A Gift

The interior of the Northway Diner was unlike anything Lisa had seen before. In Lisa's case, she thought the restaurant was a place only the rich could afford, and she would be right, even if a person tried to book a place there it would take months to be able to. But Killian had randomly rented out the whole place for an Engagement party that was nothing but a Sham.

She looked around the restaurant while trying to force a nonchalant expression on her face. Killian wasn't affected by the luxurious setting, he had been raised dining in more expensive places, so the opulence of the space didn't faze him. The decor was elegant and sophisticated, with luxurious materials such as marble, crystal, and fine wood used throughout. The lighting was dim and romantic, with candles and chandeliers adding to the ambiance. The tables were set with fine china, silverware, and crystal glasses, and the chairs were covered in plush fabrics. He had seen it all before, and he was more interested in the quality of the food and service than the decor.

" I want you to behave yourself once we go inside. Even though I don't give a s*** about you or your behavior, I wouldn't want people to have something to say "

If he didn't care about her at all then why should she be forced to do what he said? Lisa was feeling very moody, she wanted to be away from here as much as possible. Firstly she was attending her engagement party which she didn't consent to, and the person she was supposed to be marrying was treating her terribly, ordering her around like she was some Pet. She knew that if she said something now then he would probably put a gun to her head forcing her to agree with whatever bullshit he said.

" Why didn't you tell me about the engagement in the first place?"

" You know about it now, that's all that matters," He said. Lisa was forced to walk beside him as they were led through the high-class building. Even though Killian had rented out the whole restaurant, the party was taking place in just the VIP area. But of course, the people who would be attending were all from influential backgrounds, and none of them would be willing to share a space with ordinary people. Killian thought back on the message he had received from his father. The man had been so anxious to get the engagement done with, it was his plan and Killian didn't even know about it until that morning itself.

They soon arrived in a grand hall decorated with crystal chandeliers and gold curtains, There were multiple tables set out and most of those tables were already occupied by people all dressed in expensive clothing. The heavy smell of different perfumes made Lisa's stomach turn uncomfortably. The moment they stepped into the room all eyes turned to them, Lisa didn't know why everyone suddenly cheered at their arrival, smiling and clapping as if she and Killian were some war heroes.

Killian had a nonchalant look on his face as he walked forward, some people came forward to meet him. Lisa followed closely behind not wanting to be left alone in a room full of strangers.

" Mr Walker, many congratulations on your engagement. Your Fiancee is indeed looking very beautiful "

" Thank you very much " Those words were thrown coldly. Lisa didn't fail the hint of mockery beneath the name words, Killian must have noticed it too. Honestly, she had no idea what was going on or what the relationship between Killian and these people was. It was clear that nobody here was ordinary, but she just didn't recognize any of them, it was because most of them were humans. The thing Lisa noticed was that Killian barely associated with werewolves like him, even the people who worked for him were all humans, she was curious about why an Aloha didn't even have a Beta by his side. Except for Elsa, she hadn't met any other werewolf at all.

And they all either called him Boss or Sir, none of them referred to him as Alpha, it was very strange. " Lisa right? Would you like to have a drink with me ?" Lisa was startled by the appearance of a woman in front of her. She had been so lost in her thoughts that she hadn't even seen her standing in front of her. Looking at the beautiful woman with blond hair she was taken aback, it was Natalia Page. The same woman whom Killian had treated like trash the other day.

Natalia was looking at Lisa with a friendly smile. She was dressed in a short black dress with an open cleavage. Just one look at her and it would show that she had dressed to impress. When standing beside Natalia Lisa felt pretty ugly, after all, there was no way she could compare looks with an A-list actress known for her beauty and killer body. As someone who was meeting their idol for the first time, Lisa felt more dread than joy. Because she remembered the events that had transpired between Natalia and Killian yesterday, and it was all because Killian had made a false promise of making Natalia his bride.

Lisa felt that Natalia couldn't have any good intentions towards her, after all, she could be considered the woman who stole her man. She knew how women could get when they get infatuated with a man, she had witnessed her own mother doing the same after all. Her own mom had treated her like trash and even seen her as a competition for West, so just imagine how Natalia would feel at the moment. However, perhaps if she tried to explain her predicament to Natalia it might make things better. Perhaps Natalia might even be able to help her in some way. With this thought in mind, Lisa returned the smile.

