Amber
Werewolves and lycans don’t get along. My kind turns into beautiful wolves, while lycans turn into these two-legged giant furry creatures of pure destruction. It’s logical for us werewolves to be scared of them, right?
Most people in my pack would agree with me, so it’s upsetting that I’m about to be forced into an arranged marriage with a lycan of all people.
“Why do I have to marry Alpha Zeke or Beta Sebastian from the Lycanrock pack?” I ask my parents in a shrill voice.
We were having a normal dinner a second ago, and suddenly they dropped this HUGE bomb on me—what were they thinking? Gosh. I think I’m close to having a panic attack!
My parents exchange looks with each other, and I frown at their expressions. They seem surprised I’m raising my voice at them, but I can’t help it. I usually never raise my voice or complain about things. As the Snowflake pack’s Omega, I seldom make myself heard, but this is a matter I can’t ignore.
“Because our pack needs to keep the peace with the lycan pack, honey,” my mom says and slumps her shoulders in her chair, looking defeated. “And Alpha Ashlee decided that the Omega—you—should be the one to marry for this alliance. I’m sorry, honey.”
Tears gather in my eyes. I’m not liking the idea of being traded for a peace treaty. “But I don’t even know them!” I argue. “What if they won’t like me and end up killing me? Lycans are known for being violent! Not to mention they are all super tall and muscular!”
“That’s why we’re sending you to their territory for a month before the wedding,” my dad says, attempting to reassure me. “You will have a chance to get to know them and see their way of life. Also, it’s not like you have to marry both of the brothers. You only have to pick one, either Zeke or Sebastian.”
I groan, feeling like a prisoner being sent off to her captors. But I know better than to argue or disobey my parents, especially when it concerns our pack’s safety. The pack comes first, and deep inside, I want to feel useful.
My mom places her hand over mine on top of the table. “And if you don’t like Zeke or Sebastian, there is a third brother, but he isn’t of age yet.”
This piques my interest. If there is a third brother and he isn’t of age yet, that means we can’t get married. I’m eighteen and perfectly legal—it would be creepy for a child to marry me already. But if I pick the third brother, I can avoid marriage for at least a few years...
“How old is the third brother?” I ask, already knowing I’m going to pick him as the lycan I will marry.
“He is just thirteen, honey,” my mom replies. “His name is Alex, and he hasn’t even entered puberty yet—are you sure you want to marry that one? He won’t be able to keep you safe at this age, and the wedding won’t happen until he turns eighteen. That’s in four years and a couple of months.”
“I want him,” I don’t even hesitate. Four more years of freedom sounds like a dream come true. “Do I have to meet him before we get married?” Please say no.
“Obviously,” my dad laughs. “I’m sure Alex wants to see his future wife and mate before he turns eighteen.”
I arch an eyebrow. “Lycans pick their mate, right?”
“Yes, so you will be marked by Alex once you’re both legal,” my mom explains.
I thoughtfully nod. “And let me get this straight: if I pick Alex as my future husband, then I get to keep living here until he comes of age?”
“Yes, that’s right, honey,” my dad says with a small smile. “You will continue to live here with us until the wedding day when Alex turns eighteen.”
I let out a sigh of relief, and my parents seem to relax a little, knowing that I’m not completely against the idea of an arranged marriage. Deep down, I know it’s the right thing to do for our pack. And at least I have four years and a couple of months left to live before my life gets ruined.
The next few weeks go by in a blur as I prepare for my visit to the Lycanrock pack. I pack light and bring only a few essentials with me: clothes, a book to read in the car, my phone, and a picture of my family.
The drive there is rather eventless, and when I step out of the car, I’m greeted by Alpha Zeke and Beta Sebastian. They both tower over me, their muscular frames intimidating. Everything about them screams wealth and incredible power. Zeke is especially enormous, with dark hair and broad shoulders. Sebastian is a little more feminine with long eyelashes and curly blonde hair, but he is still huge.
“Welcome to our pack, little Omega,” Alpha Zeke says with a smile that doesn’t quite reach his eyes. “How was the journey? Comfortable?”
I try to smile back, but my nerves get the best of me. “Th-thank you,” I stutter. “And it was...alright.”
