Sweat soaked back, heart beating like a blacksmith's hammer. In a faraway place, deep inside a dark passage painted with the smell of blood and feces, a 16-year-old paled-skin youth dragged himself forward with a flashlight in his hand.
His arms shivered in dread. A firm grasp on his flashlight with luminance drove the nocturnal reptiles away from his feet. His vision was covered by his own foggy breath. With each passing breath, he was stepping towards impending doom.Chills ran down his spine. His feet cried 'run away,' but an irrational hope pushed him forward.Meanwhile, the tunnel walls secrete a wisp of fumes. His skin felt scratchy, and his mind being dosed with nausea. A realization crept over him, telling him that the situation had worsened even further. His throat dried up like a desert while his skin felt a biting sensation. He dug out a half-filled water bottle from the sling bag on his back and took a sip.~gulp~He picked up his pace after quenching his thirst and recognising the corrosive nature of the fumes. After a half-hour stroll, the young man came to a standstill and began to think about his next move. He looked around for any potential threats. He inched closer to the passage's corrosive walls and began stroking them as if caressing the curves of a girlfriend he never had. Warm as a quilt and tender like the insides of a body.Without further ado, he pulled a little palm-sized carbon-fiber handle from his bag, which bore the unusual letters . The handle seemed to recognise him as soon as he dabbed it with his thumb. Shortly after, a sharp metallic blade leapt out from the handle. The blade was forged from a lustrous metal. He drew the dagger back and hacked a deep cut in the wall with a rapid stroke. His objective, it seemed, was to cut the wall as cleanly as possible. He kept stabbing, until the tear in the wall grew to become the same size as him.He cleaned his blade and put it back inside. He eventually placed his leg inside the cleavage he created and made his way through the hole with restrengthened caution.---Somewhere outside this grim rabbit hole, four teenagers chatted amongst themselves. All four of them seemed to be resting in a place that looked like a deserted graveyard. Also, they were sitting beside a huge stone tablet with words carved on it; they could not discern. Amongst them, one was playfully looking at an object in his hand, which looked like a metal ring. Apparently, it was a ring made with the same metal as the dagger carried by paled-skin youth previously. Another fellow from the group saw him looking playfully at the ring, and couldn’t hold back anymore."Brother Wolf, can he bring the amulet from the tablet?"
"Little Bran, he has no choice!" Wolf smirked as he finally turned to his brother. "That is… If he expects me to return his cheap ring.""Is that worthless ring really that good?" Brandon inquired. "Why do you want it if it's worthless?""Umm… My bad! Wrong choice of words!" Wolf shook his head, "By 'cheap', I did not mean 'worthless'."He added. "In fact, this ring is far from worthless. I can't put a tag on it, but my rough estimate says that this ring is more valuable than 100 grams of pure gold. But that idiot holding onto this... is what makes its value plummet to the ground!""100 grams of pure gold!" All three guys' jaws dropped, they uttered. "Are you fucking kidding me!""You know I never joke around money, fellas." Wolf's eyes again stuck on the ring. "This ring is forged from the CZ-alloy, a by-product of nuclear refineries... similar to Plutonium 238."Another youth with a gloomy face and curious eyes rolled his eyes at him. His expression hinted that he was scrolling through his memories to validate his last statement. He blurted. "What are you talking about? CZ-alloy was available over a century ago! They were still creating that rare thing??"Wolf explained. "Nope!! they don't create it anymore. It was a breakthrough as the only usable metallurgic by-product of nuclear energy. But now, we have stronger 'Tensile Silk Fibers' these days!""Anyway!! it's still a hidden treasure." Wolf continued, "Though, I'm really curious about where did that freak found this? And how come there are no initials on such a thing.""We have to confirm from Creed when he comes out. Maybe his father stole it from somewhere before he died. In case he doesn't come back, it's fine too," the fourth guy named Chuck finally spoke with an evil smile. "Since there are no initials, we can't be tracked when we sell it, right?""Yeah, let's wait for another 30 minutes, then we leave. There is no point in waiting outside an elder's tablet for this long. It's been over three hours already," Wolf laughed menacingly as he looked at the tablet again. "If he doesn't come out within 20 minutes, then he's probably turned to a paste."While the four chatted amongst themselves, on the spur of the moment, the words and scriptures on the stone tablet started producing a faint crimson glow. Their focus immediately shifted in unison. "He is coming b-back..." Brandon's eyes had trouble believing."Nice! He is a moron, but he is fast...," Wolf said as he maintained his distance from the tablet, also gesturing to the other guys to get back, "And here I thought the tablet would have killed him... persistent freak!"Soon after, a humanoid appeared, springing from the tablet wall. Whole-body steaming like a sauna, with an odor of rotten carcasses. He was the same pale skinned youth that was walking in the dark tunnel earlier.
