Chapter 37 EDEN POV “What do you mean you have no idea how you did that? You were literally choking the bitch while standing across the room.” My stomach plummeted at the words that were screamed from across the room. “You guys need to stop freaking out. I don’t think that was all my doing.” My voice shook towards the end as fought the tremor in my voice. “And you expect us to believe that? Eden… We saw you. That was all your doing. I was shocked at first because only Grace and her squad are capable of doing that kind of thing, but we saw you. Your are the one who did it.” Venice countered slapping her hand onto the table, her green eyes snapped wide at me from where she sat. I hated being on spotlight, and it seemed like that was what my life had come to these days. “What else do you want me to say? I don’t know how I did that.” I responded with a shrug, my hands raised on my sides hoping that they would cut me some slack even once. I had no idea where all of that power came f
EDEN POV I wish I could fucking disappear! Just vanish into thin air without even leaving a puff of smoke behind because, at this point, Grace would just fucking track me with it and haul my ass back here. My throat was scratchy and cracked, my muscles sore, my voice hoarse, and it felt like I hadn't drunk water in years. Worse, my mate didn't seem fazed by my ending suffering and was pretty much having fun with my wolf deep in the woods, canoodling and rubbing around like lovers they were while I was left here all tormented. At this point, I was convinced Riftan would be the one to hand out the decree for my death. "Alright princess, break time is over," Grace called out jumping from Chase's lap and sashaying towards me, her beautiful mane bouncing with every step she took. A groan ripped out from my throat before swallowing down a bite of an apple I had been chewing for the past five minutes and forty- seven seconds. Even my teeth hurt. "Giving me a pitiful look isn't going
RIFTAN POV A loud boom filled the afternoon air, sending a rush of angry wind through the trees. Inara and I jerked our heads to where the sound came from before crippling panic settled in my bones. The ground shook for a few more seconds before everything quieted to deafening stillness. A small whimper fell off Inara's snout. "Eden." I roared before ripping from the ground and charging to where the sound came from. Inara was a ball of swift fur on light paws as she matched my running pace her heart pounding with what tasted like fear and slight panic. "Where is she? Can you feel her?" I said telepathically to my mate's wolf, hating the mere idea that something might have happened to her. The connection between us was so faint I wondered what the hell happened to her. And as much as I had exclusive access to her feelings about the mate bond- her wolf was a literal piece of her soul and the only thing that had answers to all my questions. "She passed out. Over-exerted hersel
EDEN POV I came to with a pounding headache and an aching body, ripping a small whimper from my lips as I tried to move my legs. Amidst great pain, I felt whole, and I instantly knew that the other part of me had rejoined my being to make me whole. "It's okay, baby." the familiar voice drawled before a pair of strong arms slid under my torso and lifted me into thin air. I subconsciously leaned against his shoulder and let him carry me across the room. I peeled my eyes in time to see him slither effortlessly into the bathroom, and I took in the sight of the big circular jacuzzi with hot water bubbling in it. My body started tingling with anticipation. Riftan climbed into the tub without putting me down, then lowered himself into the water, causing our whole bodies to be engulfed by the rippling waves of the very much-needed hot-water therapy. A moan slipped through my lips. “Is it good?” His voice made my back vibrate as he drawled, and I let out a small ‘hmm’, before slip
EDEN POV When he said a vacation to rewind, I didn’t presume that it included a boat ride off the UK and onto foreign lands, and another excruciatingly long but awesome ride with my head out of the sunroof singing to the songs played in the car. But man was it exuberant. I felt lighter on myself than I had been, the air felt fresher to breathe, and Riftan looked so carefree like the weight of the entire world had been lifted off his shoulders. “You still haven’t mentioned where we are going.” I accused settling down into my seat with a pout before folding my arms across my chest. “What’s the fun in telling you?” He cast a naughty look my way before facing the road. He had one hand on the steering wheel, the other was settled on the lever with ease, and he looked like he was doing what he loved the most. A shudder rippled through me when last night flashed across my mind, and I cleared my throat before staring ahead. Instead of bringing it up, I searched my mind for any
RIFTAN POV If it’s not the bloody one thing, it's fucking another! If not dick-assed alphas spreading shit around my pack, then it is the bloody prophecy and a whole of meshuga it comes pulling. There were times I felt like I could just run and hide, times I wished that maybe we were just born human so we could live the rest of our lives in peace fighting over the last slices of pastry, then die of old age. And now was of those fucking times. We left home to catch a break, a small moment where we just lived as us, two souls in love with each other; only for my mate to be attacked by prickly Vampires. I knew what happened wasn’t going to go unnoticed, especially when the vampires I just torched were not just any random vampires and fuck, we already had so much on our plate as is. Deciding to not sour my mood more than it already was, I focused on my task at hand. Lucifel was jumping up and down in my head from the frustration of seeing his other half with a torn back,
EDEN POV I didn’t even want to think of the Pandora’s box we’ve opened. The worms had a stench and soon, we were going to have to deal with it. This is why I decided to push everything that had to do with the vampires and burning the gas station to the back of my mind and focus on the vacation my mate planned so carefully! It was a pity we couldn’t enjoy it to the fullest maximum, considering there was a whole apocalypse waiting to happen. But I still felt pretty good and happy about everything. The following day, Riftan and I spent the whole day slithering between white silk bed sheets, feeling each other and drinking from one another's soul. it was a title honeymoon where we made love every time our eyes made contact. it was fatal. The war between the sheets of course! By the time the sun started to set, I was all achy, with a million hickeys and bite marks covering my body. I could feel the burn Riftan left, wincing every step that I took. When the night started to f
Chapter 44 Riftan POV This whole thing was starting to feel like a mistake. I thought to myself as I watched her walk away. A small stomp in her steps. A part of me was livid, wondering just what the hell she took me for. The other major part of me, however, understood her worries and why she'd think I chose this place to see Amber; I had a reputation myself, and it exceeded all other things I've done. With a frustrated groan, I took off behind her. I made sure to maintain a healthy distance, keeping my pace low with the purpose of finding her in our room. It'd help her cool off! I hated to think what would happen if she remained angry at me. Another frustrated groan and I halted, then faced up at the twinkling stars and cursed them. My wolf grunted in response before he erupted forward, causing a pant of headache to lasso through my skull. And that’s when I felt it. Panic. Simmering low. And it was not coming from me. ‘Mate. She is in danger.’ Lucifel grunted