Beta Sebastian chuckles and steps closer to hand me a red rose. When I take it in my hands, he winks. “For you...” He says and grins at me. “Shame you didn’t pick me as your mate. I’m the romantic one,” he nods at Zeke. “And while Zeke is the one that always gets in trouble, he also would have made a better mate than Alex, you know.”
I arch an eyebrow, daring to speak up. “W-what is so wrong about picking Alex?”
Zeke’s smile disappears, and he steps closer, looming over me. “Alex is just a kid. He won’t be able to protect you or our pack. You need someone who can provide for you, protect you, and give you strong pups.”
Sebastian nods in agreement, his blue eyes sparkling with mischief. “Why would you want to wait four years for a kid when you can have one of us now? We could make you very happy.” He leans in closer, his breath hot on my neck.
I take a step back, feeling trapped. “I-I don’t want to get married yet,” I manage to say.
Zeke and Sebastian leer at me like creeps, looking like they are about to say something before the doors to the mansion open. I’m very grateful for the intrusion and lift my chin, widening my eyes when I see a smaller lycan coming down the stairs. This one isn’t huge, but he looks very irritated.
“Stop bothering my mate,” the lycan, who must be Alex, says as he takes me in. He can’t be taller than five feet, two inches shorter than me. I would find him cute if it weren’t for the evil smirk tugging on his lips as he steps closer to me. “Ah, so this is my mate and ticket to becoming the future Alpha of the Lycanrock pack.”
I stare down at Alex. He has the same beautiful black hair as Zeke, but his eyes are a bright blue that stands out against his light tan skin. His face is mischievous and inviting at the same time, full of youthful energy.
But there is something about how he looks at me, like I’m prey instead of his future mate, that unsettles me.
I nervously clear my throat before turning away from Alex’s scrutinizing gaze back to Zeke and Sebastian, who are both staring down Alex with a mixture of contempt and annoyance on their faces.
“You won’t take my spot yet,” Zeke growls. “And Amber could always change her mind. Dad said whoever marries her will become the Alpha.”
“And I intend on marrying her,” Alex says matter-of-factly.
Zeke snorts. “Not if I steal her.”
“Steal her?!” Alex gasps.
“That’s right, pipsqueak,” Sebastian says and uses Alex as an armrest, giving him a shove. “You’re just a kid; what could you possibly do to stop us?”
Alex’s smirk widens as he casually shrugs Sebastian’s muscular arm off of him. “Oh, I don’t know,” he says with a glint in his eye. “Maybe win her over with my charm? I might be younger than you, but I’m way better company.”
Zeke scoffs and turns to me. “Don’t let his words fool you, little Omega. Alex may be charming, but he’s still just a pup. He can’t protect you, but we most definitely can.”
I look between them all, feeling more and more uncomfortable by the second. I’m not sure what they are expecting me to do, but before I can say anything, Alex holds out his hand for me to take with a small smile. The earlier darkness is gone from his face, and what is left is just pure childish innocence.
“Your parents wrote in the latest letter that you like flowers,” he says, his voice softer now all of a sudden. “Do you want me to show you the garden? It’s quite impressive.”
I take his hand hesitantly, feeling the heat of his skin against mine. “Sure,” I say softly, trying to ignore the fiery looks Zeke and Sebastian are throwing our way.
As we walk towards the garden, I can feel Alex’s eyes on me the entire time. It’s a little unnerving, but at least he isn’t as aggressive as the other two.
When we finally reach the garden, I’m struck by its beauty. There are roses of every color imaginable, along with other flowers I can’t name.
“It’s beautiful,” I say in awe. “Roses are my favorite kind of flower.”
Alex smiles at me proudly. “My mother loved them too, and she always had a talent for gardening. She taught me everything I know.” He pauses, looking thoughtfully at the roses. “She passed away a few years ago, but I still come here from time to time to tend to them.”
“I’m sorry for your loss,” I say softly, feeling a pang of sympathy for him. Losing someone you love is never easy.
