Miracle
It was time for the mating ball; I tried to keep myself calm and not think much about it. I grabbed the blush pink dress my mother had brought me for the mating ball. It was rare for me to get new clothes, and it surprised me she got me one. Then I found out that there were Alphas from neighboring packs visiting, and I realized it was just to keep face in front of the guests.
I sighed as I got a hold of the makeup Malia had given me to cover up my bruises. I didn’t even know much about using it, but I knew I had to make sure my bruises and wounds are hidden if I wanted to have some peace this evening. I got to work applying the makeup on my face and neck. I did pretty well in hiding them. The only bruises I wasn’t able to hide were the nasty burn in my hands.
‘You should let everyone see your bruises. It will at least save us from here.’ Mia said, I could feel her anger and hate towards our family.
‘You know, we probably won’t leave the house if we don’t hide them, and get punished for trying to ruin their reputation.’ I replied.
‘I know, I just wish we could have been able to do something, but I feel everything will be fine as soon as we find our mate.’ she said. I could clearly see the love and adoration in her dreamy eyes.
‘Hopefully,’ I replied quietly. I was excited for today, but equally nervous. I didn’t know what to expect in my life. I grabbed the little first aid kit I have and nursed my burns and bandaged them. The burns in my hands were terrible, and they hurt life hell.
I ignored the pain as I tried to do my hair the best I could by wrapping them in a bun. I grabbed the dress, pulled it on, and looked at myself in the mirror. I looked good after the nasty bruises on my body were hidden. However, my eyes still looked lifeless and broken. I don’t think there is anything that could cheer me up, not until I find my mate, anyway.
I sighed, ignoring the dull ache in my chest. It’s hard to not feel pain knowing your family hates you only because they think you are weak. I just hoped they would have given me a chance to prove myself. They would have stopped Malia from hurting me the way she did. I wished they would love and care for me like they did when I was a little girl.
“Miracle, we are getting late. Come down right now,” I heard my father’s loud voice breaking my train of thoughts. I sighed, quietly walking down the stairs. I hoped they would just let me be today.
My father looked at me from head to toe, frowning at the bandage on my hands, but nodded his head in approval.
“We are getting late,” he said in his cold voice, and I simply nodded my head. I walked out and got in the back with Malia. She looked beautiful in the dark blue dress she wore, her hair was left down, and she looked flawless with her makeup. I just wished she was as beautiful on the inside as she was outside.
“Stay away from me and don’t get yourself involved with anyone. Just grab a corner and stay there or help around with chores or something.” She said, looking at me with her eyes filled with hate. ‘Why does she hate me so much? I am her sister. What did I ever do to her?’ I thought in my head. My heart hurt with her brutal words, but I tried to not let them get to me.
“Do you understand?” She snapped and brought me out of my internal thoughts, and I quietly nodded my head.
“I don’t even know why we are taking this useless piece of shit with us.” She mumbled, but all of us clearly heard it.
“Malia,” our father warned. She rolled her eyes but kept quiet, and for once I was grateful to my father.
After a quick 15 mins ride, we reached the packhouse. I walked silently behind my father; I didn’t want to get into unnecessary trouble. We walked through the door, making our way to the back. The mating ball is arranged in the back as there are a lot of activities that are planned during the event.
I just wanted to stay away from the hustle bustle and find a quiet place. If I am lucky enough to find my mate today, then I will be able to leave our house. I hope my mate is someone who loves and protects me. I heard our current Alpha make their way to the stage, causing me to look at what was happening.
“Good evening pack members,” he started after clearing his throat to get our attention.
“We welcome you all to the annual mating ball. This ball is to ensure that all the unmated find their mates. Today, my son, your future Alpha Jake, is also taking part in this ball. I hope all of you find your mates and start the most important chapter of your lives.” He said, his loud voice echoed through the back garden.
“Like any other mating ball, we will have a lot of activities. One of them requires all of you unmated wolves to take part in a fight. It will help us determine your strength.” He added, making my eyes widen. No, this can’t be happening. Taking part in a competition like this would mean suicide. I know I don’t have the strength to fight, and I was never trained, so I don’t even know how to fight.
