The past two weeks have flown by quickly. Elizabeth has seen more of Emily lately. The latter let it slip that August would be working out of town for the next month, so Elizabeth decided to take advantage of the situation and get to know Emily better.
Sitting in her office at 5 pm, Elizabeth closes her laptop just as her phone starts ringing. She glances at the caller ID and smiles.
"Lizzy, save me!" Emily exclaims on the other line, "The Dereon's kidnapped me today. I have been at their mercy for 9 hours, jumping to boutiques along with the wedding planner. I am drowning in frills and lace!" She finishes off dramatically.
Elizabeth chuckles before she says, "Want to go out tonight? It will help you forget a bit. I promise not to tell August!" She jokes and can already see Emily making a face. "Yes! I would love that!" Emily responds. "Great! I'll bring Liza along. You two haven't met yet, and I know you'll love her." Elizabeth was starting to get excited as well. She had not seen Liza out of work for a long time, and truth be told, she missed her best friend.
"Thank you, Lizzy. This will really take my mind off things." Emily says, and they end the call.
Elizabeth knew she was pushing her luck getting to know Emily because she was a client, but she knew Emily needed it. The girl was so lonely amongst the Dereons. She will get her out of her shell, one day at a time.
She calls Liza into her office after the phone call.
"Yes, boss?" Liza walks in and closes the door behind her. She looks up at Elizabeth and frowns. "Oh no, what did I do now?" She asks Elizabeth, who chuckles at her question. "Nothing, Liza. I just wanted to speak to you a bit." She gestures to Liza to sit down.
"I know we haven't seen much of one another since I've moved into the new villa, and I miss you. Do you want to go out tonight?" Elizabeth says to Liza, who immediately perks up, getting excited.
"Oh my gosh, yes! And I have missed you too, but I didn't want to push it. You've been under a lot of pressure lately, so I understand." Liza responds and walks over to Elizabeth and hugs her. "So, where are we going?"
Elizabeth smiles warmly at her best friend. She did not realize how badly she needed that hug from her.
"Oh, the usual spot, what do you think? I want to introduce you to Emily as well. We're designing her wedding dress and, well..."
Elizabeth retells the whole Emily story to Liza that she's picked up the past two weeks.
"Phew... Poor thing. And she's marrying into that family?" Liza responds after she hears everything.
"Yeah, that's why I've been trying to get to know her, she seems incredibly lonely and miserable, and I was right. She has not revealed why she's miserable, though. So, you won't mind her coming along?" Elizabeth queries, and Liza shakes her head, "Not at all, Lizzy. It sounds like that girl needs all the friends she can get." Liza responds.
Elizabeth looks at her friend and smiles again, "Thank you, Liza. I appreciate it. Now, just for this day to finish so we can let our hair down!" Elizabeth exclaims Liza giggles. "Luckily, it's Friday, so our slave-driver of a boss lets us off early," Liza responds, and Elizabeth smacks her arm. "Hey!" Liza laughs and starts to walk out of her office; she stops at the door and turns to face Elizabeth again.
"You've become a different woman since you've moved out of your parents' place. I love it; you look relieved and happier. I hope this You sticks around for a long time." She finishes and walks out, closing the door behind her. Elizabeth chokes back tears at her friend's words. Liza was the only one who knew how badly her parents treated her and hearing her say that meant a lot to her.
Wiping away her tears, she finishes off her last report for the day and closes her laptop.
Later that evening, Liza and Elizabeth have pre-drinks, waiting for Emily to arrive at Elizabeth's villa. Liza was dressed in a Libellule original that Elizabeth designed for her, deep red and black lace that ended just above her knees. Elizabeth was dressed in a figure-hugging baby blue Alexander McQueen, both of them wearing their signature red bottom heels.Just then, Elizabeth's front door opens and in walks Emily, gorgeous as usual in her black Libellule dress, also wearing Louboutin platforms. Elizabeth looks over at Liza and notices her gawking at Emily and laughs. "I guess you like Emily then," she jokes, and Liza smacks her arm.