Blood was pouring from his eyes, nose, and blisters. His mouth released a foul mist that scorched his dry lips bloody. With merely a peel, his delicate skin looked about to come off. His garments were little more than rags, revealing numerous claw and bite marks on his body.~BRRAAFFHe vomited everything in his stomach the instant he stepped out of the tablet. His knees lost their strength as he fell to the ground while clutching an emerald amulet in his bloodied fist. Blood kept gushing out from every orifice of his body uncontrollably."Holy crap! This mission is a grand success," Wolf said with an evil grin. "You didn't die and found an amulet too...you are such an angel!" He came close to him and snatched the amulet forcefully, without a second thought."I wanted to ask about your ring, but the core has put a heavy toll on you. I wanted to extend our acquaintance but I guess it's game over for you."Wolf added. "And I suppose, you won't mind giving this to us as a present before dying, right Creed?""ring…. Plea….se… my ring…" Creed flapped his mouth, but words stuck inside his throat, "give it ba...ck!""Eh, what was that?" Wolf then put his ears close to his body, then mumbled. "Did he just say he wants to give me the ring as a present?"Wolf turned his head towards other bozos standing away from the body while pinching their noses shut."Ah, yes! Of course, he wants to give it to us!" Covering their noses, one of them said. "Creed would never want his belongings to go to waste. He is not that heartless!""Alright then, Creed, I love you..." Wolf muttered as he got up, "Pass my regards to your father when you see him! You are so generous!" They ripped him off with everything except for a water bottle and his personal dagger while removing every probable trace of themselves. They all soon vanished from the vicinity while his battered body slowly decomposed there for another hour, soaked in his own blood and vomit. All of a sudden, his eyes opened wide. He couldn’t help but look at the departing blurry figures. He tried to shout louder, but instead of actual words, blood gushed. Later, his mouth opened and closed, perhaps yelling curses."I'll get back at you, fuckers!... Just… wait."
He dragged himself off the ground, wobbling briefly before finding his footing. With bloodied hands, he grabbed up his water bottle and pulled the cap off of it.To soothe himself, he dumped the entire bottle on his head with whatever remained inside. Even with multiple broken bones and paralyzing pain, his eyes were stern and determined. He knew that—Regardless of the fact that blood is still seeping from many wounds throughout his body— this expedition in the Elder's tablet was not as wasteful as one might think.Drenched in acute pain, he mumbled gibberish. With a small push, he ejected the blade from his knife again and stabbed himself in the leg a split second later. Soon the slash cut open a deep thumb-size wound. Blood poured like a torrent, and numerous blisters burst with blood and pus.The amount of pain that had stacked over the broken body of a 16-years-old, was just too much. He cried until fluids burst out of his mouth and nose. Yet, He didn't stop cutting his calf, almost as if he was possessed. After a minute of self-torture, the whole wound that appeared to be sealed re-opened. He put his finger inside and pulled something out. Apparently, it looked like a golden egg."Fuck! That was a close call!!" Creed sighed , "No way I'm going to let those bastards get their hands on this."He put the egg aside for the time being. Along with the egg, he also pulled out a black-colored pill. He stared at the pill for a bit with a grim expression. Later, he put it inside his mouth and started chewing."Fuck! It's my last beta-pill," Creed mumbled with a gloomy look. "But I have lost too much blood" »Stamina boost [76%]Lysosomes secretion boost [89%]Metabolism boost [88%]Free Radicals Enhancement [60%]Temporally restructuring the DNA to mimic the state of homeostasis.Recovery Time 10-hours»»Notifications such as the above popped up inside his head one by one until his mind went blurry. He succumbed to a deep slumber.~In a garden with a sweet scent of roses and a bright sun, a little girl chased a tiny rabbit playfully. She ran around a fountain to get closer, but the fluffy bunny was always a way ahead of her. No matter how hard she ran, she failed to catch him every time. Realizing that her effort was for naught, she sat down on the grass with teary eyes. She was about to burst into tears until a boy came close to her and patted her head with a smile.~Argh…‘My head hurts!’ Creed was groggy from his 10-hour sleep. “These pills are a crucial lifesaver, but the headache is a pain in the ass!’‘And why do I keep seeing this dream?’“Do I know them from somewhere, childhood friends maybe? mhm, I’ll have to ask mom about t
