“We talked about this, Venice,” Grayson said with a whisper, hugging Venice back and assuring her that he won't go back on his promise of marrying her.

Mavis could not bring herself to watch any longer. She may be the wife, but at that moment, it made her feel like she was the third party… the one who ruined their almost perfect relationship. She headed to the plane first and settled on their assigned seats.

While waiting for Grayson, she called her friend, Jackson.

“What's up? I just got told that you took another week off,” Jackson stated. “Is something wrong?”

“No.” She smiled with a mixture of bitterness. “We are heading to our honeymoon.”

A moment of silence ruled over them.

"A honeymoon?" Jackson clarified just in case he misheard her.

"Yes," Mavis replied, her hand clenched as the image of Grayson hugging Venice crossed her mind. "Grayson and I are finally going to our honeymoon."

"What changed?" he asked.

Since it was something out of the blue, Jackson immediately sensed that something was going on and Mavis was keeping it from him.

"Nothing. We simply thought that doing something different for our fifth anniversary would make a change."

"I see. Then, if you need me, just call me any time. I have to go now. Show's about to start."

After their brief conversation, Mavis was plunged once again into her sea of doubts and what-ifs. She had no idea what Venice would say to Grayson, but she was convinced that she could make him back out from their honeymoon. It was likely to happen since her husband could not say no to Venice at all.

With that in her mind, she told herself not to feel too disappointed if Grayson would suddenly cancel their trip. That way, she would not be hurt too much if it were to actually happen. But much to her surprise, Grayson sat next to her and even kissed her right on the forehead.

"Sorry for making you wait," he said.

Gathering her courage, she looked at him and asked, "Is Venice coming with us?"

"No."

That was his simple reply. Their flight went by without any hitch, but with Mavis feeling more nervous of what was to come during their honeymoon. A week with only the two of them without work, it was something she did not ever consider happening. Grayson had always been a workaholic man so for him to take a week off of work, it was considered to be a miracle. Even then, it only showed how he wanted that divorce.

Upon reaching the beach side, the two of them were escorted to the private resort that Grayson rented just for the two of them.

"Isn't this a bit too much?" she asked while staring at the two-storey resort.

Grayson clipped his hand around her waist and led her towards the entrance.

"There is no such thing as too much for you, darling," he whispered.

"D-Darling?" Mavis stuttered, her cheeks burning like hell.

She only received a shrug from him before they entered the resort and led to their room. It was a room customized just for them with one large bed overlooking the sunset. The bathroom was as large as the one they had in their house, wherein two people could fit the tub.

Pink and white roses decorated the room, yet it made Mavis a bit uneasy and uncomfortable. She had no idea if Grayson did this on purpose or not, but one thing was for sure... Pink and white roses were not her favorite. They were the adored flowers of her stepsister, Venice.

"No. It is probably just a coincidence. The resort staff must be the ones who put them here and Grayson has nothing to do with it," Mavis thought just to comfort herself and stay away from her negative thoughts.

While she was unpacking her things, she saw Grayson's phone ringing. Of course, it had to be her stepsister so it made her want to reject the call, however, she could not do it because it might just become a reason for her and her husband to fight.

"Venice is calling," she said to Grayson, who just stepped out from the walk-in closet.

He walked towards his phone, but before he could answer it, he felt Mavis tugging at the hem of his shirt.

"T-Today's our honeymoon. Please," she pleaded all the while looking down on the floor. "Please, don't answer it. Two months. You promised me two months of your time and love, d-darling."

As much as her cheeks burning like hot lava, she was relieved when Grayson did not answer the call. He just let it ring on the table as he ushered Mavis out of their room just so they could have their early lunch.

"Do you have any thing in mind that you want to do tomorrow?" he asked in the middle of their dinner.

"Uhm... You probably want to go snorkeling, but I do not know how to swim. I'm so sorry," she replied instead.

"Then, should I teach you how to swim while we're here?" he suggested.

Mavis was quite taken aback upon seeing the smile drawn on his lips. It may not be as bright and as genuine as the smile he gave to Venice, but it was more than enough to warm her heart.

"It may be hard to teach me, but I will do my best," she replied, finally relaxing after being too tensed ever since they arrived.

After having their dinner, they both decided to head back to their room to rest after such a long flight. Mavis could not wait to have a quick soak at the tub since she managed to gather all the flowers that made her uncomfortable. She planned on using them with her bath, however, right after putting them into the tub, she heard the door opening.

