Ava's POV

I sat in my hotel room, drinking coffee and watching the city from the glass windows. It was beautiful.

Naples was more beautiful in my eyes today than in the past few months.

I took a sip from my cup, reeling in my liberation.

I was finally free from all of them—Fernando, the DiAngelos, and even Miguel.

I was by myself now, with no one pulling my strings. I could do whatever I wanted. It was a relief, and yet I didn't feel entirely relieved.

My heart still twisted each time I thought of him —Miguel. It had been weeks since I saw him last and I couldn't say I didn't miss him.

I couldn't say that I didn't think of him, not seldom but all the time. I missed him so much.

I did, but I had other things to worry about. Important things, even though they weren't enough to clear my mind of the thought of him.

Miguel haunted my dreams and reality. I missed him terribly. It didn't change the fact that I couldn’t go back to him.

I couldn’t. Not after what he did to Fernando, shooti

Ava's POVI couldn't answer.I bit down on my lower lips.“I'm sorry,” I muttered, raising my shoulders slightly, “I have to go.”I swallowed hard as I turned to the door. My hand trembled as I squeezed the doorknob and pushed the door open before heading out of the cabin. I wanted to get away from here as fast as possible. It felt like I would lose myself if I didn't.Perez ran after me, “Ava!” he yelled, but I only picked up the pace.“Ava, stop!” he repeated, and I turned to him.“What?” I yelled, turning to him, “I'm not going back to him.”He stood out on the porch, which was just a few feet away from me. He stepped down, walking a few paces towards me.“Just think about it. Okay? Please,” he stepped closer, squeezing a paper in my hand.I didn't utter a word as I turned my back to him and headed to the road. I hailed a cab, glancing back at him to see him standing there, staring at me.I observed as he stood outside the cabin until he eventually faded from view. Gosh! He was s

Miguel's POVShe couldn’t be serious. Leave the mafia? What did she think the mafia was to me? Some kind of factory work that I could just quit whenever I wanted?“Yes, Miguel. That's my condition. If you want me here, then you have to leave the mafia.”I glanced at Perez and then back at her. We couldn't talk about this here.“Let's talk upstairs,” I said, heading up to my bedroom, and she followed me. Once the door shut behind her, I turned to face her, “What the hell are you talking about? You can’t be serious.”“But I am.” “I can’t leave the mafia!” I enunciated, “It’s not possible.”“You can’t?” she quizzed and cocked her head, “Or you won't?” “Both.”“Okay. Then, I'll leave.” She turned to leave, but I grabbed her arm, pulling her back. I didn't want her to go. Not again. After all the torture her absence had brought me, I couldn't let her go.“What? You said you can’t accept my terms.”“Give me another condition, but not that one.”“Too bad. That's the only condition I have

  • Auctioned To My Mafia Lord   Chapter 71: Uncomfortable but Sweet

Ava's POVMiguel gave me the room down the hall from his own, which was much closer than I was hoping for, but I couldn’t complain. The room was grand —it was just as large and beautiful as his own, with a fireplace and a huge balcony that faced the garden. It was beyond beautiful, and I liked it. It was private and homey, and the best part. I wasn't going to be sharing it with Miguel, which was a relief. I couldn’t possibly share a bed with him if I intended to avoid anything happening between us.This was best for me.I stood out on the balcony, taking a long breath and relishing in the cold evening wind, when his voice echoed through the room.“I take it you like your new room.”My stomach churned at the suddenness of him, and I suppressed a smile as I turned in the direction of his voice to find him at the entrance of the room. He was leaning on the wall with his arms folded around his broad chest. He had changed his clothes since the last time I saw him, which was just a few min

Ava's POVOnly then did Miguel finally take his eyes off me to glance out the window. He got out of the car and held the door open for me. I stepped out and followed him into the most expensive-looking restaurant I had ever seen.Even from outside, it sparkled, and when we walked into the restaurant, we were greeted by a live band. The music sounded great, and for a moment, it felt like I had crashed into another world.“What table, sir?” the waitress at the entrance asked us, and Miguel muttered something to her.She grinned and led us to the booth by the window with a wonderful view of a water fountain outside and beautiful lights that made it feel like Christmas came early.I took off my jacket and slid into the seat with my eyes glued to the water fountain."It’s beautiful,” I complimented.“I know. I had a feeling you'd love it,” he muttered, and I took my eyes off the fountain to stare into his dreamy eyes.“How did you find this place?” I asked, leaning my arm on the table.“I

