01 - The wolf who would do anything - Part I

"Two hundred thousand pounds!" Kai practically growls, his tone of voice irritated with the situation. "Aarni stole two hundred thousand pounds worth of jewelry from the company." He speaks to the man sitting at the office table, who seems too calm about the situation. "You should have kicked him out when he destroyed the papers for the business we did with the gemstone exporter from Asia." His muscles are tense and his expression dissatisfied, a typical alpha would back down in front of a man over six feet and ninety inches tall who was so angry. However, neither of the two alphas there were ordinary. They were even bigger and stronger.

There are two types of alphas in society. Common alphas make up 38% of the population, biologically the strongest and most dominant, at the top of society. They were used to being treated like kings and a "superior race," at least until the discovery of a new class. True alphas are historically the first alphas, those who are born to lead, unlike those who are born only into the lineage, so these alphas can often be rebellious and wild, in addition to being persistent to the point of doing the unimaginable to get what they want. A single true alpha has the strength of ten common alphas, and they make up only 13% of the population, as it was almost rare for an alpha family to have a baby with these characteristics, it was a stroke of luck, because these alphas were always destined to enter the country's congress, as they were the most capable leaders from birth. The birth of a true alpha was more likely to happen between couples of true alphas and omegas, although many omegas avoided this type of relationship because the difference in body structure between them was immense, to the point of getting hurt during sex, but there were still courageous ones who were willing to sleep with these alphas and conceive a child, but they were few and far between, so the percentage of true alphas decreased every year. But Aric's goal was to stop the numbers from falling by creating a lineage solely of true alphas, making his pack the strongest of all.

"You know why I keep him in the company," Aric says, massaging his temples, his voice calm and serene. When he's not angry, he's too calm. "If it were up to me, he'd be dying of thirst and hunger in the gutter." His green eyes carefully analyze some papers. "You also know that what he stole from me is nothing, two hundred thousand pounds was the price I paid for the cover I gave to my brother, Mikael... However, his failure is a very good thing. It's very useful to me. I have evidence that incriminates him, so either he does what I order him to do or he'll spend the next five years being the bitch of alphas in prison."

"Are you going to let him get away with it because of an obsession? Two hundred thousand pounds may not be much to you, but it's still a huge hole in our cash flow," Kai's voice is still irritated, his indignation evident in his voice. Aric raises his gaze to his long-time friend and furrows his brow. If it were someone else, he would already be punching them like an irrational animal. But this was Kai, his brother from another mother. It matters.

"Nobody tells me what to do, but I'll reconsider because it's you," Nygaard responds, licking his reddened lips. "The money will be replaced, even if he has to sell his kidney on the black market. I'm not forgiving this debt, the agreement I intend to make is good, and it's worth more than two hundred thousand pounds. And don't be so hypocritical, if it weren't for my help, you would have never had your omega," Aric reminds him, as much as he doesn't like throwing his favors in other people's faces, it was necessary here. If it weren't for him, Kai would have never had Mia. Aric forgave a huge debt of Yasser Matsen, who was a total son of a bitch, who practically forced his only daughter to prostitute herself to disgusting old men for money, in exchange for him handing over the girl. Yasser immediately accepted, he knew he would never be able to come up with the money he owed. Aric left the girl in Kai's care, who had been seeing the omega for a few months.

"I know, and I'm very grateful for that. What you did for Mia... I'll never be able to repay you... It's just that... It wasn't necessary to touch the company's money for that. Aarni stole two hundred thousand pounds from us, Aric, and he's going to get away with it if you don't give him what he wants," Kai says, hoping that the green-eyed man understands how absurd it is. Nygaard just sighs, running his fingers through his hair and pushing them back.

"You know you're like a brother to me for a long time. And better than anyone, you know I don't like people meddling in my affairs, and that I won't back down from my decision," he says, looking directly into Kai's brown eyes.

"I hope you're really sure about all of this. This madness," Kai sighs. Then two knocks on the door of the huge room are heard. The two men exchange glances for a few seconds.

"I'm more sure than ever," Aric assures, then adjusts the papers on the table and looks at the door. "Come in," he says loudly so that the person on the other side of the door can hear him.

The door opens, revealing Aarni Westberg, a beta, just the one Nygaard had been so eager to see. Aarni, in turn, feels somewhat intimidated by the presence of two true alphas, who naturally exude an aura of intimidation.

"Did you call for me?" Aarni asks, trying his best to keep his voice steady, but failing under the stern gaze of the two men. He feels like prey in front of predators.

"Close the door and sit down," Nygaard orders. Aarni shivers at the tone of his boss's voice and nods in agreement. He closes the door and walks slowly to the empty chair in front of the huge wooden table. Kai Aland, who is standing at the side of the table, never takes his eyes off the beta, staring at him intensely, causing Aarni to shrink back in fear. If a true alpha can scare a regular alpha, let alone a simple beta. Aric smiles to the side, a smile that is frightening, and runs his hand over his chin, staring at his employee. "You know... nothing in this company goes unnoticed by me. I know exactly what goes on here, including if a single coin is missing from the coffers," he says, noticing the beta trembling, but he continues, "Everything that happens in these halls, rooms, and vaults is recorded. The images are here, on this flash drive," he shows the small black flash drive between his fingers, "and your life is in my hands. I know exactly what you did, and I can ruin you."

Aarni adjusts himself in his chair, loosening his tie, the fear evident, and the two alphas present can smell it. A drop of sweat drips down his forehead as the stronger dominants continue to stare at him.

"I-I..." Aarni begins to stutter, but he is interrupted.

"What kind of idiot are you?" Kai raises his voice slightly, causing the beta to shrink back in fear. "Didn't you think about the cameras, Aarni? Didn't you think that your stupidity could be discovered at any moment?"

"I-I swear I will pay," is the only thing the beta can manage to say, then he opens and closes his mouth several times, not knowing what else to say. The words simply escape from his mouth.

"Why did you take those jewels? What did you do with them?" Nygaard asks, placing the flash drive on the table and leaning back in his chair. His green eyes still stare intensely at the man in front of him. Aarni takes a deep breath, one, two, and three times, to finally be able to speak without stuttering.

"I needed that money to pay off a debt... but I swear I'll pay you back... Look, I have a daughter who just started college, my wife is pregnant with twins, I don't want them to go through this... Just give me a few months. I'll pay," Aarni pleads, almost pitiful.

"Even if you worked your whole life, you wouldn't be able to pay me back for what you owe, Westberg. You should have thought about your daughter in college, your pregnant wife, and the twins that will be born before you did this foolish thing," Aric shakes his head. Aarni is now in panic.

"Please, Mr. Nygaard. I'll do anything."
