Eden’s POV

“Who’s Jacob?” I whispered to Serena as we scuttled down the hall together. I had thought about staying back in my room, but Serena had urged me to come.

And truth be told, my curiosity got the better of me.

Adrian was well ahead of us.

“A classmate. From werewolf school,” she snipped. Her voice had an edge of frustration. She seemed annoyed that she had to go and meet this ‘Jacob’.

“A classmate?” I raised my eyebrow at her. I had a feeling ‘Jacob’ was more than just a classmate, judging by how awkward both Serena and Adrian had been back in my room.

She stopped and looked at me. “Fine,” she finally sighed, rolling her eyes. “He likes me, okay? But I’m not interested. I’ve told him that. Plus he’s a playboy. A real sweet talker. You know the type. Adrian’s warned me about Jacob more times than I can count.”

It was all starting to make sense now. The look on Adrian’s face. The awkward tension between them…

Adrian was upset that Jacob was here. But if that was the case, then

Eden’s POVAdrian left in a huff. He’d seen enough. He’d heard enough. It was perfect.Serena immediately went to follow him, but I grabbed her elbow. “Excuse us for a moment,” I said to Jacob.“Whatev,” he replied.I pulled Serenna to the corner of the room where Jacob couldn’t hear us.“Don’t go after him,” I whispered to Serena.“But you saw him. He was upset. I think…he misunderstood. I don’t want to train with Jacob. That’s the last thing I want to do.”“No, actually, it’s EXACTLY what you want to do.” I fixed her with a mischievous smile.“I don’t understand,” she said, shaking her head.“This is all part of the plan,” I told her.“What plan?” she whispered back.Jacob had returned to the window. His back was to us, with his hands clasped behind his back. He looked over his shoulder and winked at Serena.“You weren’t kidding when you said he’s a playboy,” I whispered.“This isn’t even the worst of it,” Serena sighed. “But I really need to go after Adrian. He looked so mad. I jus

Eden’s POVI had to admit, Adrian was smart. I wasn’t sure how he figured that Zane was the father, but he had.“Please,” I said, knowing there was no use in denying it. “No one can know.”He nodded. “Your secret is safe with me, Eden,” he winked. I had no choice but to trust him.Later, we met up with Serena and Jacob for lunch. I had suggested we all go to lunch together. It was part of my plan to make Adrian jealous so he’d confess his true feelings to Serena.Te-he.I ordered a salad at the counter but Adrian gave me a ‘look’.“Fine,” I sighed, rolling my eyes. He was right. I needed to eat more. For the baby. So I ordered a sandwich and soup, too. When we got to the table, Adrain pulled out my chair for me. Then he scurried back to the counter and brought me my meal.I know he was doing this because he now knew I was pregnant. But I could get used to this!We all chatted for a bit about the warriors and the training.“Eden, I think you should take a few more bites of that sandwic

  • Awakening the Rejected Queen   Chapter 76: The Awful Truth

Zane’s POVI smelled him before I saw him. His musky, obnoxious scent mingling with my sweet Eden’s bread cookies. He has his arm around her! He was leaning in to kiss Eden. MY Eden. Jealousy filled my heart. I didn’t think, I just reacted. I stormed across the room and flung him. He flew through the air and landed on the wall. Thud. He was dazed and went to stand, but I unleashed my Lycan aura. He froze to his spot on the floor. I glared at him. He trembled, unable to move. What a worthless wolf. A coward. Who was this man? Why was Eden flirting with him? Why would she want an inferior wolf like him?He wasn’t even worth his weight in fur. He was no rival for me. Has Eden lost her mind? I pulled Eden to her feet and looked into her eyes. Those gorgeous eyes. I inhaled her scent. Slade yipped around, happy that Eden was near. “Zane!” she said, her eyes wide and shocked. “You broke your promise,” I stated. “I…what…” she asked, disoriented. She looked at the useless wolf o

