A New Chapter

Amelia’s POV

“Oh! Really? Really? You think you can just come in here and do whatever you want, have you forgotten I’m the alpha and you have to listen to me? Amelia, get your butt out of here.” Damien spout angrily.

His voice beckons fury, I could feel the whole room tremble, Ethan could not do anything and I just stood still maintaining my order before things go wrong again.

Damien took a few steps close to me, in his bathrobe, looking so handsome, and with each step he took it was pleasing and enticing. I almost forgot his fierce words, and that stopped when he finally got to me.

“Didn’t you hear me? Get out and back to where you should be, and one more unnecessary act, I’m throwing you into a punishment that you will regret ever talking back at me.”

I shivered at his words, maybe I made a mistake trying to talk him into releasing me. He never will, I guess. I mean, I feel so stuck, I want to stay and I can’t even make my own choices around here. I feel so suffocated.

“You still standing? Move!” He yelled.

I jerked out of my thoughts and turned back slowly, walking out of him. I felt like Ethan should have done something, rather than standing there talking like nothing was going on. I’m so pissed.

I could hear Ethan mumble some words, but I just had to make my feet swift. I jammed the door and felt a drop of tear on my face. I cried my eyes out after locking the door behind. I just couldn’t imagine the feeling of staying out of my pack. I could just go back into my father’s loving arms but then, I was rejected in everyone’s presence.

I walked far away and thought to go pour out my tears, back in the dark room that I was placed. I heard footsteps swiftly coming towards me. I wanted to run when a hand caught me.

“You shouldn’t walk around and storming into the Alpha’s room that way, he has no patience and wouldn’t listen to anyone.” Her eyes looked so deceiving and I got uninterested in her words.

“And who are you” please leave.”

“I’m sorry, just wanted to help. My name’s Cassie” She stretched out her hand for a shake and I got even more disgusted, but wanted to be in my best behavior. I really do not want to be, but if I have to stay here, then I have to feel so perfectly irritatedly fine. If that’s even a word.

I took out my hands and returned the shake,

“Amelia” I said, with my eyes turned.

“Thanks, not everyone gets so interested in someone like me. Not even this pack”

“What do you mean someone like you?” I asked her trying to figure out what exactly was going on in the pack. If I could have a friend that loves talking, I might get along quickly with everything in the pack sooner.

“Well, I was a captive of a four years ago”

“Four years ago? I don’t get it.”

Cassie took my hands and we both walked through the passage, and went through silently.

“Were you taken as a captive?” Her voice wallowed in a bit of sorrow like she was feeling sorry for me.

“Your eyes are swollen too.”

In the absence of my response, she smiled and took my hands, looked straight into my eyes and whispered those soothing words,

“You’ll be fine, Amy.”

“It’s Amelia, Cass.”

“Oh! I’m sorry.” She gave a brief smile and I felt comfort for a while. We kept on walking with no fear, but she warned we have to be back in the room before sunset. Everyone gets checked, with the thoughts that someone might escape. The deal with this pack is not losing the respect and fear they’ve earned so far. Damien surely has created a wall of fear at the coming in of the pack, inside and all around, that’s why no one dares to trespass. Mine is definitely a nightmare.

Another young lady sighted us and ran towards us with smiles on her face.

“You guys are happy here, aren’t you?”

“At least we don’t get to see deaths everyday like before, but we’re expecting one soon.”

Cassie saw the frightening look on my face,

“Don’t worry, we’ll not be affected. The alpha gives us shelter ahead.”

“How many wars have you witnessed?”

“None actually, but we’ve heard stories.”

“Should we be walking around like this?”

“We do have time to talk, as long as we do not try to run away, no one gets punished.”

“Oh! quite nice.”

I mumbled beneath my voice with a refreshing figure.

“How much do you guys eat?”

“Three times daily, really healthy if you asked me.” I giggled at her words.

“Did you just laugh?”

No, I didn’t. “ I tried to cover up my amusement in her chat with me.

“I get it, you feel suffocated, right?”

“A little, and a bit disgusted with the way he yells.”

“Yet, you are the first person he didn’t kill nor punish for talking back.”

I looked at her in surprise,

“Yeah, you heard me. I heard you guys when I was passing through the passages.”

I guess.” I replied faintly.

“I wasn’t sneaking, don’t get me wrong.”

“I’m fine. I just got so pissed. Do you mind?” I said, pointing at the entrance that leads back to the gate back to everyone’s room. We’ve obviously walked far away and talk to the far end.

“Yeah, we should get back.”

I smiled within me with the joy that I have found a chat mate. Maybe I could stay afterall, it won’t be that bad if Damien doesn’t get on my nerves or if I stay quietly.

I feel like a bad omen, it’s been weeks since I got here. And everyone has been so quiet and serious A few more days with cassie would probably change things.

“We go to bars, you know? But not anymore, since you got here, since a war planning has been going on.”

“What is with this wars?”

“Actually, this park had a dreadful pack that turned out so many of the so called allies were enemies of the pack. Damien’s father died in the process and that was four years ago.”

“And that left him devastated, and birth his grumbling?”

“I don’t know, could be something else.”

We walked closer to the passage and heard some sort of furious noise, cassie held my hands so firmly. I wasn’t so sure what was happening. I just held her hand like it meant life to me.