“Alpha, my sister can’t fight as you know she doesn’t have a wolf.” Malia interrupted. I could clearly hear the smirk in her voice as she said that. A round of whispers erupted around us, and soon some of them were making fun of me for not having a wolf.
“She is such a disgrace to the Beta family.” One of them said, and I closed my eyes in embarrassment.
“I know right, and she still has the audacity to come and attend the mating ball.” Another said.
“It looks like she doesn’t care. Such a disgrace. I would have abandoned her long ago if she was my daughter.” One of the older pack members said, if only they knew what I had to go through every day of my life.
“Silence,” our Alpha growled. He was clearly annoyed to have been reminded of the wolf-less weak daughter of the Beta in front of his guests.
“Miracle would not take part in any of the events. She is not a ranked member of the pack because of the unavailability of her wolf. Hence, she is already considered the weakest in the pack.” He announced. What is more embarrassing than having been declared the weakest for the pack members to make fun of you and bully you?
I tuned out everything else; I didn’t want to hear it anymore. I tried my absolute best to make sure I didn’t cry in front of these people, but a traitorous tear slipped down my eyes. I quickly wiped it away. I could clearly hear Malia and her friends making fun of me not having a wolf. How I wished I could tell them I have Mia, but I know if Malia realizes I have even a little contact with my wolf she will do something to hurt her. I didn’t want it. I just didn’t want to let her hurt Mia anymore than she already has.
“Everyone, please move to the training arena. The fight is about to get started.” The loud voice of the Alpha brought me back. I sighed and silently walked to the training arena. I found a corner and sat down. I didn’t want to mingle with the crowd. Not like they would want to mingle with, either.
I saw as the head warrior slowly got the fights started. I could see all male and female warriors of the pack taking part. They called everyone based on their ranks. They had to defeat the person and to go to the next level. I closely watched as everyone fought. Some were fast, while some were slow. Everyone had their own techniques they used to fight.
I saw a lot of members getting defeated and walking away disappointed. Malia was able to defeat all other female warriors and climb up the ladder. It was clear that she was going to emerge victorious. There weren’t many female participants left, anyway.
“Now joining the fight is our next in line Alpha Jake,” I heard the voice of the head warrior.
I don’t know why it caught my attention. I saw a man coming forward. He nodded at the head warrior and entered the circle for the fight. My heart fluttered at his sight. I wondered what was happening to me. I watched in awe as he swiftly defeated the other male participants quickly.
I was quite far from the crowd, but looking at his handsome face, I felt something. He was tall, maybe 6’ or so, with tanned skin and a muscled body. His blonde hair looked rather good on him and his green eyes felt as if they were sucking in my soul.
I scolded myself for swooning over our future Alpha; it was very inappropriate of me to think anything like that. He was going to find his mate soon, and I was going to find mine, too. Looking at his strength, I wished my mate was as strong as him so he could protect me from my sister.
I was pulled out of my thoughts when the Alpha announced the winners of the fight. Alpha Jake won the fight amongst the male wolves, while Malia won the one amongst the female wolves. It wasn’t long before everyone was celebrating; I witnessed a lot of wolves finding their mates, but I haven’t found mine yet. I walked out of the back garden to get away from the crowd for some fresh air with only one thing in mind, and that was to hopefully find my mate today.
