Chapter 3

Mallory's POV:

"Good evening, Alpha and Luna. We saw Sonia arrive at our home and summon Ace. What's the matter?" Beta Andrew asked. He was Ace's father and dark-skinned in complexion, as he was very tall too. He glared at me when he saw me kneeling down, but I glanced away, knowing that he doesn't like me too.

My father breathed out heavily and looked at his Beta's face.

"Andrew, Mallory accused Ace of sleeping with her in her room. Is that true, Ace?" My father shifted his gaze to Ace to gauge his reaction as Ace's parents gasped, "What?!"

"Ace, tell me it's not true," His mother, Lady Fiona Lennox, asked him, rushing to grasp his yellow dress shirt.

Ace glanced away from his parents, his expression darkening, as his fists clenched. Before he raised his face and looked at me.

"Say something, Ace," Lady Fiona shook Ace to respond as she cried. "You know that you cannot lie to Alpha Bruce. Did you truly mate with Mallory? Did you touch her or is she lying about you? You know that she's a useless she-wolf. Of no value and she has no wolf or scent, and seems like an ordinary human being. How can you mate with a curse like her?"

Lady Fiona pointed at me, as she was still grasping Ace by his shirt and querying him.

Ace's father demanded, "Did you do it, Ace? Did you mate with a curse like Mallory?"

"I am not a curse!" I yelled, as I hated it whenever they called me that.

"Shut up, Mallory! You killed your mother! Because of you, Ex-Luna Comfort died on the hospital bed. What else do you want to do to us? To ruin our pack's future and my only son's life?" Beta Andrew glared at me, but I challenged his gaze and replied, "I did not kill my mother. I did not ask to be born into this pack and without a wolf. I didn't wish to be different from others. I never asked for any of it. I did not ask Ace to come into my room and sleep with me. I am not the one who created myself, but the result of what my father gave my mother!"

Beta Andrew wanted to attack me on the ground where I knelt down, as I cried aloud and responded to him, but my father stopped him.

"That's enough, Andrew. It's not Mallory's fault that she was born differently, but what I want to know tonight is if Ace is the man who truly mated with my first daughter, Mallory Adonis?" My father demanded, his voice stern, and the large hall fell in an awkward silence. As all eyes shifted to look at Ace.

Ace lowered his gaze and confessed, "Yes, Alpha. I did."

"What?" Everyone in the grand hall gasped, disbelief etched on their faces and the guards who respected Ace, looked at him with disappointment.

I felt sorry for him, because of me, he was going to get banished or lose his future position as our next alpha.

"Why, Ace?" His mother asked him, sadly, shivering away from him in shock. "Among all the beautiful she-wolves in our pack? Why would you sleep with Mallory? Why?"

Lady Fiona sobbed, while Ace lowered his head, not responding.

"Why, Ace? Why would you do this to yourself? Why? I thought you love me, Ace?" Sonia sobbed, clutching her mother for support as tears poured out of her eyes like a stream.

Ace lowered his head and apologized, "I am sorry, Sonia. But Mallory is my real mate, and I cannot resist the mating bond between us. Forgive me, Alpha. But if you want me to reject Mallory, I will do it now. Please forgive me, as I couldn't fight the mating bond between us. Please, Alpha..."

Ace dropped down on his knees before my father, who stood there silently and looking at us with disbelief.

"Ace..." My father hissed, his voice filled with anger and disappointment.

"You disappointed me. Why didn't you reject Mallory when you found out that she was your mate? How can you be attracted to her when she has no scent or wolf?" My father looked disappointed at Ace, and everyone glanced at Ace to answer.

Ace lowered his head and replied, "I blame the moon goddess, Alpha. Mallory is beautiful in my eyes, and she scents like jasmine flowers. I don't know why others cannot perceive her scent. But she has a scent, and I can smell her."

"Shut up!" My father thundered, his cold voice booming in the living room.

"I see that you are beginning to lose yourself because of Mallory. I will overlook your sins for tonight because you have shown your worth that you can lead this pack well, and you have never been defeated in any battles before. But you must reject Mallory as your mate, as I cannot allow you to become mated with my first daughter. Mallory shall be expelled from this pack because she is of no importance to us. Failure to do so, then you will be expelled with her too. As I cannot risk putting all our pack members' lives in danger," My father declared, glaring at us, and hot tears welled in my eyes.

"No, father. You cannot banish me or force me to reject my mate. Tomorrow is my birthday. I cannot reject Ace!" I cried, as I love Ace so much, and wanted to be his mate.

"Shut up, Mallory, before I cut off your tongue! You better get ready to accept his rejection unless you want me to do what I ought to do after you killed my late mate!" My father accused me, and I looked at him with tears in my eyes, disbelief washing over me.

"I didn't kill Mom. The moon goddess can testify that I am innocent. Someone else has eliminated your mate so that she doesn't rule them as their Luna and not me. How can I do such?" I queried and my father marched up to meet me, grabbing me by my long blonde hair. As I was still kneeling on the ground.

"One more word from you again, and I will slit your throat this night and snap your head off your neck. Go on, Ace," My father stated, letting go of me and I looked away, because I resembled my mother. He hated to look at my face as Dad believed I was the one who killed his beloved mate.

"Please don't do this, Ace," I cried, trying to mind-link him, as I vigorously shook my head, begging not to reject me. I saw the hesitation in his eyes, but I knew that Ace had the entire pack to protect and care for.

"Ace..." I cried aloud, not wanting him to reject me, and he closed his eyes and said those hurtful rejecting words to me.

"I'm sorry, Mallory. I, Ace Lennox, the Beta's son of the Bright Moon Pack, reject you, Mallory Adonis, as my mate."

My heart ripped into two and burned from the painful rejection of my mate.

"Accept his rejection, Mallory, now!" My father yelled, forcing me, and I knew that he was not joking about killing me.

With tears in my eyes, I shut my eyes closed and accepted Ace's rejection, "I, Mallory Adonis, accept your rejection, Ace."

As I said those painful words, I passed out and collapsed on the ground, where I was kneeling down.
