Hanna's POV

We ate dinner in silence. I'd occasionally steal a few glances at him, but his eyes were always down, fixed on his plate. I couldn't tell what he was thinking, and it was driving me insane.

He had said he forgave me; he even kissed me to convince me, but I still felt bad. I wasn't expecting him to ease my guilt;; that was on me, but the fact that he seemed withdrawn from me now was the real torture.

"How was work?" I asked

Since I couldn't take the silence anymore, I might as well start small talk.

"Good,," he said.

"Good to know." I said and basically gave up.

"Oh, that reminds me." He said and finally looked up, "My mom sent a couple of invites for the both of us."

Okay, this was a good start to a conversation, but what were we being invited to??

"Invites for what?" I asked

"She's hosting a small party at her place." He explained

"Any special occasion?" I asked

"Not really," he answered.

Leave it to rich people to plan a party for no reason. I wasn't sure I wa

Hanna's POV"It's a pleasure to meet you; I'm a bit shocked, I must confess." Mr. Callahan said I smiled politely and hoped Aaron would lead us away already. As if reading my mind, Aaron smiled and politely told him we had to leave. "Well, we have to go meet my mom; have a nice night." He said, and he led me through the crowd.I spotted Maureen with a can of elderly-looking women; she looks easy and natural with the environment. I guess maybe she did have a point before, thinking I didn't fit into the social class."There you are." She said when she saw us approaching. She used a hand to move a lady that was in front of her and walked towards us. Not to be a causer of mischief or anything, but if I were that lady, I'd be offended, or maybe rich people were just so used to treating each other like trash; that would explain a lot. She hugged me gently, and Aaron gave her a kiss on the cheek."Did you just get here?" She asked, facing me."Yeah, not so long ago," I answered."Have

Hanna's POV "I don't suppose that's really any of your business, Darlene; you should concern yourself with your own family rather than others." Maureen spoke before I could answer the question myself. I looked to her, surprised at her defending me. She was defending me, right? Because a part of me felt like she was hiding the parts of me she found disgracing; I couldn't really blame her though; wasn't I hiding them as well? Darlene rolled her eyes and sipped on her wine. I would have felt back for her, but she was a nosy old woman after all. "At least tell us how you met Aaron; I never pictured him as the kind to get in a relationship; he always had an eye for business instead." Margaret said "He was my knight in shining armor; he helped me through a difficult time in my life." I said that was the best I could think of without really giving anything away. Maureen remained silent and sipped from her glass; maybe she wasn't very pleased by my choice of words, or maybe she was just

AARON'S POV I caught a glimpse of Hanna headed up the stairs, and I felt a small bubble of worry build inside me. What had happened? Where was she going? "Excuse me, gentlemen, I have something extremely urgent I must attend to." I excused myself for the group of businessmen I had been talking to. I searched around for my mom and instantly spotted her; she was by the water fountain having a conversation with someone I didn't quite recognize. Brilliant choice Mother, you chose to leave Hanna stranded and go talk to some stranger. Typical. I walked as fast as I could and eventually caught up to her as she walked down the corridor. It was pretty quiet, and my steps were considerably loud, so I was surprised when she hadn't even turned or flinched as I approached her. What was she thinking about? I put my hand on her shoulder, and I felt her jerk. She turned around, and I met her eyes. She looked tired, like she was exhausted and almost on the verge of tears. Maybe the party

Hanna's POV I had never been so happy to see the sun shining, not like this at least. I slid myself out of bed, Aaron was still peacefully asleep beside me, and went to take a shower. Due to the fact that our staying over was unplanned, I was stuck with having to wear the dinner gown I had on from last night. I slowly stroted through the corridor; it was quiet and peaceful—nothing like last night. The anxiety and fear that had filled me had all faded away like a bad dream. I ran my finger over the smooth walls; something about it felt magical. To be honest, I felt like the girl in the fairytale on her first time in a castle, but rather than a castle, I was in a 21st-century mansion, and this was real life. Deep down, I had this sick gut feeling that made me feel like my story wasn't going to be like fairytales. Last night, I agreed to stay and feel asleep in the guest bathroom. I hadn't realized how tired I was till my head met the pillow and everything else went black. I was o

Hanna's POV"What does it look like?" I asked, trying to diffuse the situation. Maureen shifted her eyes to me again; the anger in it was unhinging. "The one I wore last night, it's thin and shiny." She said Bracelet, last night, I tried to make a mental picture of her outfit. I remember her dress, her hairdo, and even her necklace, but I didn't recall seeing a bracelet. Was it possible the piece of jewelry was so dainty I hadn't even noticed it, or maybe Maureen had never actually worn it?"Someone better tell me something or all your careers are going down the drain." She said, her voice dropping a bit; she was still visibly angry, but her strength seemed to be waning. The staff cowered in fear; I couldn't help but feel sorry for them all. How were they going to pay back a million-dollar debt? I put her hand on Maureen's shoulder and tried to get her to calm down; she was going to rupture a vein if she kept shouting like this. "Maybe you should just take it slow." I said Her

