Katarina's POV
I was inside the bathroom, hugging with the toilet bowl as I vomited repeatedly. This scene has been going on for a month now. Daphne had been getting worried.I heard someone furiously knocking on my door, followed by a shout. I instantly got alarmed. I know we are safe here - the senator promised that he would not bother us again.Much as I would like to stand up and satisfy my curiosity, I continued my stomach’s ongoing battle with the commode, emptying its contents. Then I heard the door to the bathroom swing open, and warm hands gently caressed my back.I stiffened.I know that touch. My body will never forget his touch. The recognition brought instantaneous tears to my eyes. After emptying the contents of my stomach, I slumped on the tiled floor - too tired with my recent debacle with the bowl. All the while, Regor’s hands kept on touching my bowed head. I could not face him yet. I fear that because I wRegor's POVIt was hard to break off the engagement with Emily Jones. At first, the family wanted to sue me for publicly shaming her, but they at the last minute decided against it.Nevertheless, my lawyers got their hands full, preparing for any untoward incident. What clinched the cancellation was when Emily and I met two weeks ago. I apologized. Of course, the apology also came with a hefty donation for her foundation, one I am glad to oblige.“I sure envy Ms. Dimalanta.” She told me when we shook hands after we signed the documents releasing each other from any encumbrances concerning our botched engagement. With raised eyebrows, I asked her why.“Any girl would be lucky if a man loves her dearly. The whole nation may hate her now, but she has the heart of the man who lords over this nation.”I smiled bitterly at that. I hope Katarina knows that but she was nowhere to be found.Still, I have high hopes for my people. I g
Katarina's POVThat same day, Regor married me in haste. We became husband and wife through a civil ceremony officiated by the mayor of the island community where we are currently staying. Our small attendees included my children, Gino and Marlon, who stood in as our witnesses. I have some reservations, though, but Regor would not have any of them. He told me that he does not want our baby to be born out of wedlock.“Besides, it would be the most fitting ending to our beginning.” He said which made my heart flutter crazily.I know that while he did not tell me yet that he loves me, but his willingness to stand by me and our baby is enough. I, too, am not being vocal about my feelings. I do not know. Although I find it easy to give him full access to my body, it was so hard for me to verbalize my feelings.“I would have wanted a grander wedding, but given the circumstances, we can not do it,” Regor told me apologetically after we sign
Katarina's POVI was already settled on the makeshift birthing bed when Dr. Vanderhurst arrived. Regor timed my contractions. It is now down to five minutes apart.I gripped his hand when another contraction hit me.“Ahhhh!” I shouted in pain. “You're ready to go.” Dr. Vanderhurst told me after she timed my contractions to one minute apart. She explained to Regor that my cervix is a hundred percent effaced and dilated at ten centimeters, which means that anytime now, the baby will be out.I breathed in and out in my mouth, recalling all the breathing practices we went through. Regor contracted a pregnancy class instructor to come in once a week. She also provided me with a video tutorial on how to time my breathing with my contractions.I started pushing when Dr. Vanderhurst gave me the go-signal. Then I tucked my chin to my chest as another pain seized me. All the while, Regor was with me. He did not let go of my hands. He kept
Regor POVWhen our chopper landed on the island, I swiftly got out along with Dr. Vanderhurst. I cannot waste time. I need to see for myself if Katarina is okay. When I started walking, the media ran to meet me for an ambush interview. My guards blocked their way while I pushed those that managed to come near me. One reporter thrust his microphone to my face, missing it by a few inches. Good thing I dodged it in time, or I will be sporting a bruise later.I was half-running, shoving everyone who blocked my path. I even managed to grab one camera that stood in my way, but the photographer held on to it. He accidentally got dragged along when I tried to smash the equipment to the ground in my anger.I had everyone stupefied. This had been the first time that I lost control in public. I nearly forgot who I am in my frenzy.“If anything happens to my wife, I will sue every one of you.” I snapped angrily, threatening everyone within earshot as I
Regor's POVI never thought that being a father would alter my priorities. I am a workaholic. Everyone who knew me before would not believe it when they see me now. They knew that once I started working, it would be hard to tear me off my desk. Now, I grope for any excuse I could find that will afford me a long time with my family.Yes, my family. I already had my lawyers draft the adoption papers of Daphne and Dion. It had been sitting on my office desk for months now. Katarina had been adamant in her refusal to accept my proposal.“I do not want to add more to the popular assumption that I married you for your money.” She argued when I tried to convince her.I felt that was just her excuse. I am certain it is because of Lester, her second husband. I think Katarina still loves her second husband even in his death.I remembered all those times when we talked about Lester."He picked up the broken pieces of my life and made someth
Katarina’s POVThere was an ongoing closed-door meeting attended by Regor and the political party officials when I barged in on the conference room, my kids in tow.I looked around and barely registered the surprised expression on everyone’s face when they saw me, especially Regor.“You can not do this!” I addressed Regor in a hushed tone when I reached him. Although very much aware of the gaping mouths and eyes that followed me, I ignored them. I do not let my eyes look at anyone except Regor. My eyes fixed on his wide-eyed stare.“Katarina, What brought you here? You are supposed to be home, resting.” Regor exclaimed his bewilderment at my sudden appearance in the Palace. He knew how I recoiled at the idea of coming back to the City.He took Kathryn in my arms while he offered his seat for me, which I chose to ignore. There was a collective gasp and murmurs around the round. Katarina’s POVEveryone in the conference room was jubilant with the quick turn of events. One moment Regor was poised to turn over his post to VP Todd, the next, he made a complete turnaround and decided to remain as the President and finish his term.I saw the men clapping and nudged themselves silly. It brought a smile to my face. The crisis is over, at least on the political level, swaying the public opinion is another battle we need to hurdle. Before we bid them our leave, they had been discussing plans and strategies on how they would circumvent the situation with the media. They were in a video conference with the Palace media network head together with other station managers for a compromise.Seeing that the affair left me and the children exhausted, Regor asked his new assistant whose name he said was Mr. Simmons, and my former assistant Lizette to accompany us to his suites so we could rest.Kathryn needs to be fed, too. Regor’s POVIt was a bright Sunday morning. I was impatient as I stood at the foot of the altar, right smack in the middle. Dion was standing beside me. We were watching as the rest of the entourage started parading on the center aisle.I could not wait to be married again. Yes, today, I am renewing my vows to my Katarina in a church, in front of a thousand guests. This is our third renewal, but who’s counting? I wanted her to know with the whole world as our witnesses how much I treasured her.She may have come later in my life, but she was the one who changed the game for me.Then it was Daphne’s turn to walk. She was her mother’s bridesmaid. She was all smiles when she reached me. She gave me a quick kiss on the cheek and a warm hug.I returned her embrace and swayed her from side to side. When I released her she gave me a warm smile that reminded me so much of her mother. Then Lena, the cutest little girl, started skipping the aisle, throwing assort
