Hank had always prided in his office, it was his place of solitude and he had spared no expense in furnishing it to his taste. He loved how spacious it was and its elegance was unquestionable. The interior designer he contracted for the job had insisted on using dark mahogany furniture adorned with art pieces that spoke of a refined taste.

The large windows behind his desk offered a spectacular view of the city, casting a warm glow over the polished surfaces.

The first day Stephanie came into his office she had been blown away by its serenity, aura and warmth. Sometimes during the day when work was slow, she would come to her father's office to converse and also enjoy the calm the office exuded.

Since Ken and Kelvin were imprisoned she made it a habit to come daily to keep her father company and ensure he was not still hurt by the betrayal. As she conversed with her dad, she moved around the office, trailing her fingers along the edge of the antique desk, admiring the bookshelves li

Greg watched Stephanie, intrigued by the unusual blush that colored her cheeks. He couldn't help but wonder what kind of conversation she had been having with her father. If only he could be a fly on the wall during one of those discussions, he mused.Though he had caught something about dating from Mr. Hank, it was Stephanie’s beauty and poise that captured his attention. Everything about her was near perfect, and he found himself admiring her more deeply than before. After mulling it over in his mind for a while, Greg finally gathered the courage to ask, "Stephanie, would you like to go on a date with me?"Before she could respond, he quickly added, "Just a friendly date, I mean. I could use a friend to spend some time with. It's been a long time since I last went out."Stephanie hesitated, considering his words. She looked into his eyes and saw sincerity and some form of vulnerability. Finally, she nodded, "As a friend, okay."Greg's face lit up with joy. "Great! How about tonight?

"Agreed," Greg said, raising his fork in salute. "And speaking of pleasures, this has been one of the best evenings I've had in a long time. Thank you for saying yes.""Thank you for asking," Stephanie replied softly. "It's been a while since I've done something like this. I almost forgot how much fun it can be."Greg's heart warmed at her words. "Well, let's make sure this isn't the last time. What do you say? We make it a regular thing?"Stephanie smiled, leaning in slightly. "So, Greg, just to be clear, is this as friends?"Greg met her gaze, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "Strictly just as friends," he replied, a playful smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.Stephanie giggled, a sound that made Greg’s heart skip a beat. "Alright then, it's a deal."Greg laughed softly, relieved and happy that she agreed. "Perfect. Just friends enjoying each other's company. No pressure, no expectations."Stephanie nodded, feeling a weight lift off her shoulders. "Sounds like exactly what I

Stephanie thought to herself how everything in her life seemed to be falling into place. Her son had come back into her life, her would-be assassins were in jail, and she was healthy. She had also just had the best date she’d had in a long while. As she was reflecting on her recent good fortune, her phone rang. Seeing Greg’s name on the screen, she smiled and picked up the call.“Hey, Greg!” Stephanie greeted him warmly.“Hey, Stephanie. How’s your day going?” Greg’s voice was as cheerful as ever.“It’s been good. Busy, but good,” she replied, leaning back in her chair. “How about yours?”“Not too bad,” Greg said. “Actually, I was calling to see if you’d be available for another date this Saturday.”Stephanie’s heart did a little flip. “Another date? You mean like a proper date or just as friends?” she teased.Greg chuckled. “Strictly as friends, of course. We wouldn’t want to break any rules now would we?”Stephanie laughed, feeling a warm glow spreading through her. “Of course not.

She replied"Yes, seven it is," he confirmed. "I'm glad you remembered. Looking forward to it.""Me too," she replied, smiling even though he couldn't see it. “I want to stay awake until they get back,” Caleb insisted when the nanny suggested it was time for bed.“Caleb, it's late. You can stay up, but you have to promise to be in bed when your mom gets home.”Caleb nodded vigorously. “I promise.”Once Kayla had gone to bed, Caleb and the nanny played board games and watched TV. Stephanie sat on the edge of her bed, staring at her phone, the conversation with Alpha Damien weighed heavy on her mind. The thought of Caleb and how he had become increasingly withdrawn, and his illness taking a toll on his small frame made her eyes cloud and filled her with weariness. He needed his father, she knew that much, but the thought of returning to the pack filled her with so much dread that her body shook. As she sat there, lost in thought, she decided to call her father. He had always been her rock, offering guidance in moments of uncertainty just like now. Alpha Damien paced his office, his usual calm demeanor was now replaced with restless energy. The stack of paperwork on his desk was ignored, pushed aside in favor of more immediate concerns—Stephanie and the children. He had spent the entire morning trying to focus on his duties as Alpha, but his mind kept drifting back to them. Would Stephanie come with Caleb? And more importantly, would she bring Kayla? He sighed, running a hand through his hair as he glanced at the clock. The hours seemed to drag by painfully slow, each minute increasing his apprehension. He knew he had no right to expect anything from Stephanie, not after the way he had treated her all those years ago. If she chose to send Caleb with someone else, he wouldn’t blame her. He had hurt her deeply, and he was painfully aware that their relationship—or lack thereof—was entirely his fault.Damien thought back to the few brief encounters he’d had with Kayla since learning of her existence. She was a spitting image of Ste

Then some didn’t care, but joined the crowd, not wanting to miss out on anything happening in the pack. From his study, Alpha Damien could hear the murmur of voices growing louder as more people gathered outside. He sighed and rubbed a hand over his face. Resigning himself to what he had to do, he came out onto the front porch and immediately, the murmurs stopped as all eyes turned to him and waited for him to speak. “Thank you all for coming, I know many of you are curious about my visitors, especially your former Luna. I want you to know that she is here as my guest and has also brought with her my daughter whom I thought was lost.”Murmuring started through the crowd, and Damien held up a hand and they stopped talking. “I understand that you are

Damien stood on the edge of the field overlooking the lush greenery of parts of the pack territory. He glanced around at the pack members beginning their morning routines and took a deep breath, his mind elsewhere. It was Hank's invitation that lingered in his thoughts—a trip to South Africa, a vacation that had taken on a life of its own in his mind, fueled by encouragement from Stephanie and the children.“I think you should go," Chris had told him one evening, sensing Damien's hesitation. "You've been carrying this pack for years, barely taking a moment for yourself. Let me handle things here for a little while. I owe you that much—and more."Damien had turned to his beta, touched by Chris's words. "Chris, you know since after the whole ordeal we have faced, I planned on never stepping out of the pack for years to come”Chris gave a light chuckle, patting Damien's shoulder with a brotherly confidence. As they settled down for breakfast, the atmosphere was light with laughter and the occasional clink of silverware. She glanced beside her to see Damien, Kayla, and Caleb, all nestled close together, their faces peaceful in sleep. The children had insisted on sleeping with them that night, clinging to the safety and warmth they found between them after the terrifying events they'd endured. Stephanie had found no reason to say no; in fact, their closeness had provided her with a rare sense of calm.Taking a deep breath, Stephanie gently placed her hand on Damien’s shoulder, whispering his name as she brushed back the strands of hair that had fallen across his face.
