ONYX'S POV;

I watched as they all fought over which box of chocolates to have.

"I remember telling you all that peach is my favorite color, why won't you let me have it?!" Olive, whom I thought used to be quiet said as she gave Ren a stink eye.

Kiara was holding the sage green box with gilded edges in her hand. She was more focused on the design of the box than the argument her friends were having. As for Zion, he was busy munching on the chocolate in the baby blue box while the red box remained untouched.

"Let me have it!"

Ren scowled at her. "You never stop, do you?"

"Of course, I don't!" Olive said.

"It's just a box of chocolates. It's the content that matters!" Ren explained with a huff as she toyed at the seal of the box.

Olive was shaking with anger and her eyes followed Ren's finger movements. "Don't tear it open! It's not going to be funny if you do!"

Ren looked at her and laughed. "You're the funny one here,"

CHAPTER 90 HAZEL'S POV; I had spent most of my day with Theresa. We filled each other in on what had happened on the night when I got kidnapped and we talked about random things before we decided that it was time for us to part ways. "What are you going to be doing when I'm gone?" Theresa asked as she stood up from the stone chair in the garden, staring down at me. I shrugged. "I'd probably just stay here for a while before going back to my room," "I just realized how boring this must be for you. Having to be in this palace for weeks without seeing outside the gates," "The only time I got to see outside the gates was when I got kidnapped and I didn't even see it fully." "Must be really suffocating for you," "Somehow, I've gotten used to it," "We're going to go outside the gates one of these days. I'll show you around the palace and its environs. Have you seen the perimeter?" I shook my head, feeling like I have missed out a lot. "Onyx wouldn't

91 HAZEL'S POV; Zion took my hands, ignoring my friends as they tried not to look like they were hiding something from me. He led me to the window and we both took a seat by the sill. I was confused and agitated, wondering why they had come here in the first place. Before he could speak, I spoke. "How were you all able to come into this place? Don't tell me that you sneaked into this place somehow?" He shook his head. "We didn't. Onyx drove us here," My eyes widened in shock. "Are you being serious right now?" He nodded. "That's what I want to talk to you about." "Did you all do something wrong? I know Onyx. He'd make you all see me for the last time before doing as he pleases," "Listen to me, Hazel!" Zion commanded in a firm tone and I just nodded. "I am all ears," "Good," He nodded. "Onyx came to visit us and honestly, I was afraid. I even tried running away from him but he was able to explain his reasons for visiting," "And what was his

CHAPTER 92 ONYX'S POV; I had walked out of the room in anger and embarrassment. I was angry at myself. I was this close to getting on her good side when I mentioned that she had no wolf. I knew that it had triggered something in her and it was all my fault. If I was careful with my words, things wouldn't have escalated. She wouldn't have gotten mad at me. I didn't think I was going to forget the look of surprise mapped on her friends' and brother's face when they saw me stepping out of the room, fuming. Zion had stepped forward to ask me what was wrong but I had rudely spoken to him, shocking him the more. I went straight into my chambers and shut the door behind me before walking into the room and grabbing a mug of half finished brandy. I gulped it down and stared hard at the mug in my hand, the need to smash something, overcoming me. I flung the mug to the other side of the room. It connected to the wall with a hard thud and crashed onto the ground, brea

CHAPTER 93 ONYX'S POV; I rarely visited the tavern. People from the royal family never really did and it was an unspoken rule. The tavern was strictly for peasants and royals. Going into the tavern was like stooping low to mingle with common people. But this evening, it didn't matter to me. I was tired of drinking alone and not getting drunk and the tavern was famous for selling drinks that could make the strongest of Lycans drunk to stupor. Though I hadn't believed the whole rumor, I believed that they could make a mixture of alcohol that could make any man beyond drunk. I walked towards my car and pulled it open. It was almost nine but it didn't matter. The tavern thrived more at midnight and I was ready to drink till I could no longer move my feet. Once I was settled into my car, I inserted the key into the ignition module and ignited the car. It roared smoothly before dying into a satisfying purring sound. I drove out through the palace gates, driving to

