Resolute Decision

Helena’s P.O.V.

“Mr. Hensley is here!”

Who is this Mr. Hensley? My heart was in a fucking one-hundred-meter sprint, dreading on a hidden enemy’s planning to harm our wolf-less brother-sister duo.

Alpha Jerald had saved our lives, but now it felt that he would be a reason for our blooded ending.

Perhaps, Alpha mind-linked his warrior, that stern-faced man vanished in thin air and returned briefly with a guest.

“Come in!”

I even forgot to breathe in anticipation and clutched my bed covers to my chest protectively. There was a slim possibility that the intruder would refuse to recognize me or took pity on a pregnant woman. However, all my reservations were eased to see the man walking inside the room.

A tall middle-aged man, with a muscular body indicating that he was a strong warrior, came into the hospital room, his worried expressions were the same as mine. His regal grace, expensive attire, and the curiosity in those hazel orbs was a sign that he was a noble man. He bowed his head and spoke politely.

“Greetings, Alpha Jerald. Thank you so much for informing me about my friend’s children. Arthur will be grateful to you in Heaven.”

“In Heaven?”

Alpha Jake’s shaky voice questioned; he was aghast at this revelation.

“Arthur Hensley is dead, Alpha. I’m Desmond, his best friend. I have been staying at his house for the last twenty years.

When your messenger sent me a message, I boarded the very first flight to come here.”

After exchanging formal words of condolence, Alpha Jerald left with his father to provide us with some privacy. There was something in Desmond’s personality which was hypnotizing me to trust him at once, but I stayed on guard.

He was the friend of a person named Arthur, who was definitely not my dad. My mom has told me that our dad’s name was Jonathan Hensley, who died while fighting against the enemy.

I held my head high when he dragged a chair close to my bed and brought out his cellphone.

“Your dad was a great friend, dear. His sudden death was an unfortunate accident.”

He gestured to me to read a text on his cell phone’s screen, which was a turning point in the current situation.

“I know that you must be suspecting my identity, so here comes the truth. Your dad, Jonathan Hensley, was a part of a spy group of the Red River Pack. It was his duty not to reveal his true identity.

That’s why he tricked Alpha Jake into believing that he is Arthur and lives in my house.

And to support my claim, here are your mother’s mobile number, her texts on every new year and Christmas cards. These are proof of my connection with your family.”

The greeting cards in my mom’s handwriting, our contact numbers and our family pictures were enough for me to trust him.

“I have given birth to twins: one girl and one boy. I sincerely appreciate your favor, brother Desmond.”

Our childhood pictures and the way she addressed him as a brother cleared the haze of my suspicion.

“Thank you so much for coming, Uncle Desmond.”

He smiled brightly at me and rose up from his spot to caress the top of my head.

“You are my niece, Helena. I’ll take care of everything now. Please take good care of yourself.”

He discussed Liam’s condition with the doctor and arranged my visit to his room.

The sterile corridors and foul smell of medicines were causing me a headache, uncle was kind enough to help me with wheelchair.

As soon as we entered the room, my heart was stabbed by a blunt knife to see Liam’s pale face. Thankfully, the doctors were hopeful for his recovery.

“Despite being wolf-less, Liam has endured a severe headache and stayed conscious until reaching the operation theater.

He has a strong willpower, not to mention his tolerance level, which is surprisingly better than an omega.”

But when the surgeon explained the reason for his brain bleed, my head spun in rounds, the doctor’s voice sounded like an echo from some distance.

“In accordance with the tests and reports, the brain bleed was a result of a blunt trauma, like Liam’s head was hit by a hard surface.”

Sylvia’s mocking voice and her claim replayed in my mind, fuming me,

“One punch! All it took was one punch to silence that childish opposition.”

The pure rage coursed through my veins, as I cursed inwardly.

“You have tried to kill my brother, Alpha Zayden. I’ll never forgive you!”

My healthy brother was now lying half-dead on a hospital bed, this was entirely Zayden’s fault. All my previous thoughts of sending a letter or contacting Beta Alex to inform them about my pregnancy jumped out of the window right in front of my eyes. This was out of the charts now.

I vowed to never let him see my kids. They were mine, Helena Hensley’s kids. They would have no connection with a monster like Alpha Zayden ever in my life.

Liam regained consciousness in the evening. The doctors allowed me to see him after a series of tests about his senses and responses. It was a relief that his brain was working properly.

“Sister!”

He stretched his lips in a smile to keep his brave façade intact and raised his hand.

“Liam!”

I ran towards him and clasped his hand in mine, tears broke the bounds of my eyes as I spoke.

“Stop pretending, Liam. I know you are sick.”

Liam kissed the back of my hand; his gentle voice was laden with worry.

“How are you feeling now, sister? Did someone bully you when I was out?”

I sniffled and just stared at him silently, his care calmed down my soul.

“Look at yourself, Liam. Your condition is critical. Stop worrying about me and get well soon.”

The doctors prescribed a five-day hospital stay for Liam’s recovery, so Uncle Desmond decided to live with us. He called his home and introduced us to his twelve years old daughter, Skylar, who was a cute young girl. She exclaimed in happiness and jumped from her seat. She even tried to teleport out of that mobile phone’s screen.

“A new friend? And an adult one?

Even better. Come to our house soon, Helena. I’m anxiously waiting to meet you in person!”

Uncle Desmond chuckled and reprimanded her softly.

“The curfew of 07:00 pm will be the same for you, Sky. Don’t get your hopes high!”

Soon a nurse shifted my bed to Liam’s room, our little reunion gave me a chance to share my pregnancy news with him. As expected, Liam was against the idea of keeping them, but my resoluteness shushed him.

“These are mine pups, Liam. Be good and support your baby sister. Otherwise, I’ll never let them call you uncle!”

As Liam was born two minutes before me, he was the boss between us, but I had countless methods to have my way with him. Eventually, he surrendered to my wishes.

“As you say, sister. I’ll support you in every decision of your life.”

The end of that eventful day was a peaceful one, Liam fell asleep soon after taking the medication.

However, I stayed awake while contemplating my future.

“I’ll find a job and earn a lot of money. You’ll get the best of everything, my pups.”

It was a brand-new experience to talk with the two innocent souls growing inside me, then much-needed sleep provided me with solace in its arms during our one-sided conversation.

This sleep was supposed to be relaxing; but I heard bizarre whispers in my dream.

“Danger! Brother is sick! Hold his hand!”

Then I saw myself getting up from my bed in a daze and sitting beside Liam, grasping his hands as instructed.

In the morning, this dream was the first thing which appeared in my mind after waking up.

I shook my head at this craziness,

“Now I am having weird dreams! Great!”

I yawned lazily and turned to see Liam whether he was up or not. But my eyes popped out to see the unbelievable scene before me. My jaw literally fell to the ground, as Liam was sitting on his bed, checking his head after removing bandages.

His glimmering eyes met mine, he shouted gleefully.

“I-I have recovered completely, sister. My head injury is healed!”
