Five

He was not supposed to be here. Anton does not accept invitations to things like this but he was curious, bored, and needed the entertainment. The invitation letter he got was enough to spark a thousand curiosity in him and he knew that it would be fun to just sit around people where there would be lively music, good food, and a little show to entertain him.

He had been working for so long and needed a little break and this little ball that Alpha Ezekiel was hosting in his pack would do the trick. He left his beta and Gemma in charge of his pack and took off with eight of his men.

“Alpha Anton. I did not expect that you would come." Ezekiel beamed with a wide smile that hid his fear as he ran up to Anton who had just stepped into the party with two of his men. Other alphas also stopped what they were doing to stare at him in shock. They couldn't be blamed, he was never one to go to things like this and anytime he appeared, there must be trouble.

“I didn't know that I would come either," Anton had no qualms about saying it to Ezekiel's face. He held no grudge against this man but he did not like him either. His feeling was neutral where Ezekiel was concerned.

He wanted to ask the man outright why he would want to sell his daughter but he decided that it was better to listen to the murmurs filtering about and put two and two together by himself.

He ignored Ezekiel's outstretched hand and brushed past the man to the table his men led him to. The other alphas scrambled away from the table which was at one corner of the room where he could see everything that was going on. His men knew him too well; he hated being the center of attention which was impossible given the rumors that were flying around about him and who he was but he avoided placing himself in the middle of things if possible.

Women were looking at him and giving him inviting looks but none of them could approach him because they knew him too well. They were scared that he would embarrass them and he surely would. After what his first mate did to him, he hated women and allowed none to go close to him. His reputation of being ruthless was also enough to keep other alphas from approaching and trying to build any sort of friendship or relationship with him.

He held his drink, sipping in between while listening to the murmurs and it did not take him long to know the whole story behind Ezekiel selling his daughter off.

The reason even sparked curiosity in him as he wanted to see this daughter of Ezekiel’s who was foolish enough to sleep with her father and her pack’s enemy and even get pregnant for him. No Alpha would want someone like her, an alpha’s daughter or not and she was even pregnant. No man would want to train another man's child.

He was sure that she would be forced to flush the child should any of the alphas here agree to buy her. She would be turned into a sex machine and used for entertainment. Many alpha would like the idea of treating a princess the way they wanted because it was not everyday that one would acquire a princess.

According to the crowd's murmur, her father did not think too highly of her because she was completely useless with a weak wolf and was not intelligent either. She was a liability so no one here would take her seriously.

Anton was not ready for it. He was definitely not ready for the type of attraction he felt immediately after she was dragged to the stage.

She was the opposite of his first mate with her bright blonde hair and baby blue eyes. She was the definition of a fucking goddess and contrary to his expectations, every one of the alphas were bidding high and fighting to acquire her for themselves.

Anton watched her quietly and observed the way she tried to raise her chin in the air but it wobbled; she was trying to be strong in the face of humiliation. Just how many women would be able to stand before over a hundred men who were bidding for her without breaking down in tears? Her father was selling her out and she didn't even know who she would be going home with or what they would do to her. She stood tall and proud even if she was just a little ant that could easily be squashed.

Her hand strayed to her stomach one time and his eyes followed the movement, confirming what they said about her being pregnant. He had never been a fan of Tristan but what man in his right senses would allow a woman to leave with his child especially him an alpha? If the child is born, the baby will be an alpha.

Anton's eyes darted around the room and he could not pick out any alpha here who was Tristan's friend. What if they all wanted her not just because she was beautiful but also because they knew whose child she was carrying; they wanted to use the child against Tristan in the future?

His eyes drifted back to the girl and this time, her eyes were also on him, Anton froze as his heart began to pound in his chest and every other thing faded into the background, leaving just two of them behind.

He couldn't understand what it was but he could feel something tugging at his heart and squeezing it hard, making it difficult for him to breathe properly. It was the look in her eyes; the look of helplessness and shame. She wanted to be saved but at the same time, she had no hope of being saved. He watched as tears filled her eyes and Anton felt his wolf whine sadly.

She looked sad but wasn’t she the one that brought this upon herself? Why would she go around with the enemy and not just any other enemy but Tristan? He has never been one to buy a human. If he wanted someone, he would get them by hook or crook.

He wondered why she must have done what she did but he didn't have the time to think because his mouth suddenly had powers of its own. They opened and he found himself saying, “Ten thousands dollars."

Damn his wolf!
