Matthew opened his eyes and saw that he had returned to the location where he and Rose first came to this world. It was the exact same scene.

“This place again. Why am I dreaming of it? What actually happened?” Matthew didn’t know that he was knocked out when he confronted the Kraken.

“Matthew, son of Mark.” A voice echoed from all around. No, it was multiple voices without a source.

“Who’s there?” Matthew asked.

“Why, you’ve already forgotten about me? The world tree?” The voice said.

Mentioning the world tree, Matthew knew who it was. It truly has been some time since then.

“Yggdrasil?”

“So you do remember.”

“What is it? Did you bring me here?”

“Hmm, you could say that. It took a great deal of effort to bring you here. Had you not been knocked out, I couldn’t have possibly met you.”

“I was knocked out? How?”

“You faced your fated foe while you were unprepared and were defeated quite easily.”

“My… fated foe?” Matthew had so many questions that his mind was a haze now.

“Yes. Leviticus

An armada of pirates were pushing through the Merman Army and were close to the capital now. The Merman Army were not able to hold them off. By their commander’s order, they retreated back and regrouped with reinforcements from the Reptile Clan’s army.Reinforcements from the Shark Clan were still quite aways so they had to hold the enemy off until then. The Red Eye Pirates were full of capable fighters especially their ship captains. Even one of the captains can create weather changing attacks.Halcyon created strong gusts of wind with each swing of his spear. The winds created massive waves that kept knocking his enemies off balance. Flying high above water, it was difficult to hit him. With his support and scouting from above, he was able to direct Morozko on where to place the rest of the crew.Kirilov had a gun for his left arm and blasted powerful jets of water out of it, puncturing holes in the bodies it hit. He held a large blade in his right hand and swung furiously at his en

  • BLAIR   Chapter 291: Destroyer's Arrival

The biggest ship in the armada, the Morozko’s ship ripped through any defences the Cobalt Army had with ease. Morozko commanded the ocean itself with a special pole shaped device he stole from the treasury at one point in his life. Of course, the area he could control was still limited, otherwise he could destroy the kingdom. The soldiers that were able to confront him directly were met with their demise as his strength was far superior. His skin was more durable than armour and his punch was greater than a cannon. The crew on his ship was also formidable. The capital was now within sight and Morozko commenced the barrage of cannon fire at it. Each ship was equipped with a large cannon just below the bow and it fired large balls of steels.“Fire!”BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!The steel balls were fired and flew across the water but did not hit the buildings. A barrier stop

  • BLAIR   Chapter 292: That Was Pretty Bad

Matthew was engaged by two opponents who were making the best of their environment. As someone who was not accustomed to underwater battle, Matthew was at a disadvantage.Utilising his new skills, Matthew was able to stand his ground. Arshild moved the shields to block all incoming attacks with Draco's guidance. Somehow, Draco was able to perceive the attacks that Matthew couldn't. Matthew didn't think much about it for now.Matthew fired beams of astra at Kirilov and it hit him though Matthew himself was not sure if it did. Blue blood was seeping out of the holes that Matthew blew in his body.(How the hell does he know where I am? My skill should be perfect!) Kirilov thought to himself.Pshew!Kirilov fired another pressured water shot at Matthew. It was blocked by one of the three shields he had around him. Matthew fired back and it almost hit Kirilov if he didn't dodge.(Not only can he tank my attacks, he's got those shields as well. And if I stop moving I'll get hit instead. Thi

On the other side of the battle, the Cobalt Royal Army were able to hold off the attack by the citizens under Kraken’s control. Although they were having trouble with subduing the citizens, the soldiers caught most of them and tied them up. Cretoxarinh and Kraken were still duking it out while Cobalt was still working on cancelling the mind control spell casted on Kraken.(How long has it been? An hour might’ve passed and I wouldn’t notice it. I’ve almost got the spell undone. Seriously, whoever crafted this must have a vast knowledge in magic. I can only think of three people that can pull this off, but why are either of them doing this?)Cobalt shook the thoughts away. (Maybe Matthew knows something. I will just ask him later.)While Cobalt was busy, Cretoxarinh bit down Kraken’s tentacle and severed it. It swam away with the tentacle in its mouth while swallowing it. After that, it turned around to attack again. Its body generated electricity and was unleashed when it got close to

Splash!Matthew emerged on the surface after defeating the three right hand men. The waves were violent and threw him around. The ships were still bombarding the barrier but it seemed that there was little to no effect."Cobalt's shield sure is tough, huh?" Matthew commented.:The capital should be fine as long as the barrier holds up. You should take out the rest of the pirates now: Draco said.“Yeah. I should take out the captain first. Without the leader, the rest should fall too. Now, where are you?” Mathew asked himself as he expanded his [Astral Sense] and found Morozko’s location. “There.”Matthew conjured the chained blade again. He spun the blade above his head by the chain and threw it toward Morozko’s direction. The blade pulled him along with the chains and Matthew flew across the ocean. On the other end, Morozko was contemplating on how to get over the barrier. It actually seemed like the barrier just got stronger.“What’s happening? Did Cobalt reinforce the barrier?” Mor

