CHAPTER 93 ONYX'S POV; I rarely visited the tavern. People from the royal family never really did and it was an unspoken rule. The tavern was strictly for peasants and royals. Going into the tavern was like stooping low to mingle with common people. But this evening, it didn't matter to me. I was tired of drinking alone and not getting drunk and the tavern was famous for selling drinks that could make the strongest of Lycans drunk to stupor. Though I hadn't believed the whole rumor, I believed that they could make a mixture of alcohol that could make any man beyond drunk. I walked towards my car and pulled it open. It was almost nine but it didn't matter. The tavern thrived more at midnight and I was ready to drink till I could no longer move my feet. Once I was settled into my car, I inserted the key into the ignition module and ignited the car. It roared smoothly before dying into a satisfying purring sound. I drove out through the palace gates, driving to
CHAPTER 94 HAZEL'S POV; After Onyx left, I had trouble sleeping. I threw back the covers and sat up, my face filled with worry. Onyx had come to apologize and I had no idea if he meant it or not. What put me off the most was how he somehow expected me to forgive him immediately for all the wrong he had been doing to me. Six months. Six good months was what I had spent here and it had all begun in misery, ended in misery. I remembered the first time I stepped foot into the palace. He had been so rude to me that I had hidden in the corner crying before his mother, the Queen had found me and comforted me. She had been the first person to be nice to me before her husband, the old King. I remembered how he had asked for me to be placed in a separate room, ignoring his parents instructions and pleas. I had watched his ex-girlfriend, Selah waltz in and out of this place like she owned the place. I had walked in on them kissing and one chilly afternoon, Onyx had ask
CHAPTER 95 HAZEL'S POV; It was soft and slow at first— inviting. I melted into his arms and that was when I realized that I was crazily attracted to him. It was something I had nursed for a long time and now that I could feel it coming off me in torrents, I was afraid. For how long have I been nursing this feeling? He pulled away slightly to look at me. "Hey, stop thinking about anything," I stared down at him and nodded. "Alright, Onyx," He pulled me back into him and sat up. I slid into his thighs and it felt like he was out of his drunken state. He kissed me deeply, his arms wrapping around my back and pushing me into him. I welcomed the desire with fervency, kissing him with all I had in me. His lips had a tinge of strong alcohol and there was mint in his breath too. The combination made me light headed and I pushed myself into him the more. His lips left my mouth and peppered kisses down my chin, slow and stirring a strong desire from withi
CHAPTER 96 HAZEL'S POV; I woke up with a smile on my face. My eyes were still closed but I could feel the low heat of the saturated morning sun on my face. I knew I was in bed with Onyx. Last night had been magical and I hadn't expected the turnout of events. He had been so gentle with me, leading me on as we went till I reached my peak. I felt like a woman and I couldn't wait to tell Kiara, Ren and Olive what happened last night. Sighing in delight, I opened my eyes and when I turned to the other side of the bed, I realized it was empty. I frowned immediately. Where was Onyx? I didn't want to panic at first. He was probably in the bathroom. I threw back the covers and when I realized that I was naked, I threw it back over my body, gasping lightly. I laughed to myself. What was I hiding? It was just me here and besides, Onyx had seen me naked already. There was nothing to hide. I climbed out of the bed and as I put on my dress, I thought about
CHAPTER 97 HAZEL'S POV; Breakfast this morning had to be the most awkward I had ever experienced since I came here. Onyx was purposefully ignoring me and I could see it in the way he was either focused on his food or talking with Cherry. Hadn't he heard what Cherry had said about me? I had wished the ground had opened to swallow me up because how had it gotten to her so quickly? Though I was nervous, I knew I had to confront Onyx and ask him why he had gone ahead to tell everyone that we had sex. Wasn't he the one who had been smiling at me a few days ago and trying to talk to me? Hadn't he been the one who sent those flowers, chocolates and a handwritten note? Hadn't he been the one who had gone all the way to get my friends and brother a chocolate box so he could appease me? Where did all that go? How did things change? I had been carried away by the little show of affection and now it had been withdrawn. I was slowly starting to realize myself. It
CHAPTER 98 SELAH'S POV; The week had passed in a blur. From having to get used to the fact that somehow, my father was involved in all these to having to watch them both get all lovey dovey with each other. It was so strange. My mother had left my father a long time ago and he just accepted her with open arms. I didn't think I was going to do that even with someone I really loved. But it was a good thing that there was peace in our home. Onyx hadn't visited since the kidnap and my nightmares were starting to get fewer, dropping to only a few days. Today was a Saturday and both my parents were busy outside. I climbed down the stairs and went straight to the living room. It had already been cleaned up and I wasn't surprised because my father usually did that on weekends. I was hungry so I decided to go to the kitchen and as I walked past the coffee table where my father usually dropped his cup of coffee and his daily bulletin, my eyes caught the hea
CHAPTER 99 ONYX'S POV; At least, things were starting to get better. Hazel and I had settled things and maybe we could carry on from there. She remained in my arms the whole afternoon and we talked about a lot and nothing. I felt that squeeze in my heart and my wolf was starting to come alive. I had ignored her the whole time, forgetting how amazing she could be. I didn't even think she had an atom of amazingness in her. I didn't know she was this learned and intelligent. "When did you start reading?" "My father taught me to read when he was sick," She replied slowly. "I couldn't read at the age of eleven but he taught me to and for a year, I learnt how to read before finally reading on my own and on my twelfth birthday, I woke up to a dead father. Imagine getting a dead body for a birthday gift," Shit. Hazel had gone through a lot. She really had. I couldn't imagine taking care of myself and Cherry at the age of twelve or starting to hunt animals fo
CHAPTER 100 HAZEL'S POV; The day passed by in a blur. I spent most of my day in my room, thinking about the events that had started happening previously, absolutely confused on what to do. Later in the evening, when it was time for dinner, I had asked one of the maids to serve me in my room and she did so. As she placed the tray on my bedside table, I stopped and frowned a bit, staring at her in curiosity. "What's your name?" "Hattie." She replied, finding it hard to maintain eye contact with me but I wasn't fazed. It was common amongst maids. I always wondered why they were always afraid to look in the eyes of people. "Hattie," I said and sat up. I had been seeing her several times since last week. She had been the one to clean up the blood stained sheets this morning, and was the one to attend to all errands which was quite unusual. Different maids came at different times to attend to different errands and for the past few days, she had been the o
