The cold air found a way to sip through the closed windows. Winter was closer than ever and its melancholy feel matched the heart of Emily’s laying figure. It was nighttime so the room was dimly lit to sooth the temperature but these details went unnoticed by her sickly frame.

Her usually bright eyes stared lifelessly at the window. Once a thing of excitement turned into a memory of pain. She used to wait out a window just like this, and each time she stared out with expectations it always came true.