A species whose curiosity knew no bounds yearned for knowledge and every secret that the universe had to offer. They called themselves ‘Humans’.For a very long time, they found no trace of life and believed they were alone in the vast cosmos. Harboring an unbound curiosity for their existence, they grew into capable beings and kept exploring in the so-called “Local group” of galaxies.A Paradox termed as the ‘Fermi Paradox’ states conflict between the argument that probability seems to favor intelligent life being common in the universe, but strangely there was a total lack of evidence of intelligent beings having ever arisen anywhere other than on their planet.Humans concluded two possibilities. First, that there were no intelligent species anywhere in the universe. Humans got really really lucky, and they evolved until this point and will continue to evolve further. The second possibility, and a frightening one at that. Humans were on the same route to extinction as other races. U
Creed was lost in thoughts, sitting on the chair while gazing at the golden egg. It was too late until he felt a strange sensation in his body; The temperature dropped by several degrees and his breathing became grim.It felt as if he was underwater inside freezing water. Though his consciousness was still with him, he felt as if he was drowning. Stuff inside his room looked blurry but still noticeable.Things quickly became spooky when he looked at the golden egg again. The egg had gained its golden glow back and was shining like a star and hovering in the air. This made him remember the scene in the elder's tablet with the crucified snake-women."Is this finally the end? Is this egg going to eat me just as it tried with that snake-lady?" Creed had a gloomy look on his face."Ah shit... why can't I just catch a break?"He could see that the egg was shining, but that was just it. He didn't get any painful feeling or energy drain either. Thou
After receiving the lecture on his cloud drive from Jake, Creed took a 2 days' leave from the Glitch to go home. Normally, the cadets could not go outside the Glitch before they complete their training. This was a one-year cadet training regimen, and authorities were pretty strict about this rule. However, for genuine reasons with proof, it was possible. He provided the reason as "An urgency regarding family". After teleporting back to his local station at his home planet 'Zerg', he took a ride back home to meet his mom and little sister Hannah. He reached home in 10 minutes, thanks to the efficient transportation. The condition of his house was not good. It was a normal two-story building house, but the traces of an ongoing financial crisis and a lack of maintenance were fairly visible. He opened the door
After getting the money in his account, Creed let out a sigh. Never could he predict that things would end up like this. The world of glitches was still unknown, so the military entertained the responsibility to nurture the soldiers and help them develop their instincts.Every three months, there was a refill of cadets' gear stock. The military gave the cadets some selected resources essential for their survival, and the next month was the end of a quarter, so he had planned to return the beta-pill back to Jake next month. He did not like to under anyone's debt. However, he knew if he couldn't show a spare beta-pill to Jake, he would never take this one beta-pill back. And if Creed tried to be stubborn about it, in return Jake will pound him even more. That was the kind of guy Jake was. Even though he was play
The wooden box cracked and Creed finally got a good look at what was inside. The gray crystals were nowhere to be found and four muddy eggs were still expanding till they reached the size of double the box.Creed was dumbfounded with this discovery as it was neither observed in actuality nor stated in any research paper, that crystal could ever change into eggs of a beast."What the hell happened here?" He slowly inched closer to the eggs. After getting closer to the eggs, he touched one and felt a faint pulse from inside the egg, baffled by this he started touching all of them one by one and found out that every egg had different sizes but all of them were alive. He had heard that the all beasts in glitches breed in unique environments and unfamiliar places so and the conditions for the birth of a beast were very complex and mysterious. They had many theories, but most of them suggested that they come from their own beast nests, which hid in the d
