~~ HAZEL ~~
It seemed like a dream to me, I couldn't believe that my enemy happened to be my mate.
Why should the moon goddess do such a thing? I guess she was mistaken.
Giving me a man that hates everything about me including my footsteps and foot match as a mate is disgusting.
But hell! I wasn't expecting a rejection from my mate, neither did I know that I wolf less.
I had rumors that my family is cursed, and the sudden death of my parents is a result of that curse from the moon goddess, but till now, I still don't know why we were cursed.
If she had cursed us not to have a wolf, she would have done the same thing when it comes to mates. Being wolf less but given a mate is heartbroken.
I can't really stand and watch my own brother weep because of such things too. I need to get ourselves out of this mess, besides, we don't know the crime our family committed.
The guard that had dashed into the room gripped my hand and dragged me out of his room while I was in tears.
Just like before, laughters of mockery filled the whole place because of me.
"Hold on! What's wrong? Did you commit any crime again?" I heard a masculine voice behind, and then a soft palm that gripped mine.
The guard stopped and Earl walked to us.
He wiped the tears on my cheeks and everywhere was silent.
"Happy birthday to you." He said to me.
I tried to fake a smile, but couldn't. "It's not a happy birthday, it's a sorrowful birthday." I replied to him.
He smiled at me. "No matter what the issue is, you should be grateful for adding a year again."
"Not when I couldn't shift because I'm wolf less, then my mate rejected me immediately he found out." I uttered amidst the pain.
He stood still for a while staring at me, and then gripped my hand.
"I heard your family is under a curse by the moon goddess, maybe that's the reason. Who then is your mate?" He asked me.
I glanced at his face and bent my head. "The king, he found out and rejected me, now I'm banished from the pack." I announced to him.
Though I'm very sure that Alpha Onyx wouldn't listen to anyone about me only if he decides to, I still have to tell someone my problem.
He narrowed his eyes. "You mean, Onyx is your mate? That's fabulous. He shouldn't reject you that way."
"What other way should I take in rejecting her? Just excuse them, so the guard can take her off this place." I heard Alpha Onyx's voice referring to his friend, Earl.
Immediately, the guard dragged me again and we moved into my little hut, and I packed all my belongings.
He left with me to my parents house and dragged my brother out, then he kicked us out of the pack as he was ordered.
We turned out to be rogues.
My brother and I had to start building a little hut with woods so we could see where to rest our heads every time.
After we were done, Zion brought up the discussion of the reason I was banished with him.
"The king hates me so much, so he rejected me when he found out that we were mates." I explained to him.
A mistake I'm trying my best not to do is to tell him that we are wolf less, I'll surely find a solution to this before he turns eighteen.
"The king is your mate? He shouldn't have rejected you." He twisted his face for a while and then shook his head.
"If that's how he wants it, then no problem. He's just heartless." Zion added
"Forget about him, let's talk about our welfare. He'll surely come to his senses one day." I patted his back.
~~ ONYX~~
It's been days since I banished Hazel from the pack, but still I couldn't be myself.
I've been dragging the issue with my parents, and Selah has been in tears all these while too.
She wouldn't want me to get married to someone else, neither will my parents let me marry her.
This is just being complicated.
I banished her from the pack to avoid people knowing about it, yet the rumors spread everywhere already.
The thought of having someone like her as my mate seems like a disappointment to me.
A knock at my door drew me out of my thoughts.
"Who's that? Come in."
The door was opened and a guard walked in.
"Your majesty, the priest is here to see you. He's already in your chamber with your parents." He announced to me.
The priest? I rolled my eyes. It's been a while since he stepped his feet on the palace, and I can tell that everything isn't alright with his coming.
"I'll be there now."
The guard left while I took my cloak and had it on, then left the room.
I entered the chamber to see my parents seated while the priest was still standing, his face wasn't bright at all.
"He's here to drop a message for you, so give him all your attention." My father referred to me.
I turned to the priest. "What's the message all about? Go ahead and tell me."
He focused his gaze on me this time. "You're about to lose this throne."
I quivered on hearing that, and my parents forcefully stood up. "Did I hear you well? Why would you say that?"
"You're planning to get married to a woman that isn't your mate, but you'll lose this throne if you do that. Go and find your mate, she alone will be the Luna of this pack." He turned his face at me and hit his staff on the floor. "Failure to do that, then the royalty will be taken away from this family." He concluded and walked out immediately.
