Amanda POV
The bed feels empty. Even with my eyes closed, I could feel the emptiness gripping my heart. It was something I could not control because it had become a part of my life for years.
I should have gotten used to it by now. But no. The feeling intensified over the years. This feeling of discontent. This unhappiness.
To assuage the feeling, I let my hands wander to the other side, trying to feel the body that gave me incomparable pleasure the night before.
As usual, I didn’t find anyone.
Slowly, I let my eyes open.
Disappointment slowly crept in.
It had a
Amanda POVWhen we got off our high, I turned to him to ask languidly.“I thought you left for work?”Adam, since the day he kidnapped me at the airport, had been coming home to me every night. He spends the night and makes love to me without saying anything. By morning, he would leave. We didn’t get back. He never implied anything to clarify what was happening between us, but I was hoping and dreading it, at the same time.Instead of replying to my question, Adam grunted and rolled off from me. Then, he settled on his back.I watched him longingly and felt a pinprick of pain in my chest. So near, yet so far.Adam is like my moon. He was so near. I could almost touch him, but when I reached out my arms, he was unattainable. So far.Adam again rolled on the bed. Now, he was lying face down on the bed. His hand moved to my chest. I thought he would fondle my b*easts, bu
Adam POVAmanda looked catatonic with her unblinking eyes staring off into space.I snapped my finger in front of her face to get her attention. It did nothing to rouse her from the mental abyss she got stuck in.Seriously, Amanda looked shocked.“Hey,” I nudged her.
Adam POVI turned around after cutting the call with my assistant, Jared, and met Amanda's questioning gaze.I called my assistant to leave instructions for the pilot and to get the company's private helicopter ready for my trip with Amanda.“Where are we going?” She asked.I smiled, knowing she had been eavesdropping. She ignored my reaction and pretended she did not notice. She waited until I finally answered her question.“To Vegas. I am marrying you today.” I told her, gunning for the surprise. Then, I watched her face, gauging her reaction. She looked shookt. Now, it was my turn to pretend I did not see her reaction. I walked to her closet to take out a spare shirt, slacks, and underwear I kept there.I noticed that in a short time,
Amanda’s POVI am hurting him.I could see how hard he was trying to control himself. My reluctance to marry him hurts the man I loved with all my heart.I closed my eyes.I didn’t want to be scared, but so many questions nagged my brain. For years, I thought that I didn’t deserve to be happy. My condition prevented me from doing things normal girls would do at my age. Until we found the right donor.Imagine being given hope one minute and dashing it the next. That was how I felt when I found a heart donor in Margareth. Because her act of goodness, though it would extend my life – would mean cutting off the air from me.I had to leave Adam to fulfill Margareth’s wish.I had a chance to prolong my life at the cost o
Caleb POV“You’re getting married?” Cassy shrieked in surprise, but I could feel her elation while she talked on the phone. She was grinning from ear to ear, too.I wouldn’t have to hazard a guess. It's not that hard to know that the news bearer was none other than her brother, Adam.I looked at my wife. She had this expression of contentment on her face. Her happiness is infectious. It made me smile watching her. When my mother brought up what happened to me three years ago, I thought she would never talk to me again after keeping that very important information from her.But she didn’t.When we got out of my father’s chambers, she hugged me too tight. She did not say anything, just hugged me like she never wanted to let me go.
Caleb POVWhen Cassy emerged from the bathroom wearing the flimsiest flaming red two-piece, I very nearly jumped on her.I can’t take my eyes off her.Cassy was so hot even after bearing two kids for me.She faltered when she saw my intense gaze and covered her upper body with the folded towels she would bring for the kids.I laughed, seeing her self-conscious reaction.“If you keep hiding from me, I will make sure you are never going to leave this room,” I warned her.Cassy threw the towels on the bed to face me, hands on her hips.“And do you think your children will let you cage me?”Cassy sassily shook her head. “Na-uh! Oakley will beat down the door until we open it for her. Want to try?” She challenged.I smil
Cassy POV“What took you so long?” I asked Caleb when he and Joachim joined us sometime later.I got a bit worried when I saw the expression on his face.He looked disoriented. There was something about his expression that was a little off. He was not like this when Oakley and I left him and Joachim earlier.“Did something happen?” I asked, not masking my concern as I squeezed his arm.Caleb smiled at the offer of assurance and snaked his arm around my waist.“No. I am just happy to have wonderful kids like Joachim and Oakley.”I arched my brow. “Something happened. Earlier, you wanted to give your kids away. Now you are touting that they are the best kids.” I told him.He laughed. “Even
Cassy POVI got back to the pool after the talk with my parents. I knew they felt burdened by what happened with Caleb’s mom, but Caleb and I don’t blame them. When I got back, the kids quickly splashed me with water, eliciting a loud shriek from me.Caleb was their ringleader. He kept ordering the kids to splash me with cold water while I covered my face, dodging left and right so they wouldn't hit me.The children laughed every time the water hit my body. Amidst their laughter, I felt strong, muscular arms encircling my waist.“Gotcha!” He said.He pulled me towards the kids, and we started playing, jumping on the water and doing a little race, leaving the kids shouting excitedly. At dinner, Adam called Mom to tell our parents about his impromptu wedding in Vegas. We congratulated them.Even the kids congratulated him, but when the call had been dropped,