  • Auctioned To My Mafia Lord   Chapter 73: The Picnic

Ava's POVI slipped out of bed very early the next morning to get ready for the picnic. I was a little excited to see Gracie again, and by a little, I meant a lot. Gracie had a vibe that I liked to be around. She was so full of life, and I fancied that energy so badly. I padded over to the wardrobe and carefully selected a vibrant sundress adorned with dainty floral patterns. It was pretty, and I was certain Miguel would like it on me.I froze instantly, shocked at the direction of my thoughts.Since when did I care about that? Why would I even care about that?I returned the sundress to my wardrobe. There was no way I was going to wear it now that I was aware of those thoughts. I sort through the rest of my clothes, getting irked when I couldn't find anything that went with the occasion, like the sundress. My eyes darted back to it, and the appeal stuck to me like glue. It was really the perfect outfit for the picnic. I sighed and picked out the dress, convincing myself the whole

  • Auctioned To My Mafia Lord   Chapter 74: Pizza Date

Ava's POVMy hormones and my heart planned on murdering me each time Miguel and I were in proximity. The sexual tension kept increasing but I was determined to fight it. But it was proving to be the hardest task, especially since Miguel was becoming a changed person. There has been a really big change in Miguel since our agreement. He was so much softer, and not just at the orphanage or to the factory workers. Lately, his warmth was spread to everyone, including his men in the house. Miguel was less violent toward them and hadn't hit or tried to kill any of them in the last few days, which I would call progress. If I remember correctly, it was usually the opposite. He was really trying, and I could tell that none of this was easy for him, which made me feel proud. I was proud of him and how he was handling things. He was cheerful, fun, and nothing like the Miguel I met the day I was auctioned to him. Thinking about that time in comparison to now, It felt like a different lifetime."

Ava's POV Mark joined us, and together, the four of us entered the pizza place, finding an empty seat in the corner of the room.Perez and Mark sat at the booth behind us. Miguel ordered four boxes of pizza to our table and another four to Perez's table. The minute the waitress brought them over, we dug in.“Gosh!” I mumbled as I stuffed my mouth full of pizza. It was just as they said. The pizza tasted fantastic and chewy. I could hardly get enough.A few hours later, I had eaten all my pizza and half of Miguel's. He didn't seem to mind as he kept giving me more until I was so stuffed that I couldn't stomach anything anymore.“I'm full,” I grumbled, pressing my hand to my stomach. Miguel passed me a glass of water, and I took it from him.“Thanks,” I flashed him a grin and took a sip from the glass.“Are you alright?” He asked.I nodded, “Just super full. Can we go home now?” I asked.“Sure.” He stood up instantly, extending a hand to me. He was really sweet, and I liked it.“Time t

Ava's POVI stopped.“Please, don’t leave.” He rushed toward me, grabbing my arm, and I turned to him slowly.Miguel closed the door behind me, hovering over me. My eyes immediately went to his hand gripping mine and the subtleness of that touch sent a delicious sensation up my thighs. His eyes flashed as if he had felt it too and then just as fast as it had happened, he released his grip on my arm, “Sorry.”I didn't move. My eyes drifted to his face, and I sucked in my lips, letting my eyes wander down his broad chest. He was so fucking hot, and staring at him made my lungs dry. My eyes wandered lower, and I caught sight of a bruise just below his ribs. I recognized that scar. He had gotten it from Indira.I swallowed hard, stretching my hand to his body and tracing the scar with the tip of my finger. I raised my head to his face.“Is this where the bullet—”“Yeah,” he cut in with a sweet smile.“Oh,” I mumbled with a frown, returning my gaze to the scar, “I'm so sorry. This is all