CHAPTER 94 HAZEL'S POV; After Onyx left, I had trouble sleeping. I threw back the covers and sat up, my face filled with worry. Onyx had come to apologize and I had no idea if he meant it or not. What put me off the most was how he somehow expected me to forgive him immediately for all the wrong he had been doing to me. Six months. Six good months was what I had spent here and it had all begun in misery, ended in misery. I remembered the first time I stepped foot into the palace. He had been so rude to me that I had hidden in the corner crying before his mother, the Queen had found me and comforted me. She had been the first person to be nice to me before her husband, the old King. I remembered how he had asked for me to be placed in a separate room, ignoring his parents instructions and pleas. I had watched his ex-girlfriend, Selah waltz in and out of this place like she owned the place. I had walked in on them kissing and one chilly afternoon, Onyx had ask

It was something I had nursed for a long time and now that I could feel it coming off me in torrents, I was afraid. For how long have I been nursing this feeling? He pulled away slightly to look at me. "Hey, stop thinking about anything," I stared down at him and nodded. "Alright, Onyx," He pulled me back into him and sat up. I slid into his thighs and it felt like he was out of his drunken state. He kissed me deeply, his arms wrapping around my back and pushing me into him. I welcomed the desire with fervency, kissing him with all I had in me. His lips had a tinge of strong alcohol and there was mint in his breath too. The combination made me light headed and I pushed myself into him the more. His lips left my mouth and peppered kisses down my chin, slow and stirring a strong desire from withi

CHAPTER 96 HAZEL'S POV; I woke up with a smile on my face. My eyes were still closed but I could feel the low heat of the saturated morning sun on my face. I knew I was in bed with Onyx. Last night had been magical and I hadn't expected the turnout of events. He had been so gentle with me, leading me on as we went till I reached my peak. I felt like a woman and I couldn't wait to tell Kiara, Ren and Olive what happened last night. Sighing in delight, I opened my eyes and when I turned to the other side of the bed, I realized it was empty. I frowned immediately. Where was Onyx? I didn't want to panic at first. He was probably in the bathroom. I threw back the covers and when I realized that I was naked, I threw it back over my body, gasping lightly. I laughed to myself. What was I hiding? It was just me here and besides, Onyx had seen me naked already. There was nothing to hide. I climbed out of the bed and as I put on my dress, I thought about

CHAPTER 97 HAZEL'S POV; Breakfast this morning had to be the most awkward I had ever experienced since I came here. Onyx was purposefully ignoring me and I could see it in the way he was either focused on his food or talking with Cherry. Hadn't he heard what Cherry had said about me? I had wished the ground had opened to swallow me up because how had it gotten to her so quickly? Though I was nervous, I knew I had to confront Onyx and ask him why he had gone ahead to tell everyone that we had sex. Wasn't he the one who had been smiling at me a few days ago and trying to talk to me? Hadn't he been the one who sent those flowers, chocolates and a handwritten note? Hadn't he been the one who had gone all the way to get my friends and brother a chocolate box so he could appease me? Where did all that go? How did things change? I had been carried away by the little show of affection and now it had been withdrawn. I was slowly starting to realize myself. It

Theresa followed behind me. I knew she had something to tell me. Once I was in the confines of my study, I turned to look at her. "You've got something to tell me?" Theresa nodded and went ahead to pull out a seat. She took a seat and stared at me. "I'd rather you took your seat," Nodding, I pulled out a seat. "I hope you're not here to tell me something that'll make me worry? I think I've had enough drama for today," "It's not a lot that I want to say, Onyx. I just want to tell you that I am really happy you're coming to terms with everything changing," I leaned back against my chair and stroked my chin. "Theresa, I am really overwhelmed. Squealing in delight, I fell back flat on the bed and smiled. A knock sounded on the door. I sat up immediately and stood to my feet. Twisting the knob, the door opened. Onyx stood there. I was taken aback but I let him in anyway. He looked really dull and like he needed a hug but I stepped back and maintained my position, my hand behind my back. "You're well, aren't you?" He asked when he stopped in the middle of the room and looked around. "Yes, I am," I replied with a nod. He said nothing for the next few moments. He busied himself with checking the window to be sure the locks were intact. I stood there, watching him with slight surprise. Why was he doing all these? "What's going on?" I finally asked. He turned to look at me. "I want to be sure the locks are intact