"Wait, I am still not..." She gulped at the sight of her husband. "Done..."

"It's okay. We can just bathe together," Grayson said, looking unbothered unlike his wife.

"T-Together? No, you do not have to go that far-"

"Why? It's a normal thing for a couple to do this. And we will be doing it often in the future so try and get use to it as soon as possible," he interjected.

When he was about to remove the only towel that covered his lower half, Mavis immediately turned her back and covered her face with both hands. She could hear her heartbeat ringing in her ears and her mind could not obviously keep up with how things were progressing.

"There's still a lot of space here so get in," Grayson said right after holding Mavis' wrist before she could think of running away again. "Either you get in yourself or I will carry you myself."

"I'll get in!" Mavis immediately replied as she finally turned towards him.

Grayson could not help but chuckle, amused at how red her face was. He leaned on his hand as he watched her remove her robe in front of him. The kiss marks he left on her were still apparent, but it did not look as worse as the other day. Subtly, he clenched his fist upon settling his gaze on her flat stomach.

It may not be obvious now, but he knew that right at that moment, Mavis was carrying his child. He wanted her to abort it, however, he found it too harsh so he would give her a choice. Give birth to the child and give the full custody to him or simply abort it after their honeymoon. For him, that was his only way of showing a bit of kindness to Mavis.

As she sat across from him while covering her chest, he grabbed her foot towards him.

"That's not how this works," he whispered to her before slowly making her turn her back on him and sit in between his legs.

He hugged her from behind with his arms around her stomach. Pulling her closer, he kissed her nape and her shoulder until their bodies were against each other.

"Sorry," he whispered.

Mavis tensed. She turned her head towards him with a worried expression.

"For what?" she questioned, wishing that he was not planning on canceling their honeymoon or going back on his words about their two-month agreement.

"About the kiss marks. They still did not disappear until now," he replied.

She breathed with relief and smiled.

"Don't worry about it," she said before her husband leaned his head on her shoulder.

"I was planning not to go easy on you today, but those marks worry me," he muttered.

Knowing what he meant, Mavis felt her body grow stiff.

"W-We should rest tonight," she said. "It had been a long flight so... We should get enough sleep for tomorrow."

That did not seem to be a good idea for Grayson so he ended up biting the tip of his wife's ear. Mavis almost let out a yelp out of surprise if only he did not cover her mouth. He hushed her as his hand slowly traveled down between her legs.

"Then, doing it just once will be enough," he said.

Mavis threw her head back as pleasure creeped in every part of her body.

"You keep saying once, but you always end up asking for more," she muttered, still loud enough for him to hear.

A moan escaped her lips while Grayson played with her tits, kissing and sucking on them after making her straddle him. Mavis, on the other hand, moved her hips slowly against his erection, which earned her a sensual moan from him.

She put her hands on his lean and broad shoulders before looking him in the eyes.

"Kiss me," she said, sounding like she was pleading yet commanding at the same time.

She did not have to wait for another second because Grayson pulled her close and sealed her lips. His kisses were needy as if he hungered for it for so long. He held the back of her neck before probing her to open her mouth a little more.

His aggressive kisses alone made Mavis weak, making her give in to his desires. And since this was the very  first time he would be taking her in such a place, it somehow thrilled her.

"More... Love me more, Grayson," she chanted in her mind.

She shifted in her position and kissed him on the cheek, something she was not able to do for the past five years. She left the bed and took her bag with her to the kitchen. She secretly took in some of her prescribed medicine so the symptoms of her illness would not show as much as possible during the entire week of their honeymoon. After doing so, she started to prepare some light breakfast for the two of them. Not long after, she felt Grayson's arms around her waist."Good morning, amore," he greeted in a whisper."Just in time for breakfast, honey," Mavis replied as calmly as she could, but her blushing face still showed how this sudden change still affected her.Whil

Flabbergasted would be an understatement to describe how Mavis felt upon hearing her very own husband tell her such a thing. After he left her all alone without any calls, Grayson still had the guts to act like he did nothing wrong to her."Are you telling me, your wife, to move to the bedroom so my sister could occupy our bedroom? Are you listening to yourself right now?" she snapped."I do not want to argue right now, Mavis. Your things are already moved into the guest room anyway. If you need anything, just use my card," her husband replied before walking past her. "I have to head back to the company."Before he could reach the door, Mavis rushed towards him and grabbed his arm. He forced him to face her."What about our deal? Grayson, you promised me! You promised me that for two months, you would treat me like your wife-""That deal is already void, Mavis. Forget about it and just think carefully what you want as an alimony," he said, cutting

