Zaria North's POV

As soon as Arthur and I were both out of the Alpha's office, he grabbed my right hand and said, “Don't go.”

I gave him a questioning look. “What the hell are you talking about?”

“We can both beg the Alpha and she'll give you the chance to stay.”

I scoffed at that. “Arthur, stay away from me. Don't give me the chance to become mad at you, you're not going to like it.” I said.

“Well it's okay,” he said. “Get mad at me all you want but there's no way I'm going to allow you to take on a death sentence.” He said, causing me to sigh.

“Look Arthur—”

“—Three years, Zaria. Three years I've tried to be at your side but you never once gave me the opportunity to. I don't know how to be there for you anymore. You know the task the Alpha gave you is deadly. How the hell are you going to cope with it for goodness sake! You could even loss your life!”

“I don't care,” I replied firmly even though my insides were wallowing and shaky.
