while he tapped his finger with his arms crossed.“You seem impatient.” The voice of the person he had been waiting for finally arrived.“You’re late.” He said as he looked at the woman. She wore a plain white dress with a white sun hat which enhances her beauty even more. She tipped her hat up a bit as she spoke. “You never specified a time. Just in the morning.”“We’re both on a tight schedule here. Let’s go.” Jack walked ahead of her first.Their destination was already in view. The Crane’s Mansion, also known as Cecilia’s mansion. Once they were near the gate of the mansion, they w

The wyvern landed on solid ground with a thud. The Hunters on its back jumped down with their own thud each time. They then took off the straps of their bags and took them down from the wyvern as well.Izz was the last to get down and he patted and stroked the wyvern’s neck, comforting it. “Get some rest boy.” The wyvern bellowed softly before disappearing like particles into thin air.Shim Boon put on his backpack then looked at the sky. It was slightly cloudy but the sun was still shining bright at it’s high point.“Let’s get going, we’re losing daylight here!” He shouted to the others as he turned around. “Wait, where’s Bran?” He noticed that he was gone.“Oh, he said he needed to get it out of his system.” Matthew said.“Really, guess we should’ve warned him first. How are you feeling, n
Shim Boon was searching between the bushes for the items needed. He picked leaves, flowers, branches and fruits from certain trees. As he went about his job, he was wondering if the two newbies were doing fine.“Maybe I shouldn’t have made them split up?” He asked himself. So far, he has only done this job with much more experienced people. He checked the time on his watch. It was about twenty minutes since they started. The Managone on his waist was only just starting to give a small glint. He had a little bit more time before he had to change his canister. He pushed away the leaves and branches in his way that led him to a path. Something caught his eyes.“Footprints?”Indeed and not one of animals. It was the barefoot of a humanoid. It led back down the path, towards the campsite.“These don’t look fresh, but....&r
