Aurora's POV
I ran as my legs could take me but the wolves appeared from nowhere and attacked me. I was fighting for my life when another wolf, who came from heaven knows where and attacked the other wolves. I was surprised how just one wolf attacked many wolves till they ran away. I was weak and transformed into a human, I used my hand to cover the intimate part of my body. The person who turned into a wolf turned back into his human form and his guard handed him a long robe and he wore the robe over his body. “Are you that easy to bully?” The person said without facing me. That was the voice I heard earlier. “Get her something to wear from the market,” he instructed one of his guards without sparing me a glance. I was grateful, he respected me and didn't turn but who was this man? What was the reason I could hear his voice? The guard handed me a garment and I wore it. “Are you that weak that you can't fight them off?” he turned to look at me and surprised rather shocked appeared on my face. Lycan King? It was the Lycan King. “You? How did I hear your thoughts?” I asked but he didn't understand what I was saying. “I'm sorry, I don't understand what you are saying, even the people around me don't understand,” The Lycan King's voice showed nothing but concern. I picked up a stick and wrote on the floor, “Thank you for saving me, please take me home.” “Sure,” The Lycan King helped me up, I felt pain in my leg but I Ignored it, “Is your house walkable or we should use the horse?” “Walkable,” I wrote on the floor. I led the way to the house. The Lycan King and I walked side by side to my house and some of his guards were at our front and our back. I threw him a glance, I was trying to understand why I heard his voice but it didn't make any sense and I couldn't explain it to anyone. “I'm sorry about your marriage,” The Lycan King said. I shook my head indicating that I didn't want to talk about the situation. “You moved so did you hear what I said earlier?” The Lycan King asked and I nodded my head. I wanted to ask how he did it but I couldn't. When the Lycan King saw it was useless having a conversation with me, he kept quiet and we walked to my house in silence. “My lady!!!” Elena ran to hug me with tears all over her face, “Where were you?” “I got chased by some wolves of our own pack,” I explained to her and Elena burst into tears. “Are you hurt?” Elena checked my body for any sign of injuries, “Oh you are hurt.” “Take her inside and take care of her,” Father said to Elena. “Lycan King,” Father greeted him with a smile on his face, “I'm sorry for the trouble we caused,” I heard father say before I entered the house. My brain was trying to think of how the telepathy worked between me and the Lycan King while the servant washed and dressed me. “The physician has come,” Scott announced and he entered my room. I let him treat me, I didn't want my family to know I could treat myself with my own herbs and my power. “Is it possible to have telepathy with someone who isn't your mate?” I asked Elena and she turned to look at her husband. “It is but with some people from your pack,” Scott explained. “What of someone outside your pack?” I asked desperately. “Why are you desperate? Did you have a telepathy with someone from outside our pack?” Elena asked, “Who?” I was about to answer when Stepmother entered my room with a letter in her hands, “What did you give to the Lycan King that he sent us an invitation to his 38th birthday which is tonight?” “What does she mean by that?” I asked Elena. “What did she say?” Stepmother asked Elena. “What are you talking about?” Elena said to mother. “Being invited to the Lycan King's birthday is a once in a lifetime opportunity so get ready we will go there tonight,” Stepmother left my room without giving me an opportunity to decline. “I find it weird, I don't want to go,” I pouted. “The madam of the house has instructed so there is nothing I could do about it,” Elena said with a sad face. I understood her, I stood up to change into something good so mother wouldn't pour her anger on Elena. Elena also got ready according to the theme of the party, I always took her everywhere so she could speak for me when needed. “I won't be home tonight,” Indigo said as she came down the stairs in a beautiful dress. “When have you ever been home?” Elena mumbled and rolled her eyes. “Where are you going? I wanted you to go somewhere with us,” Stepmother said as she arranged her dress. “I'm going to the Lycan King's birthday, he invited Alpha Elijah and Alpha Elijah decided to take me as his plus one,” Indigo said with a smile on her face while looking into my eyes and I clenched my teeth in disgust. “Oh we will leave together, the Lycan King invited our family to his birthday because of Aurora,” Stepmother replied. It felt like she was trying to figure out the reason why he invited me to his birthday party. “What?” Indigo looked at me with anger, “Don't worry, Alpha Elijah already sent a carriage for