A few days have passed since the pirate invasion took place. The people of the Deep and Whale Clans have all returned to their separate territories after receiving proper treatment. The pirates were brought back to the capital to be judged accordingly. Some were sent to imprisonment for life, some for a few years, and others were sent to public services.Matthew finally returned to the palace after helping out with the pirates. He was given a medal of honour for his contribution to the battle as a citizen, not as a Hunter since it was not a quest. Kraken was also present to offer her apologies to the people. Cobalt was also invited, but as expected she rejected and went to rest in her home. After the ceremony, Matthew was summoned by Shima to his office. Matthew closed the door behind him after he went in. Shima was waiting by his desk. He gave Matthew a smile.“Please have a seat.” Shima offered.“No thanks. I want to leave as soon as possible. I’ve got a ride waiting for me.” Matthe

Matthew set off to continue his journey to Phulu with Cretoxarinh’s aid. Thanks to a device that Shima gave, Matthew stayed dry even underwater with his stuff included. A trip that would’ve taken a few days by ship was done in only one with Cretoxrinh.Once they were in shallow water and Cretoxarinh couldn’t proceed further, Matthew decided to continue on his own. After bidding farewell, Matthew activated the back propeller that he was also given. It was certainly faster than swimming, but it was still a bit slower than Cretoxarinh. To make up for this, Matthew threw in some astra into it and juiced it up-Bwoo!A bit too much.“Whoa!” Matthew soared through the water at an alarming speed and before he knew it, his face was being dragged in wet sand, then dry sand, and finally crashed into a boulder. The boulder was blown to bits and Matthew’s head was thankfully intact. It did scratch the glass on his mask though.“Oof!” Matthew lifted his head out of the rubbled and looked around. T

The sun had set on Phulu and smoke rose out of the chimney of houses. Matthew was invited by the chief to have a feast at her house. It was not a feast for the entire village since it was so sudden. The ones that were present were only the students from earlier, some higher ranking villagers and of course the chief’s own children. The villagers paid their respects by bowing to Matthew and offering their own food. Matthew did not like being treated like some kind of deity, but telling them would be useless since he didn’t know the language. He accepted them all and set them aside. While waiting for the feast to be prepared, Matthew played with the children. They invited Matthew to play football when he walked by. Their teacher, who was supervising them, was actually about to scold them. Matthew interfered and said it was fine.Obviously, the children were no match for Matthew although he lacked any skills. Matthew decided to be a goalkeeper. With him as the goalie, none of the shots ma

Another demon with about the same features as Crymillia except that his hair was short and he wore a black cloak over his suit. Then there was a man with spiky red hair in a red robe with a high collar, Crone, the one that Matthew and his friends fought at the Great Sandcastle. Finally, there was the black feathered avian human, Skystorm.Seeing Skystorm in good health, M

Confronting Bilgrae now was what he expected to see from a Dragon Emperor.Matthew was now at maximum output of his astra and all of it was condensed in his body. Bright red scales covered his entire body and he grew slightly in size. His muscles became more toned and also increased in size. A pair of horns of a darker tone of red grew out of his forehead that curved to the back of his head. Both of his eyes were glowing golden as his hair was.“Let’s finish this!” Matthew did not delay any further. He couldn’t maintain this form for long so he must finish the fight quickly.Matthew dashed toward Bilgrae who was ready for Matthew. Their fists clashed again and this time, not only was Bilgrae pushed back, he felt pain in his knuckles. Matthew was much stronger than before and far faster too. Utilising his speed, Matthew went for another punch to Bilgrae’s gut.“Oof!” Bilgrae got the air knocked out of him with the first hit.Matthew followed up with a barrage of punches. Bilgrae truly

After being blown away by Skystorm’s wind, Matthew regained his footing and was met with the big lizardman, Bilgrae Scarlett. Bilgrae had a smirk on his face. Matthew stood up and faced Bilgrae, but his eyes were not on him. Matthew’s eyes fell on Falynx in the far distance.“Are you still concerned about that monster?” Bilgrae asked with his deep voice.Matthew looked at Bilgrae now. “It’s hard to know which one is the monster here.”“Heh, you’re right. All of us are monsters deep inside. It just takes one misstep to turn a person into one. You’ve been there too.”“No I haven’t.”“Maybe not to you. But the whole world saw you as one. Now that monster suddenly turned into an emperor and they suddenly glorified you, while some still hate you of course.”“Hmph.” Matthew huffed.“You’re angry with me, I understand. I purposely did not kill that beast. Out of compassion.”“Don’t lie. You Scarletts don’t know what that means.”Bilgrae wasn’t smiling anymore. “You don’t know how merciful fa