Aaron's POVThe kitchen went so silent you could probably hear a pin dropped, every head turned to my side, to Hanna. I looked at her as well and she had a confused horrified expression on her face, she had no idea what was going on. It couldn't have been her, it just couldn't.I felt my cool wash off and anger boil through my veins, my eyes shifted to the maid that had accused her in the first place. The ungrateful little rat, Hanna was trying to help her out and she had accused her instead. "I saw her last night." The maid said "Shut your lying gutter of a mouth!" I ordered and her lips sealed From the corner of my eyes, I could see Hanna raise her head to look at me but I didn't look back at her, I was too angry and too confused. What in the world was going on? "What do you think this is??" I released my grip around Hanna's waist and walked closer to the maid, "some kind of childish gane where you can just put the blame on someone else." The maid cowered backwards before I co

Hanna's POV "How dare you? How could you do this?" Maureen said, looking straight into my soul; her voice was drenched in disgust. "I swear I didn't take it, Maureen." I said I suddenly felt like I sounded like the maid—all of a sudden, the lying snake that had chosen to repay my kindness with a lie like this. I could tell it was pointless defending myself to Maureen; the way she was looking at me, I doubt she was willing to listen. "Don't you dare say my name with those lying lips of yours." She said "Aaron." I said I looked to Aaron for help, but he was silent. Was that a good thing or was it a bad thing? I couldn't tell; my head was so foggy I couldn't even think properly. His eyes turned to me and met mine; I got the answer I was looking for. Deep down, somewhere in there, he didn't believe me either. I was alone in this; how did this happen in the first place? "I only stayed here because you told me too." I said to Aaron, trying to remind him that he was the one that

  • Attracted to my billionaire boss    Chapter 126: Hanna's gone

Aaron's POV I sank into the chair by the hospital bed, my eyes glued on my mother; they had been glued on her since I carried her out of the house and to the hospital. She hadn't had a stroke since the last time I found out; she was fine up until now, till Hanna triggered her by stealing from her. It still felt like a dream to me—actually, maybe more like a nightmare. The realization had hit me, followed by the stab of betrayal in my heart. The woman I loved and had given my heart to was no thing but a thief. Mom was right. For a second, I was about to be swayed by the way her eyes pleaded. I could tell she was going to cry—was it because she had been caught or something else?. As much as I fought against the possibility that she was the culprit, it made no sense that she wasn't. There was no motive for anyone to want to incriminate her, and frankly, she was the only one with a good enough opportunity, and the cherry on the cake, the bracelet, was in her purse. I had no idea whe

Aaron’s POVThe low hum of the city filtered in through the windows as I sat in my office, staring at the paperwork spread out in front of me. The numbers blurred together, and I realized, for the first time in a long while, I was finding it impossible to concentrate.I leaned back in my chair, running a hand over my face. I’d been doing everything I could to keep things running smoothly at Spears Real Estate, especially after the chaos of Hanna’s kidnapping and the media storm that followed. But no matter how hard I tried to keep my head in the game, my thoughts always drifted back to her.Hanna.She’d been staying at my place ever since the hospital released her, and though she was physically healing, I could tell she was still struggling emotionally. The trauma from what Michael put her through was something that wasn’t going to fade overnight. But that wasn’t the only thing on her mind. I knew she was trying to figure out where she fit in my life—if she even had a place there. And

Hanna’s POVI had thought that once I was back on my feet, things would start feeling normal again. But standing here in Aaron’s penthouse, watching the city lights blink outside the window, it was clear that "normal" was nowhere in sight. Not after everything that happened with Michael. It had been a few weeks since I’d been released from the hospital, and while my body was healing, my mind was far from it. I still woke up in the middle of the night, heart pounding in my chest, haunted by the sound of Michael’s voice and the feel of cold steel against my skin. But even worse were the thoughts that followed—thoughts about Aaron, about what we’d become after all of this.Aaron had been nothing but supportive, always there when I needed him. He had gone from cold and distant to someone I could rely on, someone who made me feel safe in a way I hadn’t felt in a long time. But that safety came with complications. The more time I spent around him, the harder it was to ignore the growing ten

Aaron’s POVThe elevator doors slid shut behind me with a soft click, leaving me alone with my thoughts. I stared at my reflection in the polished metal, the dark circles under my eyes and the tightness in my jaw a testament to how much weight I’d been carrying lately. I looked like hell, but that didn’t matter right now. Not when Hanna was upstairs, resting, still healing from the trauma she had just gone through. And now, as if dealing with Michael hadn’t been enough, Maureen had reappeared, dragging her own shadow over everything. She had come to my home—Hanna’s temporary refuge—to check on her. Or so she said. But I knew better. Maureen was never one to act out of kindness or concern. There was always an agenda.I could still hear her voice, calm and composed, as she had stood in the hallway only moments ago, trying to justify her involvement with Michael. "It was never part of the plan for her to get hurt," she had said, as if that made everything better.I clenched my fists, a

