I walked towards the garden, spotting Ron, Jack, and Andy sitting there.
“I know your secret” she whispered from behind me, startling me.
“Anna, you startled me” I said, “What secret?” I frowned.
“Your secret love story” she whispered, dramatically.
“Paul,” I caught up with him in the parking lot. “Hey,” he smiled a toothed one. To my surprise, he pulled my waist closer to him and kissed me on my head. Is it weird that I was blushing?Observing my face, he said, “You remember our play date, don’t you?”
I was walking to my class with Duke. “I am your best friend, aren’t I?” “Nope” he popped the ‘p’“Now you are being rude” I stopped him, holding his shoulder.“I am not telling you who she is” he said slowly.“You know what? Fine,” I placed my hands on my hips, “Don’t tell me. I’ll find Megan on my own”I started walking away when I heard Paul calling my name. I nodded at him. “You got a minute?”“Hmm, what is it?” “My good for nothing best friend, Trevor, kind of spilled that we are dating, in front of…” he cleared his throat and watched me fearfully. “In front of?” I repeated for him to continue.“My mom” his voice came out squeaky. I watched him with my mouth open and then started laughing, “Paul”He stood straight, “Your reaction is better than I hoped” “Why are you so…scared?” I scrunched my nose.“I thought you…”“It’s okay man. Chill” I punched him lightly on his arm. He smirked, “That’s good to know. You are invited for dinner at my place tomorrow” My laughter vanished a
Edward’s POV:I ran upstairs to her bedroom. My heart ached after hearing her trembling terrified voice. Imagine to have one your loved ones call you, in fear, and they barely speak because they are afraid someone’s in their house. I had never heard her so petrified. It was dark, no light was on. As I approached near her room, I heard her scream. “Emily” I called out to let her know I was here. I barged in her room
He kissed me? Why would he do that? If this was one of charms, I have to admit, they worked. I was taken aback for a few seconds before responding to him. My response was for two reasons. First, Ed was there and I had to make him resent Paul. Second, I wanted to kiss Paul back. The kiss was soft on the lips and it was promising. When he pulled back for a brief regretful moment I wanted him back, lips locked with mine but when my eyes met Ed’s dark, fiery ones, I forgot about Paul immediately. Blood made its way to my cheeks and I went hot and red. Now you see the impact he has on me.
“Hello darling!” she wore a huge smile on her face, which revealed her dimples. Her face was a slim cut with high cheekbones and lined lips, her lashes long and her brows thick. Her hair was slightly wavy which bounced as she walked up to Ed. She was undeniably to most beautiful girl I had ever seen. “Sophie, oh my God, you’re back” “In flesh” she roll
Anna’s POV:I was lying on the bed, arms and legs spread, looking above at the ceiling as if it was the most interesting thing in the world. My mind was racing with thoughts. If the sun was the moon how weird would that be? If you think about it, it wouldn’t have been weird at all because we would have grown used to it and I would be thinking vice versa. How interesting my life would have been if I were a bird; flying all the time to countries and across continents. That would be pretty awesome, that is of course I wasn’t eaten by another animal. And how boring my life would have been if I were a chair; I’d have to sup
Walking to the gym, I couldn’t help but think of our kiss in the hall. I have to admit, Paul is a mind blowing kisser, literally mind blowing. I wonder how it will be when we deepen the kiss. If it ever happens again. I want it to happen. We could make a good couple. For real! I shook my head trying to get rid of these vile thoughts. But fantasizing about an affiliation isn’t vile, is it?Standing at the entrance of the gym, I observed Paul who was dodging Trevor. He did the hesitating dribble and the moment Trevor fell for it Paul aimed the orange ball for the hoop. And it was a two-pointer. He grinned, playfully punching Trevor on his shoulder. “You’ve gotten slow buddy” he mocked Trevor who seemed dim after the shot Paul made. Paul’s eyes met mine and he his face lit up. I smiled, walking towards the two boys.“Your Majesty!”Trevor bowed.“You’ve gotten slow buddy” I repeated what Paul said and Trevor glared at me before messing his jet black hair.“I’m leaving” and he left.“What’s