MiracleAs soon as I entered the garden, I bumped into a wall. I was confused because I didn’t remember the garden having a wall before. It was an open space. I looked up to find a pair of cold blue eyes staring at me. This man that I bumped into had a pair of mesmerizing eyes that pulled me in their depths. He had a powerful aura surrounding him. I think he might be one of the guest alphas. The thought made my eyes widen in fear. I immediately took a step back, scared I would do something to offend our guests. He looked at me with what looked like confusion in his eyes?“I am sorry Alpha, I wasn’t looking where I was going,” I murmured, bowing my head in respect.“It’s alright, just be careful next time. It’s not good to be clumsy, you can hurt yourself.” He replied in his deep, crisp voice, making a shiver run down my spine. Did he really have to be so rude? I did say I was sorry, right? I thought, mentall
Miracle I woke up in a dark room. I blinked my eyes a couple of times to adjust to the darkness. I looked around to find myself in the room they gave me to sleep in the packhouse. I feel confused trying to recall what happened, and why I feel like a truck ran over my body. I mean, I know I was beaten and bruised, but at the moment, I felt worse than I have. I tried to get up in a sitting position on the bed, but I couldn’t move. I hissed in pain but will myself to move. Groaning, I sit up on the bed and as soon as I did the lights turned on making me close my eyes at the sudden brightness. “You finally decided to wake up?” I heard my father’s angry voice and my head in his direction in fear. “I—” I start, but stop short of words. I don’t know what to say. I didn’t even know what I did to get into trouble this time. I looked up to see both my parents glaring down at me. I try to recall what happened, but I can’t seem to remember anything. The o
Christopher We arrived at the Silver Crescent Pack, but for some reason, my wolf has been restless. I don’t know what it is, but I feel there is something terribly wrong. I tried to ignore it and focus on attending the Mating Ball. I don’t want to poke in their business unless they are doing something terrible. The Alpha welcomed us, who seem very nervous in my presence. I know, I have a strong aura and I try to suppress it as much as I can, but did he have to make it so obvious? He is an Alpha, and he lets others see his emotions. It is not a good sign for an Alpha. They immediately took us to the guest house. They had tried their best to make it comfortable for all their visitors, so I commend them for it. After a shower, I changed and made my way out to find my Beta waiting for me at the door. “Alpha, do you also feel it?” He asked, looking around. “Do you feel something?” I asked, not bothering to answer his question. “I feel somet
Miracle “NO!” I screamed, my heart still aching from the agonising pain of rejection. I know he didn’t use the words to reject me, but for some reason, it feels like he is rejecting me. “Why can’t you recognise me as your mate?” I asked, looking at him with tear-filled eyes. “I can smell my mate’s scent, and I know it’s not you,” he said, looking at me with his hate-filled eyes. I felt something break inside of me. “Please,” I pleaded pathetically, looking at him with hopeful eyes, “I swear I am your mate. She is not,” I added as tears rolled down my cheeks. “I am sure Malia has tricked you. She can’t be your mate, please, please trust me.” I begged for my mate to listen to me. “Why are you so hell bent on proving that I am trying to steal your mate?” Malia asked. For the first time, she looked pitiful, and I knew it was all an act. She was desperately trying to prove in front of everyone that I was trying to frame her. “How can you ev
Miracle I feel empty inside. I am completely broken. There is nothing left of me anymore. I knew I wouldn't come out of this alive. I know the punishment of trying to hurt a fellow pack mate. No one believed me before, then why would they believe me now? I won’t try to prove myself innocent anymore. There is nothing for me to live for. However, there is one thing that I know I want to do before I leave this world, and that was to prove I wasn’t lying about Jake being my mate. My thoughts were interrupted when I heard Mia whimper in my head. ‘I am sorry, Mia,’ I whispered. ‘I know you don’t deserve this, but you are stuck with a useless human like me. I hope the Goddess gives you a second life, and you get a partner you deserve.’ I continued. I was heartbroken because I couldn’t save her, no matter how much I tried. She was suffering with me, and will probably die with me too. ‘None of this is your fault, Miracle,’ she replied in a low whisper. ‘Don’t
Christopher Last night was uneventful. My wolf has been restless from the moment we arrived in this pack. I wanted nothing more than to return home, but I had business to take care of. If someone was using magic, it is dangerous not only for this pack but for the entire werewolf species. Toby was out to gather information. I knew it wouldn’t be long before he came back. I spent the morning training to keep myself occupied. It was after lunch when I returned to the guest house to find Toby anxiously pacing in my room. I frowned at the look of worry on his face. I walked in, closing the door behind me. He stood straight the moment he saw me enter. I sat on the couch, motioning for him to sit beside me. “Alpha, I have all the information you needed, and you will not like what I found out.” He said as soon as he sat on the chair beside me. I was about to ask him to spill it already, but the knock on the door stopped me. “Come in,” I called out. So
