Elizabeth gets off her flight from Tokyo and heads to collect her luggage; afterwards, she heads to the hotel. In the elevator, she pulls out her phone and calls Liza.
"Hey babe, I'm back. Could you please do some house hunting for me? I need to find a place ASAP, or all our savings will be going to this hotel suite." She says, "No problem, boss. I will come back to you with the prospect's tomorrow morning. Your schedule has been cleared for Ms Gray today." Liza responds. Elizabeth has not been looking forward to this meeting for some reason. "Thanks, Liza. Chat tomorrow," she says and hangs up.
After showering, she decides on a casual, off-the-shoulder top and tight jeans, accentuating her curves. With a satisfied nod, she opts for flats instead of heels today.
She pulls up in front of Emily's address and parks her car. The villa is surprisingly quaint, not the Dereon flashiness at all. Elizabeth smiles and heads inside. She was about to ring the bell, but Emily opened the door before she could.
With her hand posed in mid-air, Elizabeth looks at Emily and laughs, "Don't tell me you've been waiting long?"
Emily blushes and pulls her inside, "Not at all! I'm just so excited about today!" Elizabeth looks at this hyper little church mouse and smiles. "I wish all my clients would meet me with such gusto!"
Emily beams at her. "I'm sorry if I'm making you uncomfortable," She looks down then bites her bottom lip. "You're the first person I've seen this week besides August. It gets quite lonely here. Even this villa feels like a mansion on some days."
Elizabeth looks at her with confusion, wondering just what exactly is going on behind these closed doors. Emily perks up again, "Let's head to the living room. I'll get the ladies to bring some coffee and cookies."
She gestures to one of the helpers and tells them what to do. Elizabeth looks around the villa and is surprised to see that the inside isn't flashy either. She feels guilty for having judged Emily before knowing her.
"You have a beautiful home, Em." Elizabeth sighs; Emily looks at her with sadness, "Yeah, this was my mother's home before...." Does Elizabeth spot something in her eyes, sadness?? Suddenly Emily snaps out of it.
"Let's get started!"
Five hours later, Elizabeth stands up and stretches her legs. "That was the most fun and tiring prep I have ever done!" she exclaimed, "I have never had so much coffee in one sitting either!" she laughs and looks over at Emily. The latter looks happy, yet there is something she could not quite put her finger on.
"Emily, is everything okay?" She looks over at her, and her bottom lip trembles.
"Emi-"
"I'm okay, Lizzy. I'm just a little overwhelmed, that's all..." Emily trails off. Elizabeth suddenly becomes more worried, "Emily, you can speak to me about anything. Please do not just think of me as your wedding dress designer. Think of me as a friend. Whenever you need someone to talk to, please do not hesitate to call me, okay?" Elizabeth looks at her sincerely, and she smiles even though her tears are threatening to fall. She grabs Elizabeth's hand and says, "Thank you, I really appreciate that."
Elizabeth smiles at her and gathers all her things before heading out. "Thank you for today, Emily. I feel like I know you much better now," she says. "No, thank you. You have no idea how much today means to me." Emily reaches over to hug her, and she reciprocates. The two smile at each other, and Elizabeth says, "I'll see myself out. Take care, Em." And with that, she turns to head out.
Just as Elizabeth closes the door behind her, she turns around to walk and bumps into someone, spilling her project all over the ground. "Oh no!" she bends down to pick up her spilt folder and looks apologetically into the person's eyes.
One blue, one green
August gives her a cheeky grin and bends down to help her. "We really need to stop meeting like this, Dragonfly."
