Lucus peeled off his clothes, folded them carefully, kept them in his usual place, and shifted into his wolf form. He sniffed the air with his wet snort and started running towards the woods. The morning sunshine was peeping through the trees, touching the ground, and the more he ran away from the city, the more nature looked beautiful. The green leaves, dark brown earth, and wetness under his claws felt so amazing that he could almost forget his cruel destiny.
Moni.
The girl had beautiful eyes. Lucus first love and maybe his last too, Lucus remembers when he first saw her. Out of all the beautiful omegas, she was outstanding. Out of all the beautiful omegas, she was outstanding.
They became friends when Lucus saved her, and one night Lucus couldn't stop himself from asking her hand for a dance. Eyes fell on them; everyone knew about their friendship, and they somehow saw them as a couple.
That day, Lucus let her fly through the air, taking her gracefully into the hall. Her eyes never left his; something was sparkling at the end of their dance. Lucus proposed to her, and then they kissed. Her lips were so soft—thin but soft. Pulling her into his body, he kissed her slowly, letting the desire of his new pheromones take over. When he let go of her hands that night, he asked her to go on a run.
Let him catch her.
That's how the wolves let their inner wolves get connected. The omega, or the one with the lower rank, went on a run, hiding their scent with mud, and the one with the higher rank caught them. If they could, they started taking steps toward a new journey.
Even Moni already accepts him, but Lucus wants everything, especially his Omega. So he started courting Moni. Even when they entered university, most omegas, betas, and even alphas dreamed of being in her place, not only because of Lucus's status and money.
The best unmated one, but Lucus only had his eyes on Moni. Accepting each other, they started to write a great love story together, making others bless them with their own hearts.
Until that one day.
When his family knows about them, they try to stop Lucus, but Lucus never stops. He thought that day that his family understood him. But he is so wrong. They want him to mate with Emma James, whom he hates the most.
And at last, Omega accepts him as her future Alpha, even though he clearly rejects her. Maybe she is doing all this on purpose; maybe she wants to hurt him again. Maybe she wants to make him feel small again.
He really hates Emma James from the bottom of his heart.
He cried. As an alpha, he couldn't let his tears fall, so he gulped his sobs down and let his heart cry. When he saw Moni's eyes turn dark red, he knew that she had been crying too. Lucus still had to marry Emma.
"If you don't marry Emma James, I will kick you out of my family and my business." That's what his father said to him when Lucus tried to talk to the Alpha.
Lucus tries to talk to his brother and his mother, but nothing works. He is going to marry Emma James within two days, and he can't do anything. He even can't leave his family because Moni made him promise; she doesn't want him to leave his family for her.
Lucus cared for that someone; he felt pity and guilt, and moreover, his heart was weeping for his omega, Moni.
"I'm sorry, my love." A sad howl left his mouth while those long, strong legs took the wolf far and away from the city.
What's not yours isn't yours. It's as simple as that. But Lucus couldn't care less about it. His Moni, who once was his beloved omega, was still his. He coerced him into his arms again, and he
wasn't letting go. He was obsessed.
'I could stare at your back all day, And I know I've kissed you before.'
Their downfall was his. He'll forever regret tattooing scars on his omega's back. The inked shapes of a little start from its slumber every month, symbolized the many times in a month he
let Moni down before he showed up for the next one, slaughtering another unfinished phase of an ambiguous relationship.
He threw them under a train wreck and didn't care to check on the pieces that bled, outlining scars. With scars, the Omega learned to balm, bandage, tattoo, clean, and hate showing them to prying public eyes.
His Moni had always hated attention, and it was another push to their ugly drowning since the alpha was tracking a path to himself. Certainly, he woke up drenched in sweat after so many sleepless nights, fearing the sigh of Moni packing and leaving him in the dark.
He would check his right side and howl when he found it empty. Did he rip the sheets apart? He did. Did he flip the entire bed? He did. Did he break every piece he assembled from scratch with his Omega? He did. Did he sleep on the floor for almost two days'?
He did.
It was entirely his fault. He realized that. Every fiber in his burning, aching, boiling system surged with that fact. He drove them apart, set their broken pieces on fire, and fueled them with gasoline.
Moni's words for eternity will shrink his limbs and climb acid in his mouth. "I was picking out our pieces like you were entirely my universe. But you shoved a galaxy of dust over us. When you know what you've lost. It'll be too late. I've loved Alpha. I did. Now. Please leave."
But Lucus came back again and again. He can't leave his Omega; he knows Moni had no one but him.