I scratched my head, this is more than I expected.
The fact is that, I wasn't expecting such a thing at all. How on earth am I going to deal with such a thing?
I don't think he's aware of who my mate is, or he wouldn't say such a thing to me.
"You heard him very well, and I'll banish you from this pack if the Royal staff leaves this family." My father referred to me and left the chamber with my mother.
I sat on the throne trying to put myself together.
~~ HAZEL ~~Apart from hunting, there's no other means to feed, so I had to go with my brother and we looked for a way to sneak into the packs so we could sell the animals we hunt. When we were done locating the roads, we resumed hunting again since we were done with our little hut. That day seemed so sweet to hunt, maybe because I still have my birthday in mind, though two days have already elapsed. "Let's celebrate your birthday with the squirrel, it's not too late." My brother said to me and I smiled."But we have to go sell these ones first before the celebration, isn't that better?"He shrugged his shoulders. "It's better, when we sell them, we will buy some food stuff from the pack market before sneaking out again." He added. We left together to the nearest pack near the wood and sneaked into it. We didn't bother to ask adults on the way to the palace, rather we asked the children playing around. But before we could reach the palace, we already sold all the meat and only decide
~~ HAZEL ~~Three days after I returned to the palace, I was crowned the Luna of Blue moon pack.It was something to be happy about, but to me, it was something else. The king had already told me that I'm not his Luna, rather he's keeping me beside him because he doesn't want to lose the throne. What the hell! He's only using me, and not because he loves me.He renders curses on me even in the presence of everyone and calls me abusive names. It seemed like a dream to me when I was given a different room from his, and he ordered me never to step my feet in his room without his order or he would skin me alive. My mate is cold hearted. He doesn't suit me at all.Despite that I was crowned in the presence of everyone, he still turned me into a slave and made sure that I'm bullied. His sister is recovering quickly, maybe I'll leave the palace again when she's okay because I might not withstand the pain. The only one who's nice to me is Earl, his friend and then his parents. But still, I do
~~ HAZEL ~~I was dragged to the backyard and tied to the tree over there. The ropes were hurting my skin and it began bleeding."Fifteen strokes of cane." One of the guards muttered and pulled out the cane at his side."Why not let me go please? I did nothing, he's cheating on me." I referred to the guard who was about to use his cane on me.He stared at me for a while and sighed. "I'm sorry, it's an order given to me by the king… and I might lose this job if I don't obey him." He replied politely.I could sense that what he's about to do isn't from the depth of his heart, but he had to because there's no other option left for him.He stared at his cane and moved closer to me, then gave me the first slash on my arm.I groaned in pain as he gave me the second and third slash. Taking a look at my arm, it was bleeding profusely. The cane is so sharp that it pierces into one's skin.He was about to give me the third slash when someone held his arm upwards.I adjusted my head with the tea
HAZEL'S POV; As soon as the dowager queen left my room, I fell onto my bed and burst into tears. Nothing seems to turn out well for me and I begin to wonder if the curse that has been placed upon me is also affecting every aspect of my life because why would I be mated to someone who hates me more than anything? Everything seemed bleak and I decided to stay locked up in my room for a while. That way, I'd be out of Onyx's way. He doesn't even want to see my shadow and so do I. Somewhere in the deepest part of my heart is nothing but hate for him. It's starting out as a seed and I believed that in no time, I'd hate him with everything I have in me. I have been miserable my whole life thinking that my mate was somewhere waiting to claim me and be my redemption. I feel like I just walked into destruction. I suddenly begin to regret why I even chose to marry him in the first place. My wounds have been tended to but it still hurts. I can't heal fast or even at all becau
HAZEL'S POV; As soon as I shut the door leading to Onyx's room, I lean against thr wall by me and heave a sigh of relief. I was scared for a moment, thinking he was going to do something terrible like throwing me into the dungeon. But he did nothing. He only smacked me across the cheek and I am already quite used to being slapped by him. I move away from the wall and start walking down the corridor. I pass by Cherry's room. It's locked. I stop walking. I wish I could go into her room and check if she's getting better. Everyday I pass by her room, I feel really guilty and I wish I wasn't there in the woods, hunting, when they arrived. That would have saved me all of this drama. She's been sick for weeks and everyday, I suffer for that one mistake I made. Sighing, I move to her door and raise my hand to the handle but I stop myself when I hear footsteps coming behind me. Turning, I realize it's Onyx and he's glaring at me. "What are you doing there?!" I mo