  • Awakening the Rejected Queen   Chapter 77: Broken Flower Pot

Eden’s POVI didn’t understand.Zane kept insisting that he wasn’t marrying Chloe, yet…He kept her around. I’d seen them together, at the party. She was still staying at his palace. Why? Why keep her by his side if not to marry her?Men. Why do they always seem to love multiple women at the same time? Why do they think it’s okay to share themselves with multiple partners? Once upon a time, I had accepted that. I had believed that ‘that’s just the way it was’.But I wasn’t the same person anymore. Something inside me had changed. I was stronger, smarter, and I valued myself a lot more. I deserved to be loved, TRULY loved by ONE man who loved ONLY me. I refused to share my man with anyone else. I deserved better than that. And I certainly wasn’t going to compete for Zane’s affection. I didn’t want to play that game. If Zane loved me, if he truly loved me, then there could be no Chloe. It was really that simple. But there was Chloe. By his side. ALL. THE. TIME. Maybe Zane wa

  • Awakening the Rejected Queen   Chapter 78: An Impromptu Picnic

Eden’s POV“I…uh…just wanted to apologize.” Serena’s eyes were looking down at the floor. “I shouldn’t have snapped at you in the restaurant like that. I’m embarrassed by my behavior.”“It’s okay,” I assured her. I hadn’t known Serena very long, but if there’s one thing I knew, it’s that she was impulsive. She wore her heart on her sleeve and had a hard time hiding her emotions.“When Jacob asked if Adrian was…was into you…or whatever…I don’t know. I just sort of snapped. I…”“Honestly, Serena. It’s alright. I understand.”Because I did. I had a soft spot for Serena. She was young and naïve. A bit emotional, yes, and temperamental. But only because she loved Adrian. I could see where she was coming from. Adrian had doted on me at the restaurant. He was being protective because of the pregnancy, but Serena didn’t know that. All she saw was the love of her life caring for another woman.I got it. I knew what that felt like. And it didn’t feel good.“Would you like to come in?” I opened

  • Awakening the Rejected Queen   Chapter 79: Always Eden

Adrian’s POVEden was missing.Like, REALLY missing.I hadn’t seen her for two WHOLE days. Everyone in the pack was on high alert. We were trying to stay calm, but where could she have gone? We’d searched everywhere. At least it felt like it.The Lycan King was sending out his best warriors. We were searching 24/7.Has she been kidnapped? But how? By whom? Was she hurt? In danger? Lost?“Perhaps she’s run away,” the Lycan King said. But that didn’t make any sense. Why would she do that? She loved it here. I told him so.“Well, it wouldn’t be the first time,” I thought I heard him mutter under his breath, but I couldn’t be sure.On the afternoon of the second day, I went out to scour the pack’s borders one more time when…I saw Serena. She was walking away from the pack border, back towards the pack. She was walking really quickly, her back turned. Strange. What was Serena doing all the way out here? I hadn’t talked to Serena for the past couple of days. In fact, I hadn’t really seen

Eden’s POVThe chains clanged. I struggled against them.Drip. Drip. That was the only sound – water on the cave walls.I've been locked in this cave for two days now.I was chained to the wall around my ankle. There was a bit of slack, but not much. I had a very limited area to move around in.A very dim lantern sat in the corner, beyond my reach. It didn’t cast much light. I could barely see.Occasionally, someone came in and pushed a plate of food towards me. A cup of water too. But it was too dark to see who it was.I had no idea how I got here. The last thing I remembered was having a picnic with Serena and falling asleep. I must have been kidnapped.I was worried about Serena. Had she been kidnapped too?I’d tried calling out her name, to see if she was chained up somewhere close by.But there’d been no answer.I was anxious for her. Dear, sweet Serena. Was she chained up too? Did she have food and water? Was she scared? Was she hurt?My stomach rumbled.I was no stranger to bei

Eden’s POVHis tongue was wet and gross. I pushed him back. But he pressed into me, forcing my legs open with knees. I was pinned. He fiddled with his zipper.“I bet you taste real good,” he whispered in my ear. “Like vanilla ice cream.”I couldn’t believe this was happening! There was NO WAY I was going to let Jacob rape me. I kicked. I would fight. I would kill him with my bare teeth if I had to. I would…“Jacob, that’s enough.”It was a female voice. Jacob stopped. “Get off Eden,” the voice instructed.“Too bad. You look like someone who needs a good, hard, fuck,” he hissed in my ear before he got up.As he stepped away, he revealed the woman standing behind him.My heart sunk.Serena? But…“I told you not to rape her,” Serena sighed. “Feed her. Bring her water. But do. Not. Touch her. Did I not make myself clear?”“Who put you in charge?” he asked, doing up his zipper. “I don’t take orders. Especially not from a little slut like you.”I gaped in shock.Serena? Jacob? They had plan

