Emily's POV

A feathery touch made me stir in my sleep, I turned on the bed and felt someone in it. I opened my eyes drowsily and found those hazel eyes boring into my eyes. Before I could say a word, he placed his finger on my lips.

“Shush,” he made the hush sound, his closeness and his skin on mine made me love this sensation.

He climbed up the bed and I shifted a little to create space for him.

‘What is he doing here?’ I pondered, my heart beat in delight as I got to receive this kind of warmth from him.

I turned my back at him, I could feel him resting his chin with his elbow on the bed. His right hand on my arm as he gave me a gentle pat.

I bit my lower lip, shut my eyes closed and tried to fight the urge with my heart pounding. I wasn't expecting him to come back.

After a while, he chuckled huskily with the tone echoing in my ears.

“What?” I asked without turning to him.

“I wonder if your heart won't explode soon,” he said and it took me some time before his words registered in

There was no sign of Jack in the room.My head was banging and my body was running at a high temperature. The sun was up already, the rays seeped through the curtains. My hands were weak but I need to confirm. With great effort, I brought my sunbeam hair to my shoulders. Seeing its color looks faded, I sighed deeply and shut my eyes.It was my time of the month. After my resurrection, the prize I had to pay for the second chance at life was to fall ill once in a month. It was like a chargeable method that would keep me alive until the next month before I feel this way again.I tried to sit upright but it was just too difficult. There was no scent in the air that I could have called for to help me out. Jack and everyone in the pack are unaware about this fact about me. Aside from falling greatly ill, my powers are inactive throughout the day. I w

Emily's POVIt was a long ride because none of us decided to speak. All thanks to Jack, he succeeded in making the journey awkward. He casually mentioned his first love, and that made me wonder if I needed to know. If he ever had a first love, she must have been dead by now. So where is he taking us to? Or maybe to visit her tombstone?I couldn't ask these questions for him not to notice my curiosity. Last night, I messed up big time by asking if he would die. Making the same mistake right now will be crazy. For several hours, he continued riding at a slow pace. I guess that's why it takes longer to arrive at our destination. Along the line, I noticed that we'd entered an empty village. This piqued my interest as I glanced around.“Where are we?”“Hawja Shawna,” he responded almost immediately. I turned to look at him with a lost expression but his eyes were fixed on the road.“What's that?”“The name of this village, close to the human world. Don't worry, we will be there soon,” he a

Jackson's POV“Have you heard of chess game, mate?” My voice sounded rough. This fvcker I have as a wolf was trying to surface, all he cares about was her.I was trying hard not to reveal any emotions on my face. The story wasn't a warning, I only wanted her to show her real self to me. But she looks to be scared of me now, perhaps because she was weak. Her voice sounded weak and her body was burning. I smiled at her genuinely, the sound of her blood moving around her body was exciting to my ears. It's been a while since I last drank blood. And I wanted hers, even though I know that it was impossible. Unless she offers herself to me.“Do you?” I asked huskily again. Her eyes were filled with different emotions, a tear fell on her cheeks but she was quick to wipe it off.“Did you bring me here to intimidate me?” She questioned but I shook my head repeatedly.“That isn't an answer,”“You aren't in the right state of mind. You look drunk, here,” she showed her wrist to me.“Even though I

The sun wasn't out fully yet, I can't believe I passed out after offering my blood to him.Sitting upright, my body and hair were back to normal. But my mind was still lingering around our conversation yesterday. Went to the bathroom and freshened up and I was done in no time.I've got a task to do today. Not because of what Jack told me yesterday, but putting myself to use.I don't need to prove myself before he realizes I wasn't his first love. Emily's POVThe message I sent to Alpha Kane was for him to choose a location where we could meet and talk. He knows that I was the one that sent the note and he asked us to meet tomorrow.“Thank goodness,” I muttered in relief before tearing the note into pieces. I feel like I was finally taking a step as Jack's mate to help the realm, if I'm not befitted to be the Queen yet.The lives of many soldiers would be lost, their mates will be miserable forever. Thinking about them, this risk is worth taking.I left my room after I was done to return to Zaza in the garden. Upon arriving, he was diligently watering the flowers and a smile curled on my lips.“Roses might later be your bestie if you water them well,” I commented, walking closer to him. He turned to me briefly before continuing what he was doing without saying anything.I stood next to him with my arms crossed, watching him doing his thing.“Can I ask you a question, Zaza?” I intentionally called his name to catch his attention.