me,” Indigo hissed, she picked up her purse and left the house. “Don't let her get on your nerves,” Father said in sign language so stepmother wouldn't understand and I nodded my head with a smile on my face. “Everything will be alright,” Father touched my head gently and I hugged him. “Father and daughter gossiping in whatever language they chose to,” Mother hissed, “Let's go, the carriage is here.” We arrived at the Lycan King's palace and it was beyond beautiful, the place was very busy and the decorations made it stand out. The palace looks like where someone would get lost. I sat by the corner and watched as everyone greeted themselves with a smile on their face. I didn't know anyone and even if I tried to know anyone I wouldn't be able to speak to them. My fate I guess. My eyes fell on Alpha Elijah, the man my heart still looks for and I watched him walk through the crowd, hand in hand with Indigo around the ballroom with a smile plastered on their faces. I could hear people mock me and say different things about me. I pretended not to care but deep down those words tore me into pieces. I couldn't bear the torture anymore, “Let's say hi to the Lycan King and leave,” I said to Elena. She held my hand and went through the crowd to look for the Lycan King, “Thank you for inviting us, my lady is tired and would like to retire home.” “Thanks for honoring my invitation, please can you stay a bit? I would like to make an announcement,” The Lycan King said politely. “What does his announcement have to do with me?” I asked Elena and she shrugged her shoulders. “Let's just wait a bit and see,” Elena Led me back to the chair we were sitting in earlier. Minutes turned to hours, I was bored and tired but my interest piqued when I heard the Lycan King hit his spoon on the glass bringing everyone's attention to him. “Today, I will grant my son any wish of his since it's his birthday,” An elderly woman, whom I'm assuming to be the Lycan King's mother said with a smile on her face. "My dear Mother," the Lycan King began with a smile on his face, his voice commanding attention. "Tonight, we gather not only to celebrate my birthday but also to mark a new chapter in the pack's history." He pauses, his eyes searching the crowd for someone. "For too long, I have ruled alone, without a queen by my side. But tonight, I declare my intention to change that." “Marriage? That's a good thing, I have dreamt of your marriage with Ava for a long time,” The woman said excitedly. “Ava? Not Ava,” The Lycan King, took two glasses of wine from the maid. The room fell silent, with all eyes on the Lycan King and they were all anticipating who the Lycan King had in mind. He made his way through the crowd and stopped right in front of me and he handed one glass to me. I was surprised but I took the glass from him. "Aurora," He smiled at me, his voice low and husky. I could feel my heart beat rapidly as I was trying to make sense of what the Lycan King was up to. "I want you as my Luna, my mate, and my queen," the Lycan King declares, his voice echoing through the hall and my eyes widened as the glass of wine fell from my hand. "Will you accept my offer, Aurora?”Aurora's POV The ballroom fell into total silence as everyone watched with different expressions on their faces. What was this? What exactly does this man want? I have nothing to offer, so why was he asking for my hand in marriage right in front of everyone? “So will you take my offer, Aurora?” The Lycan King, Tristan asked with a smile on his face. Even at this moment, my eyes searched the crowd for my ex-husband, Alpha Elijah, and he also looked shaken. “That's a rather hastening decision Lycan,” Father stood between us, “And at that in front of everyone.” I let out a breath of relief when I saw Father in my front. Thank goodness, because how would I have dealt with this situation? “I'm speaking to the lady in question. Do you have a problem with that, sir?” Tristan furrowed his left eyebrows. “My daughter is tired and must retire home,” Father bowed his head as a sign of respect, “Elena you should take her home.” I turned back one more time; Father and the Lycan King were
Lycan Tristan's POVI sat on the bed while the maids massaged my legs and my hair with oil.The first time I saw Aurora, there was something about her that intrigued me so badly, and proposing to her at the party last night wasn't part of my plan. It just kinda happened.“What madness was that?” Mother barged into my room.“We should learn to knock,” with a wave of my hand, the maids picked up their things and left my room, “What madness are we talking about?”“Why did you make such an announcement in front of everyone?” Mother scoffed and folded her hands across her chest.“About my marriage?” I stood up, walked to the table, and poured wine into a cup for her, “I thought you would be happy that I was getting married?”I handed Mother the wine, but she ignored it, and I kept it back on the table, “Yes, I'm happy that my son would finally be getting married, but to a mute? Hell no, I thought it would be Ava.”“Ava?” I raised my left eyebrow, “Ava isn't bad; given the chance, I would m