Getting out of the car, I observed the people around me. I could smell something different in the atmosphere. What was it? There was something off about everybody today. Even my own group was acting peculiar. Holding hands more than usual, locking lips more than usual, getting touchy more than usual! Hugging my books closely against my chest, I walked towards my class, looking here and there. The couples were handing each other wrapped presents and there were cards and stuffed animals and roses and chocolates. What the-?I spotted Ed and a smile made its way on my lips but it disappeared as soon as it came. He pecked Sophia on her lips and handed her a bouquet of white roses; innocence, eternal loyalty, everlasting love. Sophia pulled him close by his coats collar and kissed him. I lowered my gaze, heat rising in my cheeks. Warm hands snaked around my waist and held me pulling me against a broad chest. His lips touched the spot between my jaw and neck. My eyes closed as I inhaled in
I drove the car back with the words of Sophia echoing in my head. “Listen to me Lilly, whatever you think was going on between Edward and I, was all false”“It was all false.” I said out to myself.“I came back with my father because he was filing a divorce. Edward was really just helping me through it. He’s gone through one.”“They were not dating. You fool! They weren’t dating,” I laughed at myself. My cheeks were red with the warming truth and ecstasy building inside me.I parked Andy’s car and ran to find Ed. I looked at our usual bench from a distance; not there. However, the gang was still seated there. They looked rather happy. I was passing the ground, scanning every face. There he was! A huge wide smile appeared on my face and I made a run towards him. I almost made a run towards him but I stopped, the smile slowly wavering off.One random girl hugged him and kissed him on his cheek. He smiled at her. I looked at the ground, thwarted. Scoffing to myself I thought, some other t
“Hello son!”I moved aside to give Andy some space to come forward. “Dad!” he didn’t smile shock was still there. “Are you not happy to see me?”He blinked as if coming back to reality, “Of course I am,” he smiled, “Come in” “Who is it?” Ed asked.“Long time no see Eddie boy”“Mr. Smith” Ed let out his charming smile and hugged him. “Ah, look at you” I’m sorry, wasn’t Andy his son? Andy and Mr. Smith were supposed to meet like the way he and Ed were meeting and hugging and smiling. “It’s good to see you after all these years, Mr. Smith” I glanced at Andy. Baffled, he stood still. I felt bad for him. Tip toeing my way to his side, I rubbed his back as a gesture of saying, ‘It will be fine” There is nothing wrong in being optimistic. We were seated in the common room. “Don’t you have anything to say to me?”Andy released a mocking snicker, “Oh, I have a lot of things to say. And ask? Like for an instance…why have you never called?”“I had my reasons”“Well please. Share them with m
Edward’s POV:“How are you doing?” I asked as I entered her room. It was like a typical girl’s room. The color of the walls emerald green and pastel pink couches and sofas. A coffee table was in the middle with a few books scattered. The cushions matched the wall color. She had huge stuffed animals and a rack full of books. Sophie’s room was neat and elegant like her personality.“You won’t believe what happened Edward” she chimed.“Seems like you’re doing just fine” I sat on the couch picking up a book from there. “Fifty shades darker? Never thought you were into fifty shades” “Change is good Edward. Olivia lent it to me”I responded quickly, “Yeah seems like Livy. Wait! You and Livy are friends?”“Why wouldn’t we be?”I looked at her and shrugged, “Never mind” “Anyways, I have to tell you something important Edward.”“Good news or bad?”“Definitely good” she was smiling. Must be something really good.“Carry on then,” I said as I skimmed through the first few pages of the book.
