Anton immediately grabbed the drink on the table in nonchalance to sip from it after calling out such a huge amount. He could feel the stares of the other Alphas, but he didn’t care. All he could focus on was the woman in front of him.

She had tears in her eyes that she refused to let fall. She was weak yet strong. These attributes were in such a huge contrast with each other, he found it more entertaining than listening to the underground whispers and murmurs.

"Alpha Anton, you don’t do things like this, so how come you’re buying off this pregnant maiden?" Alpha Jacob, one of the few Alpha's who was bold enough not to flee from the table, queried.

Anton shifted his gaze to look at the bald man. "For the same reasons as you all. A man should be entertained sometimes, shouldn't he?” he coldly asked.

There were whistles and shouts of approvals from the rest of the Alphas at his words, but he didn’t look at them at all. He turned back to Kyra who was no longer looking at him. She had her hands wrapped protectively around her stomach.

"If there is anyone who still wants to bid and increase the price placed on Kyra should raise their hands," The auctioner’s voice rang out firmly, breaking the murmurs and bringing everyone's attention back to Kyra and the task at hand.

Someone screamed twenty thousand dollars. This caused Anton to cock his head to the side as he took another long sip of his drink. "Hundred thousand dollars," he said easily.

Gasps shot around the whole reception but even after five solid minutes, no one said anything or tried to increase the price again.

Anton was immediately bored. He rose to his feet. "I believe I have won the bid for the girl. Bring her to my entourage, I don't have a minute to waste here talking about nothing. I need to be on my way immediately" He said meaningfully as he looked at Alpha Ezekiel.

He noted that the man swallowed hard, but his eyes were filled with gratitude and relief. Anton knew that the man could not believe that he would buy his daughter since she was a liability and was pregnant for another man for such a huge amount. Ezekiel was nothing but a bastard.

Even Anton had no idea why he was being soft, and getting this woman home with him. She was not someone to add much difference to his life, but his wolf was too enamored with her already. He did not want to have a fight with his wolf who wouldn't rest until he got what he wanted. And what his wolf wanted at that moment was Kyra. Sparing a hundred thousand to satisfy his wolf was not a big deal to him.

Anton moved through the crowd, to the balcony outdoors. It was so dark outside, but his wolf’s eyes were able to discern things that were moving through the trees. The wind was light on his head, and he brushed it through his fingers with a sigh. He could feel the presence of one of his men behind him.

"Evans, prepare the chariots," he called over his shoulders.

"Yes, alpha," Evans said as he left in a hurry down the stone stairs.

Anton sighed as he took out his gloves and placed his hands on the cold banister.

The door swung open, and Kyra stepped out of there, her eyes cold as they looked right at him. There were about three maids with her, and he found that to be completely unnecessary.

"I don’t want the three of you around my new trophy. She belongs to me now." he told them, his voice devoid of warmth.

The maids looked at each other, and then, the shortest one among them bit her bottom lips. "I’m sorry Alpha Anton, but Alpha Ezekiel gave us specific instructions to guide the miss to her home and make sure she is alright."

"Well, he should have thought of her comfort before selling her off to me. Get lost," Anton snapped, irritation clear in his voice.

He looked away from them as he busied his hands into his clothes, before bringing out a pack of cigarettes. He brought out one but he did not light it, he simply stared at it as he rolled with it between his thumb and pointy finger. He could hear the shuffle of footsteps behind him, and sighed lightly. "Don’t even think about running away, little one."

Without turning, he signaled for Kyra to follow him by flicking his wrists. It was at the same moment that the chariot thrummed to the front of them. A guard stepped back and pulled the cotton up. Anton stepped aside, and slowly touched Kyra’s arm, he was going to help her climb up.

She flinched and shook in fear which made him frown a bit, before she entered into the chariot without his help. He said nothing and climbed up after her.

After a few minutes, the chariots began moving on the slightly tarred road. Anton shifted his gaze to her, and noted that she was itching her hands. His wolf purred as he mentally wished that Anton would move close to Kyra but Anton shut him out quickly.