Alex shrugs, his eyes still fixed on the flowers. “It’s alright. My father is the Alpha of our pack now, and I have big shoes to fill when he retires.” He turns to me, his gaze intense. “But I won’t let that stop me from being a good mate to you,” he smirks. “And don’t worry about my age. I have a feeling I will catch up to Zeke and Sebastian soon enough.”
My heart lurches, and I frown. “Please don’t.”
That surprises him. “Why not?”
“They are so tall and big,” I grimace. “It’s intimidating, actually. Werewolves are smaller, you know?”
Alex chuckles at me, the sound deep and throaty even though he is just a kid. He moves closer to me until he is only a few inches away. I can feel his breath on my skin, warm and inviting. “Don’t worry,” he says in a low voice that sends shivers up my spine. “I will always protect you and be kind to you, no matter how big or small I am.”
I stare down at him, feeling a sudden pull toward him that I can’t explain. The way he looks at me, like I’m the only thing that matters in the world, is both thrilling and terrifying at the same time.
“Anyway,” Alex turns around. “Do you want to eat cake? I love sweets and had my servants bake some earlier.”
I snap out of my stupor and giggle. “Sounds good. I’m a big fan of sweets, too, you know. I actually love baking.”
“Baking and gardening?”
“Uh-huh.”
He whistles. “Wow, I’m a lucky man. Not only are you very pretty with your white hair and blue eyes, but you are also a woman of many talents.”
I smile at the compliments. Alex seems nice. Perhaps the future won’t be that bad after all? Lycans are scary, and I’m not a big fan of Zeke and Sebastian. They intimidate me, but Alex?
I look down at his smiling face and feel a sense of relief. He is cute and tiny, and I doubt I need to be very fearful of him. The guy loves cake and gardening, so I think I will be safe. I doubt a lot can change in four almost five years. Right?
AmberFour years and a couple of months later...I stare at my own reflection in the mirror, nervous because this marks my last day of being a free woman. Alex will turn eighteen in a week, and I’m heading there before that happens to get to know him again. I’m nervous, excited, and also plain terrified of what might happen.A car is coming to pick me up in an hour, and then I’m leaving the Snowflake pack forever. The Lycanrock pack will turn into my new family, and the thought of that is unsettling. I’m a werewolf and an Omega at that—if I felt weak and small in my own pack, just imagine how it will be to be surrounded by literal giants. Lycans are taller than what is normal and packed with muscles. It’s going to be nerve-wracking to become their Luna. What if they will laugh at having a werewolf for their Luna? It’s the second most important role in the pack hierarchy. Sighing, I glance down at the picture I took four, almost five years ago, with Alex. It’s of us smiling at the ca
AmberAs the car turns onto a dirt road leading to the Lycanrock pack’s mansion, my eyes widen in awe. The house is familiar, but it’s been almost five years since I last was here and a lot has changed. The garden is more beautiful, with plenty of new fruit trees and flowers, and the house has been repainted in a warm cream color that makes it look very inviting. Yet, for some reason, my heart thunders inside my chest. This is it. The moment I’ve been waiting for. The moment when life as I know it ends and a new chapter in my life shall begin. The car comes to a stop, and the driver steps out to open my door. I take his hand, and he helps me out of the car. My knees shake as I stand up straight, trying to calm my nerves.Suddenly, the front door of the mansion opens, and a tall figure appears on the threshold. My heart races as I recognize Zeke and Sebastian. They are as tall and intimidating as ever, grinning at me with their hair neatly combed back and their muscular arms stretchin
AlexToday is a shit day, and I’m close to punching the tiled wall as I stand under the water stream inside the bathroom. I’m angry at life and also angry at myself for feeling this way. I’m beyond pissed off when I should be happy. Amber, my future wife, and mate, is finally here at my estate, and she is just as cute and lovely as before...perhaps a tad bit smaller than my memories allow me to remember? I can’t recall her being quite as delicate as she is now, even though I suppose she can’t have shrunk. Though, it’s not like I mind her size. What I do mind, however, is the fact that she immediately started undressing after I jokingly asked her to. Like, what the actual flipping fuck?! Would she start undressing that easily to any random man that asked her to? Groaning to myself, I turn off the water and head into my bedroom, freezing when I see my older brother Zeke lounging in my bed with a towel wrapped around his head.“What the fuck are you doing here?!”“Hmm, what am I doing