Goosebumps bloomed under his skin. He bit his lips, swallowing the threatening urge to cut the distance between them and wrench the omega from his arms. Even Moni wore a scent blocker, yet Lucus could taste Moni's ripe strawberry scent under his bud. He licked his teeth.
He did.
His stomach churned in anticipation, getting addicted to the idea of winning his omega all over again. He would do it right this time. He'll damn well build a pathway of roses dipped in gold for his made-of-heaven omega to walk on. Alpha Lucus will have Omega Moni.
As he stared at the sleeping beauty in his bed. The emitting scent of raw arousal and the mouthwatering aroma of ripe strawberries drive his alpha crazy. He subconsciously growled, nuzzling his omegas, painted by the goddess herself, back. He licked the outline, admiring the light whimper of the squirming omega. "Mm alpha. Stop it. I'm tired." The alpha chuckled, tracing the phases with his trimmed nails.
He watched in a fascinating manner as shivers took over Moni's arched back.
The garden of Goosebumps made him lick his lips. He really had no idea how he flipped Moni on her stomach and climbed over her, bringing both hands behind his back. Moni moaned so loud, going slack, euphoric bubbles of strawberries clouding their little serenity-frowned-upon relationship.
Lucus growled, biting the shell of Moni's red ear and sucking the flesh. Moni was moaning feverishly, squirming in the heat of arousal. "Alpha. More. More. Please." She sniffled, pushing the arch of his back to meet Lucus. To feel its curve pocking her bared-ass cheeks.
The alpha bit the pulsing, obvious vein next to the omega's flattering scent gland. He caressed the skin with the tip of his tongue, releasing all of his affection. "I could stare at your back all day. I know I've kissed you before. But I didn't do it right."
Moni immediately tensed up. Her scent soured a bit with a pang of distress. Despite having the alpha work its thorny way back to Moni's heart, It still wasn't an easy topic. Moni made him sleep on her knees. She rocked him to the bottom of hell and pulled him to forgive the alpha. Moni's loving side was an easy task to show. But once she dared to summon his most powerful words, "Touch me, and I'll burn even your aches again," Not even the moon itself would bow to ask for forgiveness.
However, Lucus marched through it and kissed the fire.
Therefore, the shift in Moni's scent was expected and acceptable. He only pumped calming pheromones, remaining to rain kisses all over Moni's glistening back. "Can I try again, try again, try again?"
He had no idea when his vision got blurry until he noticed the wet drops sliding down Moni's back. There were so many of them. For how long did he pour them?" Try again.
Next Morning:
Moni was always so good at cooking, and Lucus smiled, taking a bite from the meat and looking over the lamp at her face. Both of them were smiling through the sadness. They knew they had to do this—let go.
"Alpha."
"Yes babe." Moni stood up and came to him. Lucus, already reading her mind, pushed back his chair, letting Moni sit on his lap. She is beautiful. Like always.
"You are getting married tomorrow, and I know you don't want to do this, but you don't have a choice. But Lucus, will you forget me? Will you stop thinking about me?"
Lucus smiled more and pecked her knuckles. "I will never forget you, love. As a married man, I shouldn't be thinking about you, but you know I wouldn't. I won't stop thinking about you. I will let Emma know who you are, and then you are going to keep seeing me without her knowing?"
Lucus just smiled when Moni's eyes sparkled. He pulled her by her neck and crashed their lips together, letting Moni run her hands under his white shirt on his back.
Things started getting heated when Lucius phone buzzed. "It's ok, Alpha. We knew this was going to happen soon." Moni said, patting Lucus back, while the man hugged her more, kissing her face slowly.
"You have to go."
"But I don't want to. I want to be here with you."
"Alpha. go. Don't create any problems, and let your father come at you. We will talk later. Go." She didn't wait any more and pushed the alpha away and stood up. She left the man there, walking towards her room and letting tears wet her cheeks. Lucus knew his Omega heart was breaking inside her.
And he promised himself that Emma James pain for all this wo
uld make her life a living hell.
'You want me as your Alpha; I will show you how bad an Alpha can be.'
