Grandad meets the girlfriend

Anon said she would forward the picture of the target to me,that I would get it at about ten pm.

I guess I would become an insomniac again,doing these things always deprived me of my sleep,I could barely get a good night's rest.

Hiding this from JoJo would be my greatest challenge yet,lying was no issue.

The only crisis was that he stuck around longer than needed,JoJo was my Shadow,unless I was good enough to elude my Shadow I would have to tell him the truth.

He would be heart broken, we both swore never to go back to that kind of life,we wanted it to be over and done with.

My phone vibrated.

It was a text from JoJo.

I read through it and slapped my head,and cursed under my breath.

I speed dialed him,and he picked up almost immediately,he must have been expecting my call.

"True,drag your sorry self here this moment!"

"Can't you just stall him?"

"I tried,but you know he's much smarter than that,he's so strict about meeting your girlfriend"

"What did you do then?"

"What do you mean by that! I had to think of something urgently. So I did what I could"

"Jo,what did you do?"

"I hired the lady I met in the waiting room!"he admitted,and I hit the steering wheel.

"Damn Jo,that's just...just...why would you do that"

"I didn't have another idea"

"You never have other ideas!"I blurted out,"I don't need this"I said and ended the call.

But inwardly I was relieved that I didn't have to resort to candy!

At this point, anything else was better than Candy.

"True,she's inside"JoJo said,I had an uneasy look on my face.

"She's a brunette,good height,and has a good set of brown eyes"JoJo said, giving the opposite of the blonde at the party.

"What's her name?"I asked.

"Shit! I didn't ask!"

I gave him a serious look,I was startled,and just simply put dazzled.

"You'll do great"he said,and pushed me inside.

"True"Grandad said,he was sitting up having soup,he was smiling,I turned to the person by his side,she was a brunette,wearing a jacket,and I almost fainted.

She tilted her head,and before grandad could say anything,I beat him to it.

"Joe"I said.

"Surprised?"Grandad asked,she looked exactly the same, just the hair and eyes,I wondered if she was wearing contacts then or now...

She had my jacket on,her hair was shorter than last time,a million questions ran through my mind, but I remained still.

"I asked JoJo to bring her here early,to surprise you"grandad said, enjoying himself.

"True"she said,and hugged me,I didn't know what to do next,I stood there,not hugging back.

"Joe dear,he's just a shy one,you should know that"grandad said.

She placed her hand around my waist,making me shake.

"You okay?"she asked,"just tired Joe,tired"that's it, this isn't going so badly.

"Joe tells me that you two are thinking about moving in together"grandad said,making me swallow my saliva hard.

"Well, we've been thinking about it,he's just waiting for my approval"Joe said.

"I am?"I asked,she elbowed my stomach,"don't play around now"she said.

"So,how did you two meet?"

What would I say,it's gotta be simple and straight forward,and believable.

"In Buckingham palace!"she said,and my eyes widened at that,grandad shared the same shocked expression.

"I was fascinated by the scenery,I was in my final year of college,and my course mates and I took a visit to the palace"

I wanted to see where this girl was going with this story of hers.

I initially was going for how we met at the new Year's Eve party,but she was deep in this version of hers.

"He was visiting the palace as well,it was on October 19th."she said,going into a false flashback,taking Grandad along.

"Joe! Come here!"my friend Tandy said,but I wandered into a garden,it was getting late,and the atmosphere added to the beauty of the place.

I took some photos for my blog,but heard someone coming,and I was startled,and lost my balance.

I tripped,and crashed into the arms of a dashing young man,who held me firmly,and stared into my eyes.

He had his arms firmly about my waist,and our bodies were in perfect sync.

To add to the beauty of the scenery,there was a fireworks show,it was supposed to be much later,but someone triggered it by accident.

And it was perfect.

I knew at that moment,that he was my prince, and I was his princess.

No one needed to tell me,we were a divine pairing.

She had worked up a tear,and I scoffed,what a drama queen,but to my utmost surprise,grandad was busy shedding tears as well.

She must be a professional actress, I was just lucky,what were the odds that Joe was an actress?.

It made me wonder if all that stuff that happened between us was just an act.

She said something about her putting up an act in the party.

It seems as though she's much more than meets the eye.

"True,you really are good at hiding things, you were able to hide her from me"

Grandad was just too happy to be disheartened by me,even though he had no inkling of an idea of the things that I've kept from him.

"Joe,I think we should let grandad get some rest,he's not in his best shape"I said.

"He wants to keep on hiding you Joe,he's such a naughty grandchild. Joe,once you two leave here,move in with him. He lives with that JoJo friend of his. And I fear he'll lack a feminine touch all through his life"Grandad said.

He wanted me not to feel the absence of my mother,but forcing me into a relationship would never be able to fix that error.

It's already in my fate,I had no mom,and no girlfriend could do anything to ooze the pain.

"Of course"she said,and held me close.

She had a scent,it was different from the last time,last time it was like bubble gum,berry bubble gum.

But now,she scented like Jasmine.

I took it in,and looked down at this ineffable woman.

I led her outside,and put grandad to bed,"she makes you happy,I know"he said before finally drifting off to sleep.

I was going to have to wear my heart on my sleeves again,and having this girlfriend would be a way to elude JoJo,and keep him in the dark about working with Anon.

I felt bad for him, I'd have to kick him out.

I went out of the room to see her standing in front of me,I had no words to say to her.

I wouldn't faint,I knew that,but what would I say to her now.

"True,I understand, you're nervous,I see that you love your grandad a lot"Joe said.

Trying to make some conversation,I kept quiet wanting to see where she was going with this.

"But,you'll have to adjust and play along with this story,I don't want to deceive an old man like this,it's just twisted and cruel. But Mr Johnny is a good person,who doesn't deserve to di..."she was going to say die,but refrained from doing so.

"He deserves to leave being happy"Joe said.

"For a second, I thought that what you were saying was true inside"I said.

"You are quite an actress"I added.

She kept quiet now,"and why did you just agree to this deal?"I asked.

"Why don't you trust me?"she asked me,searching my eyes.

"Cos you're blue eyed blonde today,brown eyed brunette the next"I pointed out, referring to her change in appearance.

She looked down at the floor,not wanting to look at me.

"But I won't ask about all that now, what I want to know is,can I rely on you to keep my grandad happy?"I asked. After all,he was my top priority.

"Of course, I won't let you down"she said,"you'll get paid every month end"I added.

"Till when?"she asked me,"till the day we no longer need to put up this set-up"I said,and looked at grandad inside the room.
