I’m angry.
Furious, even.
Tyler is staring back at me with a wild expression and a gaping mouth. “Evelyn? -“
“It’s Eve.” I snapped and pushed past him into the house. Just like I remembered, I made my way to Xavier’s room and set my suitcases aside.
The room was clean, thankfully, and it smelled like coffee and peppermint. It smelled like Xavier.
I felt like taking a soak, so I stripped, grabbed my towel and pj’s, then entered the bathroom with my scented soap.
Halfway through my bath, I heard the door open and close, I knew it was Xavier from the smell, so I wasn’t bothered. I lay in there, thinking about how messed up my life had become. I had to come back to the same people that tortured me. I already knew that Elena and Ajax would come back and try to paw off more information from me; about my powers, and my ‘parents’. A knock on the bathroom door told me that Xavier wanted to use the bathroom, and looking at the wall clock, I realized I’d spent three hours in there.
My body never pruned, thankfully. I dried my body and put on my pajamas top and shorts. Xavier nearly fell on top of me when I opened the bathroom.
“Oh, good you’re okay.” He sighed in relief.
“Why wouldn’t I be?” I asked, moving past him to hang the towel.
“I just thought that…”
“What?” I turned to faced him properly.
“Never mind.” He shook his head with a small smile. “You going to bed now?”
“Nope.” I said, then opened the door to go downstairs. He followed me.
“So, what are you going to do now?” He asked.
I turned around to look at him. “What exactly do you want, Xavier?” I’m not going to run away again.”
His face fell. “Yeah… sorry. I’ll go to bed now. Just call me if you need anything.”
“I won’t, but yeah.” And I turned around and walked down the rest of the stairs. His house was a lot better than the pack house, as expected. What I didn’t expect, was to find a super cute guy doing the dishes. He was facing the sink, but I could see his brown hair. He was about 6’2.
Why is he doing the dishes?
I walked into the kitchen and sat on the counter. He didn’t notice me for a while, so I enjoyed watching him work. He turned around to get something and almost screamed when he saw me.
“Hiya.” I smiled.
“Um… hey.” He lowered his gaze and looked at the floor. Hm. Cute. “Do you need something?”
“Are you on the menu?” I teased. His ears turned a deep shade of pink, and he cleared his throat.
“You really shouldn’t be talking to me. Alpha will get angry.”
I scoffed. “Oh please, Xavier can’ t do anything to me.”
He’s quiet for a while, then he sharply lifts his head, his eyes wide. “You- Are you our Luna? Alpha’s mate?”
“Ugh” I rolled my eyes. “What gave it away.” I leaned into him a bit to see his eyes properly. They were a really good shade of purple. Wait… purple.
He was a multi-hybrid.
He quickly dropped to his knee and apologized. “Do forgive me for my disrespect, Luna.”
“Disrespect?” I laughed a bit. “Please, talking to you is the most fun I’ve had in had in a while.”
He was quiet for a while, then he got up. “Thank you, Luna.”
“You can call me Eve.”
“No, my Luna-“
“Please?” I pouted, looking at him. “Pretty please?” I batted my eyelashes. He nodded, then continued with the dishes. I figured he probably wasn’t going to talk to me unless I did, so I started a conversation. “So do you like ice-cream?”
He nodded.
“My favorite is chocolate. What’s yours?”
“Vanilla.” He murmured, turning to me. “With chocolate syrup.”
“Too plain.” I dramatically sighed. “You, obviously aren’t, though.” I winked at him.
“So this is why you didn’t come upstairs?” Xavier’s voice came. His black hair was wet and dripping, with his sweatpants hanging low. “Really, Blake? You know better than to disobey orders.”
“Orders?” I laughed, edging him on. What orders?”
“My orders.” He said sternly. His eyes were blazing. Come on, Xavier. Give me that anger I know is there.
“That’s it.” He practically growled. He gripped my arm and pulled me off the counter, then started walking upstairs.
“Ow, Xavier! You’re hurting me!” I yelled. He let go of my arm like it was made of fire.