AmberI shriek in surprise when the door to my room swings open behind me. I turn around in shock, staring at Alex, who stands there like a statue. His mouth is agape, and although I’m naked, all I can focus on is his gaze as it travels along my body. I can’t even hide from his eyes. The nearest towel is across the room on my bed, and my skin prickles with anticipation when he doesn’t turn away. “W-what are you staring at?!” I try to yell, but it comes out as a pathetic cry.Alex quickly raises his hands in surrender. “Whoa! Don’t worry, I’m not missing anything spectacular here. You don’t even have any curves!”My face reddens, and I feel a wave of anger course through me. How dare he make such crude remarks about my body! I might not be the curviest model out there, but I’ve spent a lot of work keeping myself thin! But of course, I don’t dare to say that to Alex. I’m too shy around him, and my heart races as Alex steps closer to me and begins to laugh.“Hey,” he says between chuckl
AmberI’ve spent more than an hour talking to Alex. We are sitting on my bed while munching on cookies that his butler delivered us. It was the same one that drove me here. His name is Smede, and I like him, even if he is a scary Lycan. Alex, on the other hand...well...I glance at Alex when he stuffs his mouth full of cookies before swallowing. He doesn’t even chew before he burps and looks at me with a raised eyebrow. “I’m not going to apologize for my bad manners. This is my home.”My cheeks turn molten hot. His stomach is jutting out a little from eating so many cookies, but it’s still pretty obvious he has a six-pack underneath his clothes. “Umm...I-I wasn’t expecting you to do that...” I mumble. Alex grins mischievously, “Well, you better get used to me having no manners because that’s just how I roll,” he says while patting his stomach. “This is also a house where only men live, so eh...things might smell like cheeseballs.”I cringe at his words and nod awkwardly. I’m not sure
AlexI drag my tired ass up the stairs after a grueling workout in the basement. I expect to be alone on my eighteenth birthday, but to my surprise, Amber waits for me in the kitchen. Amber has been avoiding me like the plague for the past week, but today she is decorating my cake, her face unreadable as she avoids meeting my gaze. The tension between us is palpable. Now that I’m finally legal, our wedding can take place...if Amber still wants me, that is. She was acting really strange when we fell asleep in the same bed. The little thing touched my abs and then ran away as if my skin had burnt her. Doesn’t she like my muscles?I meet her gaze, hoping that some miracle will happen, and we discover we are fated mates, but nothing happens. Fuck. That means Amber’s mate is still out there. Like, I can claim her as mine since I’m a Lycan, but until then, there is an ACTUAL guy waiting for her out there. “Umm...” Amber’s frightened eyes meet mine. She seems uncomfortable with having me s
AmberIt feels odd walking into Magic Academy. This is where I will finish my degree and where I will take additional courses because, let’s face it: I rather not spend too much time at home. I intend on avoiding Alex Lycania like the goddamn plague because that guy has the ability to hurt me by just opening his stupid mouth....it just sucks that Alex seems to be a superstar on campus. There is a whole wall committed to him. He is apparently the team captain of the Lycanball team, The Hellwolves—a real original name right there for a sports team that is entirely made up of Lycans. I rolled my eyes so far into my head the first time I heard it that I, for one second, feared I would end up blind. Sighing to myself, I reach down into my backpack to pick up my laptop. I’m hanging out on the bleachers of the Lycanball stadium. Alex is running on the field below, and while I know I shouldn’t be watching him, I’m very attracted to his muscles and shirtless torso. Not coming here to study w
AlexI hate parties. In my opinion, they are a huge waste of time. I’m the Lycan King and the Alpha of my pack—I should be helping my Beta, Zeke, do paperwork at home. Or train with my warrior Lycans with my Gamma, Sebastian. Even the gym would be time more well-spent.The only thing besides Alpha work I have time for is Lycan ball since I plan for that sport to turn into a career. It also helps me keep muscle mass. But this? This is just misery!I sigh to myself and run my hand through my wet hair. I barely had time to shower after practice since Amber’s new friend, Emma, was stressing so much. She kept telling Amber that we needed to go if we didn’t want to stand in a party queue for free beer, and so here I am, sitting on a chair at a freaking frat party. Could I get any more miserable?“Are you having fun?”I look up at Amber. She is almost as tall as me sitting when she is standing. Utterly adorable. But what is less cute is that she is holding a red plastic cup filled with who-k