The sun kissed the ground for a new day, and it's been almost two days since Emma gave her answer. She really wants to say no, but she can't disappoint her family. She is sure that after their wedding, her and Lucus relationship will be fine.Madden's already welcomed her into their family, and today she is going to meet Alex, Lucus big brother. Alex and her never talk much, as the Alpha is more than seven years older than her. Her mother told her that Alexa didn't marry or mate.According to her mother, Alex is not ready, and his parents understand this, but what makes her even more confused is that she is sure Lucus is also not ready to get married, at least not this soon, so why do Madden's parents want their younger son to get married?Emma groans when suddenly her car stops in the middle of the road. "Seriously? Not here." She knows now that she can't do anything. Her phone is already dying. Emma sits back inside her car and starts thinking about her future. Before meeting Lucus
Wedding Day:(Lucus's thoughts)Standing in front of Emma James was probably the hardest thing Lucus Madden had ever faced.'Mmm, too young, too dumb to realize,'He couldn't accept it. He was getting married. The love of his life, the one he had been head over heels for for three years, was crying because of him. Suddenly, all those intimate moments—the joking kisses, that one special kiss that made them both realize that they felt the same way—meant nothing. It was a load of bullshit.'That I should have bought you flowers,'Lucus looked at Emma, who stood at the white altar, a beautiful wood-woven arch painted a pure white covering her head, threaded with fresh red roses and daises, and complete with lush green leaves. The venue was a lovely place: three huge gardens surrounding the one they were in, one of which was a rose garden with the flowers reaching up to his hip, a huge water fountain with three horses carved into stone with him standing in the middle just off to the side o
Wedding Day:(Emma's thought)The pastor's name was Anth—Father Anth, who, despite his old age, was eager to wed the couple. He had known both pups ever since they were born; he had run into them when they used to play with mud and saw how genuinely kind they were. Little did he know, then, that he would one day marry them and bond them with each other. Not only did the whole town know about the wedding—in fact, the whole country and possibly the entire world were aware of today's celebration. The ceremony was to be performed outside, on the balcony of a tall, graceful building, so everyone who wanted to come could see it. The building itself was more like an old castle, made out of stone and decorated along the outside walls with fresh, colorful flowers and shiny banners announcing the celebration. The balcony was large enough to seat the pastor, the grooms, the groomsmen, the bridesmaids, and the parents of the grooms. All four parents of both men had attended, which had struck some
It was a blistering evening; the sun had just set. Emma was with her new life at Madden's new villa. It's a kind of ritual in the Madden family; after the ceremony, the wedded couple spend time with each other. It had always been their routine whenever someone got married. So, the new family member and I spend the time together. It was a chance for them to forget about their responsibilities and troubles in life, so they could just breathe and have fun.Sweat dripped down Lucus face, his shirt beginning to stick to his body. He felt so hot and irritated. He normally isn't, but today he was, and he didn't know why. His loss in the game he was playing with Alex didn't help either. He's lost to Alex once already, and if it happened again, it would be his brother's victory, and he was not going to let that happen. He had a lot of pride when it came to gaming. He played a lot, and he was skilled, but for some reason, Alex just had the upper hand in this match."Alpha!" A familiar soft and
Lucus stood in front of her with hatred in his eyes and said, "Omega, let's talk about this." Emma knew right then and there that whatever they were going to talk about was not going to be pleasant. "Don't get too comfortable," Lucus said coldly. "Once everyone leaves the hall, you are going to sleep in the guest room." "W-What? Bu-" "What?" The Alpha says, turning to look at her, that Emma flinched at the look in Lucus eyes. "You thought we'd have some bullshit magical night? Well, news flash, Omega, I will NEVER want you. I already had someone." "What about me, then?" The Omega asks with teary eyes. "I don't care. I am going to see my girlfriend." "Please." Emma stands in front of Alpha and says, "Don't do this to me, Lucus; I thought we had a cha..." "We have nothing to do with each other, Emma James. Once my father gives the company to me, I will kick you out and take my girlfriend here, whom I love and who is actually my omega." "Why Lucus? Why?" Lucus rolls his eyes, a
Emma wants to feel in control. Everything that's happened as of late has left her feeling powerless, a feeling the Omega doesn't want to feel. She doesn't think anyone wants to feel this way. It's almost as if her entire life has been set up in a way that creates the most amount of misery possible for her. And sure, maybe it's dramatic, but it feels like everyone is leaving and everything is happening so fast that it's all a whirlwind of movement, and she can't do anything to stop it. She just wants it to stop. Emma climbs onto the ledge. She doesn't stand because she doesn't want to die; she just wants to know that she has the choice. Of course, a death would not shine a positive light on her family name, but who knows? Maybe on a day like this, she could. Emma sits, her legs dangling off the side of the building. It would be too easy to fall. Just scooting a foot forward, oops. There she goes. It would take so much more effort to not fall. Swing one leg back behind her, then the o