“Crap! Are you okay?” He stopped to look at it.
“Yeah, I just wanted to say bye to Blake… Bye Blake!” I waved with a smile. If I thought Xavier was worked up before, now he was furious. And I liked that.
“You crazy…” He lifted me over his shoulder and took me up the stairs and into the room. “What exactly is your problem?! I’m doing my best to make this work but you-“
“Blah blah blah” I smiled cheekily.
“Seriously, Eve-“
“Blah blah blah”
“Eve-“
“Blah blah bl-“
His lips crashed unto mine, making me squeal. For some weird reason, I felt like I was on cloud nine. It was like everything was supercharged and buzzing. My toes tingled, and he pressed me against the wall, making me gasp a bit.
“Is this what you wanted? Me to get angry with you?” He mumbled against my lips.
“Mhm.” I chuckled, then pulled back a bit. “Not exactly.”
“You like getting me mad, why? Are you trying to get my attention?”
I chuckled a bit. “No, I’m trying to get off.” He stopped everything and looked at me with hurt. I leaned in to whisper in his ear. “And you just happen to be available.” I looked at his lips, then his eyes. “As soon as you aren’t… Jake seems really cute, don’t you think?” I winked at him, then walk to the bed. He turns around to face me.
“You wouldn’t dare.” He growled.
I closed my eyes and sighed dramatically. “I can just imagine him on-“
Xavier shook his head and moved to turn off the lights, cutting me off. “But the story was just getting good.” I whined playfully.
It was all fun and games, but the real games we just about to begin.
BOOM!A loud noise woke me from my sleep. Xavier was already up and slipping on a shirt.“Eve, stay in here. I mean it. Don’t come out.” Mindlessly, I nodded. I watched him rush out sof the room, and the thumping of boots.Yells and shouts erupted, and they only got louder each second. I could hear guns going off, and the Photia pack cry made the walls vibrate. We were at war.Not the first time I was disobeying Xavier, and it definitely wouldn’t be the last. I jumped out of bed and slipped on a pair of slippers, grabbing the door. I twisted, turned, pushed and pulled, but the door didn’t budge. The idiot locked the door! The windows were locked too, there was no way out. How am I going to get out? My breathing became heavy as anxiety made it’s way up my throat.Red.All I could see was red.My eyes closed for a short second, but when I opened them again, I was st
…Xavier…Damn it, this crazy girl. I warned her. I told her exactly, don’t come outside. But does Eve listen? No, she doesn’t she never does. And now I’m just going to have to make her listen. No matter how hard it’ll be.I took her to the pack doctor, and he mumbled something about her body needing to revive itself. Well, it’s been two days, and she’s still not awake. I’d been at the hospital throughout the time, and I noticed she’d been mumbling stuff I couldn’t quite make out.“…dark, dark dark…” She’d say, then go quiet again. Little did I know, it was the start of something dangerous.***A few days after, Eve woke up. Something was off though; her eyes weren’t their usual color. They were a lot darker. The doctor examined her and noted it, but felt it was because they were closed for quite a while. I di
XavierBlake’s body was taken out of the house quickly after, and burial arrangements were made. Later that night, I trudged up the stairs and entered my room to see Eve with tears in her eyes, and a few leaking onto her cheeks. She lifted her head up to look at me. “He’s dead, isn’t he?” She whispered. She was sitting on the bed and hugging her knees. “I saw the… the stretcher and they-” Her breathing caught in her throat, and she wheezed, crying. For a few moments, I simply stood at the door of the darkroom, watching her. Then my feet moved on their own accord, and I put my arms around her and wrapped her in a hug. She wrapped her hands around my neck and cried into my shirt.“He wasn’t supposed to die.” She mumbled. “He wasn’t supposed to-“Thinking about it, I remembered that she didn’t know him for that long. But then she spoke again. “I r