Eden’s POVEighteen today. How the time flies by! It seems like only yesterday I was lying on the bed, crying in agony as wave after wave of labor crashed over me. She was a difficult birth, Jupiter. But I made it through, of course.Who could have known the woman she would grow into? She is standing in front of the full-length mirror, admiring herself in her new gown. She’s glorious. Soft, pink cheeks and glacier blue eyes, just like Zara’s. She is the best of witches and the best of wolves – a unique hybrid that brings out both in this fluid, magical way.“Aunty Brinsle and Aunty Astrid?” she asked, looking at my reflection standing behind her. “Are they ready?”“Yes, love,” I tell her. “They are both waiting.” There’s a gentle knock on the door, and as if on cue, Brinsle and Astrid enter.“Oh Jupes,” Brinsle says, rushing to her side. “Look at you. All grown up.” Tears well in her eyes and she turns away.“I told you, no tears today,” Jupiter scolds Brinsle. But then she smiles sof

Jupiter was born with both. She is our daughter and she will one day unite the wolves and the witches. For now, though, she’s just a bright-eyed, mischievous little five year old girl. And she is our world.Brinsle counsels Jupiter on the ways of witches. • Awakening the Rejected Queen   Chapter 408: Epilogue 2 – Adrian and Brinsle

Eden’s POVThe wedding was small but lovely. Zane gave Brinsle away and he was so honored to do so. It was a traditional human wedding, and Brinsle was lovely in her white dress. Adrian was handsome in his traditional human tuxedo. They chose a human wedding because they couldn’t have a werewolf one since Brinsle wasn’t a werewolf and they couldn’t have a witch wedding since Adrian wasn’t a witch. So they chose a human wedding instead. After the ceremony, we all mingled and sipped champagne while the children ran around playing tag on the grassy knoll. I was so happy for Adrian as I watched him great his guests, as was Zane. We both had a soft spot for Adrian and Brinsle. They were family as far as we were concerned. But it hadn’t always been easy. It had been a slow love between Brinsle and Adrian. They were both a bit broken and they both had serious trust issues. Brinsle had a magic that was too powerful for her and a history of lashing out. She had some pretty dark secrets in her

  • Awakening the Rejected Queen   Chapter 407: Epilogue 1 – Lucia and Storm

Eden’s POV“Lucia, how many times I have told you – get off the warrior training grounds!”I giggled. Lucia had a basket in her arms. It was lunch for Storm. I was sure of it. Lucia was notorious for this. She’d just scuttle right out onto the field, a basket full of food for Storm, and completely disrupt his warriors.“But it’s lunch time,” she said, cocking her head to the side.Storm was clearly embarrassed as she shook his head. His warriors smiled slyly. They were used to it. Lucia was a doting wife. She brought Storm lunch every day without fail.I was visiting for our monthly dinner date. Once a month, I made the trek out to see Lucia at her pack, the Santonio Pack. It was a bit of a hike, since her pack boundary was up in the hills. We’d chosen the location because of the view. After spending all those years on the island at the estate, Lucia swore she never wanted to see water ever again. So her pack was built up on the mountain on a flat plateau, surrounded only by tree tops

  • Awakening the Rejected Queen   Chapter 406: A Baby is Born

Eden’s POVI cursed Zane. I cursed sex. I cursed every one in that room and the sun and the moon and anything and everything I could think of. I had known pain in my life, really bad physical pain, but nothing had prepared me for the pain that ripped through my insides every time I had a contraction. We were back in my room. The doctor and several maids were by my side, as well as Astrid and Zane. Those were the only two people I wanted in the room with me. I gritted my teeth and did my best to breathe while contraction after contraction ripped through me. Zane wiped my forehead with cold clothes. Astrid held my hand, even though I was pretty sure I’d broken her fingers with my tight grip.I was only vaguely aware of the time, but I knew it was night.“It’s a long labour,” the doctor said. “I’m sorry, but that’s just the way it goes sometimes.”Outside my window, the guests waited with baited breath. It hadn’t taken long for word to spread right after the crowning that the queen was i