Mavis locked herself in one of the cubicles in the washroom, holding her chest with both hands. She still could feel how hard her heart was thumping as if it wanted to jump out of her chest at that very moment. It was not like she was scared that she angered Grayson, but it was her body belatedly reacting after showing such a brave front. As she recalled the words she said, a sense of guilt slowly shrouded her. Holding her belly, she let out a sigh."Your mother is selfish, isn't she?" she muttered, talking to her unborn child. "She just does not know when to let go of your father."At that moment, her marriage of five years came flashing back. It was loveless. Empty. Fragile. What was worse than that was the fact that no matter how hard she tried, nothing had changed. She suppressed a sob. She shut her eyes tight and took several deep breaths to hold back her tears. She wanted to be brave, not just for her sake, but for her baby as well."It

The very next day, Mavis did her usual routine and left the apartment. In the blink of an eye, a crowd of reporters came and surrounded her. Flashes of cameras made her wince, but what caught her off-guard was the very first question she heard from a reporter."Mavis Charter, when did you divorce Grayson Briar?" she asked before almost shoving her microphone on Mavis' face."What are your thoughts on your sister's upcoming wedding with your ex-husband?" another reporter asked. Those questions baffled her because they were speaking as if she and Grayson had already parted ways."And is it true that you were the person behind your sister's accident five years ago?"Before she could speak another single word, a man wearing a hooded jacket, a mask, and a cap swooped into the crowd, carried Mavis over his shoulder and ran away from the nosy reporters. They managed to get away after 10 minutes of trying to lose their pursuers. When Jackson put Mavi

Mavis woke up earlier than usual that day. Even though her scheduled meeting with Hestia Fiore was in the afternoon, her nerves were already on edge and keeping her on her toes. At any moment, she might just burst out of anxiousness. Her bed was littered with only a few dresses and none of them really appealed to her. She felt like the dresses she brought with her were not good enough to make a good impression on the best designer. She then shifted her gaze to the wall clock."Nine o'clock... Around this time, Grayson wouldn't be at home," she muttered to herself. She grabbed her coat and headed to the door. "Might as well go and get more clothes."Taking a cab, she reached the house and carefully observed first if there were any people there. Upon making sure that no one else was around, she stepped out of the cab and got inside. The house looked pretty much the same when she left, except for the mountain of boxes on the corner. Her guess? They were Venice's. Biting her lower lip, s

Mavis waited at the rooftop of Grayson's company, the very place where she first met him. It was a place designed for the employees of Laurasia to spend their break times. Since it was still working hours and everyone was pretty much busy with the ongoing large-scale project of the company, no one was around. She walked towards the table at the farthest corner, where she could clearly see the cloudless sky. It was a table for two only. Even after years had passed, Mavis could not forget how she met Grayson in that very spot. Sitting on one of the chairs, she recalled that one fateful day.It was her day off yet Venice came stomping into her room while panicking and screaming. Mavis immediately woke up after her stepsister pulled her blanket away."You have to go to Laurasia right now!" Venice demanded with puffy red eyes."What? I thought you were going," Mavis replied, confused."Do you think I can go there with these?!" Venice pointed at her face.Looking at her closely, she finally

