Chapter 49

Chloe’s POV.

After taking my bath and eating until my stomach rejected the rest, I sat on the bed quietly and patiently waiting for Alpha Jax to return. I rested my back on the bed, my eyes scanning the ceiling while my hands folded on my chest. The thought of Liam seeing me earlier kept nagging at me. I hoped he hadn't caught a glimpse of me.

I tried not to dwell on it too much. Being in this pack, it would be challenging for Liam to track me down. Changing my name was a precaution to ensure he wouldn't have any idea of my whereabouts or my new identity.

The gust from outside drifted in through the window, lulling me. I fought to keep my eyes open, wanting to see Jax enter the room. I didn't want him to find me asleep, even though I had no clue where he had gone or how long it would be before he returned. I was determined to wait for him.
