Two bloodlines

Helena’s P.O.V.

“Where do you think you are going, Crown Princess?”

This uncanny question rendered me immobile, my muscles locked in paralysis. My breath hitched, caught in my throat, a suspended moment shushed me as if shock had momentarily stolen the very sound of my voice.

I would have died with a sudden heart attack if the owner of that voice wasn’t a kind friend. Susan flashed before my eyes like lightning, she was gasping for breath.

“This isn’t a safe place. Come with me.”

She held my hand and dragged out my unwilling heart, who was trampled over by her unanticipated appearance. Susan didn’t stop for a second and pulled me back to her home.

Her voice was barely above a whisper as she questioned me.

“Do you need anything, Crown Princess?

Are you feeling unwell? Where are your maids?

How can you walk so far in such deteriorating health?”