HAZEL'S POV; Some of the maids have taken a liking to me. Theresa is one of the maids who I became friends with and I'm surprised. I mean, not everyone likes me and then she's all supportive whenever I need her. There's a dining chair in the room and she takes a seat beside me. She's holding two bowls. One containing chicken soup and the other containing boiled, mashed potatoes. My favorite. "What happened?" She asks. Pulling the bowl towards me, I shrug. "Well, I was asked to leave the dining room by Onyx. I had no option," "Did the Dowager Queen ask you to stay?" "Of course, she did. Onyx's father also did. But somehow, Onyx did not agree. Slightly threatened then by saying he was going to leave the dining room for us. Remember he rarely eats with us. His mother had no option. She didn't want to tell me to leave but I had to. I know she wants to dine with him and probably knock some sense into his head," Theresa laughs. "And you think he's going to
HAZEL'S POV; "You can run away, Hazel. Leave this pack, find somewhere to live with your brother. You don't have to be with a man who treats you like crap and only keeps you because you are of use to him," "I was forced to marry him, Theresa. You won't understand." I bow my head in shame. I've not cried since today but I am doing that right now. Tears begin to slip down my eyes and no matter how I try to hold back, it's basically useless. Theresa takes a seat directly beside me and wraps a comforting arm around me. "I'm sorry, Hazel. It's just the truth. I hate that a good person like you had to go through this. It's not fair. You don't deserve it and yet, you keep being treated like a piece of crap. You're such a wonderful person and you deserve more. And I am also sorry that you can not leave no matter how you try to. Must be testing." I nod and take the handkerchief she hands over to me. I wipe my tears before blowing my nose. "Thank you, Theresa. You've been wond
HAZEL'S POV: Throughout the ride, I am silent. I mean, is there any reason for me to speak when I am seated directly behind a man who doesn't even acknowledge me? Moments ago, he had pushed me against the car door and that had to be the most embarrassing thing ever as he had done it before our driver. I'm sure rumors about me being maltreated would start to spread but trust Onyx to fish out the culprit and do something about it. According to the guard who had come to inform me of the development, I was told that there would be a meeting at the pack this afternoon, after which there would be a dinner party. I'm not ready for it. I never was or never would be. But somehow, I was able to find a modest dress. I'm sure it's not even going to top the dresses I'd be seeing today but I don't care. I don't care about my reputation. Onyx would suffer for this. I can already imagine these women peeking at my dress and laughing at how basic it is. All fault would go to Onyx
CHAPTER 133 HAZEL'S POV; "Don't you look breathtaking tonight, honey?" Queen Arya squealed as I took the steps down. The room was filled with guests and everyone seemed to be merry. I was taken back to this morning and how the execution bad been carried out. The people had gathered around the front of the palace, all waiting as the offenders stood in a line. Selah and her parents were banished and the maid who had helped in executing the poisoning had been executed and I thought that was quite unfair. I'd have loved to see Selah hanging off a rope as she gagged for the last of her breath. But banishing them was worse than executing them. Whenever anyone was banished, it was taken to the Lycan Confederate and they would be stamped unwanted by any Packs around and always hunted down by wolf hunters so I understood why Onyx had let them live to suffer. The guard who had also agreed to the fact that we were having an affair was executed for lying agai

CHAPTER 132 ONYX'S POV; There was a lot I had to do. But first, I needed to be alone. After welcoming my parents and speaking to Cherry, I turned and walked back into my study. Theresa followed behind me. I knew she had something to tell me. Once I was in the confines of my study, I turned to look at her. "You've got something to tell me?" Theresa nodded and went ahead to pull out a seat. She took a seat and stared at me. "I'd rather you took your seat," Nodding, I pulled out a seat. "I hope you're not here to tell me something that'll make me worry? I think I've had enough drama for today," "It's not a lot that I want to say, Onyx. I just want to tell you that I am really happy you're coming to terms with everything changing," I leaned back against my chair and stroked my chin. "Theresa, I am really overwhelmed. All these time, I have been pushing the people that care about me away. I feel so terrible right now to be very honest. It feels like a