Emily's POVI was getting ready in my room to meet Alpha Kane. Zaza would come to get me if I'm not back on time. And I'm grateful for the fact that Kiara hasn't been in my affairs for a few days now.I packed my hair into a high ponytail, before covering it up with a visor cap. If I hadn't followed Jack out the other day, I would have had issues with going out with a horse.Zaza made sure that one of the horses will be ready for me to take out. I was still dressing up when I heard a soft knock on my door. Before I could permit the person to come in, the door has creaked opened already.“Can't you….”“It's me,” it's Jack. I forced a smile before nodding, continuing dressing up. He looked down at me suspiciously as he entered, shutting the door behind him.“Are you going somewhere?”“Nope,” that response was instant. He didn't come closer, making me turn around. Not like I wanted him to even come closer to me.His expression was quite calculative before he smiled.“I'll be at the counci

Emily's POV “Good day, your highness,” I bowed slightly, without meeting her gaze and entered the palace. I was still going when I heard her question behind me. “Where have you been, Emily?” I nearly rolled my eyes before heaving deep breaths. I turned around with my arms crossed.“To exercise my right as the Queen,” I responded casually before glancing at Mason, “Is Jack around?” “No, he went out with Zaza not quite long,” he responded. I nodded in response, finally realizing why I met her at the door. “I would like to be in my room now, Lady Elena.” I said before walking away. She wasn't pleased with me for no reason, not like I care at this moment. I wasn't really heading to my room, but to the pack house.Exercising my rights as the Queen starts with getting to know the people around me first. Where was Jack?I tried to sit upright, but a hand gently pushed me back to the bed.Kael leaned over me. “How are you feeling, Your highness?” he asked carefully. He stood tall and lean, his piercing eyes sharp and unyielding. Author's POV“She doesn’t remember you at all?” Jack shook his head. Madison frowned deeply, arms crossed as she listened to Jackson after he explained to her that Emily had woken up but doesn't remember him. “She looked at me… it was like I was nothing.” His voice cracked slightly, but he pushed through. “Why? Why doesn't she remember me?” He asked, his tone pleading. She had looked him in the eye, completely blank, as if he were a stranger.Madison sighed, rubbing her temples. “It could be the aftereffects of Harper’s mark. We don’t know exactly what it did to her mind.” She paused before adding, “We need to test this. Bring Mason and Zaza. Let’s see if she really remembers them together with me.”Jackson hesitated. He wasn’t sure what he was hoping for. If she recognized them, it meant she was still herself—just without him. But if she didn’t remember them either, then he had to face the terrifying possibility that Harper had changed her forever.Regardless, he nodded. “Alright

Jackson's POV It had been two long, agonizing months. Every day since Emily fell into that coma, I felt as if I was drowning in my own guilt. Sitting beside her motionless body, I dabbed her forehead with a wet cloth, my hands trembling. Her pale face made my chest ache in ways I couldn’t put into words. Tears streamed down my cheeks freely. I didn’t bother wiping them anymore. What was the point? Every moment replayed in my head, the way she had sacrificed herself for me again without a second thought. That image of her collapsing haunted me. I reached for her hand, clasping it tightly in mine. “Please, Ann,” I whispered, my voice breaking. “Please wake up. I miss you so much.” My lips brushed against her knuckles as I choked back a sob. “You promised to give me a response to my apology once everything is over. But you're not here with me to see it, my love. I need you... please.” The weight of my mistakes crushed me every second of every day. If I could trade places with he