Xavier After Elder Markus left, I waited for Eve in the living room, and Sebastian, my best friend, walked in. “Hey.” He nodded to me, and we shook hands. We hadn’t really been able to talk much since Eve arrived because I told him I needed to have some time with her first. That, he understood. His mate, Selena died a couple of months before, and he was trying to get used to the single life again. “How are you holding up?” I asked him, looking at the dark circles that colored his eyes. “Meh.” He shrugged, sitting down on the opposite couch. “How’s Evelyn?” “Don’t call her that.” I quickly said. He looked at me with confusion. “Her name’s Eve.” “Well okay.” He chuckled. “Her name’s only used in some kinky stuff?” He wiggled his eyebrows. “No-“ “Well, not unless you’re using it on me.” Eve’s voice came. She materialized in a black crop top, a mini skirt and thigh high boot
CHAPTER THIRTEEN At the movies, Eve had a smile on her face throughout. She looked like a kid in a candy store. After I paid for the popcorn, drinks and tickets, we walked into the almost empty theatre. During the movie, she was as quiet as a mouse. At the littlest movement, she would snap her eyes to me and hush me, with her nose scrunched up. It was adorable. At the part where the main character cut off a guy’s head, my arms were wide open for her to jump in, but I found out that I was the one screeching like a girl. She laughed at me for a full two minutes, and tears leaked from her eyes. Annoying thing was, whenever the laughter died down, she’d look at me then burst into laughter again. When the screen credits rolled out, we left the theatre and headed home. Eve had a small frown on her face. “Why the frown?” I asked, looking at her through the mirror. She shook her head. “Nothing much, my fingers hurt for
Xavier… I shot up from my chair, my heart thumping hard. No, no no. “I’ll call you back, mom.” I rushed out, ending the call. Thalia can’t be dead… right? Elena was practically vibrating, so I walked over to her slowly. “Calm down, Elena.” I said, trying to soothe her. “Take me to her room.” She nodded quickly, like a mad woman, then grabbed my arm. I let myself be dragged by her because I understood that she probably couldn’t be thinking of being respectful when her best friend was just found dead. As we made our way through the corridor, solemn faces materialized all around me. The closer we got to the purple, floral painted room I spent my lonely night in, the more realistic it all felt. Thalia couldn’t be dead. I tried to pretend that Blake wasn’t brutally murdered or cursed, but now that Thalia was gone to… Pretending was getting a lot harder. It smelled like death and despair. It was like
Eve… After the movie with Xavier, I felt a lot more…. Connected. Like on a cellular DNA level, it felt like he was bonded to me and my soul and my- Oh crap, do you actually believe all this shit? LOL. The day Xavier had told me that only he could restore my powers, and he refused to, I knew that I was right about the pack. I knew that every single person in the Photia pack was selfish and ungrateful. I could feel myself getting stronger, but I knew that I had to make him give me back my powers. Skylar, being the more rational person of both of us, explained to me that it would be better for me to play nice with Xavier while looking for a way to get my powers back. I walked into the room and almost screamed at the pain in my fingers. Why was it hurting so much? It felt like it was constantly being bashed against by a hammer. Shaking it off, I changed into one of Andre’s hoodies and quickly looked for the library
. “How do you spot a polyhybrid?” I asked. It would be a lot smarter for me to keep my status hidden, if they were so rare. “No one really knows. But they know. They usually get told by the Moon Goddess herself.” “Mhmm.” I narrowed my eyes. “So what’s the prophesy about?” “Oh!” She squealed. “I memorized it ‘Out of the fire shall come a child, fiercer than lions and untamed and wild. Betrayal and lies will fill its early years, but with a stranger, it will overcome its fears. A choice between two will be made, a deception of love that will fade. Only with three kisses of a true mate on the place of a mark will restore the vanquished, but if not careful, with the darkness, the earth will vanish.’” She recited. “Could you write that down?” I requested. She nodded and pulled out a piece of paper from her pocket along with a pen, scribbling down the words. “Why are you so interested in poly hybrids anyway?” Then she leaned in with a misch