Aurora's POVFather would never do such a thing, he would never get me married to anyone without telling me. That was Stepmother's nature, not Father's nature.Elena held my hand, “You should understand your father,” I pushed her hand from mine and ran inside the house.“Why would you bring us here to insult us?!” Omega Nickolas yelled at stepmother, and I didn't even care, “We will get to the bottom of this,” He held his wife's hand and left.“Why did you do that without consulting me first?!!” stepMother yelled, “Didn't I say I was going to get one of our youngest daughters married to the Lycan so why did you arrange your daughter's marriage with him?!!”I was angry at Father, but seeing the situation, I couldn't say anything, “Father did the right thing,” Justin said, “I would have done it if he hadn't done it.”“Excuse me?” Stepmother spat as she placed her hand on her waist.“Your eldest daughter destroyed her first Marriage and now you want to get your younger daughter married t
Aurora's POV Looking at myself in the mirror, I could see a girl wearing a beautiful wedding dress with no smile on her face. She didn't look happy. I prayed something would happen and the wedding would get canceled but nothing. I was staring at my empty self, waiting to be taken to the altar. “You look beautiful, even more precious than last time,” Elena complimented but I wasn't feeling any compliment at the time. “What's going on now?” I asked curiously, “I have been in this dressing room for a long time.” “Nothing, your Father will come soon; everyone is already at the church waiting,” Happiness radiated from Elena's face as she stared at me. “Aurora,” I turned towards the door when I heard Father's voice and I ran to hug him, “Let's go,” I nodded my head and followed Father. I held Father by his arms as we walked down the aisle; the hall was so full, and there weren't many people at my wedding with Alpha Elijah, but this was different. I lowered my gaze the whole time to
Aurora's POV When the light came on, the concern on Tristan's face slowly turned to disappointment then anger. “What the hell are you doing in my room?!!!” Tristan yelled and I felt it in my bones, “Why are you dressed like that?” What type of stupid question was he asking? Didn't he ask them to take me to this room earlier and wasn't he the one who kept this night garment on the bed? “How dare you come into my room dressed in such a manner?!!” Tristan yelled, he looked around the room with disgust, “What is going on with my room? Why is it like that?” I could feel the anger all the way across the room, Tristan picked up a robe and shoved it forcefully into my hand. He held my arms and dragged me out of the room. Tristan pushed me, and just as I was about to fall, His Grandma held me, and I fell into her arms. I stood up to thank her when I realized almost everyone in his family was standing in front of his door. Tristan's loud voice must have brought them here. “What's going o
Aurora's POV “You shouldn't mind what you just saw, they are just best friends,” Travis assured me with a smile on his face. I followed behind him till we got to the west wing, “The place you were is the North wing of this house, nobody is allowed there without Tristan's permission,” Travis opened the door, “This is your room.” The room looked extremely beautiful and elegant; it looked like a princess would live there. I wanted to express myself but Elena and Scott weren't here to help me out. Travis looked at me with concern, he held my hand and carefully walked me to the table in the room. He drew out the chair and made me sit on it. I looked carefully at him wondering what he was doing, when he brought out a paper and an ink, “Write whatever you want to tell me.” Thank goodness, someone with some sense, I picked up the ink and wrote, “Why is no one allowed in the North wing of this house?” “Tristan is the only person who stays there, and he likes his privacy; I will advise y
Aurora's POV I was scared; I didn't understand what was going on. I cooked it the way everyone would cook it and with the normal ingredients. Travis tasted from the plate of food Tristan had eaten from without any hesitation, “It has garlic.” I was surprised that despite Tristan was lying on the floor looking lifeless, Travis tasted the food, if I had poisoned the food, Travis would have also eaten the food without any hesitation Tristan's mother stood up with teary eyes. She pushed me, and I lost my balance, “Have you gone mad?!! Did you want to kill my son so bad that you served him garlic?” “Call the physician now!! Get him from his quarters immediately!!!” Grandma yelled to no one in particular but different staff ran to call the physician. Travis stood in between me and Tristan's mom and said, “You shouldn't take your anger out on your son's wife; if you want to blame anyone, it should be Ava and the kitchen staff; she doesn't even know that Tristan doesn't eat garlic