The moment Emily smashed the crystal ball against the ground, the yard erupted in chaos. A blinding light consumed everything, its intensity forcing everyone to shield their eyes. She staggered backward as an overwhelming surge of energy left her body, her knees giving way beneath her. She collapsed to the ground, her vision blurring as she fought to stay conscious. “Ann!” Adams’ voice cracked as he saw her fall. His heart pounded in panic, but his body refused to cooperate. Bound to the tree and weakened by the poisoned blade, he could only watch helplessly. Harper let out a blood-curdling scream, her hands clawing at the air as she fell to her knees. A thick, black substance oozed from her mouth, her once confident smirk replaced by pure agony. Beside her, Alan mirrored her pain, convulsing violently as the same dark energy poured out of him. Adams clenched his teeth, forcing his gaze away from Harper and Alan to focus on Emily. His instincts screamed at him to get to her, but

Jackson’s POV The sight of Alan standing before me was like a blow to the chest. I could barely believe my eyes. Someone I thought I had lost forever was here, alive, breathing, and yet... there was something wrong. His eyes were dark, hollow, and devoid of the warmth I remembered. "Alan," I managed to say, my voice thick with disbelief. "Is it really you?" He didn't answer. Instead, he smiled-a cruel, empty grin that sent chills down my spine-and before I could react, he dragged a sharp knife across my chest. "Goddess!" I hissed in pain, stumbling back. My hand instinctively went to the wound as warmth spread across my skin. “Alan, stop! What are you doing?" He didn't stop. His movements were quick and deliberate, like a predator closing in on its prey. I dodged as he lunged at me again, the knife narrowly missing my side. “Alan, listen to me!" I pleaded, trying to catch his wrist. "We need to talk. This isn't you-” But he wasn't listening. His entire focus was on one t

Emily's POV I stood inside the tent, pacing back and forth. My heart was restless, and my mind kept wandering to Adams. I had tried to focus on the little things around me, but nothing helped. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw his face, heard his voice, and imagined the mess he was walking into. I paused by the entrance, listening carefully. His retreating footsteps reached my ears, and I couldn’t help but whisper a prayer. Moon Goddess, keep him safe for me. Help him fight his battles and come back unharmed. But a part of me kept nagging: was I really doing the right thing by staying behind? Should I have pushed harder to go with him? The tent was too quiet, and my thoughts were too loud. I flopped onto the bed, staring at the ceiling, but my mind wouldn’t stop racing. Where was he now? Was he okay? Suddenly, I heard footsteps outside. My heart jumped, and I immediately sat up. The sound was faint, almost careful, like someone was trying not to be heard. My chest tightened, an

Jackson’s POV I stood outside the tent, staring at the flap as it fell shut behind Emily. She glanced back at me one last time before going in, and my chest tightened at the thought of leaving her here. But I didn’t have a choice. Releasing a shaky breath, I turned on my heels, pulled out my phone, and dialed Zaza. His voice came through almost immediately. “She’s there,” I said, glancing back at the tent. “Make sure she’s safe. Nothing happens to her, Zaza. You hear me?” “Understood,” he replied calmly. “I’ll make sure of it.” I exhaled, relieved, but my mind was already racing to the next problem. “And Kiara?” “She hasn’t left the location,” Zaza confirmed. “Same place as before.” “Good,” I muttered, hanging up without another word. I headed back to where I had parked my car. I dialed Mason this time, and he picked up after the first ring. “Meet me at the location I'll sending the address you to you.” I got his affirmation before disconnecting the car. Emily's POVI sat quietly in the passenger seat as he drove us along a winding road surrounded by towering trees. The further we went, the quieter it became, like we were leaving the world behind. The silence in the car was heavy, and it gnawed at me. I turned to him, breaking the quiet.“Adams, where are we going exactly?”He didn’t answer, his eyes fixed on the road ahead. I frowned. “Adams, you’re not seriously going to ignore me, are you?”He glanced at me briefly, “A few minutes more. Are you scared that I was going to kidnap you?”“Very funny.” I turned my head outside the window, slouched in my seat, crossing my arms. Whatever he was planning, I hope he does it well.It wasn’t long before the car slowed down and came to a stop in front of what looked like an old, abandoned graveyard. The air was eerily still, and the overcast sky gave the place a gloomy feel. My stomach knotted.“Why are we here?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.Adams stepped out of the car, and I he
