Hanna's POV

"How dare you? How could you do this?" Maureen said, looking straight into my soul; her voice was drenched in disgust.

"I swear I didn't take it, Maureen." I said

I suddenly felt like I sounded like the maid—all of a sudden, the lying snake that had chosen to repay my kindness with a lie like this. I could tell it was pointless defending myself to Maureen; the way she was looking at me, I doubt she was willing to listen.

"Don't you dare say my name with those lying lips of yours." She said

"Aaron." I said

I looked to Aaron for help, but he was silent. Was that a good thing or was it a bad thing? I couldn't tell; my head was so foggy I couldn't even think properly.

His eyes turned to me and met mine; I got the answer I was looking for. Deep down, somewhere in there, he didn't believe me either. I was alone in this; how did this happen in the first place?

"I only stayed here because you told me too." I said to Aaron, trying to remind him that he was the one that

Aaron's POV I sank into the chair by the hospital bed, my eyes glued on my mother; they had been glued on her since I carried her out of the house and to the hospital. She hadn't had a stroke since the last time I found out; she was fine up until now, till Hanna triggered her by stealing from her. It still felt like a dream to me—actually, maybe more like a nightmare. The realization had hit me, followed by the stab of betrayal in my heart. The woman I loved and had given my heart to was no thing but a thief. Mom was right. For a second, I was about to be swayed by the way her eyes pleaded. I could tell she was going to cry—was it because she had been caught or something else?. As much as I fought against the possibility that she was the culprit, it made no sense that she wasn't. There was no motive for anyone to want to incriminate her, and frankly, she was the only one with a good enough opportunity, and the cherry on the cake, the bracelet, was in her purse. I had no idea whe

Maureen's POV"Your son just drove out." The nurse came in and said I rolled my eyes and pulled off the blanket, that was a tiring experience. Faking a stroke was not as easy as I expected it to be, but in the end, it had worked out the way I wanted it to. It was a sly devious move, but to me it was just a necessary evil. "Get me the doctor." I said and sat up. It felt like yesterday, the day I had come up with the perfect plan to get that lowlife out of my son's life, with Micheal. "First, we have to give it time." I said "Time? You want to give her more time to sink her claws into your son?" Micheal asked impatientlyOf course he didn't understand, he was too small minded, too much of a meathead to properly see through any plan. "If something should suddenly happen to ruin his impression of Hanna, who do you think would be the first suspect?" I said His eyes widened, now he understood what I was saying."But he'll still suspect you no matter what, you said you already tried

Hanna’s POV“Could you give me two minutes? I’ll be right back.” I said to the cab driver, I was sure I had some change somewhere in the house. He looked at me for a while with doubting eyes, then he just shook his head. “Don’t worry about it, ma'am. It’s on me.” He said I thanked him and got out of the cab. My eyes followed as the vehicle disappeared down the street. Maybe I still had some luck, or maybe not. I felt like the most unlucky woman in the world.I stepped into the house, and it suddenly felt foreign. Everything I looked at reminded me of Aaron; the way he looked at me, he believed them; he believed I was a thief. I closed my eyes to hold back the tears. I had cried so much my head was starting to hurt, my eyes couldn’t take anymore. I dragged myself up the stairs and to my room. I walked to the bed and collapsed on it, my eyes fixed on the ceiling.I couldn't do this; whatever this was, I just couldn’t bring myself to go through this. I knew for sure that I hadn't gone

Aaron’s POVTwo weeks passed and there was still nothing about Hanna—no messages, no call, no idea where she was. To be fair, I hadn’t really done anything to look for her. She had made her decision, which was to steal from my mother and then flee like a criminal when she got caught. Apparently, I wasn’t even worth an explanation, or maybe there was none to give.I stared at the laptop screen, my eyes sore and my head stinging slightly. The past two weeks had been horrible; I hadn’t gotten any sleep, and it was starting to show. The house felt empty without her in it. I tried to overlook and go on as normal, but it felt like she had taken along with her, something I couldn’t quite replace. The feeling only made me more angry; it reminded me of how much I had loved her. A reminder that I had let myself get deceived all in the name of love, and I hated myself even more because, deep down, a part of me wanted to overlook the incident if that was what it took to have her back home.“Sir?”