Christopher‘MATE!’ Trent screamed in my head, making my eyes widen in shock. I couldn’t stop the possessive growl that sounded from my chest as my mouth uttered the words “MINE!” making everyone gasp in shock.Miracle looked at me with wide eyes. It was clear she knew, and I wondered how he felt the mate bond with either of us when she had no wolf. What kind of twisted game was the Moon Goddess playing with us? Why would she give me another mate when she knows I can’t love her?“Impossible,” Alpha stone growled. His loud voice got my attention. “She can’t be your mate. My son never accepted her rejection.” He growled. I know he was trying to save face because his son was rejected in front of everyone for being dumb. I did not miss the way he was glaring at Miracle.“If you don’t remember Alpha Stone. We all heard that your son had rejected the bond with his mate even when he di
MiracleNever in life did I ever think I would have the courage to reject my mate the way I did. I rejected him in front of his pack and the other visiting Alphas, but what was even more was what happened next. A sweet, masculine scent hit me. It smelled of woods and rain.My eyes widened when I met the mesmerizing eyes that pulled me in. He was one of the visiting Alpha’s, and the way he growled “MINE!” a shiver went down my spine. Mia was howling in my head shouting ‘MATE’ as she ran in circles happily in my head.He looked confused and deep in thought until Alpha Stone had called for his attention. I felt sadness consume me when I didn’t see any emotion in my mate’s eye. Which Alpha would want a weak girl as his mate?‘Don’t worry, Miracle, I am sure our mate would love us,’ Mia whispered in my head.‘He doesn’t look happy,’ I replied, and she sighed sadly.&lsq
Miracle “Are you sure about that?” I jumped at the sweet voice that filled my ears and I turned to see who was intruding on my peace with Mia. In front of me stood a beautiful woman. I have seen no one as beautiful as her. She was a tall woman with a milky white skin. Her platinum blonde hair flew around her as she looked at me with a sweet, gentle smile on her face that enhanced her unique violet coloured eyes. “Are you sure you don’t want to talk about your mate?” The sound of her voice broke my trance, and I blinked my eyes, trying to focus. If I was really in heaven, then she must be an angel. “Yes, I don’t want to talk about him.” I mumbled, but I was sure she heard me. She walked towards me and patted my head, looking at me with the same smile on her face. “You don’t mean that, child.” She said, and I scoffed at her in response. It was creepy enough that she was listening in on our conversation, and now she wants to get
Miracle I could hear voices in the distance, but they seemed to be far away. My eyes felt heavy, like I have been sleeping for years, yet I felt exhausted. I tried to focus on the murmuring voices, but failed to make sense of anything. I wanted to open my eyes, but I couldn’t move my eyelids. I tried to force my eyes open, but I failed no matter how hard I tried. I sighed tiredly before forcing myself to open my eyes. After what seemed like forever, I could finally open my eyes, only to find myself surrounded by darkness. I blinked my eyes, trying to adjust my sight to the darkness. Slowly, my vision got used to the darkness, and I desperately tried to look around to find out where I was. I sat on the ground, trying to hear the voices from earlier. But all I got was silence. There were no more whispering voices that I had woken up to. I was confused. I didn’t know or understood what was happening anymore. Mia was silent when I called
Christopher “Who are they?” Esmeralda’s voice had a stern, angry edge as her eyes glowed green once again. I looked at her, confused at her sudden anger, alarmed. I knew then and there, something was terribly wrong. “What’s wrong?” I asked, almost instantly. “Who are they?” She asked again. “They are Miracle’s family.” I replied. Her body visibly relaxed as her eyes returned to their normal colour. She frowned, looking at them, still not saying anything as she observed them. “Can someone tell me what is happening?” My attention snapped to Miracle’s father, John. He looked older than his age, but something was off about them. My senses were on high alert. I sniffed the air, and almost immediately, a growl left my lips. Why the hell did they smell like rogues? “Toby?” I turned to look at my Beta. He knew what I wanted to know without even asking the question. He sighed, and I hated that I had tired him out. I made a mental note to give h
