Chapter 70BIANCA’S POV“Is that what you think?” Bernard asked, still looking amused. “Good women are like diamonds now. They are fucking hard to come by. The ones available are just after the money and other things aside from true love. They don’t want something as serious and long and as boring as marriage.”I gave him a slight scolding stare. “Marriage isn’t boring,” I said - coming from someone whose marriage was in crumbles and was not as merry as she thought it would be. “Believe me when I say there are plenty of good women out there. If you think most women are just after money and things other than love, it’s because you just not looking well enough. Many women are looking for a genuine connection, to settle down with the right person. They want to love and to be loved deeply, like never before. Just keep searching, alright? You are a good man, and I’m confident you will find someone special to put a ring on her finger someday.”He stayed silent and shrugged, having no other
Chapter 71BIANCA’S POVIt took me approximately an hour and thirty minutes to finish making the chocolate soufflé. As I carried it to the dining table and set it down, I couldn’t stop staring and smiling at it, happy with what I had achieved. Though it was my first time making it, it did turn out exactly as I wanted. The texture, colour and smell were everything one could wish for in a chocolate dessert. No doubt Richard will love it and thank me for it.The tempting sight was so tough to look away from. When I remembered from the video that it’s best served hot, I had to cover it to keep it from getting cold, finally tearing my gaze away.I hurried back to the kitchen, grabbed a cover, and rushed back to the dining to place it over the dessert. The dining area was a bit far and out of sight from the entrance door. Worried that Richard might miss seeing it, I moved it to the living room’s centre table. Positioned just right, facing the door, so he’d notice it right away when he came
Chapter 72BIANCA’S POV“Hello B,” an innocent guarded voice sounded from the phone speaker.“Hey girl,” I said, managing to hide the disappointment in my tone. It was the first time Thea and I were speaking since my wedding, so I didn’t want her to think I was sad from my voice. She will become worried and will definitely tell my parents about it. So I had to keep my tone up and lively. “How are you and mum and dad doing?”“We’re doing fine,” she said. “Thank you for asking, what about you and your husband?”“We’re doing fine too,” I smiled unnaturally. If only she could see me now.“Good to know.”After that, there was a short silence between us. I sensed something was off because whenever she called, she was usually cheerful. But this time, she wasn’t. It seemed like she was trying to pretend to be happy like I was. However, having known her for a while, I could tell something was bothering her. Maybe that’s why she called me but didn’t know how to share whatever thing was botheri
Chapter 73BIANCA’S POVThe lady he stumbled in with wasn’t the same one from last night, the one I accidentally broke her nose though I didn’t regret doing it. It was a different one. The way they were laughing and staggering made it clear they were drunk and caught up in so much lust. That’s where he had been all along – in a brothel or maybe by the roadside drinking and scouting for sluts like this one to spend the night with. How stupid of me to think he was spending time with his father. At this point, I’m not even sure he went to the business meeting Gideon mentioned he went to at all.I stood frozen on the spot, my heart dropping and sinking in my stomach Tears streamed down my face as I watched Richard plaster her against the wall, bury his face in the depth of her neck and ravage her with kisses as if he wanted to eat and drink from her. The lady moaned, her eyes closed as she revelled in the feeling. The horrific sight before me made me wish for blindness. I squeezed my eye
Chapter 74BIANCA’S POVWhy wasn’t he wearing his ring? Did he toss it away like I did to mine? I did that because of what he did last night, but he didn’t have any reason to stop wearing his ring. I haven’t cheated or hurt him since we got married, except for wrongly accusing him of being involved with Nina. But that is settled now. He was the one cheating and hurting me in this marriage. So, why isn’t he wearing his ring? Is he ashamed of being called a married man? Ashamed of being with me?They went out of view, and his room’s door creaked open and slammed shut right away. My body shook violently, my legs gave up underneath me, and I couldn’t help but crumple to the floor.I yielded to the compulsive tears that shook me, appearing as helpless as a widow who had lost everything.Resting my back against the sofa, I hugged my legs to my chest and stared at the chocolate soufflé on the table before me. My hard work. His favourite meal according to Gideon. After all my efforts, he sti
Chapter 75BIANCA’S POV “And where are you going dressed like that?” He asked as his eyes raked me from head to toe, a hint of disapproval in his expression. My gaze bore at him like heat through a metal. How dare he ask me that? What am I? His prisoner wife. Ohh not wife, maid. An invisible, insignificant maid he hired who didn’t matter. His exact words. “Wherever I’m going, whoever I choose to meet or spend the night with is none of your business,” I crossed my arms defiantly and looked at him as if to challenge him. His intense gaze acknowledged the challenge. “What do you mean it’s none of my business? You are my wife. I have every right to know and until you tell me, I’m not stepping an inch away from this door.” I scoffed in disbelief. His audacity was surprising as well as mesmerizing. So he was free to step out anytime he liked to bring in a hoe and fuck her right before me, but won’t let me step out. What a man! I might as well give him an award for being the most loving
Chapter 76BIANCA’S POVI took an Uber to the location on the business card Bernard slipped into my phone pouch. When I arrived, I saved his number again in my phone and put a call through to him so he could come get me. It was a hotel or more of a guest house; quiet and not well known. Walking through the revolving doors, I stayed in the lobby for him to pick me up.When he said we were having dinner at his place, I thought he meant his apartment or something like that. I didn’t know he was staying in a hotel. Isn’t that a bit pricey? I’d prefer crashing at a friend’s place than staying in a hotel. But, well, he’s wealthy, so it’s not a big deal for him. Plus, the hotel didn’t seem too costly, and since he’s just visiting, it works out fine. After a short wait, he emerged from the elevator. Dressed casually but with expensive clothes, his usually nicely messy creamy brown hair seemed a bit more dishevelled, and his cheeks looked a bit flushed. It seemed like he was a bit nervous to
Chapter 77BIANCA’S POVBernard’s penthouse apartment was almost like Richard’s; the comfy luxurious setting, the large bulletproof glass windows that ran from floor to ceiling and probably the same number of rooms. The only thing lacking in this was that the hotel building wasn’t high enough and as a result, the view wasn’t that stunning. But what drew my attention the most was the extra decoration and arrangements in living room as if he was trying to impress his girlfriend on Valentine’s day; Soft, warm lights adorned the space, creating a gentle glow and feeling. A fragrant arrangement of fresh flowers sat elegantly on the centre of the coffee table along with two plates of classic spaghetti garnished with carrots and green peas. Plush cushions and a throw blanket were strategically placed on the sofa and a playlist of soothing music played softly in the background. The air was scented with a hint of vanilla from strategically placed candles.