CHAPTER 130 ONYX'S POV; I drove into the palace, shaking with anger. Seeing Hazel had released something in me. All the pent up anger and hatred had come flowing out of my whole being and I didn't want to see her close to me at all. Once I parked my car, I pushed the door open and shut it with a thud. I walked straight into the palace. The Priest stood in the middle of the great room. A lady dressed in a cloak stood behind him, her head bowed low. I stopped before him. "It's a surprise to see you here after such a long time. I hope you have come with great news concerning the recovery of my parents?" He looked at me with obvious displeasure and took a step towards him. "That is not why I have come here, Alpha Onyx," "Is something wrong?" "Terribly. And for the fact that you have been aware and hiding it. It's terrible," . "What are you talking about?" "Have you forgotten? It's so funny how you tend to forget things because you force yourself t

CHAPTER 129 HAZEL'S POV; It felt beautiful to be running with so much speed past trees and vegetation. I moved with the breeze, feeling free. I had shifted and I revelled in the strength it came with. It's speed and great hearing ability. So this was how it felt to be a wolf? This was how amazing it felt to have a wolf. I thought back to my brother and how he was going to be so shocked and filled with excitement as he shifted. And that made me change my course. I had been running towards the blood river which was the southern part of this lake but I made a side turn, going southwest. I ran for such a long time, going only through the forest as I knew it led to the back of our cottage. While I was eager to go through the front door, I knew I had to go. Through the back. There was a possibility that it had already been found out that I wasn't in my room. I mean, it was midday already and Theresa would be worried. At least, I hadn't informed her. Still, I h

CHAPTER 128 ONYX'S POV; I had no idea where to start from. Today was going to be hectic but I didn't care. I needed to find her and the first place I went to was her home. No one was home. The gates were latched and locked but the fence was short so I jumped over it. There was a possibility that Hazel had locked it to keep anyone off, just like the way she had made a false body in her bed. As I walked towards the porch of the cottage, I felt a wave of nervous feeling wash over me. She better be there or I was going to lose my shit. On getting to the door, I twisted the door knob but it was locked. I tried a few more times before realizing that she was indeed not at him. Maybe she locked herself in? I knew keeping keys outside was one common thing so I lifted the floor mat. There was no key there. I looked around then I find a vase standing at the other side. I walked to it and looked around but there was no key. Parting the leaves of the plant

CHAPTER 127 ONYX'S POV; "Where's my wife?!" I thundered as I walked through the corridor. The maids stood there, watching with fear. I had gone to Hazel's room to check on her but her door was locked. I knocked several times but no answer came. I knew she couldn't ignore me for that long even if she was mad at me or hated me. Something was wrong. I asked one of the guards to climb up her window and look in only for him to find out that she was not in bed but an array of pillows covered with her duvet to make it look like she was asleep. Once it was reported to me that she wasn't in her room, I went into a full blown panic and asked all my guards to search for her. I was so afraid. A lot of things ran through my head. What if she had been kidnapped by Selah a second time? I knew they were capable of doing that. Or maybe she had run away. But with who? Earl? I sent one of my guards to check if she was with Earl but he returned with negative news and

I would have told Theresa about my movements but she has done something to really annoy me yesterday. Telling her would have put more risk to this as I didn't trust her so much. Before going to bed last night, I had planned on how my movement was going to be, taking notes of routes to go through and how I was going to return. She walked to the window and looked out. There were guards stationed at different points but she wasn't going to go through the palace gates. She went back to her bed and picked two pillows and arranged it on the bed to look like someone was sleeping on it. Then she raised the duvet and placed it over the pillows. As soon as she was done, she picked the keys to her room. She was going to lock it. The maid would find the door locked and think I am asleep and it would only be a matter of