Lucus wakes first. In the first few seconds following the opening of his eyes, he feels content. Then, when the events of the previous night come to mind, he starts to feel overwhelmed. As tears spring to his eyes, he raises his eyes to glance at Moni. Moni, who called him in the middle of the night, and he dropped everything when he realized what the Omega was doing; Moni, whom he was treated so gently; Moni, who he's so desperately in love with and who loves him back. As if she's aware of Lucus stare, Moni shifts slightly in her sleep and tightens her hold on the Alpha. And Lucus, who has always dealt with a constant weight on his chest, one screaming at him to do better, You're never good enough and you never will be, feels that weight lessen. He's beginning to breathe clearly now. Though being in love with Moni doesn't automatically mean all of his problems will immediately cease to exist, Lucus knows that a support system as strong as his will motivate him to be the best he can
Emma thinks of the dream—the sheer, pure confidence and happiness to finally just be herself without judgement or anxieties. She'll hold onto the feeling and the rapidly fading memory of that paradise, hoping it will soothe her in the coming long nights. Perhaps there was an alternate universe where that was the truth, that was the reality, and not just an escape for one, lonely, desperate night. Maybe somewhere out there, a version of Emma deserves to be happy. But for now, Emma rubs her eyes and tries to ignore the aching emptiness as she recites every teaching, which she uses to convince herself she's doing the right thing and she has to. The dream is just a dream, and it has to be enough for her. Slowly stepping slightly closer to the edge of the roof, Emma stepped back, bringing her arm back with her, and flung the small, black device over the city surrounding her. Emma closed her eyes as she heard the distant sound of her phone clattering and smashing against the ground, tak
The air was filled with the subtle scent of lemons and candle wax.Gold tapestry runners featuring Batik motifs graced the tables by the entranceway to the hall, and crystal vases filled with white roses spilling out sat atop them, while bouquets of white roses wrapped in blue silk ribbons decorated the ends of the old wooden pews. The early morning sun shone through the stained-glass windows of the wedding hall and reflected pretty images onto the floor of the hall. Dozens of candles in every size were placed on the altar, ready to be lit when the ceremony started; they would lend a soft and warm glow to the happy couple as they stood before friends and family professing their love for one another.Zia studied the decorations with a critical eye—everything had to be perfect. She had pale yellow roses braided into her long dark hair and her dress, a long column of silver—not quite white and not quite grey—that shimmered under the lights with every moment. Satisfied that everything was
A small family could be heard all the way down the street from their apartment. A toddler was throwing a fit by the sounds of her crying and screams, and two people could be heard arguing."You! Get out of my home now!!"Emma hissed at her father, who was standing a few feet from his daughter and granddaughter, sporting a scowl.Emma was doing everything she could not to gently set her daughter down in her playpen and lunge for her father's throat. Nadia is now four years old; she's grown to be a beautiful toddler. She was clinging to her mother like her life depended on it and was crying hysterically. Emma was rocking back and forth in his arms and glaring at Robert in hatred."That thing is an abomination. She shouldn't even exist!" David spat, glaring at the toddler in disgust. The toddler whimpered at the insult and clung even tighter to her mother. Emma was enraged and could barely control herself. The only thing keeping her from screaming at her father was the little girl in her
Emma complied, taking the last few steps towards Lucus. The Alpha pulled her into his arms, stroking her back lovingly. Emma wrapped her arms around Lucus as well, not able to prevent the smile she was holding back from spreading across her face. Lucus suddenly felt tense. Emma looked up at him and noticed a sour expression written across his features."What's wrong, Lucus?" She whispered."Nothing."Emma glared, not taking too kindly to being lied to. Lucus sighed in defeat and met her gaze. His eyes held so much sorrow and fear. "I'm not a good father," he whispered sadly.Emma gasped out in shock. How could Lucus think like that? It's not like someone can go from never being around children to being an expert on them in only a few weeks! Lucus was being too hard on himself, setting his expectations too high. Emma would do everything she could not to let Alpha beat himself up over not being experienced with kids."Lucus, you love both Clary and Nadia to pieces! How could you say tha
