The trek through the mountains had been long and arduous. The harsh winds whipped against them, and the rocky terrain was unforgiving, but Alpha Damien carried Kayla the entire way, refusing to let her feet touch the ground. He could feel her slight body trembling against him, and though she didn’t say a word, he knew she was exhausted—physically, emotionally, and mentally.

Finally, they reached a small settlement nestled in the valley. He knew of a hospital there that treated both humans and werewolves alike. His mind was already made up. Kayla needed to be checked, to be sure she hadn’t sustained any unseen injuries during her time in captivity.