Hanna’s POV"Well, that problem’s solved.” Faith said as I checked out the phone I just got as a replacement for my old one.“It’s not quite the same, but it’ll do.” I said “The last one was bought by a millionaire, remember?” She said as she put on her heels.Yeah, Aaron had bought the last, while this one was bought with what I could spare from my bank account. “Thanks for letting me crash here for so long.” I said It had been over two weeks of me hiding at Faith’s place. I was trying to get my life together, but like I said, trying hadn’t been a very easy experience.“You don’t need to thank me; I’ve told you that already.” She said I smiled and nodded. She was all I had at the moment, so it only made sense that I felt in debt to her. “He asked about you a couple days ago.” She said “Who?” I asked“Aaron.” She answeredOh, personally, I thought he didn’t care, or at least wanted me behind bars or something. I tried my best to stay away from places that he might be, which was

Aaron’s POV“You’re back.” I said as Taylor walked into my office. She smiled as she moved closer to my desk, her jet black hair sweeping past her shoulders and bright hazel eyes fixed on me. I wasn’t expecting her again after our first meeting, which was a few days ago. She already picked out the property she wanted, so basically our business together was over.“I just thought I’d stop by and say hello.” She said causally “Sure.” I tried to hide the resistance in my voice. It wasn’t like I had anything against her; it was our parents attempt at matchmaking I didn’t quite like, and I had a feeling she was in on it as well.“Are you busy?” She asked “Yes, I am.” I liedI had already finished up the work I had to do a couple minutes before she stepped in.“Oh, that’s a bummer. Well, the work isn’t going anywhere, so I’m sure you can make some time.” She saidI ignored the comment and acted like I was working; normally I would have asked her to leave my office, but I didn’t have the e

Hanna had been staying with Faith before she moved in with me after all.“Is it recent?” I asked. “Yeah, the application was like last week.” He said “What job is it?” I asked “It’s for a waitress slot. Anything else you want to know?” He saidShe was a waitress now, from bar owner to interior decorator to thief, and now waitress, she was one bundle of surprises.“No, that will be all.” I said I hung up the call and called Faith to come into my office; I could feel my blood boiling. It felt like I was still woven in Hanna’s lies. She stepped into the office, her face plain and peaceful. Well, peaceful. Well, she didn’t know; I just found out, so it was more like ignorant bliss.I wanted to fire her, but was it really her fault?. She probably didn’t know she was harboring a thief under a roof, but still she lied to me again.“Um, you called for me,” she said nervously.

Hanna's POVA grunt escaped my lips, and I stretched my limbs. I was so tired, I just wanted to melt into the mattress and sleep for days, but I couldn't do that till Faith got back. I put her dinner out in the kitchen; I wasn't hungry, so I was skipping mine. I felt like I was finally starting to get used to all this again. It wasn't easy like it had been when I was with Aaron, but it was enough. The splattering sound of rain echoed through the house as I sat in the living room waiting. I heard the door open, and I sprung to my feet. Finally, what took her so long? "Hey, where have you been?" I said as I approached her. She didn't respond; actually, she didn't even look at me. She just walked past me and headed to the kitchen. That was weird; what happened to her? I followed behind her and reminded her silently; she poured herself a glass of water and gulped it down. Now I was starting to really get worried; the silence was killing me. "Faith," I said softly. She looked at me

Aaron’s POVThe low hum of the city filtered in through the windows as I sat in my office, staring at the paperwork spread out in front of me. The numbers blurred together, and I realized, for the first time in a long while, I was finding it impossible to concentrate.I leaned back in my chair, running a hand over my face. I’d been doing everything I could to keep things running smoothly at Spears Real Estate, especially after the chaos of Hanna’s kidnapping and the media storm that followed. But no matter how hard I tried to keep my head in the game, my thoughts always drifted back to her.Hanna.She’d been staying at my place ever since the hospital released her, and though she was physically healing, I could tell she was still struggling emotionally. The trauma from what Michael put her through was something that wasn’t going to fade overnight. But that wasn’t the only thing on her mind. I knew she was trying to figure out where she fit in my life—if she even had a place there. And

Hanna’s POVI had thought that once I was back on my feet, things would start feeling normal again. But standing here in Aaron’s penthouse, watching the city lights blink outside the window, it was clear that "normal" was nowhere in sight. Not after everything that happened with Michael. It had been a few weeks since I’d been released from the hospital, and while my body was healing, my mind was far from it. I still woke up in the middle of the night, heart pounding in my chest, haunted by the sound of Michael’s voice and the feel of cold steel against my skin. But even worse were the thoughts that followed—thoughts about Aaron, about what we’d become after all of this.Aaron had been nothing but supportive, always there when I needed him. He had gone from cold and distant to someone I could rely on, someone who made me feel safe in a way I hadn’t felt in a long time. But that safety came with complications. The more time I spent around him, the harder it was to ignore the growing ten

Aaron’s POVThe elevator doors slid shut behind me with a soft click, leaving me alone with my thoughts. I stared at my reflection in the polished metal, the dark circles under my eyes and the tightness in my jaw a testament to how much weight I’d been carrying lately. I looked like hell, but that didn’t matter right now. Not when Hanna was upstairs, resting, still healing from the trauma she had just gone through. And now, as if dealing with Michael hadn’t been enough, Maureen had reappeared, dragging her own shadow over everything. She had come to my home—Hanna’s temporary refuge—to check on her. Or so she said. But I knew better. Maureen was never one to act out of kindness or concern. There was always an agenda.I could still hear her voice, calm and composed, as she had stood in the hallway only moments ago, trying to justify her involvement with Michael. "It was never part of the plan for her to get hurt," she had said, as if that made everything better.I clenched my fists, a