Elizabeth stands up, feeling flustered at being so close to August and trying to maintain her composure. "I'm sorry about that, Mr Dereon," she says while collecting all her scattered things that had fallen. "I should watch where I'm going." August frowns at her formality. Why was she acting like this when she knew how much he despises it? "No problem at all..." he responds, and Elizabeth looks at him defiantly and turns to walk away. "If you'll excuse me-" "Elizabeth, wait, please," August calls out after her and grabs her wrist. Elizabeth looks down at his hand and swallows hard, "Mr Dereon-" "Please call me by my name. You know how much I hate formality." Elizabeth knew this; that is why she was doing it. She needed him to think of her as just another employee contracted to his fiancée. "A-August. What is it?" she responds. He feels his heart tighten when she says his name. He looks at her with a broken expression. "I'm sorry for not introducing my
The past two weeks have flown by quickly. Elizabeth has seen more of Emily lately. The latter let it slip that August would be working out of town for the next month, so Elizabeth decided to take advantage of the situation and get to know Emily better. Sitting in her office at 5 pm, Elizabeth closes her laptop just as her phone starts ringing. She glances at the caller ID and smiles. "Lizzy, save me!" Emily exclaims on the other line, "The Dereon's kidnapped me today. I have been at their mercy for 9 hours, jumping to boutiques along with the wedding planner. I am drowning in frills and lace!" She finishes off dramatically. Elizabeth chuckles before she says, "Want to go out tonight? It will help you forget a bit. I promise not to tell August!" She jokes and can already see Emily making a face. "Yes! I would love that!" Emily responds. "Great! I'll bring Liza along. You two haven't met yet, and I know you'll love her." Elizabeth was starting to get excited as
3 am After dropping Liza off at her villa to sleep off the alcohol, Elizabeth pulls up outside Emily's place, intending to drop her off as well, but Emily is way too drunk. Elizabeth looks over at the passenger side and notices that Emily has passed out. Thinking back on the evening, Emily and Liza hit it off unexpectedly well, although a bit too well. The two of them danced and drank the night away; Elizabeth felt like the third wheel and resigned herself to being the designated driver. "Emily, wake up. We need to get you inside, "Elizabeth tries to coax her awake while giving her gentle smacks. Emily eventually wakes up, and Elizabeth bolts to the passenger side door. Emily gets out and leans on her for balance. As they walk towards the villa entrance, Emily is mumbling drunkenly, "Thank...Thank. You for taking out, Lizzy." She muttered. Elizabeth grimaces and continues to lead and drag Emily inside. "The Dereons will kill me if they see Emi
Elizabeth Waking up with a pounding headache, Elizabeth sits up. She sighs as she adjusts her dress, puts on her heels, and heads towards Emily's room. Taking in her surroundings, she remembers that she slept at Emily's villa. Oh no, she must have had quite a bit to drink last night. If she did, she doesn't remember it at all. She stops outside Emily's door and knocks softly. "Come in, "Emily responds, and she opens the door. Sitting on her bed, freshly showered, and in her robe, Emily was sitting and staring wide-eyed at her laptop screen. Elizabeth sensed something was wrong and walked over to her bed. "What's wrong, Em?" She asks, and Emily points to her screen. Elizabeth looks and realizes that the cause for her discomfort is displayed there. Emblazoned on the screen was a caption, AUGUST DEREON, GET A HOLD OF YOUR FIANCEE!! It seems that the paparazzi have been watching Emily and waiting for her to slip up. They c
Three months have passed since the nightclub debacle and Emily has been dodging all Elizabeth's calls. She hoped that August didn't disclose what had happened that morning. She felt guilty enough already. It was this particular afternoon after trying to call her again, that Elizabeth had enough and threw her phone down in frustration. Just then, Liza walks in."Everything okay, Liz?" She asks warily and walks into the office.Elizabeth looks at her, exasperation clearly written all over her face. "It's Emily. She's been dodging my calls since the night we all went out and I don't know what I did wrong." Elizabeth hangs her head. After a minute passes and Liza not responding, she Feels a weird atmosphere between them, Elizabeth looks at Liza, whose head hung in shame and realizes, "But she's been talking to you..."Liza looks at her with guilt and nods. "But it's not what you think, Lizzy." She starts, but Elizabeth stops her. "I don't t
August walks over to her desk and sits down. Her throat feels parched and she's lost for words. What was he doing here? She clears her throat and starts, "How can I help you, Mr. Dereon?" August looks at her and sighs. "Don't you think we're past the formalities, Dragonfly?" He replies, and she's taken back to when he kissed her. Blushing, she says "Yes I suppose we are. " sighing she continues, "Why are you here, August?"He looks at her earnestly and replies, "I would like to discuss what happened over lunch with you. It has been over 2 months and I haven't seen you around Emily or over at the villa at all. "Elizabeth looks at him, surprise written all over her face. He thought she hadn't been over at Emily's because of him. He had no idea what was really going on...She clears her throat, "I am booked for lunch today, unfortunately. Maybe we could-""Dinner then?" August interjected. This wasn't going how she p