"Hey," he said quietly.

She did not turn. He sighed as he combed his hand through his hair. “You are pregnant. I'm sure you are tired after standing for so long. So, you can relax, and try to sleep or something," he mumbled as he threw the weed out of the chariot’s window.

He stared at her. Her clear skin didn’t seem to have a spot on it, and she was glaring at the front of the chariot like she wished to kill someone. Anton didn’t understand why she was acting that way, and he was getting slightly frustrated too. He groaned deep in his throat as he looked out into the dark of the night, deciding not to say another word to her.

It’s not like she was so important....

Ugh!

Who was he kidding? What did his wolf make him bid for her?

He turned back at her. "It’s going to be a long ride. I honestly think you should sleep."

Again, he was met with a stony silence as though she couldn’t hear a word he said. Anton tightened his hands on his lap as he closed his eyes tight, hoping to control his wolf and emotions at the same time.

After about six hours later, the chariot finally pulled into the Black Shadow Pack. The gates swung inwards with guards in black raising their hands in a salute. Anton nodded at them, and turned over to Kyra, who was still gazing at the front of the chariot. She had not moved from where she was since this journey began, and he had to stop himself from telling her to sleep again. It wouldn’t be right.

"Ok, we are at the Black Shadow Pack, Kyra," he said slowly before he jumped down and gave her a hand to help her out.

She looked at his hand then her eyes went to his face, "Shouldn’t it be ‘new trophy?’"

Anton bit the inside of his cheeks in shock as he stared up at her. All his life he has built a reputation for himself that not even the strongest of all Alpha's could stand in front of him and exchange words, but this little woman he bought tonight with his money because of his wolf just did.

Anton was rendered speechless and he also found himself wanting to tell her he didn't mean to call her that, "Whatever I said to you back at your pack was not the real truth..."

Kyra did not wait for him to explain himself because she ignored his hand and jumped out of the chariot without another word.

For the umpteenth time that night, Anton was shocked into silence . What type of woman was she? He had never imagined that she would have such a thick bone to her or maybe, it was a strategy for her to protect herself from anyone she was sold to and the anyone just happened to be him.

Well, there would be no need for all that.

Anton calmly turned to walk inside his palace. He noted that her eyes were on his golden mansion that stood six feet off the ground, and was secured away from the pack members. He signaled for the guards to take her along with him, and moved into the pack.

The goddess knew that he had not meant to make her feel cheap, but what could be done when it was literally a slave trade. She should have counted herself lucky that he was the one that got her instead of some old alpha who had a grudge against Tristan.

Why was he feeling this way? He has never felt the need to explain himself to anyone or make them feel comfortable around him, why was he doing so with her? It was his fucking wolf pushing him to do all of this!

The doors opened and the maids bowed slightly at him, he flicked his wrist in dismissal.

"Kate," he called a woman in her thirties.

She bowed. "Yes, alpha ," she said quietly.

"This is my new... I mean, it’s Kyra Elliott," he corrected himself from calling her trophy again as he turned to her, noting that she was looking down and scowling at her own shoes. "Give her the largest room in the east wing."

Fuck! Why would he be giving her a room in the east wing? It was reserved for the Luna of the pack.

"Alpha?" Kate’s eyes were wide in shock on her face as she stared up at him.

Anton cleared his throat. Taking his words back now about giving her a room in the west wing would make him look stupid. He could only forge on, "Is there a problem?"

Kate shook her head at once even if her eyes still held surprise. "No, I will get to it."

He turned in time to see Kyra staring at him in shock. He was sure she did not know that the largest room in the east wing was for his Luna. She must be surprised he was going to allow her to sleep in a good room. He would have smiled at her, but she was whisked away by the guards.

'I’m not your enemy, Kyra,' he mumbled inwardly as he watched her go. He did not know why he said so.

He was doing so many things tonight and he was unable to understand why. Maybe he needed more sleep than he thought. He would be fine once he wakes up in the morning and he would be able to make a decision on what to do with the pregnant girl he just brought into his home and allowed to sleep in his Luna’s quarters.