Lucus made quick work of her shirt as well before Allen returned with a white hospital gown. Lucus lifted Emma up slightly so she could slip it on her. They had just laid Emma back down when a door burst open and the doctor walked in. She was wearing her pale pink hospital gown and white flats. She came strutting through like she owned the place. She shoved Lucus and Emma aside, making her way over to Emma. She was currently panting and sweating as if she had just run a marathon. She grabbed one of the towels from the nightstand and dabbed it with some of the cool water in the bucket. She wiped the sweat rolling down her face before she began setting up everything she would need for the delivery. The group sat there for the next hour and a half. It was silent. Allen was in the other room talking to Alex, who had arrived ten minutes beforehand. Emma had requested that they leave the room. She didn't feel comfortable with anyone witnessing her give birth to the baby other than Lucus. Sh
A tap on Lucus window startled him out of his thoughts. He saw a woman in her forties with messy brunette hair standing in front of his window with a takeout bag. He rolled the window down, and she shoved the food at him. He rolled his eyes as she walked away. He looked down into the bag and noticed something strange. There was only lava cake.He snatched the bag and stormed out of the vehicle and into the restaurant. He slammed the bag on the counter in front of a startled-looking employee. She had her purple hair tied into a bun, and her green eyes were wide. He felt no remorse."I have been to two different Burger King's! I've had soda spill on my shirt, and then an old woman slapped me in the face! I got pulled over by a cop who vandalized my car and gave me a seven-hundred-dollar ticket simply because I'm married to Omega! Now your ignorant people make me pull off to the side to wait for onion rings that I've never received! I demand three large orders of onion rings, another sli
5 Years Later:"Lucus!"Omega sighed, placing her rainbow-striped bookmark in her fantasy drama novel. She strode out of her office and into the living room. His Alpha was sprawled out on the sofa, his chin in his palm, as he watched an episode of Modern Family. Emma was wearing nothing but an oversized hoodie and a pair of grey shorts. Despite the baggie hoodie and fluffy red blanket covering her torso, her nine-month pregnant belly was obvious. They'd wanted to be married for a little while before they had another child. So, after two years of traveling the world and going on many fun adventures, they settled down back in their apartment with Clary. They then proceeded to make mad, passionate love all night long. It was more overwhelming than any other time. Of course, it only took one round to impregnate Emma, but once they got started, they couldn't get enough of each other."Yes love?" Lucus asked. He couldn't help but eye the dozens of candy wrappers strewn about the floor. The
The whole idea had been Allen's.When she'd suggested the idea to Emma—to celebrate Clary's birthday in a cute and fun way that the little one could enjoy—she hadn't come up with anything wrong with it.Neither of them had taken in Alex as a factor, though. Which, between the three of them, they really should have?"I don't think that outfit is appropriate for children."Lucus raised his eyebrows in confusion. He gestured to Clary, who was clad in dark blue denim jeans and a deep green knit sweater, before turning to Emma with an expression that suggested he really thought Emma had lost her mind this time."I meant yours," Emma explained, pointing to Lucus bright yellow skin-tight jeans and glaringly obvious rainbow singlet, which he'd paired with a deep red jacket and black shoes."We're going to a zoo, Lucus, not a nightclub."Lucus pouted, and Emma sighed."Just dress it down a little for me today." She asked. "Please? I'll let you choose my outfit another time if you do this for m
"Where are you getting it?" Zia asked Emma, taking a cotton ball and dipping it in antiseptic."On my wrist," she says, holding out her right arm. Zia nods, wiping the skin of her wrist beneath her palm. She puts the cotton ball down and then purses her lips."Could you... I might need you to swap chairs with Lucus; I don't want to do this upside down."Emma nods. "Of course."She and Lucus switch, darting past each other. Lucus raises his eyebrows, hoping to get something out of either of them, but neither Zia nor Emma say a word."This is borderline torture." He complains, flopping into his seat. Zia smiles sympathetically, as if to say "This wasn't my decision".Emma just looks a little nervous."So, I'm going to outline the drawing in marker first, so you can be certain of its placement, and then if you're happy, I'll start." Zia explains.Emma nods, her eyes darting over to Lucus before returning to Zia. She smiles encouragingly, picking up a black, fine-tip, skin-safe marker and
"You want to get a tattoo?"Out of all the things Lucus ever thought he'd hear Emma say, getting a tattoo was not even a registered possibility."Yes." Emma nods, and Lucus knows Emma enough to accept that she's being completely serious."But you already have my mating mark on your body." Lucus states. He folds his hands behind his head, leaning backwards against the headboard. He had a feeling this conversation would be one he'd need to be relaxed for."Well, yes, but that's not the same." Emma replies. He sighs as Lucus raises his eyebrows."Mark's fade; some are permanent, but not all of them, and they're different. Mating marks speak of my mating. Tattoos are something that both of us can have, and it's more special and ... forever."Lucus leans over and kisses Emma's bare shoulder."You genuinely want this?" He asks to be certain. There's a warmth flooding him just from hearing that Emma wants to get something permanent that they can both share. Something different that no other