It was clear that I was the secret ingredient for trouble. And for the people I loved to be safe, I had to be far from them.I scooped Mary Grace from her bed quietly not wanting to wake Miguel. I kissed her forehead, tears gathering in my eyes as I whispered. “I love you, sweetie, and I'll always be here. I'll always be watching you like a hawk but for now, mama has to go,” I pressed my lips to her head again, and again.“I'm going to miss you, darling, but don't worry you're in safe hands. My blood stirred.“Those were good men,” I mumbled, reeling in the loss as I ground my teeth and clenched my fist, “Lino. I had no clue what was going on but that Jet was definitely not supposed to take off without an order from me.I couldn't understand it but Ava and my kids were in there, and that was all that mattered.Instantly, I sprinted towards the Jet, and Perez joined me as we raced to the aircraft. • Auctioned To My Mafia Lord   Chapter 155: The Traitor

Ava's POVI bolted upright, my heart pounding against my chest as though it was trying to rip itself out of my body. I was anxious. No. More than that I felt unsettled and for no reason too. I just had this bad feeling in my gut that I couldn't quite shake. Something felt very wrong but I didn't know what it was.I sat up in bed, staring into the darkness with the only source of light being the moonlight spilling in through the window. The air in the room felt heavy, suffocating, as if laden with an ominous foreboding that I couldn't quite place, and the uneasiness tightened in the pit of my stomach. I suddenly felt stuffy and needed some air.I slipped out of bed and glanced over my baby’s crib to see if I had woken her. I hadn't. Mary Grace was still sound asleep.I sighed with relief and made my way to the door. I stumbled towards the door, but my heart jumped again as I heard the sudden sounds of hurried footsteps. My stomach tightened and I pushed the door open gently, peeking

Miguel's POVLino was alive? That couldn't be.I had set the place on fire. I had watched it burn. It had to be a lie. Nando was definitely lying. I glanced at him, “You're lying,” I said.“I'm not!” He yelled with desperation in his voice and words, “I swear it. Mason is involved. I can prove it. Where is he?” I hesitated and turned to one of my men, “Where is Mason?” I asked, right in front of Nando. The man shook his head, “I haven't seen him all day. None of us have,” he responded. The words echoed in my head, and Nando's voice echoed beside me, “He knows... he knows you're onto him, and he's made a run for it.”Nando’s words made sense, and my mind was starting to churn with all sorts of thoughts. There had been something off about Mason since we caught Nando— maybe even since Lino.He hadn't come down to the cell for once, and I had barely seen him. It was almost like he had been hiding away all this time, and I just never really noticed.Everything was starting to align in my

Ava’s POVIt was midday, and Gracie helped me with a napkin to wipe the breast milk that spilled down Mary Grace’s clothes while I was breastfeeding her. I wiped it, cleaned her face too, before lowering my shirt.I pulled her to my chest and cradled my precious baby in my arms as I began to hum a gentle lullaby. Miguel’s favourite one and I hoped it would one day be her favourite one too.The melody flowed from my lips like a soothing river, wrapping us in its tender embrace like a blanket and its effect was tremendous on my baby. Mary Grace fell straight to sleep with her palm clutched tightly around my finger. I noticed she loved to do that, and I loved the feel of her palm around my finger. It was warm, and it made me feel a tremendous amount of peace. I rocked her back and forth, with the rhythm of the lullaby, and Gracie grinned beside me, wrapping one hand around my arm while caressing Mary Grace with the other, although she let her be the minute she was asleep so she wouldn't

Miguel’s POVI walked out of the underground cell, making my way up to the ground floor. Perez spun around the second I entered the room, “I was just coming to see you,” he said as he slid his phone in his pocket.“I spoke with the doctor, he will be here shortly,” He reported, and I regarded him with a nod. “How’s he holding up?”“He’s still a long way from hell but I'll make sure he gets there,” I replied. Perez smiled, “He's more than earned it,” he remarked, “Care for a drink?” he gestured, raising the bottle for a second before going on to pour himself a glass.“Sure. I haven't had one in a while,” I motioned towards him, taking notice of the room. “Where's Mason?” I asked after a minute of not spotting him anywhere around the room. “I’m not sure but he should be outside,” he said, and offered me a glass of scotch. I gulped it all at once and lowered the glass to the table.“Any lead for the antidote yet?” He asked.I shook my head, “Not yet,” I paused, “But I was thinking, per