“I don’t want to go today” she whined. “Anna, you promised you were going to make it right. And you made me promise to come with you. You’re going Anna” I firmly told her.“You are delaying it because you’re afraid and it is alright to be afraid, Anna. But you know the saying, the sooner the better. Lilly is right. You have to do it today” Beth nodded with me. She was glowering at us, “What if she refuses hmm? What if she refuses to let me back in?”“I think you know the answer to that Anna”“She is your mother Anna, whatever differences you have had were in the past; she is still your mother,” Beth held her shoulder. “I’ll drive” I offered. In the next few minutes we were on the road, off to Mr. Andersons’ place. I prayed and hoped it would work out. They want her back. I could see it in their eyes at Christmas. How much longer do they have to be like this?“Are you ready?” Beth asked.“No,” Anna whispered, “I’m not ready.”“That’s why we are here with you Anna. Come on” We got o
Sophia’s POV:“What are we going to do daddy?” I asked taking his hand in mine. “There is nothing much left to do, sweetheart. If your mother agrees to this divorce then we’ll have to sign papers and that will be that. But if she restrains from it then matters will go to court. Your mother is a lot of things but she is not a fool. She will not advertise her affair. She will, hopefully, agree to this divorce.”“And you are sure about it? This divorce I mean?” I asked. He looked at me and kissing the back of my hand, “Listen to me sweetheart, I know this will be very tough for you but I need you to be strong. Nothing is hidden. You know what your mother did. You know my side of the story,” he cupped my cheek, “At this point; I suppose divorce is the only logical and the right thing to do” he kissed my forehead, “I am truly sorry Sophia”He got up and went to his office room. His words echoed in my ears. Suddenly, it was hard to breathe. I know mum was wrong. She most definitely deserve
Ronald’s POV: A hand smacked my back, “Turning nineteen tomorrow, eh? You have become a big man. I’m proud of you brother” Flynn grinned. “I’m glad you could make it Flynn” I hugged him. “Of course,” he moved back and held my shoulders, “You are not the only reason though. Come on.” We were seated at the table with the food among us. Flynn reached out for the skillet chicken thighs with spring vegetables whose aroma took over the whole dining room. Mom slapped his hand away, “Close your eyes. We will pray first” “My stomach is growling. Just one bite” he whined and smirked. “Flynn, listen to your mother” Dad ordered firmly. He pouted at mom who smiled victoriously, “Close your eyes and join your hands together” she spoke softly. “Thank you Lord, for giving me such a loving husband and my two troublesome boys. Forgive Flynn for disrespecting,” Flynn and I looked at each other and he winked at me before closing them again. “Our dear Heavenly father, bless us, O God. Bless our fo
Emily’s POV:Sitting on the bench, one leg over the other, I searched around the busy track to find Trevor. There were a lot of guys from different sports doing laps; basketball players, footballers, athletes. My eyes finally found him. Studying his every move, his expression his looks his body, everything from afar, I came to a conclusion that I actually might like him. He stopped running. A few of his friends gathered around him and they started chatting while walking. He laughed, waving his hand over his sweaty hair. Then he stopped and pulled his shirt up to wipe his sweat from the forehead revealing his chiseled body. He had beautiful eight pack abs. I took a deep sigh. Get control over yourself Emily. I looked down at my knees and smiled to myself. He is hot. I looked back up and he watching me. His face soft and eyes delighted. I just couldn’t stop myself from smiling at him. His eyebrows rose in amusement and he soon smiled back at me. It turned into a nervous laugh. I sat th
“So, what’s going on lately?” he started.“Mm, nothing interesting, I’m just spending most of my time with Paul now,”He blinked and took a sip of his latte. We were at the café, sitting against the window, talking like the old times. However, there was something unusual in the air between us. The familiarity of knowing a person was missing, it was like he was a stranger who I’ve met and known partially. Looking around, I realized most of the café was occupied by the same customers, the regulars. The woman typing on the laptop, the two old couples, a man with a hat and the young couple by the stand.“What about you? How is your life going with Sophia in it?” I said, hoping it didn’t sound like I was jealous. “She’s,” he paused, “It’s going the same as yours. She is going through some hard time and I am glad I’m with her, you know, to help her out of it or at least get through it.”“What’s the problem?”“Kind of personal,” after looking at me, he added, “To her. It’s personal to her s
Danny turned around and glowered at Ed for a brief moment, recalling the fists he received on that day. His face lightened and a smile appeared on his smug face. “Old friend! How are you Eddie boy?” “You,” Ed took a fierce step towards him but Sophia grabbed him by his arm. Ed had his eyes sternly fixed on Danny’s. “Oh right, I forgot,” Danny said suddenly and then turned to face me, “Happy Valentines” he winked. I walked close to him, “Get out” “What’s the big deal? I’m here to enjoy my pie. I just happen to ran into you” he turned to Papa Curt, “One cheese and onion” Papa Curt hesitated for a moment but then reluctantly nodded. “We’re leaving” I heard Ed speak as he walked out to the door. I couldn’t tear my eyes off his hand grasping Sophia’s. “Hot new girl friend,” Danny teased, without looking at him and Ed stopped, “But I would have still preferred Lilly” he looked back, smiling. Ed came marching at him and picked him up from his collar, throwing a strong blow at his face.