After the incident at the Laurasia rooftop, Mavis Charter-Briar disappeared in Sephis City. Her disappearance became the talk of the town with the public speculating that she ran away to avoid getting arrested for almost killing her stepsister. Others argued that she left the city because of her failed marriage with Grayson Briar. No one really tried to look for her, not even the Charter couple since they thought she was a good riddance after staining the reputation of their family. Venice did not bother knowing what happened after she left Mavis on the rooftop because what mattered to her more was the proceedings for the finalization of Grayson's divorce."Hey, Jackson..."Turning on his heels, Jackson faced his manager who seemed to be troubled."Do you really not have any contact with Mavis?" his manager asked. He shook his head."I tried calling her and even went to the temporary apartment she was staying, but she is gone. She was not able to get a good sleep the other night since she saw no record of what the designer looked like, making her more anxious with each hour that passed."Are you sure you want to hold the meeting here?" Grayson questioned, wondering why Venice chose Laurasia's rooftop as the venue for their scheduled lunch. Not to mention, she had returned the former internal design of the break room from three years ago."Of course. I actually contacted Diana last night and she said that Mavis did not like going to expensive restaurants. She wanted things simple so this place is the perfect one for our lunch," Venice replied, which was a complete lie.She did not actually contact Diana. "W-What condition?" Mavis stuttered as her heart pounded against her chest.Even though Maximillian had not spoken yet, a shiver made her hair stand on their ends as if warning her that she was entering a trap."Let's make our engagement public," he responded without a hint of jest in his tone of voice.Mavis choked on her food in no time since she never once thought that he would ask something so huge like that. She immediately grabbed the glass of water being handed to her and drank almost half of it. When she got a grip of herself, she glared at Maximillian."Are you out of your mind?" she half-shouted. "I... I can barely remember who you are and the people around me yet you are asking such a thing? How heartless can you be?"The mafia boss's expression did not change. Neither did his mind waver despite Mavis's valid point. He set down his knife and fork before looking her straight in the eyes."That is the very reason I want our relationship to be public. Grayson's kiss was possessive. His arm snaked around her waist, pulling her closer towards him and feeling her warmth that he seemed to have been hungry for. With his other hand, he held the back of her neck to deepen the kiss, however, Hestia pulled away. Pain tugged at her heart and disgust started to boil at the pit of her stomach. "We... We should not be doing this," she muttered, putting her hand over his chest to push him away."You're right. My apologies."After saying those words, Grayson turned his back on her and strutted out of the gazebo, leaving her all by herself. He ran his fingers over his hair with a frustrated sigh upon realizing what he had done. He already divorced her and was now preparing to marry the woman who saved him and who was supposedly his bride years ago, but he hated himself for having contradicting feelings. Hestia sat on the side while enjoying her glass of champagne. Her eyes scanned the room and she pretty much could name every businessmen who attended the party. Heaving a sigh, she could only wait for Mrs. Charter's next move since she was surely to play Cupid that evening. It was probably to make sure that Hestia won't try to get Grayson back from Venice and keep her occupied until the wedding.Shifting her gaze to the right side of the room, just two tables away from her was the group where Venice and Grayson were. According to the information Hestia gathered, they were the elite friends of the up-and-coming bride who visited from overseas."Oh, Mavis... Don't just sit there and watch everyone get along," Mrs. Charter said as she approached Hestia with a rather exaggerated smile.Along with her was a man, probably in his early 30s. He stood at almost six feet with his hair slicked back and only a few strands fell on his forehead. The moment their gazes met, the man smiled and nodded

Early in the morning, Hestia was already awake to prepare for her interview at the Star Magazine. Wearing a simple blue dress with a ribbon tied behind her revealing back, she paired it with two-inch high heels. She grabbed her small bag and headed downstairs, where she found Venice and Grayson surrounded by several bags and luggage. Before any of them could speak, Mrs. Charter came in and greeted them with a kiss on the cheek. "Mavis, dear. It's still early in the morning. Where are you headed to?" Mrs. Charter asked. "If your errand isn't that important, then you should cancel it for now and help your sister unpack.""Unpack?" Hestia questioned since she thought that Venice just packed her stuff and was more than ready to leave the family home. But it seemed like it was the total opposite."Yes. Since it is just a matter of time before their wedding, she decided to live here because she wanted to reconcile with you. Isn't that much better so once she gets married, you two would st

She pulled Venice's hand and forced her to keep her distance from Hestia. "What kind of attitude is this, Venice? Your sister has finally come home after three years of being missing, yet this is what you do?"Venice scoffed at the sudden change of her mother. She looked at her while pointing at Hestia, who was still looking down and wiping away her tears."Really, Mom? You are taking her side?" She let out a forced laugh. Grayson was done preparing dinner and it puzzled him when Venice still did not come downstairs. Usually, she would be in the kitchen with him, watching him cook and prepare dinner. Just when he was about to head to her room, he received a message from Noah, his friend and the private investigator he hired to look into Hestia. "I don't know if you already saw it, but you should take a look at this." Along with the message, there was a link attached. Grayson clicked on it and it immediately led him to the anonymous that was still being feasted upon by the public. Reading through it, Venice was the very first person who crossed his mind. It probably had reached his fiance so he rushed to her room and, indeed, he saw her all wrapped in her thick blanket. Her small sniffles reached her ears. "I... I did not do it," she mumbled. "Why are you blaming me?" She repeated those words like she was chanting a spell. Grayson sat on the edge of the bed.