Christopher “I wasn’t talking about that ritual and spell. Someone cast another spell on her, and it was from years ago.” Esmeralda’s words shocked everyone in the room. What the hell is going on with Miracle? How much has she suffered over the years? “What do you mean?” I growled. She glared at me, rolling her eyes at my obvious anger. I was getting anxious with each passing second, and didn’t like the uneasy feeling. “Stop growling at me. You might be an Alpha, but I am not one of your pack members to bow down to you. I am only answerable to the council. I am here to help you, and you need to show me respect. If you can’t respect me just because you hate my kind, then I will take my leave.” Her eyes glowed a bright green as she spoke to me in a stern voice. “I might be a witch, but I am not one of them.” She spoke in an angry tone. I decided it was best for me to shut up. I didn't mean to growl at her. I was just upset with the fact that Miracle had
Christopher I have been waiting for what looks like hours, and there is no sign of any elder arriving with the healer. I was getting impatient. We did not have so much time to waste waiting for them. They knew how critical Miracle was, yet they were not taking things seriously. My mind kept playing the events of the day I found out Miracle was my second chance mate. The doctor's words echoed in my head. I wonder if everything that happened on that day was somehow related to what the doctor found out, but I wouldn’t know until the fucking healer arrives. ‘You are going to have to kill the healer for keeping us waiting.’ Trent growled in my head and I sighed audibly. ‘Don’t be reckless Trent, we need the healer to check and treat Miracle.’ I replied, trying to calm him down. ‘Trent, we don’t want Miracle to suffer anymore than what she has already been through. You need to stay calm.’ It was important for us to leave our Alpha ego aside and think calmly
Christopher I felt relieved when the doctor informed me that my blood helped them keep Miracle stable. However, it didn’t help her much with the healing process. It has been over a day and there is no sign of her waking up. The pack doctor ran a lot of tests to check what was happening with her. So far, he hasn’t been able to figure anything out. We are waiting for the latest test results, and the doctor said we might need to call for a healer. I had requested the council members to bring a healer. They were the only ones who could bring in a healer we could trust. Considering this was my mate, and Luna, the council was quick to accept my request. We were waiting for them to arrive. We are expecting their arrival today, but what has me worried is there was no update from Toby. I haven’t heard from him ever since he left yesterday. I was wondering what could possibly take him so long to just get Miracle’s family. Did they refuse to return with Toby? Th
Christopher I ran as fast as I could to get Miracle to the hospital. The more her pulse slowed, the faster I ran. I felt like I was losing her, and I was the one to blame. Maybe if I would have handled this situation well, then she would have been safe and sound at home. I was far away from the pack, and it took me a very long time to reach the pack hospital. The medical staff rushed to help me get Miracle in. The pack doctor barked orders and nurses scrambled around. Toby and Breena were both at the hospital waiting for me. “Alpha, this way,” the doctor said as he guided me down the hallway towards one of the VIP rooms. I didn’t wait for him to say anything else, and took her inside the first vacant room I found. She was barely breathing, and her bleeding hadn't stopped. It increased my worries as I gently placed her on the hospital bed. “Why is she not healing?” I asked in a panicked voice. I didn’t care about anything at the moment. I just
Christopher Toby was waiting for me when I reached the front door. He had already gathered our best warriors and trackers. I was glad to have him work rationally at the moment because my mind was a mess, and I don’t think I could do anything on my own at the moment. Trent was ready to go on a killing spree if we didn't find Miracle and it did nothing to ease my worry. “Alpha, we are waiting for your orders,” Toby said as he bowed his head respectfully. “She is gone. We have to find her.” I mumbled. I don’t know if I was making any sense. My brain was frozen, and it refused to think about anything other than finding her. “What? Who do we have t—” Toby stopped mid-sentence the moment he realized my words. He gasped in shock and surprise, but he was quick to mask it with a blank expression on his face. “Our Luna is missing. We have to find her.” He ordered, and I was grateful that he took over from here. “Beta Toby. We do not know Luna's
Christopher I have been restless the whole night. Trent demanded we go and check on Miracle, but I refused. He has been a pain to deal with ever since my last interaction with her. Making sure that I did not have a second of peace by continuously growling, howling, and whimpering in my head. I couldn’t help but recall the few interactions we had in the last few hours. When she agreed to come home with me, her words warmed my heart, and I hated the effect the mate bond had on me. From the conversation during our ride home, I determined she was very kind and forgiving. I was sure she would be the Luna my pack deserves. The only problem was, I didn’t want her as my mate, but sadly, I couldn’t reject her either. I don’t think Trent and I will be able to go through the pain of losing our mate again. It didn’t matter if it was through rejection or through death. I know it was wrong of me to only bring her home because I couldn’t reject or leave her to death