Elizabeth sat there, dumbstruck. Did she hear him right? Did he just admit to loving her? With tears welling up in her eyes, she finally speaks."August, we can't... This is wrong.." She started but couldn't bring herself to say the right words.August looked straight at her, not wavering. "I know you may think that now. But give me this week, please. I need to speak to my family and arrange for this marriage to be called off in the most civil way possible. Emily will understand as she feels the same way as I do." He finishes. At the mention of Emily's name, she's brought back to her senses."Emily's family will disown her if you do call-off this engagement, August. She'll be ruined. I can't do that to her. " Elizabeth realizes, sadly that she could not do this to her friend. She was betraying her just by being here. The two of them might not love one another but they were still engaged.August senses her apprehension and quickly tries to reas
1 am.Elizabeth lay awake in bed. Thoughts of this evening running wild in her mind. The level her mother told her she was capable of.A mistress.Suddenly feeling sick to her stomach, she jumps up and runs to the toilet, her feelings being regurgitated.Dry heaving and exhausted, she gets up from the floor and walks to the sink. She looks at herself in the bathroom mirror and feels tears running down her face.No.As much as she was in love with August, she would stay away from him. This engagement was set in stone by powerful families, God alone knows what they would do to hers if she breaks this engagement.Having composed herself, she heads
Elizabeth rummages through her storage. Damon had run off in this direction with her bag and she could not find her wallet anywhere. Today was the opening of Libellule School of Design and she would be late at this rate. Sighing in exasperation, she vows never to have any more kids. As she bends down to look behind one of Damon's old strollers, she spots a box hidden in the far end of the shelf. She frowns and reaches in further until she could touch the box and pulls it out. It was about the size of a normal shoe box and looked oddly familiar. She took the top off and sighed, it was a photo album. Her mother used to old fashioned back in the day before greed took over. As she paged through the album, she becomes misty eyed at the happy memories she had when Blair was still alive. But as she neared the end, she recognized an envelope that she put there a long time ago; a letter left to her by her parents in their will. She had completely forgotten about the letter; he

Emily watches from the vantage point of her bulletproof bedroom windows.Antonio was hoisting Amy into his Emperor, of course, he came with that ridiculous car to do a rescue. She sees them getting away despite the gunfire and sighs sadly, knowing Antonio would plan revenge after he sees the extent of Amy’s injuries she had Vito inflict over the past 3 days. She touched his woman, his property. He will be out for blood. She turns away from the window and walks out into the hallway. Piero had already called a cleanup crew to dispose of the Russo filth on Marino territory. “Famiglia!” she calls, and all her soldiers had their attention on her, “Tomorrow we wage war on Russo ground. They trespassed on our territory for the last time. We need to make an example of them.” she hollers, with heated grunts and shouts coming from her men.It always amazed her at the power she had over these men and h
Emily tells her enforcer, Vito, to leave Amy to stew in her own thoughts for the night. They would continue with the torture in the morning. The evening would give her plenty of time to reconsider her predicament and tell them where Antonio was hiding out.She couldn’t help but think her brother a coward. He left the woman he supposedly loved in order to keep himself safe. Giovanni would turn in his grave if he knew the man he trained to be the next Boss was in fact a coward and not worthy of the Omerta.Smiling a silent victory, she slips into her nightgown and retires for the evening.***Days pass with no word from her brother or his family.Vito had exhausted all his t
* August and Elizabeth's story will continue soon.*Emily stares at her reflection in the mirror.A face she did not recognize anymore because of the extensive plastic surgery she had to endure after the blast to their limo 2 years ago. Just as she was made Boss before killing Giovanni Russo, her territory had been invaded and they betrayed her. Luckily, she reclaimed her throne before the vultures descended. She took down so many of Russo’s men that she lost count. In Sicily, they nicknamed her Strega Rossa because of her red hair and penchant for killing with blades. She definitely was not Antonio’s pufetta anymore. She puts on her corset and has her ancella lace her up tightly. She only fought in corsets, the pain meant no