Akame and Skystorm were separated from Matthew and Bilgrae. Akame stood up after being blown away by the powerful gust of wind created by Skystorm. Their eyes met. Both of their irises were bright red and gazed deeply.“I will be your foe, Red Cardinal.” Skystorm said.“What relic will you take? What will you use it for?” Akame asked.“Straight to the questions huh… That’s not any of your business. Why would you care what we take anyway if you’ll die?”“To evaluate whether it’s worth fighting for or not.”“Hmm, a smart choice. If you don't want to fight, then I shant confront you. Sadly, it seems that Lord Dragunov disagrees with you. If he is in the way, then we must remove him. I don’t think that leaves you an option now.”Backing out from this would mean that Matthew will be fighting two people. If they weren’t among the Scarlett Army’s strongest, it probably wouldn’t be hard for him to deal with alone. Both of their foes were really strong and Akame had no expectation of defeating

After their encounter with Falynx, they reached an agreement to conduct an investigation as they intended. Falynx had flown back to the surface on its own. Matthew and Akame headed to the temple and arrived at the front door. For some reason, even though they were underground, it was as clear as day down here. It was not dark and not too bright either, like a cloudy day. There were stairs that led to the door and the walls in the area were already partially destroyed. Some of the stairs were also gone. The giant door was made of stone and seemed to be intact with little cracks around the hinges.Matthew pushed one of the doors open. It was surprisingly heavy so Matthew had to lean into it to move it. Akame went inside first and inspected the place. There was a stage and a podium carved out of stone at the end of the great hall. A mural was carved out of the wall behind the stage depicting a supposed god holding the sun in his hands.Matthew left the door open and joined Akame to look

In the middle of the desert, there were two figures running across the sands. Clouds of sand were left behind in their quick steps. The cloak provided by the minister was really working. No sand was sticking onto them.“We’re getting close.” Matthew informed Akame.Almost two hours have passed since they left the city. Many monsters came their way but they were easily dealt with. It caused a little delay but not enough to affect their momentum. Falynx’s presence was still about 10 kilometres away.“Be ready for battle.” Akame said.“Remember though, don’t kill it.” Matthew reminded her.A few minutes later, a gigantic figure could be seen flying in the sky. The creature had the body of a snake, the head of a crocodile and six pairs of batwings. Its yellow eyes with black vertical slits looked down at the incoming people below.Falynx bowed its head and began descending. Matthew and Akame saw this as an engagement in battle. Matthew called out the Dragoknight to his arms and increased

The sun was already high up in the sky in the Capital City of Kubalt. The weather was hot and dry as usual in San Coro. The street around this particular area was not that busy since it was right in front of the Palace of Al-Jauhara. One would occasionally see knights patrolling the area. Akame was waiting under the intense heat of the sun. She had covered herself in a large black cloth to protect herself from the heat. The guards out here only wore light armour compared to the ones inside, probably because their armour would be too hot to wear outside. Not too long after, she finally saw the one she was waiting for. Matthew was jogging toward her. He wore his long sleeved red hooded jacket and an orange shirt under it and a pair of black pants. He also had his usual travelling backpack with him. “Phew, sorry, did you wait long?” “Not too long. Did you not use a teleportation scroll?” Akame asked. “I did, but the closest one was to Yanbue City. Neither Platinum nor Rose were famil

“What brings you here, Akame?” Matthew asked.Just a few moments ago, Akame had arrived in front of Platinum’s cave. Someone like who was a Coloured Hunter, passing through the Blackwood Forest and up the cold mountain was not a problem. Or not.Akame was hugging herself to keep warm but it was not helping at all. “Achoo! C-can we talk somewhere warmer?”“Oh, come on in.” Matthew invited her inside.Akame went in and they both made their way to the living room. Matthew didn't think that it was alright to bring her to the others directly. The living room had a fire to keep them warm, so here was enough.“Ah~” Akame warmed herself up by the fire and put her hands out.“So, what are you doing here without equipment to survive on a mountain? Certainly you didn’t come to interview us?” Matthew asked.“Queen Cleopatra sent me. We will investigate the ruin she mentioned together.” Akame said with the same emotionless voice as usual.“Cleopatra? Well, I was gonna head there in a few days anyw

Matthew and Rose arrived at the foot of the mountain just by the Blackwood Forest where they dropped off of the carriage while Guinevere headed back to her palace. It was already very late in the afternoon when they got to the forest. Matthew carried Rose's luggage in hands while he also wore his backpack."I can carry my own stuff." Rose said."No, I will carry them for you. Anyway, are you sure you'll be fine?""My magic resistance is quite high. I also know how to disperse mana if it does accumulate inside me. How long exactly is it going to take to get up there again?" Rose looked up at the ledge near the mountain peak where Platinum's abode was."Well, usually only a few hours if you're moving at my usual speed. If we're walking though, a few days at least." Matthew said."But we're not walking, right?" Rose asked."Nope." As Matthew replied, a shadow flew past over them.A jade green dragon circled them as she descended to the ground nearby.