  • Attracted to my billionaire boss    Chapter 148: Healing Together

Hanna’s POV The soft murmur of voices outside the bedroom filtered through the door, but I couldn’t bring myself to move. Every inch of my body ached, bruises blooming across my skin, a cruel reminder of how close I had come to losing everything. I shifted slightly in the bed, wincing as a sharp pain shot through my ribs. The bedroom was dim, the only light coming from a small bedside lamp casting a soft glow over the plush surroundings. Aaron’s apartment—no, his sanctuary—was a far cry from the cold, sterile hospital room I had woken up in earlier. He had insisted on bringing me here the moment the doctors cleared me for release, refusing to let me spend another night under harsh fluorescent lights and beeping monitors. I was grateful, but I couldn’t shake the heavyness in my chest. I hadn’t just escaped Michael’s grasp; I’d barely clawed my way out, and the cost was starting to weigh on me. Everything felt surreal. I was safe now—at least, physically—but my mind kept replaying

Hanna’s POVThe night air hit me like a cold slap, jolting me back to reality as my lungs burned with every gasping breath. My legs ached, but I kept running. I didn’t have a destination in mind—just the desperate urge to get away from Michael. The knife was still clutched tightly in my hand, and I could feel its weight grounding me, a reminder that I had finally fought back. But as I rounded the corner of the building, a crushing thought stopped me in my tracks. Aaron. I had left Aaron behind. What was freedom without him?My feet skidded to a halt, and I leaned against the brick wall, my heart pounding so hard I thought it might burst. How could I have run? I had left Aaron alone in that room with Michael, with a man who was out of his mind. Michael wouldn’t stop at anything. He was dangerous, and now Aaron was at his mercy.I pressed a hand to my chest, trying to calm the panic that was rising inside me, but the fear wouldn’t let up. Images of Aaron—bleeding, hurt, or worse—floode

  • Attracted to my billionaire boss    CHAPTER 146: Relief

HANNA As I emerged from behind the dumpster, Aaron's eyes locked onto mine, filled with relief and concern. His face, etched with worry, softened as he took in my disheveled appearance. I collapsed into his arms, tears streaming down my face, as the weight of our ordeal finally began to lift."Thank God you're safe," he whispered, holding me tightly. His warm breath against my ear sent shivers down my spine, but this time it was a comforting sensation. I felt protected, sheltered from the horrors we'd faced. The sirens and chaos surrounding us faded into the background as I buried my face in his chest, letting the steady beat of his heart calm my own racing pulse. We stood there for what felt like an eternity, the only sound being our ragged breathing. Aaron's hands cradled my face, his thumbs wiping away my tears as he searched my eyes for any sign of hurt. I knew he was looking for more than physical wounds; he was searching for the emotional scars that Michael had inflicted. I tri

Hanna’s POVMy heart raced in my chest as I felt the weight of the knife in my hand. The cold steel was both a comfort and a curse. I had finally found a way to fight back, but I wasn’t sure how far I was willing to go to protect myself. Michael’s eyes widened in shock as he took a step back, his hand pressed against the wound. “Are you insane?” he hissed, a mix of disbelief and anger in his voice. The blood seeped through his fingers, staining the fabric of his shirt. “Let me go, Michael,” I said, my voice steady despite the chaos swirling inside me. “This is over.”He took another cautious step back, assessing the situation, but I could see the anger boiling in his eyes. “You think you can just stab me and walk out of here?” he spat, a cruel smile creeping across his face. “You don’t understand who you’re dealing with.”“I understand perfectly,” I shot back, my grip tightening on the knife. “I know you’re a coward who thinks he can control everything with fear. But not anymore.”M

Hanna’s POV“Are you done?” Micheal askedMy eyes were on the keys he had hooked to his belt buckle, the keys to the door.I nodded and pushed the plate of half-eaten steak towards him.I held my breath and watched his face for a reaction as he picked up the plate and left the room nothing. He hadn’t noticed anything, great. I slid the knife out ofmy pocket and held the sharp edge to the wires binding my arms. It was extremely uncomfortable having to hold the handle with my fingertips while trying to cut through the wires.Fortunately, it was slowly making a dent, but it was torture seeing how slow it was. I was starting to lose hope in using the knife when I heard footsteps approaching, and I hurriedly slid the knife underneath my buttocks and sat on it. Michael returned back, this time with my phone to his ear. He was talking to someone, and there was a satisfied grin on his face. Had Faith managed to get him what he wanted? I felt bad for her; she was dragged into all this simply