CHAPTER 131 HAZEL'S POV; I spent the next few minutes staring down at my hands. I felt stronger than ever. Smiling, I let my claws jut out before letting it go back in. Squealing in delight, I fell back flat on the bed and smiled. A knock sounded on the door. I sat up immediately and stood to my feet. Twisting the knob, the door opened. Onyx stood there. I was taken aback but I let him in anyway. He looked really dull and like he needed a hug but I stepped back and maintained my position, my hand behind my back. "You're well, aren't you?" He asked when he stopped in the middle of the room and looked around. "Yes, I am," I replied with a nod. He said nothing for the next few moments. He busied himself with checking the window to be sure the locks were intact. I stood there, watching him with slight surprise. Why was he doing all these? "What's going on?" I finally asked. He turned to look at me. "I want to be sure the locks are intact
CHAPTER 130 ONYX'S POV; I drove into the palace, shaking with anger. Seeing Hazel had released something in me. All the pent up anger and hatred had come flowing out of my whole being and I didn't want to see her close to me at all. Once I parked my car, I pushed the door open and shut it with a thud. I walked straight into the palace. The Priest stood in the middle of the great room. A lady dressed in a cloak stood behind him, her head bowed low. I stopped before him. "It's a surprise to see you here after such a long time. I hope you have come with great news concerning the recovery of my parents?" He looked at me with obvious displeasure and took a step towards him. "That is not why I have come here, Alpha Onyx," "Is something wrong?" "Terribly. And for the fact that you have been aware and hiding it. It's terrible," . "What are you talking about?" "Have you forgotten? It's so funny how you tend to forget things because you force yourself t
CHAPTER 129 HAZEL'S POV; It felt beautiful to be running with so much speed past trees and vegetation. I moved with the breeze, feeling free. I had shifted and I revelled in the strength it came with. It's speed and great hearing ability. So this was how it felt to be a wolf? This was how amazing it felt to have a wolf. I thought back to my brother and how he was going to be so shocked and filled with excitement as he shifted. And that made me change my course. I had been running towards the blood river which was the southern part of this lake but I made a side turn, going southwest. I ran for such a long time, going only through the forest as I knew it led to the back of our cottage. While I was eager to go through the front door, I knew I had to go. Through the back. There was a possibility that it had already been found out that I wasn't in my room. I mean, it was midday already and Theresa would be worried. At least, I hadn't informed her. Still, I h
CHAPTER 128 ONYX'S POV; I had no idea where to start from. Today was going to be hectic but I didn't care. I needed to find her and the first place I went to was her home. No one was home. The gates were latched and locked but the fence was short so I jumped over it. There was a possibility that Hazel had locked it to keep anyone off, just like the way she had made a false body in her bed. As I walked towards the porch of the cottage, I felt a wave of nervous feeling wash over me. She better be there or I was going to lose my shit. On getting to the door, I twisted the door knob but it was locked. I tried a few more times before realizing that she was indeed not at him. Maybe she locked herself in? I knew keeping keys outside was one common thing so I lifted the floor mat. There was no key there. I looked around then I find a vase standing at the other side. I walked to it and looked around but there was no key. Parting the leaves of the plant
CHAPTER 127 ONYX'S POV; "Where's my wife?!" I thundered as I walked through the corridor. The maids stood there, watching with fear. I had gone to Hazel's room to check on her but her door was locked. I knocked several times but no answer came. I knew she couldn't ignore me for that long even if she was mad at me or hated me. Something was wrong. I asked one of the guards to climb up her window and look in only for him to find out that she was not in bed but an array of pillows covered with her duvet to make it look like she was asleep. Once it was reported to me that she wasn't in her room, I went into a full blown panic and asked all my guards to search for her. I was so afraid. A lot of things ran through my head. What if she had been kidnapped by Selah a second time? I knew they were capable of doing that. Or maybe she had run away. But with who? Earl? I sent one of my guards to check if she was with Earl but he returned with negative news and
CHAPTER 126 HAZEL'S POV; The next morning, I woke up as early as five and put on a dress and a cloak around my body to conceal me from being seen. I would have told Theresa about my movements but she has done something to really annoy me yesterday. Telling her would have put more risk to this as I didn't trust her so much. Before going to bed last night, I had planned on how my movement was going to be, taking notes of routes to go through and how I was going to return. She walked to the window and looked out. There were guards stationed at different points but she wasn't going to go through the palace gates. She went back to her bed and picked two pillows and arranged it on the bed to look like someone was sleeping on it. Then she raised the duvet and placed it over the pillows. As soon as she was done, she picked the keys to her room. She was going to lock it. The maid would find the door locked and think I am asleep and it would only be a matter of