"How's your sister these days?" Jake asked while sipping some juice. "Has she made recovery?""Yeah, the doctor said that she has made substantial progress," Creed smiled at him. " but they still need to keep her under observation for some tests and leftover therapy.""So that's why you keep smiling!" Jake responded honestly. "Well, I am thrilled for you, man!""Yeah... things are a little better now," Joy was apparent on Creed's face. "For me and mom too!""So ... Have you decided which team will you choose for the upcoming 'Joint Expedition Training'?" Creed changed the topic quickly, " It's due next month, and registrations have already begun... I know you are good but don't delay your options!""Dude I am not delaying my options... I am considering them! I will pick a team soon, although I have already have had an eye on one"Jake made it sound like he had already planned it through "I don't want to be hasty and choose the wrong te
"Grisha, I have finally selected the 10 people you asked for," Alia handed the documents to Grisha. "So far, these are the most suitable candidates, who can be appointed as the leaders of the squads for the upcoming JETs.""That was fast! You sure about these people?" Grisha said as she glanced at the papers. " Because some of them look like cannon fodders to me ...""We really can't do anything about that, this year's recruits are all the weakest of the bunch," Alia replied with confusion. "Although we have talented ones too, some of them didn't even apply for the position of squad leader. So these are the best, from the ones who registered!""Jake, Vick, Tanya, Rahul, Huang... I see none of these names on the list, what is going on?" Grisha was confused too."I told you just now. Many talented cadets of this year have backed off from the squad leader position." Alia tried to clarify with a hypothesis, " They are not interested in being the leaders
Hello Readers, Thanks for staying with me for this long. I know this is sudden but making you all dangle for a petty frequency of uploads is just too cruel. That's why I have decided to mark this as a conclusive checkpoint i.e. mark this book as completed. Been a wonderful journey so far. Every comment I have seen or read (good or bad) has brought a froth of emotions that drove me to write my heart out. In my eyes, as a story, Apaurushya has proven itself as a story with a potential of unimaginable horizon. Every character has surprised me by their actions. Each of them have a life. Almost as if I don't need to write them; they can write themselves. Nevertheless, this isn't the end. We haven't even scratched the surface of what really lies there beyond the ungodly boundaries of these Akashik space anomalies. If you wanna connect, bug me or l
"Jake, wait! I'm coming with you!""Mira! You're here too…""Yeah! Just let me come with you… ""Nope! Just stay here, there is nothing much for you to do...I'm gonna get him cleaned, and drop him to his home!""Come on! Don't be like that…""No means no…" Jake shunned her down. "both of you just stay put…it's better that way. He messed with the alliance, so it's best you keep your distance for now.""Don't worry about me!" Artemis interrupted, "Also, I could say the same to you! How is, you helping him out any different than me!""Alliance has eyes everywhere… I already got myself involved so
Creed felt a numbing headache from all the lights that ravaged his vision. One of his knees immediately gave up and kneeled on the ground. Fortunately, Jake grabbed him by his shoulders before he could fall down."Argh… come on… Stand straight you idiot…""Fuck you! I'm trying, asshole… give me a break!""Serves you right, fucker… " Jake replied with a grunt, "Nobody asked you to throw your sword at her when you're bleeding from your ass! Fucking show off…""Show off, that's what you think?… I was trying to kill her!""Kill her! Seriously, dude, what's gotten into you?" Jake frowned as he dragged him forward. "Better, keep your anger in check. If it wasn't for Miss Luna and me,
"Just do what I say…" Luna's domineering voice broke from the sheer rage, "Or I will cut that bird and shove its head inside your ass."Creed's hair on the neck stood up, and he gulped a mouthful. He immediately turned around and limped back towards the cage in haste. As he saw the Little gobbler almost passed out from exhaustion, a sense of urgency rose. He arched his back to an extreme and swung his right arm.At the last moment, his mayhem saber appeared inside his hand. The saber hit the cage and a loud mechanical screech boomed in the hall.~CLANKUnfortunately, Despite Creed using so much force, the cage did not break. The horrifying sound of metal made Little Gobbler tremble inside.
