Lily rushed to my front, spreading her arm out to shield me from the man whose face was still obscured by the hood over his head.

"Don't you dare try anything stupid", Lily threw a glare at the man, eyeing him as he let out a loud, derisive chuckle at her words.

"I won't hesitate to bury my fist into your heart and watch you bleed out to death", his gravelly voice sent a shot of fear through me and I could tell Lily was scared as well, but she still stood still as a shield, protecting me from him.

"What do you want?", I asked, my voice surprisingly steady unlike the war raging in my mind.

"That's a very good question", the man replied, bringing his hand to his chin as he rubbed slowly in deep thought. "You see, my clear instruction is to get rid of you, as simple as that. So, if you could just stay still while I perform my assignment, I'd very much appreciate that."
