Jerome's report

“ What are you doing here ? ” 

My Father bellowed after he had knocked my head harshly . My eyes suddenly became watery as I thought of a response .

He came at the wrong time as Lady Sia will not hesitate to spew all that occured in the restaurant a few minutes ago .

My heart raced fast . He is very dangerous and unpredictable especially when it comes to Lady Sia .

I could only plead my innocence for pleading sake, my father would deal with me in tremendous ways .   

      Sometimes, I wondered why he bore so much hatred towards me and nothing about me concerned him . He would rather pretend to be good to a random stranger than see to my needs .

Everything I wanted right now was somewhere I could go to , someone who could love me more than this people that I was related to by blood .

“ Have you suddenly become deaf ? ” My father asked, taking me aback . I nodded my head in disagreement and tried to move away but he seized me roughly by neck .

“ Arrgghh ” I groaned in pain trying to wriggle out of his grip . I must be a fool trying to free myself from the grip of a heartless man .

He choked me dangerously and I coughed loudly with my eyes bulging out . 

My fate was to die but could I not die peacefully ?

Why is the moon goddess very unfair to me ? 

Must I be choked to death ? 

I was slowly losing my breath and my heart felt heavy . A hand suddenly pushed my father roughly. 

“ let her go ! ” he yelled, his voice laced with anger .

It was Benjamin Moore . His eyes were red , filled with rage and hate .

“ You should mind yourself . You are crossing boundaries and it's very dangerous for your kind ” My father warned, waving an index finger in his face .

Benjamin scoffed in response before turning to me .

He pulled me close to himself in a warm embrace and apologized for not checking on me earlier . I felt loved and cared for .

Indeed, he was the family I never had .

    Ashton 

      I sat by the pool completely lost in thought wondering what I should do next when Jerome reports back .

Do I go see my mate ? 

Should I let her be and continue with my betrothed ?

She caught my attention ,her scent was spectacular and her distance makes my heart yearn for her .

No ! I am engaged and should be looking forward to meeting my betrothed . I reminded myself of snapping out of that silly thought of chasing after my heart .

She looked younger than I expected and must have a highschool sweetheart whom her heart beats for . It was certainly not me !.

“ How can you be so unruly with your thoughts ? ” Nate's voice rumbled and I sighed like I had not heard what he said .

Nate and I are opposite sides, like we never spoke in alignment .

“ Are you gonna pretend that you didn't hear me Ashton ? ” Nate said in a sarcastic tone . 

I hissed slightly because this horny wolf will not allow me think clearly 

“ Did you say I am a horny wolf ? ” 

“ Why not shut it you horny wolf ? ” I snapped at Nate who growled slowly . 

  I was about to shut him when Jerome approached me . He did not look happy from his countenance .

“ Hey man ! " I greeted casually , beckoning him to sit . He slipped his hands into his pocket ,a sign indicating we should stand and not sit .

Jerome stared into space for a moment keeping me on tippy toes .

“ Ashton , ” he called taking a pause 

“ The girl you called mate works at the restaurant and I think the lady who owns the restaurant is her relative . ” He started ,his gaze peering into mine . 

My own mate , a worker in the restaurant , is as derogatory as an Alpha's mate .

I observed it for the first time but wasn't really sure . So I sent Jerome the second time to check out things as he is an observant person .

I nodded my head so he continued .

“ She's being mistreated , and can not stand up for herself . I think the lady who owns the restaurant is one of our kind . I'll look into her profile .” 

My temper arose listening to such feedback . It is low for an Alpha's mate to be working in the restaurant and the worst of it all ,is that she is mistreated there . Why treat her like a slave?

“ Who the hell did that ? ” I asked angrily 

“ The lady who owns the restaurant did. ” Jerome reports and I managed to keep my cool .

I am going to find that lady wherever she is , hunt her and do the same to her . 

How could she be cruel ?

To my own mate ?

No ! Alpha Ashton's mate can not be treated as trash .

“ What time does the restaurant close and open ? ” I asked clenching and unclenching my fists in anger .

“ They open by eight in the morning and close by eight at night .” Jerome responded softly .

I will go tomorrow and see things for myself , and will feel my wrath when I get there .

“ Ashton, you won't be able to go tomorrow . You have to meet your betrothed .” 

Jerome chirped in as if he was reading my thoughts . I furrowed my brows .

Oops .

That betrothed again ! 

Couldn't my father reschedule the meeting date ? 

I seriously wasn't eager to meet this betrothed .

Can't this betrothed not choose not to see me too ? 

I was confident that meeting my betrothed is not the ríght thing to do . 

I wished Father would hear me out , but that seemed very impossible .

This was the reason I had returned from my business trip . 

This meeting is going to be troublesome !
