CHAPTER 6: RACHEAL’S RESOLVE

I knew where she was coming from with all these, but I had no intentions of coming to hurt my own daughter, nor would I want to cause any chaos. But I had no idea how I was going to convince her that I just wanted to get to know my daughter.

"Please, Racheal, give me a chance; I just want to get to know my daughter.” I pleaded.

Racheal’s POV

Seeing Benjamin here and the way he keeps begging kept pissing me off, I don’t ever want him close to Kyla, someone who treated me with so much disrespect in the past. Will he ever be able to love Kyla? I need to find a way to get him out of my house as soon as possible. “Give me a moment, Benjamin.” I spoke politely. I picked up my phone and texted two of my junior officers at the office, telling them to come over to my house because I needed them to arrest someone for me. They agreed to come, and normally it will take them about 15 minutes before they get to my house.

I dropped the phone as I looked at Benjamin. “Why should I believe you only want a chance to get to know Kyla genuinely without taking her away from me?” I wanted to stall him until my colleagues arrived.

“I promise you, I have no intentions of doing that; I only just want to be in my daughter’s life, nothing more. Please give me a chance.” He answered with a sincere look in his eyes. I looked at Kyla, and I could tell she was also interested in getting to know him. She wasn’t saying much, but she was invested in the conversation between me and Benjamin.

I continued stalling when suddenly my doorbell rang. I could tell it was the colleague that I had called over to arrest him. I got up and went straight to the door.

“Come in.” I said so as soon as I saw my colleagues.

“Where is the man we are going to arrest?” One of the officers asked me.

At this point, I didn’t want them to arrest Benjamin because I knew he would just come back anyway and easily bail himself out.

“Don’t arrest him; just throw him out of my house and ask him never to come back here.” I responded.

“Yes ma’am.” They both responded as they saluted me. I led them over to where Benjamin was sitting.

“This is him; throw him out!” They grabbed Benjamin by both arms.

“You are trespassing, sir; she doesn’t want you here!” One of the officers yelled at Ben.

Benjamin had a confused look on his face. I knew he never expected that I would do something like this to him, but what does he expect? After all he has done to me, he expects that I will just welcome him into my house? Never.

“Racheal! I thought you wanted to work this out? You let me into your house willingly." Benjamin said it in a loud tone.

“I would have never let you in. I was scared that you were going to harm me.” I replied.

The officers threw him outside my house as he landed on the pavement with his face downward.

Benjamin raised his head as he looked at me. I could see the frustration on his face.

“Racheal, please don’t go down this path; let me get close to my daughter; that’s all I’m asking for; I’m not asking for much,” he pleaded, folding his hands together. This was the first time I was seeing him beg for something this way, but I was not about to be fooled by all that; I’m sure he has never changed from who he used to be.

“Get away from my family! I don’t want you coming close to me or my daughter! I can never forgive you for what you did to me in the past; please get the fuck away from here!” I yelled at him. I hope hearing this will help him come to his senses and leave me alone.

“Racheal, please, I’m begging you. I don’t want to have to do something we would both regret; I just want to be in my daughter's life, that’s all.” He pleaded with a soft look on his face.

“Escort him far away from here!” I ordered my colleagues. They helped Benjamin get up from the pavement and escorted him onto the open road.

And just like that, I watched as he got a taxi and left.

Benjamin’s POV

I arrived back in my hotel room devastated and angry from everything that transpired at Racheal’s house.

I thought she was finally going to give me a chance to get to know my daughter, whom she had hid from me all these years. What am I going to do now? I can’t just give up on getting to know my daughter that easily.

I started pacing back and forth trying to figure out what I’m going to do. Getting the court involved in this is not going to be a good idea; if I do that, it would get messy, and my daughter is old enough to understand what might happen, so that is not an option at all. My daughter might despise me in the process. I just need to extend my stay in Rome and keep trying to beg Racheal; she needs to see a reason to allow me access to my daughter. I will need to find her station.

I picked up the hotel landline and called them, telling them to extend my stay to 3 weeks more. I hope I don’t spend that long here, but I need to do anything to get close to my daughter. Racheal will have to forgive me for everything I did to her in the past and let me be a part of my daughter’s life. Abigail is going to be worried about me, but I don’t need to worry about that for now; I have more important things to focus on.