" I would love to "

" She's not going anywhere " Killian was not having any of it. His eyes were cold as he looked at Natalia " You can go drink yourself "

" Killian, don't be like that. I just want to introduce Lisa to our circle of friends. I know that you have some business to discuss with my father, so just leave Lisa to me. I promise I will take care of her "

" Ah, Natalia is right. Mr. Walker, let the ladies have some time to themselves, we can go somewhere private to discuss business. The sooner we get everything sorted out, the earlier you can enjoy your engagement party"

Killian was still reluctant, but Lisa could see that whoever the man with him was, he must have been of great importance to have the Alpha listen to him. " I won't take too long," He told Lisa before letting go of her hand. Killian flashed Natalia a hard look as if warning her to try something stupid. Natalia brushed him off with a light smile and turned around to leave, pulling me along with her. The relationship between those two was tense, it made Lisa wonder if they used to be lovers of some sort or if it was just a random hook-up. Natalia seemed to have genuine feelings for Killian despite everything, Lisa could see it with the way she looked at him. So just imagine how awkward this whole thing was.

" Tell me about yourself " Natalia requested. She led Lisa to a table in the corner of the room. " In case you aren't aware, I and Killian are good friends, I would love to get to know the woman who stole his heart "

Stole his heart? Lisa almost laughed at those words. It was funny of anyone to think someone like her would be capable of stealing a man's heart, especially someone who didn't have a heart in the first place. Natalia herself should be aware of this, maybe she didn't know that Lisa had overheard their conversation that night. Natalia didn't think that she knew she and Killian weren't friends, a friend wouldn't beg the other to marry them. Lisa decided that since Natalia wouldn't tell her the truth about her relationship with Killian then she wouldn't say anything as well.

" There's nothing much to tell really " There was nothing special about her or her background. Unlike Natalia who probably would have a lot to say " My parents and I are from the Blood Moon pack. I am 19, done with high school, and would have loved to go to college, but unfortunately, that hadn't worked out " Her parents had forced her to give up her dreams and everything since West had been in a rush to make her his mate. It was sad, she had thought that going to college would help her make something out of herself. But now she didn't even have the freedom to go outside let alone college.

" I see, Maybe you should try talking to Killian about it, he might let you, " Natalia said. A mocking smile found its way across her lips " And don't think that just because Killian agreed to marry you it means anything. I'm sure if you asked him to let you go off to college it would be an opportunity for him, he has so many mistresses already. I'm only telling you this so you don't get your heart broken "

Lisa didn't know how to respond to that. She really shouldn't be surprised by Natalia's attitude, but that she would tell her to her face that Killian had multiple mistresses, was a bit rude. If Lisa had any feelings towards that Devil she would have been heartbroken by the confession, but thankfully she hated Killian more than she would ever like him. If he chose to send her to college then she wouldn't give a damn what he did with those so-called mistresses of his.

" Doesn't that mean you are also one of his multiple Mistresses?"

" Watch your tongue " Natalia was irritated by her words. Being called a mistress had awoken something nasty in her " I am not a Mistress. I mean more to Killian than you ever will, he is mine and I won't let anybody change that. Sure he's getting engaged to you, but whether or not the wedding happens is yet to be seen "

" That's fine, it's not like I want to marry him anyways "

"Fucking liar " Natalia reaches forward and grabs Lisa's arm " You can never be Queen got it?! Never "

" Let go of me " Lisa pulled her hand away, pushed herself to her feet, and glared at Natalia. She had no idea what Natalia was talking about, what did she mean by her not becoming Queen? Just as expected Killian was keeping a lot from her. And to be honest she didn't give a crap, she wanted nothing to do with him or his Mistresses. " I don't care what your relationship is with him, but keep me out of it "

Lisa turned around and walked away from Natalia. She spotted Killian a small distance away, he was listening to what the man from earlier had to say. He looked up and they made eye contact. Lisa didn't want to go over to him, she was about to walk out of the room when she was almost run over by a woman.

A girl ran into the room chased by some men. She tripped and fell to her knees, the men were quick to grab hold of her. Everyone in the room watched the girl struggling, only Lisa was surprised by what was happening. If she didn't know better she would think that this was an everyday occurrence to these people.

" Mr Walker " One of the men spoke out. He pushed the struggling girl towards Killian. " We brought you a gift "
