“If I sign this, does that mean you’ll marry Axel? Don’t dream. Farley family won’t choose a woman who’s been married before.”

“I suggest you don’t dream either. You’re a cheating man. Unless you’re dead, I’ll never forgive you.”

“I’ll say it again—I didn’t cheat on Vivian. I was just comforting her. She’s had a tough time abroad all these years. I once hurt her, and I owe her. You always used to understand that, but what’s changed? Are you going to keep causing trouble? I’ve apologized, and my patience has its limits.”

“Save that for Vivian. Tomorrow, I’ll go to Hansen Manor to get the divorce agreement.”

I couldn’t be bothered to waste any more breath and turned to walk away.

As I strolled through the garden, I let out a deep breath, releasing the frustration building up inside me. Damian’s self-righteous attitude was suffocating.

How could I have been so blind before?

A waiter holding a tray hurried past me, and I quickly stepped aside. But it seemed like he didn’t even notice me—he still collided into me.

I steadied the tray, though the wine glass on it shattered onto the ground. He kept apologizing repeatedly.

I helped pick up the glass shards, and he kept saying thank you.

“What are you going to do now?”

“I’ll go get another set of glasses.”

“Don’t I need to compensate you?”

“No need, thank you.”

As I wandered through the garden, a sudden commotion broke out.

“Oh my god, my jewelry is missing! That was a priceless gift! Can everyone please help look for it?”

“It’s the Heart of the Ocean necklace my brother just bid on! He entrusted it to me for safekeeping—it’s supposed to be a gift for our mother.”

It was Emily again.

She really didn’t give up on causing trouble for me.

Vivian approached me cautiously, her tone careful. “Perhaps… you could check your bag? Of course, I’m not suggesting anything, just for everyone’s peace of mind.”

I responded coldly, “With so many guests here, why did you single me out?”

Vivian forced a faint smile. “Amelia, among all the people here, I know you best and trust you the most. Starting with you might be the easiest solution. Would you mind checking? This necklace was Damian’s mother’s favorite.”

I was direct. “We’re not familiar, and I’m not willing to.”

Vivian’s smile froze, but she remained polite, clasping her hands together and bowing slightly. “Please, Amelia.”

The murmurs around us grew louder.

I scoffed, coldly saying, “Your begging won’t change a thing.” I turned and walked away.

Emily rushed forward, forcefully grabbing my bag and pulling the zipper open.

I was furious. “You have no manners!”

A stunning necklace gleamed in Emily’s hand as she held it up triumphantly, much like a victorious general. “See? I told you—you’re a thief!”

The guests surrounding us exchanged strange glances, but I felt no shame whatsoever. After all, I wasn’t the thief. I quickly dialed the police. “Hello, Sir, there’s someone here who stole a necklace valued at $100,000. Please come immediately. The address is…”

Vivian’s eyes flickered nervously. “Amelia, there’s no need to call the police. We all know each other, and I’m forgiving Emily this once.”

I found it utterly ridiculous. “Are you treating me like I have an IQ of fifty, or is your brain just as slow, assuming everyone is as stupid as you?”

Vivian’s mouth was about to twist in frustration.

“I trust Amelia. She wouldn’t steal that necklace,”

A deep, calm voice cut through the tension. It was Damian, his composure regained.

What was going on? Damian, who usually doubted me at every turn, was now vouching for me?

Emily’s eyes widened in disbelief. “Brother, you trust her, not me?”

I studied Damian carefully, and he gave me a small, fleeting smile.

He was still incredibly handsome. That smile sent my heart racing, but I maintained my composure and said, “Whether you believe me or not, I only trust the police’s judgment.”

Damian’s smile faded. “Amelia, I know Emily hurt you. Please, for her youth and inexperience, don’t let her lose her dignity at this event. I’ll make sure to discipline her properly at home.”

“But I’ve already lost my dignity, my reputation. How do you plan to compensate me for that?”

Damian paused, then brightened with enthusiasm. “I’ll treat you like the moon goddess. Just like that.”

I let out a soft laugh. “Do you think you’re an Alpha? Even if you were an Alpha, I wouldn’t be your Luna.”

Damian’s expression darkened. “Amelia, can’t we start over? Do you really want Grandma to know we’re separating? She loves you deeply.”

One arm wrapped around my shoulder.

“My Amelia will never be mistreated. Keep an eye on your sister and your mistress, Mr. Hansen. You don’t have the right to talk about love with Amelia.”

Axel turned to Emily. “This vile young lady, I suggest you confess your malicious tactics to the police.”

Behind them, a stern-faced police officer stood.

Nearby socialites whispered among themselves:

“It really is the police. Axel seems very protective of his partner. I’ve never seen anything like it—just because of a girl’s petty conflict, he’s calling the police.”

The police had already retrieved the surveillance footage and apprehended the service worker who intentionally bumped into me.

Emily’s face was as pale as a ghost.

“The necklace has no fingerprints of Amelia, and with the surveillance footage showing the service worker intentionally placing it in her bag, we believe this was a deliberate act.”

“Miss Amelia, do you wish to press charges, or should we stop here?”

Emily’s gaze remained fixed on me, panic-stricken.

I smiled and turned to Damian. “Now, the decision is in your hands. If you’re willing to sign the divorce agreement with me immediately, I won’t pursue Emily any further.”

Hearing this, Emily let out a sigh of relief. “Brother, please just agree.”

But Damian remained silent, his eyes filled with disappointment and pain—a heart-wrenching sight.

Yet, I had a heart unbreakable as steel.

A faint smile appeared on my lips. “Since Mr. Hansen doesn’t wish to proceed, then, Sir, please continue the investigation.”