  • Attracted to my billionaire boss    Chapter 148: Healing Together

Hanna’s POV The soft murmur of voices outside the bedroom filtered through the door, but I couldn’t bring myself to move. Every inch of my body ached, bruises blooming across my skin, a cruel reminder of how close I had come to losing everything. I shifted slightly in the bed, wincing as a sharp pain shot through my ribs. The bedroom was dim, the only light coming from a small bedside lamp casting a soft glow over the plush surroundings. Aaron’s apartment—no, his sanctuary—was a far cry from the cold, sterile hospital room I had woken up in earlier. He had insisted on bringing me here the moment the doctors cleared me for release, refusing to let me spend another night under harsh fluorescent lights and beeping monitors. I was grateful, but I couldn’t shake the heavyness in my chest. I hadn’t just escaped Michael’s grasp; I’d barely clawed my way out, and the cost was starting to weigh on me. Everything felt surreal. I was safe now—at least, physically—but my mind kept replaying

Hanna’s POVThe night air hit me like a cold slap, jolting me back to reality as my lungs burned with every gasping breath. My legs ached, but I kept running. I didn’t have a destination in mind—just the desperate urge to get away from Michael. The knife was still clutched tightly in my hand, and I could feel its weight grounding me, a reminder that I had finally fought back. But as I rounded the corner of the building, a crushing thought stopped me in my tracks. Aaron. I had left Aaron behind. What was freedom without him?My feet skidded to a halt, and I leaned against the brick wall, my heart pounding so hard I thought it might burst. How could I have run? I had left Aaron alone in that room with Michael, with a man who was out of his mind. Michael wouldn’t stop at anything. He was dangerous, and now Aaron was at his mercy.I pressed a hand to my chest, trying to calm the panic that was rising inside me, but the fear wouldn’t let up. Images of Aaron—bleeding, hurt, or worse—floode

  • Attracted to my billionaire boss    CHAPTER 146: Relief

HANNA As I emerged from behind the dumpster, Aaron's eyes locked onto mine, filled with relief and concern. His face, etched with worry, softened as he took in my disheveled appearance. I collapsed into his arms, tears streaming down my face, as the weight of our ordeal finally began to lift."Thank God you're safe," he whispered, holding me tightly. His warm breath against my ear sent shivers down my spine, but this time it was a comforting sensation. I felt protected, sheltered from the horrors we'd faced. The sirens and chaos surrounding us faded into the background as I buried my face in his chest, letting the steady beat of his heart calm my own racing pulse. We stood there for what felt like an eternity, the only sound being our ragged breathing. Aaron's hands cradled my face, his thumbs wiping away my tears as he searched my eyes for any sign of hurt. I knew he was looking for more than physical wounds; he was searching for the emotional scars that Michael had inflicted. I tri

Hanna’s POVMy heart raced in my chest as I felt the weight of the knife in my hand. The cold steel was both a comfort and a curse. I had finally found a way to fight back, but I wasn’t sure how far I was willing to go to protect myself. Michael’s eyes widened in shock as he took a step back, his hand pressed against the wound. “Are you insane?” he hissed, a mix of disbelief and anger in his voice. The blood seeped through his fingers, staining the fabric of his shirt. “Let me go, Michael,” I said, my voice steady despite the chaos swirling inside me. “This is over.”He took another cautious step back, assessing the situation, but I could see the anger boiling in his eyes. “You think you can just stab me and walk out of here?” he spat, a cruel smile creeping across his face. “You don’t understand who you’re dealing with.”“I understand perfectly,” I shot back, my grip tightening on the knife. “I know you’re a coward who thinks he can control everything with fear. But not anymore.”M

Hanna’s POV“Are you done?” Micheal askedMy eyes were on the keys he had hooked to his belt buckle, the keys to the door.I nodded and pushed the plate of half-eaten steak towards him.I held my breath and watched his face for a reaction as he picked up the plate and left the room nothing. He hadn’t noticed anything, great. I slid the knife out ofmy pocket and held the sharp edge to the wires binding my arms. It was extremely uncomfortable having to hold the handle with my fingertips while trying to cut through the wires.Fortunately, it was slowly making a dent, but it was torture seeing how slow it was. I was starting to lose hope in using the knife when I heard footsteps approaching, and I hurriedly slid the knife underneath my buttocks and sat on it. Michael returned back, this time with my phone to his ear. He was talking to someone, and there was a satisfied grin on his face. Had Faith managed to get him what he wanted? I felt bad for her; she was dragged into all this simply
