The sun dipped low in the sky, casting a warm glow over the dining table. It felt good to finally relax. I sat at the table with Adrian, Janet, and Molu, surrounded by the scent of grilled meat and roasted vegetables. We laughed and shared stories, the kind of moments that made everything else fade away, even if just for a little while.

“Do you remember the time you tried to cook that fancy dinner for me?” Adrian’s voice was teasing, his eyes sparkling with mischief.

I groaned, pretending to cover my face in embarrassment. “Don’t remind me! I almost burned the kitchen down.”

Janet burst out laughing, her laughter ringing like music. “You almost burned the water! I still can’t believe you thought boiling water was a cooking technique.”