Aurora's POV “Ever since you got back from Tristan's room yesterday you have been dead silent,” Elena voiced her concern, “You may leave us now,” She said to the staff getting me ready for our wedding reception. I contemplated telling her what I found out, Elena held my hand and led me to sit on the bed, “Look, you know I'm your sister and I will do everything in your best interest, so what happened in that room?” I took a deep breath, “Tristan can't differentiate between colors, he is colorblind.” Elena's jaw dropped lower than my grade in school, “Are you serious? That is deceit, how could he not tell you about it?” I shrugged my shoulders, “I can't even say anything to him.” “I know, now that I'm here, I'm going to confront him, but for now, make sure you smile so your Father won't worry,” Elena touched my chin with a proud smile on her face, “He was worried when we were sent for earlier than the date we agreed.” “Is something the matter?” Grandma entered the room and
Aurora's POV We all ran to Tristan's room, where we heard the screaming; Tristan's sister-in-law opened the door without knocking. “What was that scream….” Grandma paused when we saw Ava in Tristan's arms. “It.. hurt...I … can't… bear… it..” Ava cried as she tightened her hold on “Are you okay?” Indigo rushes to Ava. “My child, What happened?” Tristan's mother pulled Ava away from Tristan's hold and hugged her. “My body is itching a lot after I finish bathing with the water I prepared in Tristan's room; I can't bear it, Mother,” Ava cried as she used her hands to scratch her body. My eyes met Elena's eyes and I could see them glimpse with happiness. I removed my eyes and lowered my gaze. This wasn't what I wanted. I wanted to teach Tristan a lesson and now Ava has fallen into the trap I didn't set for her. “Who prepared the bath with you?” Tristan's mother asked and Ava shook her head with tears rolling down her eyes. “Nobody Mother, nobody,” Ava's body was red and
Aurora's POV“My Lady, the Mustard powder is ready,” Elena handed me the bottle as I stood in front of the mirror looking at myself.“Thank you, inform….” I paused and hid the bottle inside my drawer when I heard my room door open. Why doesn't this family knock before entering my room?!I frowned my face but quickly masked it with a smile when I saw it was Grandma, “You are up so early?”I smiled and nodded my head, “I want to talk to you about something,” Grandma seemed worried for some reason.“I will be outside in case you need me,” Elena said and I nodded my head.I pulled out a chair for Grandma, and she sat, and I sat opposite her, “I'm really worried about something,” I nodded my head, urging her to continue.“That day at the wedding reception party, when they were to test Tristan's eyesight, did you pray that day? Did you desperately pray for him?” Curiosity sparked all over Grandma's face. Her question was weird, I didn't understand what she was trying to say. When she saw t
Aurora's POV“Interesting,” Tristan laughed, then his face turned serious, “As from today henceforth, when I'm with Aurora, the two of you mustn't utter a single word,” Tristan warned Elena and Scott.I walked to my desk and picked up a pen and paper, “Then, as from today henceforth, we shall use this pen and paper to communicate,” I wrote and handed it to him.Tristan read the paper and tore it, “I won't do that; if you don't communicate to him, then there is no need to say anything.”I handed him the second paper that I had written on and he read it out loud to everyone's hearing, “Why did you marry me? I need nothing but the truth.” Tristan tore the paper with a smile on his face, “Everyone leave the room Immediately!!” Tristan ordered. Elena looked at me and I nodded my head in approval.“What were you saying?” Tristan took a step closer to me when everyone left the room, “Why did I marry you?” he sat on my bed, “That's an interesting question, why do you think I married you?”Wh
Aurora's POV I heard two metals clash against each other, and I didn't feel the impact of the sword, or maybe I was in the afterlife. I slowly opened my eyes to see Tristan standing next to me, his sword shielding me from Ava's sword. In a swift moment, Tristan pushed Ava with his sword and her sword fell to the ground, “Ava, That's enough.” “It's a duel Tristan and there are rules!!” Ava yelled and Travis helped me up on my feet. “My Lady!!” Elena ran to hug me with tears in her eyes. “I can see that but do expect me to sit and watch you kill my wife?!” Tristan yelled, and everyone stood to their feet. The word wife seemed foreign, he didn't treat me like one. “Rules are rules Lycan,” Ava gritted. “I make the rules!! I'm the rules!! I can change the rules anytime, Ava, and right now, I'm changing the rules,” Tristan threw his sword on the floor, “I declare you the winner, and that's it; there is no need to kill your opponent.” Ava glared at me; if eyes could kill, I
