Chapter three

Amber walked briskly out of the hospital, though she as always been a goody two shoe but sometimes she wishes she could also be indifferent to some things and turn a blind eye but she couldn’t, she had to spend almost all her saving for Ann's treatment and there was a high possibility Ann would go back to her gambling as soon as she gets out of the hospital, why couldn’t her foolish sister put make something out of her life and most importantly why was she making her own life more difficult by always bringing debt to her, if only she could say no to her sister but she knows she is the only family member Ann has and she couldn’t say no to her, her phone rang and she picked up, “Hello, Amber Curt speaking” she said and listened while the person on the other side of the phone talked” Amber beamed, her bright smile made her blue eyes lit up as she said “thank you" and hung up, she twirled around and laughed hysterically like a man person, some people passing by almost mistook her one but she quickly said “sorry" and walked away, she walked to the nearest bus stop and decided to call Jen, Jen has been a great support to her since they met in college, Amber would always do part time job and miss some of her class, Jen always covers up for her and even lends her money when she could afford it, Jen picked the call and Amber shouted “I got to job Jen" people standing at the bus turned to look at her as she shouted for joy and some smiled while some looks pissed at the pitch of her voice. She said “excuse me” Then she continue her call in a more calm voice “Jen thank you so much, I couldn’t have done it without you”

 

Stanley White walked into the grocery store and asked to speak with the manager, the sale rep asked what he needed and offered to assist but Stanley insisted on seeing the manager, the sale rep asked him to wait and went into the mangers office at the far end of the store, he came back out am ushered Stanley into the office, a bulky man sat behind the desk, his rimmed glasses sat silly on his big nose as he looked up at the man before him “sit down Mr” he said and Stanley responded “Stanley, Stanley White” he sat on the chair at the bulky man's gesture for him to sit, “now, I was told you insisted on seeing me" The bulky man said in his thick voice and Stanley shook his head affirming the statement then he said “am a PI, working on a case currently and need a footage from your CCTV” a knot appeared in between the bulky man's face as he asked “what footage will that be Mr Stanley” “it’s the footage of your back camera from two years ago” Stanley said, the man raised a brow and asked “what month, we exactly cause the camera was installed two years ago after we were robbed and we discovered the robber had come in through the back door but that place was a blind spot and we couldn’t see anything, so I need specific to know if we might be of help" Stanley nodded his head and said “2nd of March 2018” the man shook his head and said “am sorry but this camera was installed on the 5th of March 2018” Stanley Rose to his feet and stretched out his hand for a handshake as he said “thank you for your time, I appreciate your willingness to help" the man said “you’re welcome” and Stanley walked out of the office and out the store, he looked around, wondering if there was any camera left around that area that he as not Checked yet, seeing nothing he decided to come back another day when he was refreshed to check.

It was the first day of her new job, Amber stood in front of the mirror looking at herself, her jet black hair fall straight on her shoulders and she smoothen it with her hand,  she appreciated herself more in the mirror and said to herself “well, Amber, this is as good as it gets, make the most of it" she walked out of her one bedroom apartment and prayed her sister will not cause her any trouble for a while so she can get some savings from her new job and buy new clothes so she could appear more presentable, most of her clothes were second hand clothes she picked from thrift stores, her wages as a waitress and house cleaner didn’t quite buy her fancy wears so she had to make do plus her sister was always getting her into trouble so she didn’t have much for herself at the end of the day.