"I'm so sorry I'm late. Madam Dereon called me and would not stop talking. Frankly, I can't wait for this wedding to be over..." Emily trails off and sees Liza. Elizabeth watches the two making eye contact and frowns. "Okay, if you two are done staring at one another, let me introduce you two. Liza, this is Emily, Emily, this is Liza. Okay, done, let's go." Elizabeth finishes off. The three of them walk out of Elizabeth's villa, not knowing that this night would change their lives.
3 am After dropping Liza off at her villa to sleep off the alcohol, Elizabeth pulls up outside Emily's place, intending to drop her off as well, but Emily is way too drunk. Elizabeth looks over at the passenger side and notices that Emily has passed out. Thinking back on the evening, Emily and Liza hit it off unexpectedly well, although a bit too well. The two of them danced and drank the night away; Elizabeth felt like the third wheel and resigned herself to being the designated driver. "Emily, wake up. We need to get you inside, "Elizabeth tries to coax her awake while giving her gentle smacks. Emily eventually wakes up, and Elizabeth bolts to the passenger side door. Emily gets out and leans on her for balance. As they walk towards the villa entrance, Emily is mumbling drunkenly, "Thank...Thank. You for taking out, Lizzy." She muttered. Elizabeth grimaces and continues to lead and drag Emily inside. "The Dereons will kill me if they see Emi
Elizabeth Waking up with a pounding headache, Elizabeth sits up. She sighs as she adjusts her dress, puts on her heels, and heads towards Emily's room. Taking in her surroundings, she remembers that she slept at Emily's villa. Oh no, she must have had quite a bit to drink last night. If she did, she doesn't remember it at all. She stops outside Emily's door and knocks softly. "Come in, "Emily responds, and she opens the door. Sitting on her bed, freshly showered, and in her robe, Emily was sitting and staring wide-eyed at her laptop screen. Elizabeth sensed something was wrong and walked over to her bed. "What's wrong, Em?" She asks, and Emily points to her screen. Elizabeth looks and realizes that the cause for her discomfort is displayed there. Emblazoned on the screen was a caption, AUGUST DEREON, GET A HOLD OF YOUR FIANCEE!! It seems that the paparazzi have been watching Emily and waiting for her to slip up. They c
Three months have passed since the nightclub debacle and Emily has been dodging all Elizabeth's calls. She hoped that August didn't disclose what had happened that morning. She felt guilty enough already. It was this particular afternoon after trying to call her again, that Elizabeth had enough and threw her phone down in frustration. Just then, Liza walks in."Everything okay, Liz?" She asks warily and walks into the office.Elizabeth looks at her, exasperation clearly written all over her face. "It's Emily. She's been dodging my calls since the night we all went out and I don't know what I did wrong." Elizabeth hangs her head. After a minute passes and Liza not responding, she Feels a weird atmosphere between them, Elizabeth looks at Liza, whose head hung in shame and realizes, "But she's been talking to you..."Liza looks at her with guilt and nods. "But it's not what you think, Lizzy." She starts, but Elizabeth stops her. "I don't t
August walks over to her desk and sits down. Her throat feels parched and she's lost for words. What was he doing here? She clears her throat and starts, "How can I help you, Mr. Dereon?" August looks at her and sighs. "Don't you think we're past the formalities, Dragonfly?" He replies, and she's taken back to when he kissed her. Blushing, she says "Yes I suppose we are. " sighing she continues, "Why are you here, August?"He looks at her earnestly and replies, "I would like to discuss what happened over lunch with you. It has been over 2 months and I haven't seen you around Emily or over at the villa at all. "Elizabeth looks at him, surprise written all over her face. He thought she hadn't been over at Emily's because of him. He had no idea what was really going on...She clears her throat, "I am booked for lunch today, unfortunately. Maybe we could-""Dinner then?" August interjected. This wasn't going how she p
