Reyna-We had our talk about things, but things still didn’t feel normal between us. I could tell that he was still distant from me. I kept trying to communicate with him, but mostly I gave him the space that he seemed to need.Walking through the ruined forest, we didn’t say much to each other. I could tell he was trying to force himself, but it was more as if he were simply going through the motions. I understood he was worried, as I was too, but it was different for him. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t seem to reach him.“Did you hear something?” Luka pulled me from my thoughts as he came to a stop. Before answering, I looked around and carefully listened. At first, I didn’t hear anything, but a few seconds later I heard what sounded like a horse whining. It sounded as if it were in pain, so I forgot to answer Luka as I rushed toward the sound. On the top of a hill, where there was a single large tree growing, covered in cherry blossoms, a group of Centaurs was attacking a b
Reyna-“Luka!” I screamed when Luka fell to the ground after being hit by the level nine Boss.I should have known that it wasn’t a promising idea to challenge the boss. Throughout the entire level, he seemed extremely distracted. He had insisted he was fine, but as soon as we reached the dungeon, I had a bad feeling that I couldn’t shake since we first started the level. It has been three days since reaching level nine and my worries have only increased with each quest and monster we came across. I kept trying to get him to open up to me, but every time I did, he pulled further away. I even went as far as whistling for the Pegasus, to see if that could put him in a better mood again. Now we were fighting against a Cyclops, near a river, at the base of a volcano. I did everything I could to protect Luka, but his actions were too reckless, and I couldn’t keep up. I wanted to rush toward Luka, as I noticed his health bar was dangerously low and he was dropping one percent by the minute.
Luka-Before Reyna hit the ground, I caught her and lifted her into my arms. At first, I thought it was weird that the system didn’t automatically log her out, but then I remembered she bypassed the safety features in her gear. With no other choice, I teleported the both of us to the home I built.Since we have been focused on defeating the game, she hasn’t been inside the house yet. The only time she is at the house is when we meet there, but then we go to whichever level we were at that time. This will be the first time she has stepped foot inside the house. After arriving at the piece of land we owned inside the game, I carried her inside the house. She slept soundly as I carried her up the stairs, to the second level, where there was only a large bedroom and master bathroom. During the design of the house, I didn’t think Reyna would end up sleeping inside the house.Although I had designed everything inside, with her in mind. The upstairs bedroom was surrounded by floor-to-ceilin
Luka-The scene that now laid before me was that of a park, where Zane and I were playing at. Except instead of being adults, we were just two bratty little ten-year-olds. At first, I was nothing more than a spectator, only able to watch what was happening around me, but still having the ability to think as an adult.“Are we going to play or not, Luka?” Zane asked, throwing a basketball in my direction. Just like that, I couldn’t even process anything as an adult, as I became the ten-year-old version of myself. “You are going to pay for that!” I half yelled and half laughed as I threw the ball away and chased after Zane.We ran around the playground for a while, just having fun and enjoying that for the first time in months, we didn’t have to train. I didn’t know why my mentor, Zane’s father, needed to come to this neighborhood, but I didn’t question it. Any chance I had that I didn’t need to worry about who I was meant to be or who my parents were, was a good day for me.Ever since
Reyna-A week later, I was sitting in a conference room at work, where we were having a meeting. I wasn’t paying attention to what was going on. I knew it had to do with the company policy, but I was too distracted.I kept running the past few days through my head, trying to figure out what to make of everything. Luka had been extra attentive toward me, which was making me a little weirded out. I expected it wouldn’t be long before he started behaving strangely again. He seemed to be in a better mood, yet I couldn’t leave it alone. I should be happy that he wasn’t on the verge of self-destruction, but for how long? That wasn’t the only thing bothering me, it was also that we have been stuck on level eleven for an entire week.We have already faced off against the Boss multiple times, but each time we end up timing out and getting kicked out of the Boss fight. This was the first time I have experienced this. The Boss was a multi-elemental winged hydra. In the beta version, there was a
Reyna-Two hours into the drive and Zane has yet to say a word. I thought about what I could ask him, but everything I produced sounded suspicious even in my head. We were currently listening to the radio, which oddly was one of my favorite stations.I wouldn’t have thought that we would have anything in common with each other. At first, I thought he had chosen the station because of me, but he sang along flawlessly. Every so often I would sneak a glance at him, trying to figure out what it was about him that I was suspicious of. The only thing I had to work with was the bad feeling I had and how Luka had responded. The more I tried to figure it out, the more I didn’t understand why Zane would trap his best friend. Looking at him from the passenger seat, he seemed innocent.“I need to go to the bathroom. How about you?” Zane spoke his first words after turning off the radio.“I am fine.”A few minutes later, Zane took an exit off the interstate and pulled into a truck stop. He parke
Reyna-As soon as Kaige and I left the hospital and we were on the road, I reconnected the audio transmitter. Admitting to Luka that I had lied hadn’t been easy, but at least he didn’t seem upset with me. Since I wanted him to know what was going on as well, I had to tell the truth.I debated at first if I should tell him, but Kaige convinced me to tell him. The conversation would have been better to have face-to-face, but that currently wasn’t an option. The only good thing to come out of this entire situation was that I now knew what Luka had been trying to hide. Also, I didn’t need to log into the game, which meant Luka was potentially safe for the time being. On the drive back to Kaige’s house, I told them everything that happened. Once I was finished, Luka finally admitted to me that Zane was the one behind everything. He also told me that Zane was the reason he kept his distance from me.Some of the things that I felt were important for Kaige to know, I repeated them as Luka exp
Luka-For an entire week, Reyna and I spent as much time together as possible. We didn’t try to challenge the Hydra again. Not only because we weren’t sure if Zane still had people searching for me, but also because as far as Zane and her coworkers were concerned, she was still healing from an accident. The full moon would also fast approaching, and she was going to need time to adjust after her first shift. Now that we knew it was inevitable, we were all preparing for it. I also agreed to work with her brother and his men as well.Originally, I hadn’t wanted to get more people involved, but now I knew that I needed all the help I could get. After considering it for a bit, I realized that Kaige and his pack might be the only ones that I could trust, other than Reyna. I might not know Kaige’s pack member well, but I knew Kaige enough to trust his words.Well, it was mostly because I knew he wouldn’t do anything that would bring harm to his sister. After agreeing to it, Kaige and his me