AshleeMy life’s been a joke for a week. I’m the Alpha of my pack and shouldn’t be stuck in a damn prison cell, but here I am, captured by Alpha Alex and my former pack mate, Amber. She used to be our little Omega, but she smells different now. Stronger. Maybe she is forming a pack of her own?Either way, I must find a way to get out of this dungeon. Every minute spent here is a waste of time—who knows what Emma is up to? She could be hurting my pack members, just like she fractured my mind with her magic.Suddenly, I hear footsteps. It’s the ones belonging to Edison, the giant drider that happens to be my mate. I pull my legs to my body and wrap my arms around them. He might be my mate, but I think he is scarier than the others.“Are you hungry?”I remain silent, avoiding eye contact with Edison. Despite his tall and attractive human form, I know it is just a facade to hide the truth: he is a human-eating monster. I’m not sure what’s more frightening: the fact that his eyes are pitch
EdisonI am utterly perplexed. Amber is my master and, as her familiar, I would do anything to protect her. Our bond is unbreakable because of our contract and because I genuinely care for her as a friend. But now things have changed. The little human lying on the couch is my mate, and even though she tried to kill Amber before she fell unconscious, my heart still pounds for her.Alpha Emma. When she makes a noise in her sleep, I force myself to look away. Every instinct is telling me to pick her up and hold her in my arms. Even if she is an Alpha werewolf, she seems so vulnerable and small in my eyes. It makes me want to protect her…even if she hardly deserves that. Fuck. What is the matter with me? She is supposed to be the enemy!“Uhh…” Ashlee sits up on the couch but pauses when she notices her handcuffs. It’s special ones that will prevent her from shape-shifting. Eris put them on her, and they are apparently magic-infused. “Where am I?”“This is Alpha Alex’s mansion.”I wait for
AmberAshlee’s eyes flash silver for a moment, and I see her struggle, her head whipping back and forth. But then, the mania returns, and she lunges for my throat again. I buck and wriggle beneath her, but she’s too heavy.Suddenly, a loud growl reverberates through the forest. It’s Alex - or maybe Eris? Does it belong to a Lycan or a dragon? In this commotion, it’s hard to tell. The figure charges towards us, shifting mid-air into a massive...dridder?My eyes widen with realization - this is Edison coming to save me, not Alex, or Eris. I almost laugh at that. To think my familiar is more knowing of when I’m in danger is laughable.“What are you doing to Amber?!” Edison shouts before his massive hand swoops down, grabbing Ashlee and holding her in front of his glowing, spider eyes. “Just who the hell do you think you are attacking my master like that?”I shift back into a human, staring up at Edison, who is holding Ashlee as if she is nothing more than a toy.“Edison,” I say, gaining
AmberSuddenly, the world tilts back into focus. Eris is still kneeling before me, his mouth glistening with my arousal and a self-satisfied smirk on his face. I’m still trembling, my legs weak from the intense orgasm that has just ripped through me.Eris rises slowly, his gaze never leaving mine as he pulls up my clothes to cover me again. His hands are still trembling slightly as he helps me get dressed. It’s a strange contrast to his earlier aggression, and I find it equally attractive.“Why did you stop?” The words tumble out of my mouth before I can stop them.Eris seems startled by my question but recovers quickly. “I didn’t want to mark you against your will,” he says, his voice as rough as sandpaper. “When I make you mine, completely and utterly mine, it’s going to be after you begged me to. It’s also going to be in a bed where I can worship your body properly.”My heart skips a beat at his words. Eris leans in close, so close I can feel the warmth radiating off him. His scent