Elizabeth sat there, dumbstruck. Did she hear him right? Did he just admit to loving her? With tears welling up in her eyes, she finally speaks."August, we can't... This is wrong.." She started but couldn't bring herself to say the right words.August looked straight at her, not wavering. "I know you may think that now. But give me this week, please. I need to speak to my family and arrange for this marriage to be called off in the most civil way possible. Emily will understand as she feels the same way as I do." He finishes. At the mention of Emily's name, she's brought back to her senses."Emily's family will disown her if you do call-off this engagement, August. She'll be ruined. I can't do that to her. " Elizabeth realizes, sadly that she could not do this to her friend. She was betraying her just by being here. The two of them might not love one another but they were still engaged.August senses her apprehension and quickly tries to reas

Elizabeth decides to bury herself in work. She snaps at her staff and becomes ruthless in her business meetings. Liza has noticed the change in her best friend but decided not to push it any further if Elizabeth wanted to talk to her, she would have. Emily has pushed her out of her life as well, so Liza just keeps her head down, before her heart will be the death of her.The office phone rings and Liza answers, hearing the familiar sing-song voice of Emily on the other line."E-Em?" She stutters. Why was she calling her work line?" Yes, this is Emily Gray. Can you please put me through Elizabeth?" Emily answers, as dismissive as ever." I'm afraid Miss White is in an important meeting at present. Would you like me to set up an appointment for you to meet her?" If Emily was going to play this game, she can do it too."No that's fine. The Dereon-Grays would like to cancel our contract regarding the wedding dress that was ordered. We will reimbur
August stares at the ring in the palm of his hand. It was time for him to stop living in the fantasy world where things go perfectly well. His father did not become the businessman he is today by being naive. So he'll push forward with this marriage, even if he had to kill his emotions. He gets up and starts walking towards the window overlooking the courtyard. Emily's father and step-brother must have just arrived. "Showtime, I guess." He mumbles sadly. Turning to leave, he spots something sitting at the edge of his window.A dragonfly.Holding back his emotions, he turns and walks out to meet his new family.***************"Eldred Dereon, you cannot begin to understand how much this union of our families means to us." Today was the opening of Libellule School of Design and she would be late at this rate. Sighing in exasperation, she vows never to have any more kids. As she bends down to look behind one of Damon's old strollers, she spots a box hidden in the far end of the shelf. She frowns and reaches in further until she could touch the box and pulls it out. It was about the size of a normal shoe box and looked oddly familiar. She took the top off and sighed, it was a photo album. Her mother used to old fashioned back in the day before greed took over. As she paged through the album, she becomes misty eyed at the happy memories she had when Blair was still alive. But as she neared the end, she recognized an envelope that she put there a long time ago; a letter left to her by her parents in their will. She had completely forgotten about the letter; he

Emily watches from the vantage point of her bulletproof bedroom windows.Antonio was hoisting Amy into his Emperor, of course, he came with that ridiculous car to do a rescue. He will be out for blood. She turns away from the window and walks out into the hallway. Piero had already called a cleanup crew to dispose of the Russo filth on Marino territory. “Famiglia!” she calls, and all her soldiers had their attention on her, “Tomorrow we wage war on Russo ground. They trespassed on our territory for the last time. We need to make an example of them.” she hollers, with heated grunts and shouts coming from her men.It always amazed her at the power she had over these men and h
Emily tells her enforcer, Vito, to leave Amy to stew in her own thoughts for the night. They would continue with the torture in the morning. The evening would give her plenty of time to reconsider her predicament and tell them where Antonio was hiding out.She couldn’t help but think her brother a coward. * August and Elizabeth's story will continue soon.*Emily stares at her reflection in the mirror.A face she did not recognize anymore because of the extensive plastic surgery she had to endure after the blast to their limo 2 years ago. She took down so many of Russo’s men that she lost count. In Sicily, they nicknamed her Strega Rossa because of her red hair and penchant for killing with blades.