Aurora's POV“She was trained to be an assassin,” I said the moment I entered my room.“Who?” Elena inquired. I sighed and sat on the bed.“Ava, Ava was trained to be an assassin; that's the only reason why she openly challenged me,” I fist my hair in my hand. I wanted to scream at the top of my lungs, but I couldn't.“I wondered what would make a mere Lady to challenge the Luna, the queen consort, this all makes sense now,” Elena nodded her head as she spoke, she snapped her finger right in front of my face, “Does she plan to kill you at the duel tonight?”My jaw dropped in confusion, “What do you mean the duel tonight?Elena blinked her eyes, “Weren't you aware? Ava had placed the duel tonight, that's a few hours from now.”Why did she place the duel tonight? Everyone knew how exhausted I would be today; what was her motive?Elena held my hand and gave it a light squeeze, bringing my attention to her, “Do you think Ava knows something about Father and Justin's death? Is there a reas
Tristan's POV Seeing Aurora in that situation hurt; I could understand her as I had lost someone before, and I hope she copes better. I felt extremely hurt for her when the news got to us. “I need you to secretly investigate who had poisoned the drink at the wedding reception,” I said to Travis and he nodded his head. “Do you think it's someone from this household that wanted Aurora dead?” Travis asked a question that I didn't have an answer to. “That's impossible; no one from this house is capable of killing, and it has never happened; just do well to find out what happened that…” I paused when someone opened my room door. “What gives you the right to enter my room without knocking!!!” I yelled without looking back to see who had entered my room. The only person who could enter my room without any announcement was standing right in front of me. “What gives you the right to make everyone wear a mourning dress in this house?!!” My mother yelled. I turned to see her with the ladie
Aurora's POV I stood up from the floor when I heard Ava's voice, I just needed to see who she was talking to. Anger surged through my blood when I saw she was talking to my stepmother. What nonsense is this? What kind of conversation was that? “I don't really know,” Mother wiped her tears as more tears flooded her eyes. “Indigo needs someone to be by her side right now, and my family can offer that support right now,” Ava held her stepmother's hand as she spoke sweetly. “What madness is that?” I questioned and Elena immediately told them what I said. “Why are you being heartless? I just want your sister to spend some time with us, especially now that she lost her father and brother,” Ava said with a calm voice. I shook my head, “Indigo won't stay in my home; she will never step her feet Into my house,” I said angrily, and Elena conveyed my message. “You are just a daughter in law while I'm a daughter, so I believe you know who has more right in that house?” Ava said slyly, mak
Aurora's POV “Hmmm?” Both tears of happiness and sadness rolled down my eyes. I was happy I finally spoke but sad that Father never got to hear me speak. He wanted to hear his daughter's voice. “I….I…. spoke…” I cried and hugged Elena. “You lost your voice when you lost your Mother and gained it back when you lost your father,” Elena hugged me tight, “Say something.” “El…Ele…Elena,” I smiled and Elena giggled excitedly. My voice felt foreign to me. The last time I heard my voice, I was a child, but now it was different. Elena stood up, “I should inform everyone,” I hurriedly held her hand and shook my head. “No, we shouldn't yet; someone had tried to kill me on purpose with that poison. Father and Justin had taken that in my place,” I gave Elena's hand a light squeeze, “I want to find the murderer before anyone finds out, can you help me do that?” I will destroy that person who made my Father and brother lie like that on the floor. Losing my husband, Alpha Elijah, didn't make m
Aurora's POV I froze when I saw the look on Scott's face; something wasn't right; I could feel it in my soul. “What? What? What was going on?” I asked but Scott didn't answer because he didn't see what I did. “What news has arrived?” Tristan asked for me and my eyes were fixed on Scott for any reaction. My legs became weak and I fell to the floor when I saw tears drop from Scott's eyes to his hand. Just then, I was sure it wasn't good news. What unpleasant news must have come? I pray it won't break me. “Master Saint and Master Justin have passed away,” My world shattered when I heard those words. I guess my prayers won't be answered now. “How did it happen?” Elena asked behind Scott, “They were fine just a moment ago.” “They had consumed poison at the reception,” Scott announced and I shut my eyes tight. How? What poison? “Get the carriages and horses ready, we shall visit my in-laws tonight,” Tristan declared and walked out of the room. Tears refused to drop out of my eyes