With his unrestrained perception, his eyesight has been giving him trouble with the information overload. Because of this, his brain has temporarily blurred his vision this entire time. He couldn't see the people who interpreted the battle, only the dark shadows that were too close to him. Creed has been fighting while completely dependent on his other senses. However, just from the brief exchange, he subconsciously understood that this wasn't enough against the one who stood in front. The sheer rage has pushed him beyond the edge. Creed's vision was so dark and dingy that he couldn't even see his face in such a close combat. His brain was a complete mess and volatile perception had put him in an aggressive state, almost like a machine programmed to annihilate whatever comes in front. All Creed could see wa
'So she has ascended too…' Akash murmured to himself, 'bad! This couldn't get worse... Gryffon… What are you going to do now? You better run this time...' The pressure that burst out was something Akash and Kiara were already familiar with, because the intensity was the same as his own rhythm. This kind of pressure could only come from a person who has ascended from the boundaries of bhu-lok. Kiara and others were also freaking out right now. Artemis and the four siblings' faces have turned pale already. They all understood that this just might be the end of this entire thing. There was no way Creed could stand up to her. His level of power was far too low compared to hers. Even with his berserk skill, catching up to an ascended individual is just not possible for a mere elite, no matter how strong. The best cour
A lustful blush appeared on Grisha's cheeks and a huge smile appeared on her rosy lips. Her chest tightened with the shock waves that appeared. She rubbed both of her palms and blew into it."So this is what she gave birth to… the blood doesn't lie… I just never noticed… A fire that burned him into something else… he isn't just a chakra freak anymore… he never was… He is what he's always been…""The son of Queen..."The entire went numb when they bathed under the demonic intent oozing out of the blade. The dazzling sparks that burst from the clashes burned into the eyes of the observers. Not just Creed's blade, but his entire body shined with glimmering scarlet. There was no corner on the stage that hadn't been
"I ask you again!" Creed shot a glare, "Which one of you touched my bird?"The man coughed the ground with his bloody organs. The stage boiled under the tension undefined in all senses. Yet, Dollar Twenty and the other five stood unfazed by the turn of tables. However, amidst the chaos, the audience's guts flipped upside down. Both McConnell and Jiang siblings felt their lifespan shortening.Artemis' eyes turned teary. Her ears burned red when she saw gallons of blood gushing down from Creed's head, dripping all the way to his chin.Kiara, Akasha and Grisha looked at the scene with tightened chests. A razor-sharp sensation crawled inside their blood vessels. Not just them, but several hunters from the crowd now had their undivided focus on the unbridled escal
"Little… Gobbler…" Every hair on Creed's skin stood up straight. His very soul almost rejected his body, and images around him dulled to a standstill. He could hear his heart thumping inside his eardrums. A chronic corruption leaked into his eyes when he heard Dollar Twenty start the bidding. "The bidding for the High-Tier Inca Aves starts with $300 Thousands!" "$350 thousands!" "$400 thousands!" "$450 thousands!" "$500 thousands!" The sound of chatters began to fade out. Creed vision blacked out and a high-pitched siren hijacked his eardrums. His pulse spiked up to a gh