  • Awakening the Rejected Queen   Chapter 405: Eden is Crowned Queen

Eden’s POVI knew we invited a lot of people, but I didn’t really know how many until I saw them all sprawled out there in the garden. Thousands of people, for as far as I could see. Little children waved excitedly as I passed. Little girls giggled and whispered to their mothers:“She’s the most beautiful queen I’ve ever seen.”We walked slowly, through the crowds. I took my time, nodding and smiling as I went along. Everyone smiled back.Once or twice, a strange cramp ran through my stomach and I gripped Astrid’s hand. She looked at me, a worried expression on her face.“Eden, tell me the next time you feel a cramp, okay?” she asked.“Sure,” I said. The walk to the stage took a long time. I was so humbled that this many people had come to see my coronation. Some of them had travelled a very long way. I saw the pile of presents Astrid had commented on. Holy crap was right; it was massive! My eyes swelled. Such generosity from my people.“Oh,” I said, suddenly stopping. It was a cramp

  • Awakening the Rejected Queen   Chapter 404: Coronation Day

Eden’s POVThe sun burst through the window and I bolted out of bed. I was so happy I could sing. It was here, it was finally here! Coronation day!The baby kicked, really hard. I pressed my hand on my stomach.“No no no,” I said. “You be a good girl and stay in there just one more day.” Then I went straight to the washroom to shower.Zane and I had stayed in separate rooms last night. The girls had stayed in my room with me: Astrid, Brinsle, Murietta, Lucia, and Chloe. We’d played silly games and talked late into the night. It had been a perfect evening, with the exception of a few major cramps. It was probably just too much food I told myself. We had, after all, stuffed our faces all night long. The women were still fast asleep when I got out of the shower. I jumped onto the bed and said in a sing-song voice:“Get up! It’s coronation day!”They all groaned. Astrid rolled over sleepily, tossing her arm over her head. “Not yet,” she said.Brinsle sat up immediately, as did Chloe. I’d

Eden’s POVMy mind reeled. A hundred thoughts ripped through my head. My heart and my stomach hurt. There was a baby?A baby with that…witch? But how? Why? This didn’t make any sense. I looked to Brinsle. If anyone would know, besides Zane, it was her. The look on her face said it all – apologetic. There WAS a baby.“Just listen,” Zane said.“You didn’t tell me?” I asked, embarrassed and angry. “You and…her? She’s carrying your baby?”“Eden, please. Just…come with me. Let’s talk.”But I didn’t want to talk. I wanted to run. I wanted to jump back into the lake and swim away again, like I had all those months ago.Had he been unfaithful to me? With a witch? He rushed towards me then and reached for my hand. But I shrugged him off.“I don’t understand,” I said.“So let me explain,” he told me.“Eden?” It was Brinsle. She was suddenly beside me. I felt like the world was spinning. I felt like I was going to be sick. “Just…just hear him out. Okay. It’s not what you think. I promise.”Her e

Eden’s POV“Excuse me?” I asked. The woman stopped in front of us. I was furious. Who the hell did she think she was? This was a private affair! This was an intimate, royal burial for MY mother. What was she talking about?“I’m guessing my invitation got lost in the mail?” the woman asked sardonically. “Zane, Brighton, Alpha so and so, nice to see you all again. Although I wish it were on happier terms.”I let Zane tense beside me. How did she know Brighton? And Zane? And was that my grandfather she was referring to.“What are you doing here?” Zane said, his voice low.“What do you mean?” she asked. “Of course I’m here. You’re burying my sister.”“This is a wolf’s burial. On wolf territory. You’re not welcome here, Lucinda,” Zane hissed.Lucinda?I knew that name. She was the head of the coven, the Falcon Crest Coven. She was the woman who had kept Zane and all the others prisoners. The woman who had personally provided Skylar with the potion for his warriors. What WAS she doing here?