They knew they had to hide it. No one could ever know about the strange pull they felt towards each other. Not while they had no idea what it was. Eve felt energized. Like she'd been charged up for hours on end. The doctors, who had already been planning to declare her dead, were astonished. How on earth could someone so dead be so... alive?Eve returned to the pack house a few days later, with Xavier beside her, and Sebastian behind. Exactly the way it was supposed to be. It was late at night when they got back to Xavier's house, and as soon as she stepped in, a loud bang rang through. "Shit!" Eve cursed, as her heart started pounding. She was about to start channeling her magic when she heard 'SURPRISE!' and people started to gather round and give her hugs. Xavier looked down at Eve and tugged at her hand. "I'm going to go talk to the cheif for a while. Stay with Sebastian, kay?" She nodded with a small smile. Sebastian moved forward to stand beside her, trying to ignore the fo
Sebastian was running through a field of thorns. There weren’t even any roses—just those prickly little thorns piercing into his skin, drawing blood. He could hear a voice calling his name. Sebastian. His muscles worked harder to push further. To keep him going. Anything to get him to… to where? It was less of a field and more of a huge bush. Every move he made thickened the thorns, and they went deeper into his skin. Sebastian. He bit his lip hard, begging his eyes to stop burning with tears. He needed to get away. He needed to run- Alpha! He stopped dead in his tracks. No matter how much he begged his feet to move, they wouldn’t. Slowly, the field started clearing. The thorns started shrinking, till they started looking like…people. The longer he stood there frozen, the more defined the faces were becoming. He didn’t recognize any of the faces, until… Xavier! He could see Xavier’s face, and
For two weeks, Wicked Eve lay motionless on a bed. Her lips didn't move, her fingers didn't shift, and her eyes didn't twich. Not once.Sebastian had refused to leave her side since the moment she'd been brought into the hospital, and placed on the bed. His senses were heightened for some reason. He could hear her heart beating--ever so slowly, but it was beating. He could smell her. Lavender, jasmine and roses- three scents, yet none at the same time. His Alpha and Eve's mate, Xavier, had attempted to get him out of the room everyway possible. The Alpha tone hadn't even made the black haired man blink, as he sat in the uncomfortable plastic chair in the adjacent corner of the room. He was worried about the woman that laid still on the hospital bed, hooked up to so many wires that they all looked like a blur. Even though he was slightly annoyed at his best friend's persistence to stay with his mate. Xavier was also extremely grateful. Unlike Sebastian, he couldn
EVE I hated him. I hated myself. I hated Xavier. I hate EVERYONE. I wanted to leave, and I wanted to leave right then. My mind was made up. So I grabbed my suitcase from under the bed—Xavier’s bed—and started stuffing my stuff back in. I couldn’t take it anymore. Space. I needed space. From him, from the curse, from the madness. I needed to leave. As soon as my suitcase was packed, I slipped on a new hoodie. Call me chicken, but I didn’t like whatever was going on with Xavier and I. It was getting dark outside, so I figured I’d go back home for a while—no time to look for a hotel. I’d look for a place tomorrow. I rolled the suitcase down the stairs, but a wave of sweet, tasty chicken hit me hard, and I started salivating. No. No food. I hit my stomach as it grumbled, frowning. No food. Xavier and Sebastian looked up at me. Confusion ran through both of their expressi
SEBASTIAN Something was going on. I could feel it deep in my bones, and it was all Evelyn’s fault. Just like with Sabrina, it was all Eve’s fault. My sweet, beautiful- Before I can get sucked deeper into a world of depressing thoughts and insanity, I shake my head to rid itself of the monsters that lurk deep in its shadows. I needed to be productive. I couldn’t let whatever I was feeling for that abomination get in the way of my healing- I just couldn’t. Even though the sparks were… like lighting little firecrackers all over my body. As soon as I smelled her, my whole nervous system went haywire. It was a hundred, no, a MILLION times more powerful than it was with Sabrina- but when she spoke to me… that seductive voice, the wicked gleam in her eyes, the teasing smile… I knew she wasn’t my Sabrina. Is it wrong that I was okay with that? I sat staring at the TV, thinking about my recent encounter with Eve. I noticed her h