Amber“You slept with Alex, didn’t you?” Eris’ voice is like a gunshot, his expression twisted into something between disbelief and betrayal.I can’t look at him as I nod slowly. “I did.” It’s the worst thing I’ve ever done to him. I had sex with Alex right under his nose, knowing how much it hurts him. We are mates, but...I was with Alex first. “It seems I can’t stay away from him.” I add, for what reason, I don’t know.Eris locks his eyes on mine, hissing. It’s such a dangerous expression I fear he will hurt me. Instead, he approaches me and pushes me up against one of the trees. I’m shocked. It seems there is a darker side to Eris and I find myself liking it. Heat spreads between my legs, something my dragon mate doesn’t miss.“Wait,” Eris pauses, his eyes darkening. “Do you like that I’m angry with you?”I don’t answer him. I just bite my lower lip and Eris smirks, suddenly slamming his hand around my throat, choking me softly but forcefully enough to know he is in charge.“You be
Amber I shift uncomfortably in the backseat of the car, my heart pounding with guilt and anxiety. We are on our way home from the pumpkin farm, and I can’t bring myself to look at Eris. Not after I had sex with Alex. I feel like a total slut since I can’t keep my paws away from that man, but at the same time, can anyone blame me? I’ve had a thing with Alex. Like, I don’t know what we are to each other right now, but what I do know is that I want him. Eris hasn’t done anything wrong, but that doesn’t matter. Just because he is a good person doesn’t mean I automatically want him. My heart is set on Alex. ...how do I tell Eris that? And am I one hundred percent sure that I want Alex? Right as I ask myself that question, my mind is consumed by memories of the heated encounter I just had with Alex in the clearing, our passion consuming us despite the fact that I’m bound to Eris by destiny. “Hey, Edison, have you ever tried carving pumpkins with power tools?” Alex asks conversationally
AmberI can’t believe Alex just told me to use him and that I’m actually considering it. I shouldn’t be thinking about riding him. He isn’t my fated mate. I should be horrified about his offer, but instead, my body betrays me as desire floods through my veins.I want him more than my lungs crave oxygen, and the confident look on his face tells me he is very aware of that. Alex knows how much I crave him, and his self-confidence only adds to his dark, seductive charm.“Are you sure?” I ask, feeling my face burn red with embarrassment and excitement. My fated mate, Eris, is somewhere nearby picking out a pumpkin, completely unaware of what is happening. Guilt nips at the edges of my consciousness thinking about him, but the pounding need between my thighs easily drowns out my guilt. I can’t help but let my eyes travel over Alex’s muscular frame, and the sight of him makes me even wetter.“Of course,” he replies confidently, smirking at me in a way that makes it hard not to climb him lik
AmberMy life has officially turned into one of those romantic movies where the female lead is chased by two beautiful men. Alex and Eris want me, and I have no clue what or who I want. I’m in love with Alex, but there is a mate bond between Eris and me that is hard to fight against. I’m drawn to them both, honestly. That’s why I have decided to bond with both of them. I’m going to turn my life into “The Bachelorette,” which might be a stupid idea, but it’s the only one that I’ve got.“I think it’s a wonderful idea,” Edison says while helping me pick an outfit. I’m going to pick a pumpkin to carve for Halloween - both Eris and Alex are going to this farm with me. I’m super excited.“I hope so,” I say and sigh. “Do you think it’s stupid of me to celebrate Halloween when we are in the middle of a war with my old pack, though?”“No,” he smiles. “They haven’t made another move. We are waiting for that, and in the meantime, we can’t stop living. You should definitely be celebrating Hallowe
AmberMy breath hitches in my throat the moment I step outside Alex’s mansion and into the lush garden. Looming before me is a colossal white dragon, its yellow gaze piercing me with unrestrained intensity. At first, I’m afraid, but as soon as I feel the mate bond brewing, I know that the dragon is none other than Eris.“Jesus, he is big,” Edison comments from behind me in an amazed voice. “Just as large as my spider form.”“He really is...” Alex sounds grumpy. “Is that your fated mate, Amber?”I’m unable to answer him as I stare up at Eris. He is staring right back at me and seems relieved to see me. I’m about to approach him but stop in my tracks when plenty of guards storm the garden, all of them in their lycan forms and ready to battle.Panic swells with me, and I turn around. “Alex, you have to tell them not to attack him!”Irritation ticks against Alex’s jaw. “For you, I will tell them not to attack him, but I can’t really say that I’m happy that you’re mate is here...”I wet my
